It was so funny where Scotley’s smirk disappeared when Trev went back in line. His and Jen’s eliminations were so satisfying.

Trev's face turn is definitely something I think everyone respects. Even when he got bullied he didn't fight back with the same malice and lack of maturity as the others. Also his exit confessional is one of the more heartbreaking ones imo. He deserved better for how much he improved

One thing that’s even more upsetting about Gizzy getting the chop over Scotley in the CFYL challenge is that Scotley outright cheated on the challenge. The prompt was to use ingredients from the farmer’s market tables, and Scotley picked red lentils from the back pantry as his primary side, which is NOT what the challenge asked for. I’m partly surprised he wasn’t disqualified for breaking the rules of the challenge.

@@realtalkrealthingsent.8024 I've seen people claiming POC get preferential treatment because DEI, and I've seen just as many people claim people were eliminated unfairly for being a minority. How about this- HK has always had a diverse lineup of contestants and doesn't treat chefs any differently based on their race or sexuality, ESPECIALLY in the later seasons. This is literally the same season where a black person would lose the next elimination challenge to a white person

I've always found Motto's quit to be pretty BS, at least the way the show framed it. At the beginning of the season Gordon says to him that Baton Rouge has an incredible culinary scene and Motto is very proud of it, and is IMO the biggest one in Louisiana outside of New Orleans. But now when it's time to leave, it's suddenly some backwater town that needs him to personally come elevate it? They frame it like Motto is some new Prometheus, come to bring knowledge to the simple town of Baton Rouge. I genuinely wonder if he just wanted to go back home and didn't want the job, but production had him frame it like that so it didn't look like a quit.

Scotley would fit right at home in the season 16 blue team. Although considering how he treated Trev, it makes me sick to my stomach to think of what he would do to Aaron.
    1. Like in the Trev bullying beginning, he made fun of his allergic reaction. Keep in mind, Trev himself didn’t call the medic, that was Christina
    2. Remember when he acted like Trev was being lazy during that punishment, well during his elimination episode, He did nothing to help. He just made eggs and snacks for himself and smoked. And what’s his excuse there?
    3. He (along with Chris (who I normally like outside of this) and Jose) was creepy to Mia after the Jen night
    4. Same episode, Mia asked him to grab something, I believe. So he says “I can’t see it, I’m tall as F”. And I’m like, “just bend over”. Most tall people do that
    5. He absolutely deserved to leave over Gizzy after he broke the rules

I get that Kanae was more likable than Heather but if we look back at that last Black Jacket lounge challenge, Heather managed to have a better execution of her dish compared to Kanae’s dish. Don’t get me wrong Kanae had a good dish but it just had a few more flaws compared to Heather’s dish. What matters to Ramsay the most is the execution of the dish. Finally someone who isn’t just praising Motto - he’s actually one of my least favourite chefs on the show. The Trev bullying was bad of course, but I absolutely cannot respect the 4th place quit. Quitting before black jackets? Fine. But the black jacket prestige is something every chef that joined the show wants, and stealing that opportunity from someone, in this case Kanae, is just not respectable in the least. I also think the final 2 would’ve been Ariel and Mia regardless, he knew he wasn’t winning and wanted to go out on a high.
Though I am aware my opinions are generally very unpopular, heck my favourite chef on the this season is Heather and second favourite is Trev. I’ve never understood the Heather hate and she’s a great chef who works her ass off even when others are against her. I like Trev for similar reasons.

My rankings for each of these seasons are a combination of character personality, impact, and, of course, kitchen skills.
    1. Ariel Contreras-Fox (I just view her as one of the top-tier winners in HK history.)
    2. Kanae Houston (Yeah, I really enjoyed her and was pissed when she lost to Heather. Not much more to say.)
    3. Chris Motto (I barely even noticed his part in the Trev bullying because his talent makes up for it. As for his quit, I figured he would back up his promise and he did.)
    4. Trev McGrath (Where the hell did this come from?! It's not exactly a face turn, but it's kinda close to one. Or maybe he got a little karma for threatening death twice, idk.)
    5. Gizzy Barton (Considering she lost to Scotley and I didn't see the massive difference in their moralities at the time, I now feel bad and put her here.)
    6. Bret Hauser (Yes, his bullying of Trev was bad, but his bounce back from a fluke injury in his previous injury is great to see.)
    7. Mia Castro (I've said I wasn't as high on some characters as many others, but Mia is the face of that for me. I don't hate her or anything, she's fine, but I didn't think she was a runner-up type in talent and her voice isn't the greatest to listen to.)
    8. Chris Mendonca (I seriously hope he's doing better today.)
    9. Scott Popovic (One of the greatest donkeys ever.)
    10. Heather Williams (Didn't change much, but just got a little worse than before.)
    11. Jose DeJesus (Buddy was not prepared for the karma he would recieve for the Trev bullying.)
    12. T Gregoire (Her fucking up meat that badly is beyond me.)
    13. Kevin Cottle (Shell of his former self.)
    14. Roe DiLeo (What exactly did she do again?)
    15. Jen Gavin (Why did you come back again?)
    16. Scotley Innis (Is this the black devil?)

This was probably the first season I ever watched straight the entire way through(I'm weird leave me alone) and in hindsight I like it SO much less than I first did. I LOVE Ariel's story, but her personality was just... too stoic and professional for good tv y'know? It did seem too like she never planned to take the head chef position which sours her a bit in my eyes? Like I know it's karma for HK pulling the rug from past winners but it's like... yeah... she won... and she talks the entire season about the head chef position like she actually wants it then just takes the money to fuel her own restaurant brands. I respect it, but it makes the season worse in hindsight for me, there's less stakes it feels like?
Also I do agree with your takes about Mia. I don't like her, and I don't like how mean she was to everyone but Ariel. But she walked that walk. She dominated challenges, she rarely made mistakes, and it's still iconic to me that when Ariel and Mia had to decide who was going to swap teams they said "Okay, you go to the red team, and I'll see you in the finals" and then THEY DID.
Gonna be real, it's so nice to watch you grow and give Heather the props she deserves. Thank you. I know I'm biased, but I always felt she was unfairly hated. She did nothing wrong, period. She tried her best, she wasn't the best, and she kept her head up high the entire time. I'll always hold massive respect for her. I really love her Mom energy, it's so wholesome every time I see her on screen.
    My top picks are...
    1: Heather
    2: Bret
    3: Gizzy
    4: Chris
    5: Motto
I love Bret, I have borderline, I'm an intense person, so I completely get him. I love his passion and how genuine he was.
Gizzy was like Rochelle without the laughter and a bit of a snarkier side. She 100% deserved to go on instead of Scotley, especially because of their hometown connection. Scotley can eat 20 bags of soggy dicks.
Chris is up this high for me mostly bc of his episode dedicated to him. I've rewatched the moment he realizes his dish was the best and the genuine shock makes me cry every time. I'm so glad to hear he's doing well and that Christina supported him the entire way. Kitchens are brutal on mental health, I know from experience.
and like, yeah I know Motto wasn't the nicest the entire way? But I still always got the vibe he was a genuinely nice guy. He reminds me of the rednecks I grew up with - a little rough on the edges and not always the most pc, but well meaning.

lmao what I'm glad I read the comments first. I can see the reasoning bc she was absolutely dominant like? But I'm sorry, I'm just not gonna root for the mean person. I've worked in kitchens with that negativity and it shouldn't be encouraged, which is also why I like the later season more... but yeah.. Mia was nasty the entire season and pretty upfront about it too. Just she usually walked the walk? I always disagree with Flynn tho lol

Mia wasn't a villain, she was just a jerk in episode 8. The rest of the season was the other chefs starting shit with her

Well it's his list and opinion. That's why we have the option to do our own list in the comments. I will say I'm not a fan of Mia either shes a great cook especially with challenges and her smile is infectious but her throwing kanae under the bus constantly and not taking accountability made her unlikeable to me.

Why does it need an "EXTREME makeover", so it matches YOUR opinion?
It's his personal subjective opinion, nobody's treating it as fact. Disagree with it all you want, there are placements I also don't agree with but just because it doesn't match yours doesn't mean it's wrong.

@@KMC710-k9x yeah I'm aware. I hope he ranks it correctly but I hate how inconsistent he is with unlikable chefs. Some he ranks low for being bad and some he ranks high for being memorable even though they are bad. It's annoying.

@ I get what you’re saying, but I can see what he means about like entertaining villains, like Jason from season 22. Versus like villains who make the season almost unwatchable.
I try to respect his and others opinions as long as they’re not like petty or stupid. Like I didn’t dislike his season 2 ranking because he ranked Virginia last. I disliked it because he ranked her last for something that wasn’t her fault, when there’s a literal sociopath on her season
