Side note. I agree that the City set could've been better with focusing on the buildings being a Hotel and Apartment specifically. City should release those smaller modular units in $20-$40 sets. Something like the pizza stand would be a $10-$20 range and something larger like a police sub-station/house/shop could be in the $25-$40 range. For afols/parents on a budget it would be much appreciated. I was able to purchase a 12ft, above ground, chlorine pool for my kids for $150.00. To get a lego city boat to float in the pool cost as much as the pool.

I really enjoyed this comparison and now can't decide between City and Friends. You pointed out things I wouldn't have considered. I really like the Friends but feel the girly colors don't fit that well with my other buildings overall. Thanks for another great video.
The only thing i dislike about the LEGO Creator Main Street set was that you legitimately have two music stores right next to each other.
On the plus side, the B and C builds look pretty good!
Honestly might grab two or three copies of the Creator 3 in 1, and the LEGO City Down Town set.

I honestly agree with pretty much everything you said, including the fact that it isn't really fair to compare the Creator 3-in-1 set to the other two, since it is at such a different piece count and price point.
However, I think the Creator 3-in-1 set was a crucial part of this review, as it emphasized just how good this year's Friends and CITY sets actually were.
Speaking of Friends and CITY, I also have to agree with you that I neither one is better than the other--they are both equally excellent in completely different ways. I hope to eventually add both of them to my shopping cart when I find them at a bit of a discount.
Thank you so much for this comparison video! It was really helpful and really interesting to see the different approaches that each team takes to address the "same" task. I am likely going to end up having to get all of these (for different reasons), but at least I know what to expect now.

My personal favourite is actually the Creator set. It seems the most "classic" in its aesthetics, while the other two are a bit too modern for my tastes.

Liked the Creator Main Street a lot. There is a MOC for this set called "Vynil Shop", so you can make a true modular building out of it. Also the killer feature of the Creator set is that you can build 3 models out of one box - always makes me think I've made a good purchase😅
Got it for 63USD btw, so it's a pretty good deal anyway
I also love the Downtown Street set, but i guess Creator is my favorite
And I'm not into Friends at all yet... Still don't understand those sets. I see the point it's supposed to be for girls, but i believe the colours have to be more or less natural, not that hot pink/violet/acid green and so on

I like adding the apartments set, and combine it with the hotel marking it bigger with 3-4 floors. Then put the cell phone shop, cleaner room, together on top of the Groceries store.
I like creator the most tbh.
I feel the 3in1 kinda went too far in terms of what you can do with the piece count. The line of 3in1 always has the city building that is a module. But now they made 4 modules in 1 set. Which had to be miniaturized due to part restriction. If they went just 1 building less it would fit much better with the other sets. I have the others minus the burger shop. Which I still want. The best being the Noodle shop. Then the toy store in my opinion. And since this set cannot come close to the others it is dead last. But still if you want to bulk out your creator street then it is a must buy imo.
I know this sounds weird but I love the “big” City Set and the “big” Creator set because City continues to connect with their own road while some how managing to connect to Creator in a way.
I know friends can connect as well but unlike City where they have actual road that you can use to connect to different set and make those wide turns easier…while being able to extend the road to add creator sets into the mix…I just don’t see that with Friends…you actually have to collect Friends sets in order for their set to connect
Now if the set 10:15 was a stand alone where I can’t connect to anything unless I use my old city road plates and I actually have Friends sets…then I would probably enjoy it living in my town more because of the interior.
The winner is Lego Friends. Best bang for your buck. Friends has been better than city the last few years. If I had pockets to get all 3, it can make very nice city set up.

I definitely think that the LEGO City Down Town set is the best’ I bought it and when I had finished putting it together I have to say from all the colours that were included in it it makes out to be a great display piece’ if it’s part of your city or just standing on its own’

I'm not a huge fan of the city or creator set -- that flower shop in the Friends set in unbeatable imo! So gorgeous, and while the Ikea :P store isn't my fave, it is packed with goodies! I dig it.

I Agree. I also love the Lego City by the looks of it but the value itself is way to expensive than the others. I'm not really a fan of Lego Friends but for me It stands among the other sets. Love the comparisons by the way. 👍
todos los sets presentados tienen sus pro y contras, el detalle de las superficies en el set Friend son asombrosos, el city con sus modulos son una genialidad y el creator mantiene lo clasico de su linea. De los 3 me quedo con el modular de city, segundo el friend y tercero el creator.
I'd say City are basically equal. It just depends on whether you prefer big buildings or many small ones

The City set looks jumbled, like someone stuck the Friends pop star bus through a brown Creator building and attached it to a City airport. I prefer the cohesiveness of the Friends buildings. If they took the pink and orange buildings out of the Creator set it might have been my favorite. I guess I could skip those sections and build my own two shops in their place... ok, I might be sold on the Creator one.
That's the problem with super modular stuff, but maybe for kids it's fun to change things around.

Not really ducks. All 3 sets are non modular because they are all open backs for play feature. Buying multiple of these sets and alternating the builds would be modular. Don't get me wrong either. They are awesome sets. Modulars are the creator expert builds such as the daily bugle, sanctum sanctorum and boutique hotel etc are modular buildings. All in all. Love the breakdown on all sets from interior and exterior. 😎👍🏻
But they are modular. Look up the definition of the word 😉 Lego creator expert /icons buildings are modular but plenty of other Lego sets and themes are too, open back or closed, building or not a building. 🎉
City downtown is modular because it is designed so you can take out the rooms individually and rearrange them into different combinations. It even shows you on the box.
This is really just an issue of "Modular" vs "modular." "Modular" (with a capital M) would reference the Lego subline of Modular Houses, etc, and you're correct that these builds aren't quite as complex as those. As referenced in the vid though, they are "modular" (with a lower case M) in that they are designed to have different sections that can be moved around and adjusted to the desire of the builder.

I mean all of this in a constructive way: I wanted to hear what you had to say, but I can't sit through a 30 minute video. I made it about 7 minutes in, and then jumped to the comments to get the gist of where you were going. Could all this have been said in half the time? Also, the shadows are distracting, as are the echos and other environmental noises- in other words, you need to work on your lighting and audio.
