- 1937 Lincoln Zephyr 🏜️ Ian Roussel Continues Install of Rear Leaf Spring Mounts 📐
Ian Roussel continues the install to get this Zephyr on Planet Get Low. Ian has once again come up with some ingenious ways to install the rear mounts.
Ian Roussel wants this car very low, he arranges an approximately 10 inch static drop in the new suspension design.
The Backstory:
Desert friends turn Ian and Jamie on to a find of a lifetime, A 1937 Lincoln Zephyr. In the kustom community, friends are EVERYTHING, as is sharing finds and resources so that we all can carry on the tradition and legacy of kustom culture. The kustom family has come through once again, and Ian and Jamie found themselves deep in the desert at an estate sale that was only invite only. This car could have went to the highest bidder, but instead went to The Roussel's to take loving care of it. Tune in to see what Ian and Jamie's plans are for this beautiful and rare car. The car has no cancer, no collisions, and most of the exterior pieces are included.

Working on that 1937 Zephyr sounds like you're playing music of the era big band that is nice progress thanks for the video
Thank you!
I really enjoy watching your videos. Both of you are doing an excellent job. Keep it up 👍
You can put a piece of sponge into the hole saw and soak it with cutting fluid so as you cut and compress the sponge it squeezes out the cutting fluid and helps cutting the metal and extends the holesaw life.
Just thinking Jamie’s upper body strength has increased substantially since their UA-cam venture began. She’s rock solid holding that camera support. Very impressive!
Thank you!
That’s the first time I’ve seen shackles used for lowering instead of lifting the back of a car.
Only Ian can dream up that concept.
Please keep the videos coming
Isn't longer ubolts and rear-end blocks much easier
@@markmcintosh3255only if the rear end sits above the leaf springs.

You never cease to Amaze me with your work. 😊
Ahhh, very good. Another day in rehab for me, another Full Custom Ian adventure for you! I feel I privileged to watching ALL of these builds. It makes my boring day a little bit better-er. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you are healing and feeling better!
Mr. B. Here ! 🍸👀😎. A master craftsman at work ! 👍👏👍👏👍👏
You guys could start another UA-cam channel, "Ian's happy tails dog training". It would be a hit.
The good old wackomator comes in very handy for making the top plates fit correctly ,this is going to look so cool when its lowered with those fender skirts
The boxing is the gusset for the standoffs. Improves lateral rigidity.
Ian has talent oozing from every pore!
I was adapting to a tricycle axle exactly with iron sheets, I stopped to rest and thought I'm going to watch the line to motivate myself to continue and just like that, trial and error,. Can't stop 💪🏻
This Zephyr is shaping up to be cool AF!!!!!!
I myself would really like to see more of the little jewel build.
We will be getting back to Her...we look forward to completing it
The welding tunes are cool.
Love the music
Music sounds like a 60’s sitcom. Where’s our TV Dad?
Jaime, I love the music and your commentary, Ian, you truly are a metal master…
Ian amazes himself love it. Such a fine craft man
Hi Jamie & Ian! I am taking a break from work to enjoy your work. George The GlassMan
Loving it it hopefully the new puppy will be next shopping instructor!!
Jamie the music while Ian was cutting with his cutoff wheel made me start singing 🎼 It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood a beautiful day for a neighbor wold you be mine could you my neighbor.
Welcome to Ian and Jamie’s Neighborhood. 😂😂😂. Best wishes to you both really enjoy your content. 👍
FULL CUSTOM :)
Wow!! Ian, awesome, watched your door/window fab on vw update the other day. Just when things couldn't get better (this arvo) watchin' the gusset's on the zephyr. Wow masterclass (master fab), Jaimee, 'gusset's', works for me, great to hear you if only in the back round, you're turnin' out some gr8 vids. Pop your head round say g'day, love your work guys you are great!!! Ian heard Gene was pulling back and sellin' off some stuff .Thought oh! no end of an era. BUT I'm happy in the knowledge your doin' your thing and sharing it with us FANTASTIC, the art form is alive and well watched the ol' red build with ya mate Bill the other day, wow you do some magic cheers!!!
Looking good. Love your music choices Jamie, always surprising. 😀
Thanks for putting Shadow on. We miss Dude and Lil.
Looks great. It's worth mentioning that many applications mount the rear of the spring along with the shackle above chassis mounting point.
Brackets, tabs, gussets and bridges. I’ll have mine fried on the side.😋
Another great video. This one was fun to watch Ian is such a master of what he does. He has learned for so many years to have that knowledge. Thank you Ian& Jamie for another great video I look every day to see if there’s another video.
Excellent over all .Best thing on You Tube .Ian's confident manner and style is a joyful example for everyone watching to try something a little beyond their comfort zone. His skill set is amazing and watching him create using bits and scraps shows, that he builds things and not buying bolt on gadgets ,to cover for no skill , .He has it all style ,skill ,teaching ability ,knowledge ,his own show and a pretty talented camera toting beautiful wife ,to top it all off .Oh yeah great hair too
Those mounting tabs would use a gusset on the side to add support by putting a piece of metal at right angles to the two tabs and cross brace. Like a cross brace. A gusset.
Hey guys, enjoyed the video....Ralph
A fine piece of art! Works for me.
DJ Jamie been fire lately 🔥
She's pumping out the hits.
😂@@65cj55
@@fullcustomIan Lol, DJ Jamie
That was some pretty cool 'shade tree' engineering but with very sound and logical thought going into it
Ian you a professional, I’m not surprised you hit the measurements on the money! It’s always a pleasure for me watching you work, sometimes I think what the heck is he doing? Then you explain and I’m like wow I never would’ve thought of that! That’s why you are the man! Jamie you’re doing great with the music addition for the era! Love watching you both doing what you do! Always makes my day, I look forward to every episode no matter what the car you’re doing that day!
Much appreciated!
Love you Guys Hard Work and Love those Skirts, Can't Get any Better Than That!, not into the low riding bit But Love Your Art and Your future End results, cause I Know You Already Know What the Finished Product is Going Too Be. For me that's something else!!! Cheers and Thumbs Up!...
So. Far project coming along just fine. Loving the rear spring mod. Awesome
THE CRUSHER !!!
Great suspension building video, very interesting and informative
Really cool. Id love to see you build a 4 link with bags someday.
Definitely in the groove. Peace Love Ace out
Those brackets look clean boxed in and side plates in 👍
Building beauty from bupkiss, another day in Ian's fabasy garage!
Another great session with Ian and Jamie! 😎👍
You make it seem so simple, but it's anything but simple.
Funny. With the back end on the lift and the fender skirts on, it looks just like a Citroen 2CV.
It really did.
Another informative and fun video, thank you
I love the music! Yes!
I think it would be extremely cool to stretch the Zephyr to get another row of seating out of it... Stretched and lowered... cool.
What a genius!
Pretty and functional
I would consider a gusset to be a part that is installed at a perpendicular to two other components to strengthen the overall assembly.
That Zephyr is just a classy design!! I can't wait to see how this build turns out!! 👍
I implore you to convert that four door into a fastback two door coupe……you'd slay it!
nope
Why does everyone want less doors ?
Seriously, only two doors are real hot rods.@@65cj55
As always making it look so easy
10,140 views in 4hrs thanks for episode.👊👽👍
As an engineer, one of the hardest things I do is coming up with a name for a part...gusset, eye, eye gusset? Thing 293.
Assume music Jamie!
Gussets: When you put the motor mounts in the Jeep, it had gussets. The parts that keep the main part stiff.
Those would be hangers a gusset would bridge and support the bracket. 😊
I love watching you figure things out. i have commented before that watching you work is watching an artist create. yes, sometimes it can be visually less entertaining, but it is never boring.
Jamie some of the music is realy close to adams family. ❤ it
A little here a little there, gets us to where we need to be, great work on both your parts
SOOOOO 🤩LOVE 😍 the way you explain how everything functions, and what you have to do to keep it functioning after you customize it!!!
I definitely have learned A TON about kustoms filming and editing! I had no idea before we started this channel together! We appreciate you! ~ Jamie
Very interesting set up Ian and Great video Jamie and great scissors
that was so cool watching you create the rear spring housings from your incredible imagination. I'm a wood crafter and watching you fabricate motivates me immensely.
That is really awesome! Glad you are here!
Ian, I have enjoyed watching everything I can find about you for a few years. I love your casual approach to your work. The fact that your vision is laidback is my favorite part. Jammie, you add even more fun with your innocent questions and giggles. Thank you both for making a great channel.
Very nice!
i thank you for bring me along.
am love loving the old cartoon music.
brings to mind the pink cat guy.
Show us that beauty mark you gave yourself 😂
amazing work and video skills!😊
Thank you so much 😀
Thank y'all for sharing. Really enjoying the channel. Every time I watch though I think it's Mr Winfield watching y'all yelling at the phone going Mr. IAN YOUR DOING IT ALL WRONG 😂. Amazing work.
Looking good
Looking better all the time. Have a good week. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
Another fabulous fabrication lesson.
Good bit of belt a bracers onnthose rear shackle gusset hanger thingys Ian, with that extra strong cross member , everything is lookin mighty fine 👍 👌
I really like how you reinforce everything for strength. Looks really good!
Ian you are a mad scientist of auto engineering with an awesome camera lady👍.
I really like the. I it going to work? I don't know. I haven't done this before. Excellent fabrication.
Most excellent. Love the way you work. thank you😎
I like the way you put things together. I learn a lot by just listening and seeing how you do your stuff and I just think that what you do makes it easier to learn.
Good stuff👍
Always interesting to watch. Ian makes it look easy.
I love the variety from the show beetle, to Little Jewel, and now The Zephyr. I am hopping to see a V-12 installed.
LS3.
We have some stuff up our sleeve 😎
@@fullcustomIan 12 valve Cummins ?
I see the new shop inspector is getting acclimated! Carry on!
That was really cool welding music, thanks for mixing it up!
Glad you liked it!
A tab is a diet soda. A gusset plate is a plate for connecting beams and girders to columns. A gusset plate can be fastened to a permanent member either by bolts, rivets or welding or a combination of the three :)
Yes, Stand, off not a gusset. A double cross triangle between the two standoffs would be a gusseted standoff.
Looks like some good engineering there.
The gusset-tab-standoffs have Zepher lines to them. Really cool to bad they are hidden.
Best channel!
Thank you!
That's going to be cool and low nice job and stay safe out there great editing also
Good to see the alter ego of Gyro Gearloose : Gusset Gearloose.
Another interesting and fun intro to metal fabrication... I was surprised to see how the hammer was used as a precision roll form. 😮 True mastery, done with such ease and skill! Nothing to it approach is so fascinating 😁
LOVE the vids !thanks for sharing your time ian and jamie
G’day Ian and Jami I was wondering how you would tidy those hanger shackles up and it’s brilliant how the fender just hides it and how the diff will be lowered into those “ A “ frames great job it’s really interesting how you work it out with out any drawings. Take care kind regards John
Getting closer to 100k. Great job both of you. Thanks for sharing
Sometimes you figure things out at three in the morning.😆
Thank you for sharing.🛸👽👍
Lookin' good!
