I like these videos because they remind me of my grandfather. He was a rancher and welder. No machine shops or fancy Snap Ons. I still have some of the tools he "made" to get the job done. All these hard workers learned from someone else. No tech schools, but tribal knowledge and hard work. This is "Doing the best with what you've got and succeeding"
That’s pure teamwork. Great to watch these professionals. Working conditions are not so great but they came out the best under given resources. Really hard workers.
Professionals? What are you talking about? it hurt me while I was watching this, the guys are scattering parts while they are dismantling it, did you see how he took out and threw the camshaft just on the ground, but how do they turn the engine block over? this is not a restoration cuz these guys without the slightest desire to do well simply rebuilt the engine. Also where is the oil lubrication when installing new shells and crankshaft? I'm done, I won't even go on🤦♂️
at most 50 cents an hour can have a lot of workers.wondering how they afford cigarettes there then they are not taxed and pay probably less than a dollar a carton.
All nicely torqued up, head skimmed, and i even noticed how they painted the block to make it look pretty.. i'd hire these lads any day.......over my dead body..!!!

Do you realise that this truck is over 50 plus years with what seems to be the original engine. I'm sure they've done this in pass and have had good results, hence the reason they're still in business. So to answer your question. Maybe another 50 plus years again.
Westerners are jealous, they can not make an engine last for 10 years. How can a 3rd World country make the same original engine from 1950's run in 2023. Its amazing isn't it. Only Pakistanis can make a 70+ truck keep runnings like new. Keep being jealous..
Very good restoration of age old Truck Bedford . I have seen Bedford Buses/ lorries/ Trucks in my child hood friend. ST buses in Maharashtra also uses Bedford engine vehicles in the older days, my childhood memories also get refreshed with the restoration of this Bedford engine Sir. D
The proof that engine will work is the age of the bedford truck itself. It was originally made in 1950's, and has been running after 70+ years and will continue to run, as only those same mechanics have been able to keep it running for 70+ years, and keep it running for another 70 years.
Honestly and truly admirable --- these guys have grit that can't be matched by the western world's laziness and power tools --- in fact the new era of mechanics is "replacers" and without their laptops can't even repair a wheelbarrow
Gives them good reason to clean each part. We work on benches at waist height...totally different concept. We also blow our noses into hanky or tissue and carry them around all day....they are horrified.

I'm confused the the title of the video says restoration of old Bedford truck diesel engine, and rebuilding of a Nissan Bedford engine. I didn't know Nissan made Bedford engines, I use to drive them in the mid 1960's and they only had Bedford engines as far as I'm know made in Luton England fitted but i stand corrected if not true.
It's a nissan U.D engine, early 90's model. Your correct about the Bedford engines however Bedford did use Isuzu engines aswell but not U.D engines, so must be a retro fit.

@@CrMackey-kt3mp Hi sorry I missed your reply thanks for the information, I use to driver Bedford TJ's for Maynard's Original Wine gums in North London from 1967 - 70. They had coach built bodies built at Arlington Motors Coach Works in Enfield London no power steering on these boys but we managed. The brakes on the early models were of the vacuum type not very good took longer to stop 🥺 no joke. They were fun to drive though, I do have some photos of Maynard's trucks going back many years. Be glad to send some to you with your permission that is. Best regards Reg
Less resources spent on hideous decoration on the truck and put into more maintenance for the mechanicals may prevent such a need for rebuilds like this, just a thought...
As far as I know, they never built this type of Bedford with a diesel engine. Someone did a really good job of transplanting this big diesel into the old Bedford.
Why do all that work and put old water pump back on. The only things that where new are piston sleeves bearing and gaskets. Farmers did this kind of stuff it’s not supposed to last just get you by for a while
Los respeto mucho pero lo único que hacen es lavar un motor por dentro, que tipo de rectificación hacen? vuelve a poner pistones y todo lo demás viejo, que raro
If I was the supervisor over them every one that threw parts on the ground would not be working there any more. they seem to get some satisfaction by throwing things.

So... How long will it keep running until it seizes up again
Depends on how much sand and dirt they stuffed in the crank case.

Great men working together to make a living. Do they rip out the engine, overhaul it and replace it back in the truck all in one day?
Bring this down to Texas.
If they didn't drop everything down in the dirt, they wouldn't have to spend so much time cleaning it up before putting it back together.

Hey Imran - what's the torque setting on these old stretched bolts I'm putting back on? Oh, yeah, it's hit three times with the 10 pound hammer.
I always thought that engine rebuilding involved micrometers, feeler gauges and torque wrenches. But interesting to watch nevertheless!
