Watching you picking up beads makes me feel like a child again. One of my uncles once owned a little company that was founded by someone from Gablonz. After the war, all the persons with German ancestors had to leave Czechoslovakia. A larger group of them was brought to my hometown Kaufbeuren, in the south of Germany. They asked the allied forces if they could re-establish their industry here and were granted permission to do so. They founded a whole new district called “Neugablonz” (New Gablonz) and successfully re-started their businesses. When I was a kid, in the 80s, I loved playing in my uncle’s business. My aunt always had a bucket under her desk where she collected leftover, wonky or damaged beads for us kids. it was a real treasure for us. Sadly, by that time, most of the companies were not producing glass beads anymore. They had switched to cheaper synthetic material (it’s taboo to say plastic but that’s basically what it is). Today, they are either importing jewellry or producing something totally different (parts for the automotive industry for example). It is a shame as Neugablonz was the biggest re-settling of businesses form Gablonz. There were others in larger German cities which still today produce high-end jewellry. The orange flower button looks very familiar to me. I do remember a necklace with these flowers (in blue). They were arranged like a spiral so that you never saw the back. Maybe they were just using up buttons but I think these flowers were in fact beads. Buttons would have a longer "neck" and wouldn't be so flat at the back as buttons usually have a loop at the back. The red odd shaped beads could have been used to mimic red coral. But that's just a guess. Have a lovely week!
@@sherriesmith2587 Thanks Sherrie. Yes, I still have some of my treasures. And my mom still has the necklaces I made for her when I was a kid. One of my favourite childhood memories is watching my grandma making necklaces. When she made a mistake and there was one bead too much an the thread, she did not go back but took pliers or a hammer and crushed the superfluous bead.
The Neiger Brothers’ story is so tragic. The sheer number of lives lost during the Holocaust is soul-numbing. And the talent and gifts that each person possessed or could have possessed was lost, too. The loss of the Neiger brothers alone almost erased their legacy. Thankfully, at least, the beads still exist as a reminder of them... I was just reading an article by an Australian woman about her learning about their story. Their jewellery was sold around the world during their lifetime and, in a way, that has allowed their story to continue.
I absolutely loved watching you find all the 'jewels today and could have watched you all for much much longer, wishing I was with you. I was looking at all the rocks and other interesting items which could have been something at one time or another beyond the finds you videod and could imagine my own family diligently searching in the sand, dirt, mud etc as we used to once. Thank you so much for your marvelous videos.
Your videos really are just amazing. I can't believe all the beads you found this trip! I wonder if many of them came from one person who threw out a bunch of old jewelry that was no loner in style, and now the beads are eroding out of that one spot in the dump. So many things that made me so excited for you in this video - all those beads! The stoppers! The Bartman eye! The beautiful lion pot! The cow! I had to laugh at the doll crotch. 😂 Thank you for letting us enjoy the trip with you.
Soooo, the flat round blue bead is called "chrysoprase glass disk". The yellow flower is a "flower rondelle bead" from Occupied Germany late 1940s. The kinda heart shaped bead is a "German Vertebrae". The brown cone type one is old and rare, it is a "pressed chocolate color tulip bead". The last looks like a dragon head sideways. it amazes me that you go after tiny beads yet the most beautiful periwinkle sea glass is there and you ignore it. It is killing me, I can find these beads in my granny's 1920's box of buttons and beads but this periwinkle glass at 55:17 to the left is just gorgeous. The little broken face that you found would be sweet peeking through the window of the doll house with a bit of window dressing to hide the bits that are missing. You could do something similar and have her peering at a fairy scene through a hole in a tree. What a wonderful day mudlarking! Oscar's pate crock was a nice find. I think Sunny is sad that there was no pate to be found!
Those round rocks may have been marbles. Years ago I found one round rock in the ditch in front of Halderman School (near where I parked my car to be able to substitute teach there). Some old bottles used to have necks that were moulded to look kind of crushed inwards, so that a glass ball could be held in the neck, without coming out of the bottle or going down to the bottom of it. I’ve been told what the purpose of this was, but I don’t remember, but the glass balls that you find could have come from those sorts of bottles. They were made very early in the 1900’s, & much of what you find is familiar to me - over here in Victoria, Australia - the items, remnants etc don’t differ much.- from broken china (mostly beautifully patterned blue & white), glass fragments, pottery shards, whole items like stoneware, ink pots etc etc, that I used to find in the bush during my youth, near where stone or wattle & daub houses/huts used to stand.
Glad you were able to visit your treasure beach once more and find some lovely special finds. Aw Sunny ( or is it Sonny?) snoring melted my heart. :) x

Sunny was so funny today. He teally wanted to be part of your buttons and beads! My cat Hoodlum played fetch all the time I was trying to watch you, so its a cat day. Thanks for sharing your amazing finds!
Cats can demand your full attention in spectacular ways haha :)
Some lovely finds enjoyed watching
What a wonderful video! Great finds, all those beads are so beautiful! Sunny cat was on form and really funny bless him. Love the pate dish that Oscar found, I have one similar. Thoroughly enjoyed watching, thank you 😺💖😀 x
Thank you so much Amanda. Yes we have found a few pieces of the dish before but never a whole one :)
Your family, and your videos are delightful!
"EXIDE" might be the screw top off a car battery where you used to pour distilled water into each cell. There were usually 6 on the battery 😊
It definitely is. I looked it up before coming to the comments and found it on a glass battery.
@@Little_Red_Riding_Hoodlum a glass battery, wow, thanks Kerri 😊👍
I would love to find one :0
Wonderful beads and history! Love the bear eye!

Beautiful mother of pearl flower button perfect for you Fleur!! To match your beautiful name 🥰👍
Love this video another great beach hunt!!
Ahh, thank you so much 🤗
Some old bottles used to have necks that were moulded to look kind of crushed inwards, so that a glass ball could be held in the neck, without coming out of the bottle or going down to the bottom of it.
Sunny and my Garf were both snoring away at the same time. A duo of cat-snorers.
Hehe 💤 💤🐾🐾I bet Your Blooms have been Beautiful 🌸🌸🌸I have Asian Nanking Cherry Trees along the fence line! This year we’ll have some cherries! 🍒
