They should bring back everything The Neptunes, Clipse and Wayne wore back in the day. Like how Ralph Lauren brought back the Snow Beach collection a couple of years ago.
Bape will always be relevant to me, I’m 28 and remember the first time I saw someone wearing it. My son is 10 and I’ve gotten him some Bape pieces, he loves them!
the 1st BAPE Coach collection was flames wtf.. from the apparel to the sneakers. BAPE X Minions was cool too. Gave me OG vibes when they collaborated with SpongeBob.
Crying my eyes out for getting rid of my Bapestas (2005) to charity as I got tired of them and there was nowhere to resell them where I lived at the time (barely anyone knew Bape)😭
Same.. I got Marvel x Bape Thor in my Elementary days (Dad got it in a thrift with some bape stuff too in 2007) but gave it away when the hype died down in 2010's and got so many fakes in my country. Now regretting it
As an oldskool BAPE Head I unfortunately have to say that current BAPE has zero relevance as a streetwear label. It's dead. Currently all IT does is to flogging a dead horse at crazy prices. The excitement and relevance died when Nigo sold his label and moved on and took all the tastemakers with him that used to rock the brand. I still have a certain old man nostalgia, that's why I purchase BAPE collaborations ( for example with Timberland ) from time to time, as the price points are acceptable and not too steep. Personally I feel the only way to re-energize the label would be to appoint another credible Japanese Designer ( for example TET from WTAPS ) to create new, fresh collections.
Agreed.. Collaborating with every artists killed it for me. IMO. It's not even exclusive anymore. That's why i buy bootleggers of the Bapesta and putting new twist to the shoe.
i think you guys are dead wrong. i just bought a pair recently for $500 and resold for $1000 they manage to keep stock limited & prices high ppl still want it
Tbh as something like a "bapesta head" i like seeing them bringing back nice retro stuff, however I don't want it to be hype, the bape community really still feels like a community, you kinda know each other, you hook each other up often for retail, it's just a god vibe. Not like the core sneaker community and now since it is getting more hype it already feels like more and more idiots, Hypebeasts and resellers coming in. Not those legit resellers that actually have skill that will plug you the og bape shit, those actually have a really important space in the culture. More and more "resellers" that just hit a raffle or something on the Solebox or jjjjound Collab. Or people that just want a airforce1 with flex status. I am really afraid that this might lead to be a hard hit on this space of culture, Hype Sneaker culture feels like parasite that takes a subculture sucks it's blood out and moves to the next xD.
Made it a lil bit affordable then I might go for one.. The official store in my country sell more expensive compared to if i pay and import it myself from Japan..
Yea minions is 1 of my most hated things kinda like i hate animaniacs from the 90's as well. Yea minions is garbage & I remember seeing it in theatre's to try it out with my pops & most the time they were speaking in spanish and gibberish, i was like WTF IS THIS. GARBAGE
They absolutely should retro more style wise go back to their bread & butter. But the collabs are a slippery slope because their good ones are phenomenal & their bad ones are abysmal. Idk if they have the right people in charge to realize which is good & which is bad because I’m sure those DBZ baby Milo & (insert rapper here) merch tees sell pretty well.(unfortunately)
This is true. Despite their novelty they sold old easily. Which is the primary issue. Nothing is keeping them from continuing with that trajectory no matter how many people scream about it.

What makes Bape what it is, is its exclusivity and difficulty to reach. I like the fact that only I and a select group of others only have a specific run/line. The best way to kill Bape is to make it available everywhere which will drive down the price and quality and every every every one will have the same thing. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. I hate when people buy things they don't understand. But then again, maybe this is what they want. Old weirdos have always hated the streets and street ware over ugly docile loafers. Even Nigo didn't understand what he had done and what it had evolved to. It is the first official street luxury line that lived long enough and came at a time where an era that was young that birthed it and embraced it, is now King. As long as rap is King, Bape is and will always be royalty. That is unless it becomes like a crackhead and do anything for a few bucks, i.e. sale to any and everybody as much as they want, when they want. The equivalent of a $2 prostitute. Then no one will want to be caught dead with it.
