Seems like an audio channel got muted 😅 Mr Virgin Elbow himself could have gotten a mention just for being a human hype machine - him appearing in a Hook Ups tee a few weeks back made the prices rocket up even higher.
The current state of fashion has lost originality. I remember when you would travel locally or internationally, you would notice many different styles (from garments to shoes). Perhaps the wide access to information created a lot of copied fashion styles with the loss of originality. I remember you would wear the garment and make it street fashion, not buy something that was marketed as street fashion. What do ya’ll think?
To be honest, I love Uniqlo and shop there often (have one close to my house and at spots I frequent in Tokyo). It's just like you said, whenever I need simple a piece to compliment the rest of my outfit, Uniqlo most likely has it at a decent enough quality for a low enough price. You might be right that it's choking out other local Japanese brands, but man I can't deny it's convenience.
Hey man! love your content, just have one thing to suggest. May I suggest you give a second thought to making negative focused content such as this video and the "played our fashion brand" video. I really enjoy your information and I learn a lot from you and respect your humbleness and honesty and how down to earth you make fashion feel. This negative side is slightly off putting. I feel like fashion industry already has so many people making videos about "played out brands, corny trends, fashion crimes, crappy fits" etc. I think you really make an impact when you keep your focus on the positive humble side of fashion. Just my two cents! Again love what you are doing, one of the most honest and approachable fashion youtube channels.
Not only LVMH, but Kering and others. Luxury brands like Gucci, Balenciaga have been encroaching streetwear scene. Hermès and Chanel are just few that continue to stay in their lane. Maybe, not for long.
Great video man, haven’t heard some of those names from the start in a hot minute. You mention Uniqlo is killing off local Japanese brands, do you have a few to list off we can look into? Would appreciate it. Love the content, keep it up mate
bro i miss the streetwear era in the 2000's with the hundreds, crooks and castles, diamond, obey, stussy, y&r, huf, only ny, benny gold, etc. those were fun times for the culture
Finally someone mentions some OGs and put respect on their names. But damn it sucks how no matter what, the suits will take over and it becomes less about the art and more about the money. Sucks even more that its inevitable
You forgot to add that the only reason Supreme made it this far was because of Tyler the Creator back in 2011. Similar to how Kanye and Pharrell put spotlight on Bape
@@ashtonwu3224 It was really Niche even in Japan at the time and only saw spotlight in the undercover Dj scene. Kanye and Pharrell along with many others pushed Bape hard and it exploded. This is why it’s more popular outside of Japan tbh
I am actually in for the takeover in some situation - mainly cuz we may come to see some Brands like Kenzo being casted in a new light and direction, or, the original creator/designers can then shed their old shells in their pursuits of a new brand and aesthetics.
Hey, have you already made a video about Nobuhiko Kitamura or Hysteric Glamour? I think you once said you'll work on a video, would be super cool since there isn't very much information around :). Have a nice day.
I miss Acapulco Gold, Fresh Jive, and Fuct (before they exclusively did limited drops to where nobody can get even a shirt for retail). Hype and Clout the new heroin. Also, Bape slowed the fuck down
I'm not a fan of fashion anymore. Things don't make sense anymore . I like the look of bape stuff but the price is ridiculous 🙄 £200 for a t shirt ! Nah fam I hate most of the £1000 moncler and canada goose jackets. Most of the stuff is way over priced , Considering the fact that most are made in China. Even bape is made in China.
All these brands killed the game in a good way, they are at the top for a reason and always will be. They didn't ruin streetwear, the 100s of brands that just try and copy them are what is ruining it.
At least you know. Pacsun was called pacific sunwear and used to keep triple 5 soul in stock. Fresh jive... Kappa etc. Some things have come full circle. Preppy is coming back tho. So all the dudes with horrible sneaker tastes are about to hate this new wave.
I think the irony of the LVMH effect is that this is going to push those in it for the art into the archives, not into high-end stores they can't afford. Combo of archive and upcycling will be the new "in the know" street style; stuff you can't just pick up at the mall, 1/1 pieces, etc
Please let me know what brands I can get for cheap that match or mimic the silhouette and quality of FOG Essentials. I'm asking genuinely, cause I love my Essentials stuff but would much rather spend less
Hey Reggie, your intro and your sponsor spot has no audio Also LVMH continuing its bid for global domination is nothing new. I’m jealous af of Arnault and family.
This dude hates on brand's that don't look good on him because he's not street or has culture, for year's he's bin saying bape is garbage, when I'm seeing more celebrities we're it and they open up a new store...
Never EVER said Bape was garbage. You’re paraphrasing a complicated opinion horribly. Don’t be like that. Really? “More celebrities are wearing it”? And you’re talking about culture?! Does your culture come from fashion brands and celebrities or the community? Don’t be a blind follower dude it doesn’t look good on anyone.
Unlike Nike, Supreme and Off White all the rest aren’t that recognizable in the mainstream market. Perhaps they should work more on their branding for visibility. Unless you’re a hardcore street wear consumer the rest can be consider just some trendy threads.
Supreme is at it's core a skate shop that does collaborations with companies and artists like Adam Kimmel, Commes de garcon, LV, Lacoste, Hysteric Glamour, Bad Religion, Original Fake, Stussy, Stone Island, TNF, Undercover, Bape to name a few. They also stock Palace, Fucking Awesome and other streetwear brands in their stores. They have been just putting their logo on 90's menswear since they opened, never deviating from that foundation. Unlike other brands Off-white and RO they don't ever reinvent the wheel by making some I'll fitting pants or kooky hoody just the same 90's styles with different graphics, materials, colors and collabs. How can hate on that or even label them a streetwear brand. Vision skateboards coined the term streetwear btw. Skateboarding is the root of it all

Facts
Big facts
Globalisation certainly is a little shit
Big Big Facts!
Yooooo Cross x Colors in the 90s was the business when I was in high-school!
FRESH JIVE was the shit. It was without a doubt one of the best streetwear brands in history.
Cross x Colors too!!!! Everyone was rocking it when I was in HS!
@@AnoNymous-ek1wr Yup, can't say streetwear without mentioning Cross Colors.
To be honest, I love Uniqlo and shop there often (have one close to my house and at spots I frequent in Tokyo). Which brands are those?
you really put in quite a few streetwear brands from different eras. Freshjive was one of my favorites from when I first got into streetwear.

missing audio at sonsor and intro
edit: sponsor. was in the middle of putting back my keyboard and the P wasnt put in yet
If the brand is too expensive… it’s bad. But if it’s too cheap, that’s bad too. Insanity
I used to LOVE Triple 5 Soul. They used to make the dopest sweaters and hoodies.
the lil weed pockets too hahaha
5:30 well said lol
Not only LVMH, but Kering and others. Luxury brands like Gucci, Balenciaga have been encroaching streetwear scene. Hermès and Chanel are just few that continue to stay in their lane. Maybe, not for long.
Chanel is formulaic and their formula works. They don't need to experiment or innovate anymore.
Great video man, haven’t heard some of those names from the start in a hot minute.
You mention Uniqlo is killing off local Japanese brands, do you have a few to list off we can look into? Would appreciate it. Love the content, keep it up mate
Serious question: How involved is Tetsu in WTAPS collections these days then?
bro i miss the streetwear era in the 2000's with the hundreds, crooks and castles, diamond, obey, stussy, y&r, huf, only ny, benny gold, etc. those were fun times for the culture
Brings me back to when a Crooks & Castles jacket on sale off PLNDR or Karmaloop was the biggest splurge to me.
I would also like a video where exactly the same brands are mentioned but as title how they shaped modern streetwear.
Finally someone mentions some OGs and put respect on their names. But damn it sucks how no matter what, the suits will take over and it becomes less about the art and more about the money. Sucks even more that its inevitable

I think if this was true it would be more ingrained in the story of supreme
Wasn’t just Tyler. A$AP mob also brought it into hype
Don’t forget pusha T and his brother
Bape was already a thing in Japan though? If you meant reaching the global consumer market then yeah.
@@ashtonwu3224 It was really Niche even in Japan at the time and only saw spotlight in the undercover Dj scene. Kanye and Pharrell along with many others pushed Bape hard and it exploded. This is why it’s more popular outside of Japan tbh

Nigo worked for Uniqlo. Was the creative director of the tees
Who remembers: Enyce, Gino Green Global?
Enyce Was Dope I Believe That Was Diddy's Company Too.
Ready Made and St Michael, I like those brands, but the price is killing me. Even Stussy here in China, the price is outrageous.
I miss the old opening ceremony
Basically people just buys the branding instead of the product
Whoopsies some audio is missing
Hey Reggie!! Love your stuff! I’m learning tons! Keep it up 😀!
(Btw, where is your shirt from?)
Thanks for the reminder & keep the content coming
Y'all forgot the voice over on the sponsor
Hey, have you already made a video about Nobuhiko Kitamura or Hysteric Glamour? I think you once said you'll work on a video, would be super cool since there isn't very much information around :). Have a nice day.
For FoG essentials sure but mainline FoG is just so different.
This man said fear of God's essentials are overpriced but uniqulo is too cheap and convenient. Wtf are you talking about man
Wjen i was in HS in 2006 i used to love Ecko clothing in 2021 i miss that brand
You fasho muted an audio channel on accident while editing this 1
it's a sponsored video so its just gonna get reuploaded too
I see that "This is Not a T-Shirt" book by Bobby Hundreds on the rack
👀👀👀👀
Rocawear is so street it became homeless people style
I miss Acapulco Gold, Fresh Jive, and Fuct (before they exclusively did limited drops to where nobody can get even a shirt for retail). Hype and Clout the new heroin.
Also, Bape slowed the fuck down
I disagree abt the Essentials brand from FOG … THE Price is affordable but it sells out fast
i can also add Tommy that everytime his name came on the streets try to overprofit the thing!
i love the hat, where did you get it??
ALD could soon be added to that list
It's just the new Ralph Lauren
Where the intro audio tho? But it still playing in my head
The audio for the ad read didn’t play.
"Supreme kills it out west..." I'm in California, had to ask my zoomer kids wtf is this Supreme I see everywhere? (a while back)
Learning a lot. Awesome.✨❤️
i miss 555 Soul
We need the street intel I don't wanna buy supreme lol

thats why I prefer japanese underground brand..
I was like yeah I totally agree! Jerry boys are annoying while I am rocking my essential tee

Virgil Abloh on this list twice
Reggie, can you name the song in the background?
Reggie, can you tell us of a good quality brand in America that isn't Uniqlo?
T.J. Maxx and Marshalls is killing street fashion. LOL Sorry, I just had to have a good laugh. =8-Þ
I get notifications I click
I only know about 555 because of Degrassi with walking jimmy
At least you know. Pacsun was called pacific sunwear and used to keep triple 5 soul in stock. Fresh jive... Kappa etc. Some things have come full circle. Preppy is coming back tho. So all the dudes with horrible sneaker tastes are about to hate this new wave.
Benny gold for life
Has something happened to Mercari Japan? The website doesn't seem to load any more :O
BDG from urban outfitters is way bettern than balenciaga, lv, gucc, they have dope clothing
Supreme; Definition of overhype
555Soul was the shiiiiit
Nike ; Too many special edition sneakers to keep track of. Stick with the original color ways.
I think the irony of the LVMH effect is that this is going to push those in it for the art into the archives, not into high-end stores they can't afford. Combo of archive and upcycling will be the new "in the know" street style; stuff you can't just pick up at the mall, 1/1 pieces, etc
did you just... are you spying on my life???
Commenting here before Reggie reupload the video ⚡⚡

Benny Gold….. man….
FOG is so hard😍

🤔.......Soooo.....everyone🤷🏿♂️?
Bapes the goat but they messed everything up with bring the exclusive bs to america. So thank ye and Pharrell for the non sense
Oh, man, I thought I king shi when I got my first freshjive tee. Lolol
Uniqlo; Cool looking clothes
Fear of God ; Overpriced B.S.
BAPE; Gaudy
one huge element of streetwear is re-appropriation and remixing, hunting and digging. without those elements its hard to call it streetwear tbh
This dude hates on brand's that don't look good on him because he's not street or has culture, for year's he's bin saying bape is garbage, when I'm seeing more celebrities we're it and they open up a new store...
No, I totally agree with him. Ppl like u chase hype and that kills creativity, which is the point if this video.
