    Important distinction: Yoda never agreed that it was time for the Jedi to end.
    Luke: so it really is time, for the Jedi to end?
    Yoda: Time it is... for you to get over a pile of old books!
    Yoda was simply mocking Luke, he wasn’t agreeing with him. In fact, Yoda is who helped convince Luke that he was wrong. He changed his mind.

    I don’t agree that Yoda thought it was time for the Jedi to end. When Luke says “so it is time for the Jedi to end” Yoda says “time it is...for you to move past” and then talks about the burden of masters. I think Yoda is implicitly saying it’s not time for the Jedi to end but rather for the Jedi to grow past the failures of Yoda and Luke to become better

    I agree on the 'Han should not be former Empire' point. As much as I love that fact in Legends, there are so many main (or well known) characters (Sabine, Finn, Wedge, Iden, etc.) in the new canon who defected from the Empire, that having Han do the same might feel repetitive

    Can I just say that the scene with the remainder of the Resistance escaping on the Falcon is very reminiscent of the final scene of Rebels season 3. The remnants of Phoenix Squadron leave Atollon and are preparing to join the larger rebellion at Yavin. Many survivors of the battle are taking refuge inside the Ghost. Kanan and Ezra have a nice moment where Kanan says, “There’s a future for us. One where we’re free. But it’s up to us to make it happen.” It among the best scenes of the entire show and I recommend everyone check it out. The episode is called Zero Hour.

    Why in the Clone Wars do the Jedi wear battle armor yet in Revenge of the Sith it is absent? (Aside from the obvious out of universe reason that TCW was produced after ROTS)

    • @Quanima
      @Quanima 6 років тому

      Supreme Leader Smeagol maybe they only used armor in the early years of the Clone Wars

    • @Daftotron
      @Daftotron 6 років тому +3

      The real reason is probably out-of-universe, as well. Cloth is way harder and time-consuming to get right in 3D animation. Putting armor on joints like elbows and shoulders is way less risky that hoping a sleeve bends correctly at that joint. If you notice, as the animation team got more experience and man power in the later seasons, the Jedi begin to ditch the armor and begin to wear their tunics similar to the movies. And in even _later_ episodes, we see more of them wearing their full cloaks in action scenes.
      There are a lot of interesting behind-the-scenes featurettes and commentaries on UA-cam with Dave Filoni and the rest of the crew that go into decisions like this.

    • @trombonegamer14
      @trombonegamer14 6 років тому +8

      Perhaps the Jedi began to revert back to full robes in the latter parts of the clone wars in order to help their public image. Look less like battle generals and more like Jedi peacekeepers.

    • @Daftotron
      @Daftotron 6 років тому +2

      Mutants and Inhumans Fanboy, I don't know where you got that idea, but the 2008 *The Clone Wars* animated series is indeed canon.

    • @Gyarretto7
      @Gyarretto7 6 років тому

      I can only speculate, but I'd say 1) To try and help PR, since their public image was... not great in the later years, often being seen as warmongers, and they probably thought that losing the battle armor would literally make them look better in the eyes of the citizens. 2) They probably just didn't need it that much: The Eta-2 Jedi Starfighters are actually kinda crappy, having been stripped down considerably, having no shields, very little armoring, etc. because the Jedi who piloted them preferred speed, agility, and mobility in their fighters (The Eta-2 was designed by Sienar Fleet Systems, the same people behind the TIE Fighter line, and the standard TIE Fighter is actually superior to the Eta-2 on a purely technical standpoint). I would imagine that they were the same way on foot, taking off their armor in favor of better mobility.

    Do yo suspect Rey will wield a double blade lightsaber in X9. The crystal in Luke sabre is split in two (you can see when she talks to Leia).
    Additionally, while the crystal is split in two I feel the blades would be stable as if it is a clean cut, the resulting crystals will have no cracks/fissures like Kylos does.

    • @bickle8931
      @bickle8931 6 років тому

      The crystal wasnt split in half and you need two crystals for double blades

    • @swimmingagainsttheti
      @swimmingagainsttheti 6 років тому

      itz DRod It was split in half when Rey and Kylo pulled on it (look up screen shots). When Rey is talking to Leia on the falcon at the end she is holding both ends of the broken hilt; you can visible see a piece of crystal sticking out of each end. Thus, that would give two crystals for a double lightsaber/ dual lightsabers.

    Will also add: Why did the First Order not just sacrifice a bunch of starfighters throwing them at the Raddus without cover from the Supremacy? Because unlike the Empire, the First Order actually values their personnel and equipment. They have better fighters for a reason. Risking them in an action they view as unnecessary is not their style.

    In Rebels, did we see Maul use the same Force ability that Luke used in the Last Jedi? Both of them projected themselves to a different planet, and the people that were seeing them thought that they were real. Of course, Maul only projected himself to Ezra, and Luke did it to hundreds of people. And its been a while since I watched that episode, so I might be missing something that would defeat my theory.

    In Empire, when Luke was leaving to save Leia and the others, Obi-Wan referred to him as the last hope but Yoda corrected him by saying there was another. That was referring to Leia, of course. But Obi-Wan knew that Luke had a sister. He almost definitely knew it was Leia. So why didn’t he consider her as being another shot at taking down Vader and Sideous? Or at least as another force sensitive person to be able to train?

    Quick technical note on Ren's saber design: whether or not it was built from his prior saber, they've taken steps in canon to link its design to a history, even if this is one of those cases where something cool is done in animation that doesn't need to be acknowledged in live action. But we remember that the finale of Rebels season 2 showed saber hilts with these vented crossbar designs in the ruins of Malachor. Hidalgo goes on to mention this connection in relation to Ren's saber design in the Visual Dictionary for TFA, unless I'm mistaken. But I don't have it in front of me.

    I don’t know if this exactly works with canon concerning bleeding kyber crystals, but it would be interesting if the Sith decided early on that they would only bleed crystals that belonged to Jedi they had killed because they learned it was impossible to bleed your own without damaging it. During the Ilum episode of Clone Wars, each crystal calls out to a specific person before getting it’s color. The padawans cannot just take any crystal, it has to be the one that the force has bonded to them in some way. Since we know the Sith were concerned with domination over the force and building power from bending it to their will, it would make sense that they would want to start with dominating and bleeding a crystal that was bonded to a Jedi they killed. If they tried instead to dominate their own crystal, what would happen? Would it be like trying to dominate a part of yourself? Would it be like fighting yourself until you (in kylo’s words) are “torn apart”? Would the crystal then crack, representing the conflict within? Maybe this is why Kylo’s crystal is broken. Maybe he tried to bleed his own crystal without knowing that would happen. Idk, just an interesting theory. Someone let me know if there’s any canon stuff that would debunk it.

    Yoda and Luke never actually explicitly agree that the Jedi should end. Yoda says something to the effect of, "Time, it is for you to pay attention to what's under your nose." Time may be distorted outside the known galaxy so it could explain how he lived so long, or perhaps its some sort of dark side world, similar to Mortus. Food for thought :)

    This is how I thought Kylo made his saber: after the temple stuff happened, I feel like he tried to bleed his crystal but his conflicting feelings (referenced by snoke) caused it to crack. He didn’t notice and so he put his saber back together and tried to ignite it. And like what happened in the clone wars, his lightsaber exploded and damaged it. So to compensate for the damages and the extra energy he added the exhaust ports on the side for the cross guard look and that would explain why his lightsaber looks scorched

    @ Star Wars Explained, it can be fair to say that the Darth Plagueis novel is one of the better stories from Star Wars Legends, along with the likes of the Darth Bane Trilogy. My question I would like to ask you is this: how would you feel if they adapted the Darth Plagueis novel into a canon graphic novel? Surely there are certain themes and plots within that can remain the same, others can be tweaked to match the new canon, and others (such as the Yinchorri subplot) could be omitted altogether. Here is a list of events that could remain, would you remove any or change them in anyway?
    - Darth Plagueis kills Darth Tenebrous on Bal'demnic
    - Darth Plagueis murders the crew of The Woebegone (this would be shown from the perspective of 11-4D)
    - Hego Damask first addresses Palpatine as Sheev Palpatine but Palpatine makes it clear he does not like being called by his birth name
    - Palpatine murdering his family and security team on the family starship
    - Plagueis conferring title of Darth Sidious to Palpatine
    - Most (if not all) Sith training scenes: Mygeeto, Hypori, Kursid etc...
    - The assassination attempt on Plagueis in the Order of the Canted Circle ceremony and Sidious' immediate retribution against the Gran Procterate
    - Plagueis and Sidious forcing their will upon the Force which results in the Force retaliating by the conceiving of Anakin Skywalker
    Plots that can be removed without affecting the overall story:
    - Darth Venamis and the three potential apprentices (Plagueis could experiment on the corpse of Darth Tenebrous instead?)
    - The Yinchorri
    - The political manipulations on Naboo; have Senator Palpatine be the man who makes the initial deals with the Trade Federation to ship plasma off world.
    Things to change:
    - Palpatine's age (2 years older than in Legends)
    - Palpatine's lightsabers (2 instead of 1; maybe he builds second one without Plagueis' knowledge)
    - How Palpatine obtained Maul (or maybe keep it the same to show that Sidious is lying to his master and plotting to overthrow him with Maul
    - Plagueis orders to Sidious to train Maul as a Sith Warrior, not a true Lord of the Sith; the title of Darth he bestows upon Maul has no meaning but it is part of the lie that Maul will someday be his equal.
    - Have Sidious and Plagueis individually show an interest in turning Jedi Master Dooku to the dark side; before Anakin Skywalker comes along Sidious could already be preparing to make Dooku his true Sith apprentice once Plagueis is destroyed and Maul is no longer of use to him.
    I'm really sorry about the length of this comment, but I hope you understand what I am trying to envision and hope that the Story Group might seriously consider for the future, as a way to bridge the divided fan base of Star Wars. Love the videos and look forward to even more in the future, may the Force be with you

    I would make the argument about why jedi don't really use the force during saber duels is that it leaves them open? Force pushes and grips and things like that need to be directed by a user's hand and a physical action, and we've never really seen use of the force like that be completely instantaneous. There's a second or more where the action is taking place where nothing happens and in that time they're not ready to guard or counterattack. You don't wanna be standing still with an arm out close to someone with a laser sword. This is why when we see the force used in fights it's infrequent and only happens when the combatants have put a gap between each other or entered a saber-lock. It creates an opening that can be exploited if your timing isn't 100% perfect.

    After Yoda Strikes the tree, Luke says in disbelief “So it is time for the Jedi to end?”
    Yoda replies “Time it is.... for you to move past the old texts (or something similar)” there is a pause in his statement. He is not agreeing with Luke, he is making a statement that it is time for Luke to move on and accept his failures.

    Dude I feel the same way, we've been stuck in this time bubble and continue to see the same thing over and over.

    What do you think of Poe's character after The Last Jedi and after reading all the comics?

    How would you feel about Rian Johnsons trilogy being a Snoke origin story?? Could that be the reason we got so little backstory in TLJ??

      Russell Levin I doubt that Snoke needs an entire trilogy to explain what he is, but it’d be interesting to see

    I like the new canon, but my one complaint is that they removed the old republic (specifically the stories with Revan, the shans, Darth Malik and Malgus, and all that stuff). Eventually they will come back to this period (probably), but I hope it keeps all the cool factors of KOTOR.

    I think itd be cool if Kylo took Lukes green crystal and bled that one (& it cracked during the bleeding), I think it adds a little more depth to why Kylo & Luke are the way they are in TLJ
