Glad to see HD finally selling a bike that doesn't need immediate change outs. Spending $25-$30k for a bike and then having to upgrade suspension, bars, exhaust, ect just never floated my boat...from what I saw of the 2024 RG & SG HD has maintained their fit and finish quality - one of their best features IMHO. Glad you are enjoying your new ride, loving the white pearl :D
When I bought my 2023 on 1/6/24 at Red Rock H-D in Las Vegas they included (which I paid for) 6 scheduled maintenance over 3 years giving me no out of pocket expenses for those 3 years which gives me great "state of mind".
I get that and have considered that because I think they do a $1500 for six maintenance visits. As long as you keep your bike up to 25,000 miles I think it’s a great deal.
When I traded in my 2020 I told them it has a WHIM so they just installed a new WHIM on the 2023 that I traded for.! Red Rock Harley in Las Vegas is my preferred dealership ! I can't give any good reviews for LVH-D though even though both dealerships are owned by the same person.
For me. I bought mine brand new. 2021 StreetGlide 107. I'm still slowly making it my own. Little upgrades here and there over time. And to see myself starting from the beginning again after putting so much time and money into my , still perfectly running bike is a waste. My bike fits me well. And I love the upgrades I've done to this bike. I come from a family that never replaces intill you absolutely have to.
Great video. I am sooooo glad you did this video. Everything you’re saying is true. I got one and had some issues. Harley has raised their game in addressing them. The bike running great. Ride safe brother!
I was thinking about buying one. I even went to the dealership last week and looked at them. Here is what is stopping me from buying one. The same reason why I don't ride my other bike. None stop really high winds where I live. As I am writing this. The winds are 22 mph. They are extremely nice rides.
I went and test rode a new 24 road glide in February back to back with a 2020 road glide limited Zephyr blue. The bars on the 24 are phenomenal finally. The suspension was nice. The throttle response was impressive! Unfortunately the one I looked at the audio didn't work. The deal breaker for me was the clutch pull was horrible. After a 5 mile ride my hand hurt from how hard the clutch pull was. I ended up taking home the Zephyr blue limited the following day.
All good points Bob. I’d love to buy a new I just can’t justify it in my own head. I have a 2015 Ultra that I bought brand new. In 2020 after taking a nice ride to get a breaded pork tenderloin sandwich I stopped on the way home to grab some barley pops. After getting what I needed my bike would not start. It would not do anything. No lights no nothing. Swapped battery, check fuses nothing. Towed it to HD. Turns out the ECM was fried. Two weeks later and $800.00 I was back on 2.
I’m not comparing the new HD baggers to Goldwings right now - but the way HD is moving paves the way for them to be compared at some point in the near future. And from that perspective after bringing the bagger up to goldwing specs, the Goldwing will be a lot cheaper.
Hey Bob, great video as always. Almost signed for one a month ago. Thing that stopped me was, I didn't want to give up what I have. My 2014 Road King, 2020 BMW GSA or my 68 Charger. TBH, I never really liked the look of the Road Glide until recently. Always found it to have an unbalanced look. Not anymore, I really want one. Love the new design, from the fairing and new headlight to the bags and rear lighting. The new tech with that awesome TFT screen, beautiful!! Now, color. Seriously, Extra for Vivid Black???? A harley staple color since the beginning of time. Yeah, I get that some colors cost more, but even paying more for a blacked out engine..... Cheaper to produce than chrome. I guess I'll eventually end up with one. Glad your loving your new machine and am sure you know, as we get older, others opinions don't really matter that much.
Totally get why you hesitate but some things that people don’t realize. Harley is using a menu type way to buy motorcycles anymore. You will see that even more in future years, but the base price is lowered so you can build the bike you want. Like it or not I think that’s our future. Can never give up the road king
I would love one if money were no issue. However, my Low Rider is perfect for me and arguably better suited to UK roads than a bagger. Good one Mr BoDean.
I personally think it’s a great looking bike, and I think what they’ve done with the bikes is going to be a great thing for HD! If I was in the market for a new bike, I’d seriously consider the RG!
I went to look at one yesterday at 6’4” i was very cramped, knees very high, i was disappointed as the reviews seem good, i got on a lowrider and it was really bad. I will be riding my ultra classic for a while longer, enjoy it.
I have a paid for 2017 RoadGlide Ultra and I'd consider trading up to this new design if/when they push these changes to the RoadGlide Limited. I really enjoy the fairing lowers, taller windshield and TourPack.
You have a great bike. I can tell you a little birdie told me, 2025 bikes and beyond will not come with tour packs. You’re gonna be ordering your motorcycle à la cart nowadays.
I like my analogue gauges on my 2023 TG because I get full GPS on my Infotainment System screen. Plus, it doesn't look (to me) like something is missing. Ride safe.
I love my RKS snake venom and really have 0 desire to get rid of it. With that said I do love the new RG's BUT I got burned with my old 21 Pan America and it's first year bugs. I was lucky enough they gave me a great trade value on it for my 21 RKS. Plus I couldn't afford the trade right now. I'm happy for you and a little bit jealous.
I have a '18 heritage with a 114 m8. I thought they had sorted out the problems by the time i got mine. Well had to change the oil pump and lifters at 32k miles so im gonna wait it out a few yrs but the new design is beautiful.
Am in the same boat as you. Exact bike, cam chest replacement at 72k. There is quite a difference between a trivial recall on a 1st yr model and a oil pump problem. Whatever happened to HD’s test facility in Arizona. Do we just let new bike owners sort out the bugs now?
I'm not buying one of the new HD's because I don't buy 1st year models. But the biggie reason is because, as you know I bought a Goldwing last season and just got it setup for me and Mrs. PaiN. But down the road, who knows 😉
So I had a chance to ride the 2024 for a few days, guessing that HD wants you to think it needs a new suspension so you will go out and buy the SE Ohlins. But the torque on the 2024 RG is great, I bought a 2023 RG ST and the 24 is more punchy for sure. This being my First HARLEY, I bought the Fast Johnnie version as a collector piece and think will keep it in the fleet. Maybe a CVO/ST in the future, but hard to justify the $9,000 more than the same bike “category” as my Fast Johnnie, legitimately speaking. Okay, yes the inverted forks and 121 motor, and SE Ohlins. In time Klock Werks will come out with a windshield for the new street glide and am curious what that will look like. I wish there was a cigarette plug on the new street glide. I do alot of camping and use an inverter to charge things. I most likely will buy one sooner or later but am hoping that Harley will bring the cigarette adaptor plug back.
When I was doing research on the Spyder, they came out with a new model design for the 2020 model. I waited a year before I commented to buy, for them to work out the "Bugs" on a new model.
