Great Info! I really appreciate this! I need a brand new engine in my 2021 Road Glide Special(left me stranded on Labor day weekend-dont even ask how difficult and expensive it was to get me and my bike towed home). My dealer says my extended warranty will cover a new engine(minus $50 deductible) but it will be awhile before my bike is up and running again. Long story short I am going in a few days to look at the 2024 Road Glides and "see" what kind of deal they are offering. I guess it all depends on how much smoke the salesman tries to blow up my ass! 😅 But thanks to your video I can at least go in with a good understanding of how the infotainment system works! Thanks again!
11:00 - I LOVE the gear-shifting number indicator! It doesn't wait for the rider to release the clutch and engage the gear to show the gear the bike is in. If the rider shifts it immediately indicates that gear! I love this!!! Keep up the (always) great content John and keep the innovation coming HD!!!
Great video John, I have had my 24 White Onyx Pearl RG for a few weeks. Totally agree with you I like the layout of not only the infotainment system, but the controls. Still getting used to them, but it really doesn’t take long. Harley delivered with this bike.
If you hit the cycle button with the key fob present hold it down it'll put the bike in accessory mode and you can access all of that stuff without having to power up the entire bike very handy for electrical consumption
It might be just me but I hate the big black tablet that replaced all the beautiful chrome bezel gauges. My 2013 CVO has gorgeous dials, big sweeping hands for everything from oil to battery, fuel and of course tach and speed. Even when the bike is off its gorgeous, all metal, glass and chrome. I can see the advantage of having GPS navigation in the center...but I think the cost of no gauges is too high. What happens in 8 years or more when the screen is dull, or they stop updating the older bikes.
I wish they kept ALL the gauges when they did the Rushmore update. Shit man.. why do they think we don’t need to see oil pressure? Now we just got the red light on the speedo .. u see that while riding just in time to tell u ya gonna need a new motor. And then on the screen the “ok” for oil level .. damn.. check your levels ppl
I picked up a 23 CVO my biggest issue is the screen . I love the tech and what it does and offers , but my concerns are the same . I miss the Gauges but the bike is freaking awesome!!!!!
No it's not just you, the new set up is dogshit, sorry to say they already have problems, I love the 2013 CVO by the way I have a 2011 FLTRX and love it .
I’m an analog guy too when it comes to my gauges. We went through this crap in the 80’s and 90’s cars when people thought there digital gauges were cool. I like a touch screen radio, but definitely analog gauges all day. To me the bars look empty missing them
I bought a blue Road Glide last Saturday. I LOVE it!!! If you hold down the button with a circle on it on the left handlebar you will turn the bike on accessory mode. Then you can play with the radio without turning the bike all the way on.
Great information, but I'm not a tech guy, and when I had my Street Glide I never used much of it. I guess that's why I have a Highway King. It's really nice, but it's wasted on me.
I’m about to do those Arlen Ness ones .. if I get a tax return 🤞.. I don’t like my 10” z bars (HD chizzled Lo bars). And I would love to see the gauges in my field of view. I can tell what speed the motor is spinning by feel but as to road speed.. in the ballpark but not close enough to know what a cop gonna clock me at. I hate how the gauges are so fkn low in stock location
I'm old school, way too much high tech for me. However if you can and Harley gives you the OK. Can you Dyno the bike before and after you do the Harley upgrade stages. That would be awesome. Thanks.
The only thing I dislike about the new 24's is lack of power outlets. On my 2019 RGS I use the wire in the right cubby hole for a memory stick with all my music and the power outlet on the left to power my phone... this won't be an option when I upgrade 😩...hopefully later this year.
I was looking at used ST's and waited till the '24's dropped. These new bikes are an absolute game changer. Needless to say I brought an Onyx White/black FLRTX home this past Wednesday. Only have about 80 miles on it at this point, but it is fantastic. The display/interface is awesome and the switch pods seems very intuitive.
John, I just bought a 24 Street Glide. You will see it next time we connect at a Bikes and Breakfast. On the Apple Car Play, here's the desl. Google no longer supports nAdroid Auto on motorcycles. Apple Carplay still does, but it requires a headseat. It is not a Harley Davidson decision. I you pair a Cardo, you should be all set. Car Play will start if the Cardo is on. I have Samsung smart phone with Android Auto. I bought a Comecho interface, which connects to the Infotainment system as if it is an iphone, and connects with wireless Android Auto. For your bike, pair the Cardo and turn it on so that it is on when the Infotainment system boots up. If your iphone is paired and running, everything should connect and work fine. There are some gimicks that fools the Infotainment system into thinking that a headset is connected, so that the Apple Carplay will work without a real headset. I am hoping to connect with at a B&B in the next couple of weeks so we can compare notes. Good luck with your Road Glide. BYW, do you have a gremlin bell yet? Regards.
There is an upgrade for android. It seems they changed their mind and decided to support motorcycles riders. That’s what I was told yesterday by my local Harley
Audio from Rockford is like 15% improvement from factory speakers. They take quite a lot of room on the bags. Had them on cvo rg 2023. Happy I didn’t waste money on this on the 2024RG. Some after market brands offers better stuff if you really want to put money on stereo. We have navigation by default in France. Don’t know if it’s going to be free forever tho. Hope you can ride tomorrow and enjoy this outstanding bike🙏🏻
My First Harley purchase was back in October 23, and it is the Fast Johnnie Road Glide - just loved that stupid pig on the gas tank. The Blue/White Muscle Car paint wasn’t half bad either.
It is known that you serve in the Air Force, And thank you for your serves. As a mechanic, What do your citizens job that makes so handle with, all your bikes. Cin-Cin and Salute. Congratulations on your 2024 RoadGilde, looking forward on all the upgrades you have in mind.🫡👌👍🫶
I think there is already a workaround for the headset issue... You can plug in a little dongle that the bike sees as a headset, then you can use carplay and apple maps without one hooked up. Mine comes in next month, cannot wait! Awesome video as usual.
Nice bike congrats,I like the Black with chrome mind you I really dislike the alluminum front fork legs and the black painted legs as well they get sandblasted and look like crap after a while so I chromed mine that's a nice upgrade, am new to following you and enjoy your vids.
Is the rumor true. Non-CVO’s need to buy a subscription to use all the features on infotainment. If that’s true. Like Harley fashion, two steps forward and one step back.
The $350 subscription is a one-off and gives you traffic, weather and map updates for 3 years, after that navigation stays working but no updates unless you pay again... At present maps updates are $150 a pop and there might 2 or 3 a year so its not that bad just a nuisance its not an option to have nav by default like on older bikes
Great video! I did find a work around to have wireless CarPlay on my 24. I bought a 20 dollar usb dongle and a USB-A to USB-C adapter. The dongle has a microphone built in so it is recognized as a headset. The only annoying part is having to switch back and forth between the dongle and my actual Sena when I want it connected instead. This isn’t actually Harley’s fault. Having a microphone connected is a requirement for Apple to license CarPlay. Since the bikes don’t have a microphone in the fairing which would be pointless, they resorted to relying on your headset.
You can use accessory mode to view your screen instead of turnining the on switch. If you press and hold the info button next to the TC butto. You get to mess with the screen and your headlight will not be completely on draining the battery.
Carplay fix. you should check out the video called. headset killer on new Harley-Davidson infotainment. the channel is called . in the friction Zone. in the video he shows how to fix carplay so you don't have to have a headset connected
The nnede headset for ACP is a pain in the ass hopefully they will change it with a SW up-date!! Looking forward to all the mod's brother !! Have fun!!
U can use your Bluetooth dungle that you had on your other bike as long as it is c port and car play will work I do it on my 24 road glide hope this helps you out
Congrats john, I just got a white onyx 2024 RG this morning and Im so excited about what are you going to do with your bike. Maybe I can get some ideas from your build. I came from a lowrider s and this is my first bagger.
According to the dealer I just went to the Apple car play option will not work unless there is a microphone present. That is why you need to pair a headset with microphone on it. Maybe someone will come up with a hack to avoid this issue.
i just bought a 2024 Road Glide.....and i cant on the radio......can help??......i already set to the frequency and set to speaker......no sound.....tia
I know you did a video on how you break in a new build on a motor. Maybe you can do a break in riding video on the new bike to show how you put it under load on and off.

also, because apple carplay relies on a headset connection.. if you decide to use another non-blue tooth helmet, like a half helmet or your backup helmet, you won't have apple carplay. In the fiction zone channel has a 2024 Applecarplay solution. Works perfectly. No helmet communication needed. Always on and always connected. Enjoy.
Congrats on the new RG John!!!
great machine just change out every 3 years and your golden !!!!!!!!
This must be the first Harley you really have to spend some time with the Manual!
I bought a blue Road Glide last Saturday. I LOVE it!!! If you hold down the button with a circle on it on the left handlebar you will turn the bike on accessory mode. Then you can play with the radio without turning the bike all the way on.

The 2024 Honda Goldwing fully supports Android Auto. Harley is lying to their customers.

John, you can get a plug for that radio thinks it’s a mic. I have it on my cvo st works great. I will send you link.
Please, that would be fantastic. You’re the best. My email is down below in the video description.
I'd be interested in that too!
By the way I purchased my first Road Glide a 2023 120 Anniversary. Just fell in love with that paint scheme.
That’s gorgeous our friend Steve has one
My First Harley purchase was back in October 23, and it is the Fast Johnnie Road Glide - just loved that stupid pig on the gas tank. The Blue/White Muscle Car paint wasn’t half bad either.

Can’t wait to see it with the risers and bar set up. Sorry John the stock bars don’t look good for you 😂 awesome vid like always 👍🏼💪🏼
I love the feel of those stock grips! They need to make them for the older bikes, including heated grips!!!
I think there is already a workaround for the headset issue... You can plug in a little dongle that the bike sees as a headset, then you can use carplay and apple maps without one hooked up. Mine comes in next month, cannot wait! Awesome video as usual.

That is pretty nice technology. The center button is like using a mouse on a computer. 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Wow I can’t believe the amount of information and features that are on the infotainment system.
Thrashin Supply is supposed to be coming out with handle bars for that bike soon. Pair their bars with Kraus riders and you'd be in good shape.
You can use accessory mode to view your screen instead of turnining the on switch. If you press and hold the info button next to the TC butto. You get to mess with the screen and your headlight will not be completely on draining the battery.
John well done video. Thanks
Also the the break lever is adjustable now
Finally, harley caught up to most of the other manufactures with the techy stuff for sure......
Top right button on the left side.. hold it down.. it’ll turn info screen on without turning everything else on
If you hold down the button with the circle on the the left side it turns in the bike in accessory mode
Great tutorial! Thanks John
Carplay fix. you should check out the video called. headset killer on new Harley-Davidson infotainment. the channel is called . in the friction Zone. in the video he shows how to fix carplay so you don't have to have a headset connected

There's a headset usb adapter that fools the bike that there's a headset present. Plugs in easily then gets paired to the bike. Works great. FYI

Great Bike Congratulations!
I just can not get used to the turn signals. I do like the cruise control buttons.
I believe that cue-the rider found something to plug into his 2023 cvo that fools that into thinking the headset is connected.

This bad weather must be killing you. I for one, am anxious to see your first rides and the after break in rides. Bring on sunny and warm days.
You can buy maedhawk aux connection or another similar brand and plug it into c connection in cubby holder to use car play wireless
Hold down on left select mode button and dash will come on instead of turning on ignition switch
Congrats John, welcome to the gold wing club ,finally you made the right choice lol😂
I bet there will be a flash to fix that CarPlay issue later.
According to the dealer I just went to the Apple car play option will not work unless there is a microphone present. That is why you need to pair a headset with microphone on it. Maybe someone will come up with a hack to avoid this issue.

You can get Apple CarPlay from your phone if you put a Bluetooth device connected directly to the USB in the compartment.
Great information
I know you did a video on how you break in a new build on a motor.
Maybe you can do a break in riding video on the new bike to show how you put it under load on and off.
John, wonder IF you could plug in that dongle to a USB port under the fairing again?
Also, Android Auto is no longer on anything with two wheels. Including the 24 HD. To clarify, this applies to 24 and newer motorcycles.
CarPlay is an Apple thing. Yeah it can be a pain especially when wearing a half helmet
it is not Harleys fault but, it is Apple iPhone requiring a microphone to be connected for CarPlay
I didn’t say it was Harley‘s fault, all I said was, I didn’t like that.
I did mean to come off that way that you did, sorry but, on a forum someone was bashing Harley for it.
Is this the bike you'll be taking on the X-Country ride with Sandy?
Yes
I'm glad you don't charge for these videos like some other channel does...
Name the new bike "Genesis " for a new beginning, new design and new generation of Harley Davidson.😃👍🏽
So looking forward to this build. Can you get hooked up on the aluminum or metal speaker surround housing?
First here in the comments yay me great video

I would get the 2024
@CYCLEFANATIX Thanks man and ride safe!!
Very informative video man! I know you're an Apple guy but any idea how to get Android Auto to work. I briefly tried and didn't have much luck.
Do we have to turn on iPhone CarPlay and headset before powering the bike to get it connected automatically? Or does it matter?
As soon as the switch goes on it shuts off the battery tender connection.
Whats the bluetooth device that you ordered from amazon to be able to connect via bluetooth? I have a 23 road glode and have to plug it in every time
My name I gave you, is the dopest- show some love- Boss!
So due to the screen location and size, I suspect there won’t be a t-bar set up on this bike. Sux because I definitely not feeling those bars.
Does the handle bar controls lit up at night?
No
hi john do you know if the head pipe will work from 23 to the new 24
I’m not sure

Apple requires the microphone (headset) for Apple Car Play, not Harley.

they have been bypassing the apple car play headset with a bluetooth dongle plug into the right side C plug
When are you revealing the name? Lol😂..I’m thinking Black Ops!…js!
