Too many people are focusing on survival rather than keeping theirs dreams alive this shit catch up to you in life. Do what make you happy and not what make others happy.
Richard Balthazar I know so many people who “did what made them happy” and now they are stuck at minimum wage jobs with 3 kids ..... I think people should go to school so they can get a part time job making ok money and use the rest of their time doing what they want honestly
REDD-IVEEE 🗣🗣🗣 Say THAT! Ppl complain so much. Try being BROKE! I can tell some of these ppl haven’t been BROKE before. Get your MONEY. You can really tell what stage in life ppl are in when they say these crazy things abt “do what makes you happy” nah, make your money first then do what makes you happy. Nurses make great money, regardless of how less they FEEL they make, MOST ppl are not making $30-$70 coming off a 2 year degree. Spend a couple YEARS BROKE and your perspective will change.
12 years as a RN. It was never my passion but I needed a way to care for my children because I was going through a divorce with no financial help. It has been so difficult especially the last few years. I’ve started to struggle with depression/anxiety. I’ve had many different roles from floor nurse to Director of Nursing and I’ve hated each equally... all the time crying out to God to help me... fast forward to 1 month ago.. I QUIT!!! I can’t spend 1 more day in that black hole.. I just got accepted to start Flight Attendant training.. way less money but my PEACE doesn’t have a price. I feel you 100%.. Good luck to you!! 😀
Good for you. And please, don't listen to people who try to shame or guilt you into continuing nursing because of the 💰. I have even been harrassed by thirsty neighbors and acquaintances who wish to profit from me by trying to force me to work for their family members who either are ill for free or pennies, or those who run nursing homes, or manage them in order to abuse me. Please avoid these people.
Im an introvert and nursing is so emotionally draining for me. On my days off all I want to do is stay shut up in my room because of how much talking I have to do
Don't you waste both by quitting something you've spent your life trying to achieve? Either way I get it, I just hope all the nurses in the comment sections who also want to quit find a job that's worth it. Especially after all the hassle they went through.
Coolspygirl no, you waste a life by doing something that you hate for 30 years just because you spent 3-4 years in school for it. There are other options in life and just because you choose a path doesn’t mean it has to be your only path for your entire life.
sweet pea, I have been an RN for 39 years. you have gifts the Lord has given you. do not stay in a career your heart is not in. just pray, be still and listen to the voice of the Lord. you will be fine.
i prayed and the lord told me to just sit at home and play video games instead of getting a job. so that's what I'm gonna do! Can't argue with God!! :)
I remember my professor in my first year in college said to us, that if you went into nursing for the money, you will never be happy. I've been a nurse for more than a decade and all I can say is...she was right.
E U nurses get paid very well so many people get into the career because of that . But never choose a career because of the money . It may sound cliche but go what you truly like doing
Wendy Martínez absolutely never ever choose a career based on money but I am a nurse and just as a point I don’t make good money.I know people who work in retail or as clerk and they make about the same money as I do.
E U rn Im between being a vet tech and a nurse but honestly I think ima go to vet tech because nursing just came to me as an option when I was narrowing down my careers to my top 5. Like I never really thought about nursing until this year & I don’t want to be miserable and have to end up , quitting my job . Honestly I’m struggling with that rn :( ughhhhh
I am so glad that you realized it while you are young. I'm 48 years old and it took years and a nervous breakdown for me to realize that nursing is not for me. God bless you.
I’m 44 and feel the same way. I’ve been through burnout to breakdown to just bleakness now. All I ever do anymore is play on my phone and wait for my kids to come home when I am off. I’ve pushed through for so long now that I feel like a part of me has died. Retirement is further away for our generation. I worked with a nurse many years ago who got so over it, I ran into her sweeping the front door at Walmart. I asked if she was still nursing and she said “only if I have to. I’d rather sweep this floor all day for 9 bucks an hour than go back to nursing. Just waiting 5 more years to retire.” I lost a lot of hope that day. And that was 6 years ago. You’ll wake up one day and your whole life has passed you by. No one will ever treat you as well as you treated your own patients, and healthcare will cost twice as much. It really makes the saying “No good deed goes unpunished” all too real. How many good deeds do you do per shift, and for how many years? It’s a lifetime of punishment.
Danni Solis there’s nothing wrong with trying different things if you already know you won’t stick around what’s the point ? Might as well do something you love
The people who say quitting is bad are just too stubborn for change. Try shit out, if it’s not for you then progress and try another. Happiness is key!
You are not a fool...having to decide on a career at 18 is insane. Thank you for putting this video out. Your ig pics of your baby and you are so sweet, you are blessed!
I had to decide a career at 17 smh my parents drilled me to be a nurse it wasn't a joke. I just quit my first nursing job after 4 months and told myself to hell with it. I'm not happy at all. My sleep pattern is all kinds of fucked up, I'm breaking out more than ever before, I'm not eating right. I did 12 hr nights at a psych hospital....no. I'm going back to school to become a elementary school teacher best decision of my life. It's what I wanted to do it since I was a kid. I don't care about the pay. It makes me happy and even my professors see me strive in my classes
This right here is why parents need to pay close attention to their children and have very open conversations with them. They want our approval so badly and we have to let them know that as long as they are mentally and spiritually healthy that is there most important goal. The rest will follow.
Lotusflower, you raised a VERY good point. Deciding on a career path at 18 is crazy, and schools should be about giving students experience of various fields, and numerous workplaces.
I have been a nurse for 5 years and I am quitting my job in 2 weeks to start classes to get certified in IT and get a better career. I hated most days as a nurse and it has been the least fulfilling idea of mine ever.
I Think that you should have been given a better advice : do not quit unless you have a back up plan. However if you really can t do something you should leave it. I say this because I suffer from depression and I left university because I was depressed( actually I already was before beginnig it and I had lots of up and down that at the end I was so sad that every part of my body hurt and I couldn t get up from the bed and everything was such a big deal!) . After leaving university however Ì didn t get better, actually I got worse because I didn t have a purpose, I was already ill and I couldn t find a job because I felt so angry, so sad, and suicidal. Every person I met in that period made me angry and I cried every day, and every person who talked to me made me cry...and I nobody was able to help me ( although I took some medicine!). One day my mother decided that I needed a professional help ( actually after the psychiatrist gave me a prescription and suggested I needed help), so I went to a psychologyst and that helped....I know my story in awful, also because I m Sad anyway and I m not going anymore to the psychologyst, so I like "alone", I would like that nobody feels in this way, and I Think that leaving university Played a good role to my health.
"But God"....the arrogance. Why would "He" allow it to happen in the first place if "He" were so powerful? What kind of silly God is this? Black people will stay cursed with this mindset. Most Christian black people's lives are in complete shambles. No accountability.
I had a professor in college who in her last year of residency to be a doctor, decided she did NOT want to be a doctor anymore. I couldn’t believe how much courage she had to quit so close to the finish line, and she loves teaching and doesn’t regret it.- one of my best professors ever.
Going Up 😂 right? I’m not sure what that was about but I was just saying if someone can decide after 7 years of medical school and residency that they no longer want to do it and have a good outcome, so can this nurse.
Thank you for sharing this! I’m one semester away from getting my RN and I’m about to quit. I love patients so much but the politics, shitty instructors, and emotional abuse from my school isn’t worth it. I felt stupid at first for giving it up now, but better than wasting my lifetime unfulfilled! Now I’m off to pursue a degree in social work.
@@Ohheyitsalexofficial Congrats on your new journey!! Just because you start doing one thing doesn’t mean you have to do it forever! I went back to school and changed careers at 35 with 4 kids. Don’t let anyone call you a quitter either- because you haven’t quit, you redirected your path ! You are the only one that has to live your life, you do what you can live with and do it with all of your heart. Best wishes to you!
I am in tears because I have been in school nearly 4 years and racked up student loans and now I’m thinking nursing isn’t for me. I’ve been trying to lie to myself and make myself like it but I just don’t think I can do it...
I've been a nurse for 10 years. Worse choice I ever made. I wish I would have followed my dreams instead. Don't do it if you know you don't love it. Take it from me.
Welcome to life. Sometimes you have to do things you don't love, just for the money. You have loans to pay. Get the RN, you will always have a back up.
Honey you don’t have to have all the answers for your life. You may feel like you wasted your time and money etc, but honey, you have no idea what God has in store for you. Your definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for making this video, you said quite a few things I really needed to hear.
I tried to pursue a career in nursing, but I became so depressed and burned out. I loved the patients, but there was so much bullying among nurses and the environment is not for everyone. I never realized it would be so hard. I ended up changing careers.
I quit nursing after 12 years. It’s truly a thankless job. You do not make enough money for all the responsibilities you have. Constantly worrying about losing your license over countless things. It was not worth it to me. It took me years to actually quit even though I knew I wanted to. Once I quit, it was so freeing. I always get asked if you were a nurse, why do you work here? People don’t get how hard becoming a nurse is & how miserable of a job it can be. I still pay student loan debt to this day. Listen to your intuition and follow your dreams. No regrets!
I was in an accelerated nursing program and yes it was busy, but I knew in my heart it wasn't for me. I quit after 5 months and decided to pursue my Masters instead and happy about my decision.
I have a shit ton of friends in this boat and they do not want to admit it, they are only in school for nursing and/or only working as nurses for the money they have ZERO passion or common sense. At least you are honest enough to say you were wrong and that is all that matters!
Oh snap! I hope there's at least a little common sense lol. && to clarify I def had compassion for each person I cared for and was a dang great nurse but that was not enough (to me). Best of luck to your friends!
Perhaps you need to be in a different type of nursing. There is so much more than Hospice, working in a hospital on a floor or wing, more than a nursing home, respite care center, or retirement center for that matter. There are positions with private doctors, nurses who do home care, others work with pediatricians, & there are school nurses too. MOF, I lived in this state many, many years ago after I was born then again while I was in school. After I moved back many years in the future after saying I'd never live in this state again, I did but I moved here because the man I had been dating & who had made the drive to see me more times than I can count or even remember on top of the times we 'met in the middle' and just got a hotel room b/c it was cheaper & we could each be back home sooner with less of a drive... we had grown close & our relationship deepened over time. He owned his business & with the type it was, he couldn't just pick up and move to a new state in a metropolitan city. Even if wanted to move his business, he couldn't get work where I lived b/c it was in a large city & the type of work he did wasn't done there, so I moved to be nearer to him to find out if we had any chance of making it last. We did & we have. My career was really fluid allowing me to work anywhere. After I went to work in this area and later decided to go back into an office, the corporation's in-house nurse turned out to be the school nurse of a school I attended more than 2 decades earlier! I had sent for my school records & wanted to make sure I had them all so I had my records sent from every school in every state I had attended. One night while going through them all, I found my friend & company nurse... I made a copy of the document with her signature & brought it with me the day after. We both had a great laugh about it. Now she was a corporate nurse but good at her job & she enjoyed it b/c it wasn't around sick people all the time, though she did give flu vaccines every year. I'd even go into the office to get mine. I guess what I'm saying is this: It sounds like you love people. I've been around enough nurses in my life to know when a nurse absolutely hates the work & you don't sound like you hate the work; it's like you don't care for where you are working per se. Maybe you need to find a different way of doing what you do best. After my oldest daughter wasn't happen with the way things were going, she began taking classes at the hair college (It is a Paul Mitchell school), she eventually took all the classes needed & went thru the lab time too then graduated, went for her state licensed, got it, & began working as a hairdresser but still worked in medicine & kept going to college. Today, she does hair at a respite center, does nursing at the respite center so many days a week, then takes care of an elderly woman who still lives in her home a few days a week, & she has created time to be more of a presence in her step-daughter's life, esp after she came to live with my daughter & her husband. Now my daughter doesn't have & doesn't want children; they can't have children b/c her husband had surgery to take care of that so they're on the same page & happy; hwr, there are no diapers, no chasing a toddler or being up all night putting an antsy stubborn terrible two back in his or her bed, but she does enjoy being a stepmother & being able to help this young girl get her life straight & work hard in school while, as a family, working on any & all remaining issues. My daughter has a full life but it's one she has made to fit the things she likes to do. Part of that is working as a hairdresser in the respite center, which makes it so she enjoys what she does even more & the break between in-house hairdresser for the center, working at the center, working in private care, and working at a salon where she oversees other hairdressers while also working herself just fulfills her life too. Life really is what you make it. I hope you find what you are seeking.
Your daughter & mine could be sisters. :) My (oldest) daughter loves medicine too. I think her ability to cross so many avenues of directly & indirectly serving as a caregiver thru the medicine at a respite care facility, as a hairdresser within the same respite care center, & thru her volunteer work where she comes in 1-2 or so times a month (across 2 of the center's facilities & sometimes she is able to come back to the 3rd that is near my home/her childhood home) where she comes out to sing to the residents. Bless her heart she even goes to the extent of doing her hair, nails, makeup, and dresses in period pieces & evening gowns to make it more special. Over the past few years, she opted to take on private duty, tho the elderly woman who hired her wasn't a stranger when she was offered the job. She knew her thru other residents (the company directs employees to call them clients rather than residents or patients) she has known for years. About the only sub-specialty she doesn't work is with Alzheimer's patients. In the beginning, it was more b/c she was fearful of Alzheimer's patients b/c the first patients she cared for with Alzheimer's were in the combative stage. Later, she came to understand & know in her head that the only reason people in this stage get like this is b/c they are more afraid of others than others are afraid of them. She's seen it first hand with a family member & a few aging friends who had/have the disease so she was able to witness the changes from the mildest of symptoms to the most severe where even the glimmer of recognition was gone. It's just one aspect of nursing care she doesn't want to work in with good reason. It seems like we moms have the same great ideas. LOL! I did the same with my girls. The youngest doesn't want to work in medicine; hwr, there is a flicker of caregiver in the peripheral. She has always wanted to with women who have to fight for right to learn & live despite culture & religion. It has a lot to do w/why she chose cultural anthropology w/focus in middle eastern studies. Both girls have grown up supporting & fighting for those who have few to fight for them or with them. My husband & I chose to send the girls to public school (we have an excellent school district) while also home-schooling. It's given them the best foundation. I've fought with multiple (4 types) autoimmune diseases and damages they have caused to my body so I can definitely understand your extensive knowledge of the medical language. (I have a retinal disease w/optic nerve damage too; lost my license to blindness more than 2 decades ago, but I still retain light perception w/some clarity if one can call looking thru drinking straws w/saran wrap over the ends clarity... lol!) And you are so right on the point that automation will never take away our daughters' career. My MIL, other family members, & I have said the same many times too. It's about the best job security of any other field out there. I know I keep numerous specialty fields in business, as I'm sure you do as well. So sorry to hear about your accident. My oldest was t-boned too but thankfully the hit wasn't anywhere close to what you sustained. You are lucky to be alive! About a month before I was to meet my father-in-law for the first time, he was in a multi-vehicle pile up on the interstate. He wasn't able to stop before rear-ending a dump truck as the truck driver was trying to avoid the vehicle in front of him & in front of that one, etc... He died on impact and thru sheer divine providence, his wife (2nd wife; he moved out west & remarried after he & my MIL divorced, which is why it was about 10yrs before the chance came up to finally put into motion possibly meeting him) somehow survived though how is unbelievable. Sadly, she had to be put into a medically-induced coma to give her any chance of survival & even that sliver was tiny. It was almost a year before she had any knowledge that her husband died. While I was sad for my husband & his brothers, their kids & ours, I was happy for his stepsons. At least one of them survived. Best wishes & gentle hugs.
Consider esthetics. Nurse estheticians are in demand. And you can even have your own non-invasive spa if you want. I am a certified Myotonologist (BSN). If I wasn't 61, it's what I would do.
There are an endless amount of options in nursing. There are so many that I am 100 percent sure you can find one that works for you. Explore all of your options, there are so many.
You and me both. But to be honest I won't quit nursing all together. I left a hospital job for a clinic and it's much better. Different type of busy. But it beats 12 hr nights by a long shot
I think these comments let you know you are not alone. I spent 26 being miserable and abused in nursing. Spending my day off feeling awful and sick over the thought of having to go to work the next day. Many times I looked for jobs outside of nursing, but the pay wasn't as good, so I stuck with it. Seven months ago God put me in a spot we're I didn't have a choice. I have been in customer service ever since and excelling. People asked why I left nursing for customer service and they never believe the answer "to get away from the abuse." I recently went out with a couple of former coworkers, when I told them how well I was treated by my current employer, the looks on their faces reminded me why I had left. They were in shock and disbelief that your employer and coworkers would treat people like mine do. Yes, I make less money, but I am happy and content. For the first time in my adult life I am not hating going to work.
DeeDee Porter Yes, Most definitely DeeDee! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾Money takes you but so far. It’s all good seeing those first few checks then reality hits you like a ton of bricks. Having peace of mind just means so much more! It’s just so crazy how we have been taught to believe being disrespected should be expected and tolerated. I think not! Thank You for sharing your experience♥️
Yes now I don’t feel alone I am a CNA . Was going for my lvn but it’s true we never enough we work our butts off but never satisfied. We get yelled at anyways we work short and still . We could work to fast but the safety if we work to slow ppl are waiting on you. NEVER ENOUGH
I am so proud of you, I am 24. I have my RN,BSN and I hate being a nurse. You are exactly right about you can change specialities and it does not make a difference. I was a cardiac nurse, endoscopy nurse, and now a public health nurse and I dread it. You have inspired me, individuals glorify nursing when they should not.
Just received my rejection letter to a nursing program and as I finished reading it, tears began rolling down my face.. I was so relieved. Now I have no idea what to do, but I am so happy again :)
NURSING IS HELL! Be glad you did not get in. I have lost track of the times I am have been sick from it and I lost track at 138 people I was with that died in front of me. Lots of death and sickness in this field daily!
@@lindafinney And lots of sleepless nights re- thinking a decision. Did I do my best? Did I make a MISTAKE? Nursing is internal and external hell and it IS a beast. At times.
The problem is even if your passion is caring for people, nursing isn't the same as it was 20 years ago. Now we need to know more about charting, bureaucracy, red tape. It's all BS!!
I'm quitting nursing in a few days to pursue my dream of being an airline pilot. I never wanted to be a nurse, i told my parents about my dream of being a pilot and they laughed and said "where would you get the time to be a wife". I have been a nurse for 2 months and i am very unhappy. Your video made a difference in this stage of my life!
joy ekakitie ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾🙌🏾Go Joy Go!!! Shine in the sky 🌌!! I hope one day I’ll get to be one of your passengers! Please let me know how everything goes and you have my support!
No disrespect to your parents but parents don’t realize how much weight their words have on us .. they can say the most hurtful things without realizing it . You go girl and become that pilot! just as long your successful and HAPPY that’s all that should matter
Omg, I have my degree in health administration and my true passion and when I tell people at my job that I want to become an airline pilot they say that I’m better off as a flight attendant, or what am I gonna do with my degree, and all types of negative remarks, trying to get me down and change my mind. But by the grace of God I WILL PURSUE MY PASSION. by the end of the yr or the beginning of 2019. I’ve learnt to never listen to other people or tell them your plan.
Honey your nursing degree gives you knowledge. It also gives you critical thinking skills. They can be translated into other things. Use your knowledge to help people in your own way. The main thing is YOU HAVE CREDENTIALS!!!!!!!!!!! You achieved that goal, be proud!!!!! Continue to use your conviction to figure out what you want to do. 💯👍🏽💯👍🏽💯👍🏽
Hi, To go thru nursing school & not have a passion for it, complete it & pass the boards means you have great self-motivation & drive. You can succeed in whatever profession God has purposes for you. If you don’t mind me asking, what do you enjoy doing or are passionate about doing?
Hey Julia! You know I never even thought about it that way. You just blessed me girl! I don't mind at all. I'm glad you asked actually. I am so passionate about so many things honestly BUT everything is centered around helping others actualize their potential and turn it into reality while cultivating healthy relationships (with self, parents, peers, husband/wife, food etc.) My channel is pretty much everything I am passionate about all in one place 💖
Julia Taylor Lol right! Girly said she did the bare minimum. Oh lord Plesse bless me with these "bare minimum" grades and bare minimum strength. Lol. Nice video.
I’m a nurse. And my plan is to run away from it as possible the moment that opportunity comes up. I love helping ppl. But the nature of the profession, it just pulls you into this abyss of misery. The goal is you do what makes you happy. Nursing is not a happy place no matter what people say at all.
Are you still doing nursing ? If not what else are you doing ? I’m debating if I should continue nursing school 😢. I work at a hospital as a pct now and it makes me hate healthcare.
I will be taking the NCLEX next month. I love helping people but doing clinical thought me a lot. I don’t want to be cleaning poop for all the days of my life. So I’ll use nursing as a stepping stone. Being a nurse is like being a professional, well educated maid. I want to be respected as a professional. But I definitely want to remain in health care…
I have been an RN for 15 years but I am now a Management Consultant. I haven’t touched a patient in years and my quality of life is amazing. Please consider and ACTIVELY make it work for you. Take care.
i graduated a few years ago in accounting and finance from one the nations top Us business schools and was working for Goldman sachs. i am making over 100k but it has literally sucked the life out of me. I could not see myself doing this for another year and will be putting in my resignation after tax season and pursuing what i always wanted to do which is computer programming. 😁
I’ve been a nurse for 7 years! Started off as a Medical Assistant then a phlebotomist and then BSN. What upsets me about nursing is the black nurse can never be the nurse I am always assumed to be the “aide, or housekeeping”. I’m questioned more often about what I know then others. I’m always expected to do more or accept a higher workload or more complex patients that others don’t want to accept. I am expected to work through lunch and stay late more. I see black patients being treated as if pain doesn’t exist, we don’t get depressed, we don’t have anxiety or fears about surgery, recovery, discharge, new diagnosis etc. I wonder why many doctors, nurses and the world feel this way?
Yes! Yes! Yes! You are right. What hurts me the most is when the “ black “ patient looks are you to validate what the doctor is saying and you have to agree even though you don’t agree with the care. They are always looking at the black folk to fix situations with other black patients when they can easily just treat them like everyone one in the dang building.
I'm a nursing school drop out too. I felt really guilty quitting, but I just found it so unbearably dull, like being a glorified maid. I felt like my intellect was literally rotting
The sad thing is that 15 years ago, nurses had to use their brains. And the ones who made A’s in school were the worst nurses bc they were simply good test takers and there is a certain level of intuitive thinking that can’t be taught. Human anatomy may be an exact science, but human behavior is not. And 9 times out of 10 the “I got all A’s, and I never studied!” Types were either flushed out, or wound up failing the NCLEX or went into management. That’s the problem with nursing today. The ones coming out of school with all A’s and no common sense are taking over as hospitals are requiring bachelors degrees. The ones of us who worked our way up from CNA to bachelors are trying to adjust to the dumbing down of nurses, and trying to keep 22 year olds who have never had a job, but think they know everything, from killing people. Tests prepare you for tests. Experience prepares you for experience.
Beatnik RN interesting point. I recently finished nursing at uni, and my course was different in the sense that we didn’t get many tests at all, just more assignments. Overall I found these to have little benefit. However some assignments, like ones where we critically appraised nursing practice or examined errors/adverse events that we witnessed on placement, I found very useful and insightful. At the end of the day though, nobody really cares about our scores. In fact, in Australia, there’s no NCLEX. Getting into a graduate program is dependent on your clinical performance on placement and your nurse referees - GPA doesn’t make much of an impact. If you don’t do well in one of your final placements, your employment opportunities are shot. Nobody cares about your grades. That’s how I think it should be. All my memorable learning experiences were on the floor as a student.
I too left my nursing career behind. It took me almost 8 years to realize that the only reason I went into the medical field was because I was told most of my life that that was the most stable job you could ever have in this day and age, and that I wouldn't make enough money and would never be happy doing what I originally wanted to go to school for, which was becoming either a veterinarian or a vet tech. SOMETHING TO HELP ANIMALS. I cared too much about what my elders and peers thought, and I gave up my dreams in order to become a nurse for fear of ending up a "failure." I let other people brainwash me and I don't know why!!! While I was in nursing, I was actually REALLY good at it, but I woke up every morning dreading my work day before it even started and for some reason it took years and years for me to realize that it didn't make me happy. It was like I was on autopilot. It was very hard to quit and leave nursing/medical field behind because like I said, I had been brainwashed into thinking my dream job was a losers job that wouldn't get me anywhere. I am now trying my hardest to go after my dream of helping animals and everything finally feels right in my life. If a job doesn't make you happy, it's not worth the money or the benefits.
I'm glad you shared this video because I've been struggling the fence about nursing but I love doing hair and makeup but I'm going to follow my passion and follow the gift that God gave me because whatever you are good at and your passion that is what your supposed to do because he gave that to you
Hey my girl! This is exactly why God gave me the courage to post this. You heard my story---don't make it yours. I am not saying do not do nursing. Nursing is def rewarding. I just say do not do it if you feel guilted into it or you feel its the safe choice. You love hair and makeup and you're great at it---go after it! God gave you the gift so use it. You're not helping people by being on the fence. Get off the fence and do your thing! (Telling you this and myself this). We're in this together😉💕
You are so right. I prayed and the Lord told me to pursue my passion. And I am volunteering at a hospital, I love the medical field of helping people I feel so good about myself. And I know that I will soon be getting paid for it. I tell my kids do something that you love that if did not get paid for it you still would do it.So many people have careers or jobs and hate getting up everyday, Why put yourself threw that
Thank you for sharing your story! I am an RN and currently possess licenses in LPN & RN. I have been practicing nursing as an RN for the past 16 years. I LOVED nursing, but lately, with all the changes in healthcare, the short-staffing, disrespect (from patients/families & administration) and unappreciated for the work we do, it has become harder and harder for me to go into work. I pray everyday for a "good day," but FOR ME, it just seems like there is always a challenges. At this point, I just feel "burnt out." I WOULD like to continue nursing, because I DO love nursing, just not what I am doing RIGHT NOW. I work on a fast-paced, high stress and high turn-over medical/surgical unit. The demands are so many and increasing, but they want you out on time, irregardless of what type of day you had, the short-staffing or how high the nurse:pt ratio was....AND they give you grief for any "incidental" overtime you end up doing, blaming it on poor time management. I'm praying for guidance right now and an open door of opportunity for a position and area of nursing that God wants me in. By the way, my grandmother, who is a devout, born-again Christian told me that, "The Lord" told her to tell me to not take this current position, but I was unhappy at the previous job and wanted to leave and was disobedient. I'm suffering for it now! Let's pray for one another my sister!
Granny's always know!!! My grandmother def shared a few things with me and I didn't listen and I def had to pay for it! Thank You for sharing that with me and the prayers! I am sending some prayers up for you for that position to come with your name on it!! 😘💓Def come back and let me know when it does 🙏
I really appreciate you being so honest about this i became a CNA then i was going to go get my License LPN license but i felt just like u my grandma was RN for years i had to help myself emotionally girl make your self happy do other job above all make u Happy i stay in it for 6years when i could have done something else to make myself happy not my husband or parents but myself happy u have gotten a lot figured out I'm happy u did before u got bad depressed like i did one of my happy times was quiting my job as a nurse life is really to short now I'm sick it's bad i wish i had those 6years back to spend with my kids and my husband has passed away .I'm really glad u know what to do to make it better I'm proud of u young lady I'm sure your parents and husband will tell u i wish u much love and happiness thank u for your story u go girl LoL
God bless. Seems like it's time to make a move. There are so many options within nursing and a jump to another kind of nursing could make the biggest difference
I hate being a nurse. Cant wait to leave this career. Love the vulnerability and thank you for posting this. So many nurses I work with hate being a nurse.
It's weird that I came across your video... as I'm sitting at home tryna figure out what is my purpose in life... what am I passionate about... why am I sitting here letting life pass me by without knowing what/where I want to be? I've always wanted to be a nurse but never pursued it. Instead, I got a Medical Assistant certificate and don't even work in that field. I'm praying and hoping that God will guide me in the right direction. As for you, don't feel bad about it. You deserve to be happy with any career you choose. It's your life :) Thanks for this vid!
Dyneisha!! Go for nursing girl if that is what you truly want! Just as you told me I deserve to be happy with any career I choose---so do you!! I am rooting for you and I appreciate your love and support also. God got you girl and your purpose is within you already💕
Dyneisha Ericka hey im getting enrolled in school to become a medical assistant...is there any tips you could give me in moving forward in this position
I am a nurse and loved nursing and always wanted to be a nurse. I loved being a nursing student although it was the hardest thing I had ever done up to that point. But when I graduated, passed the NCLEX and got into the real world it was completely different than what I had expected. I have worked in different specialties of nursing and all of them that required direct patient care was terrible. The way nurses are treated in the hospital, nursing homes and home care is the worse. It was rare that I got the support that I needed to care for my patients when thing were in disarray. I encourage anyone that want to get into nursing to think long and hard and shadow nurses in various settings before making the final decision.
NurseJen Keep with it! I love my nursing job and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made with my life. That being said, if you find it’s not for you, don’t feel bad about leaving the profession. Everyone has different passions, so if you truest feel passionate about nursing, you will do just fine. It’s such an amazing field and it’s such a cool job! Some days I feel like I’m fighting the grim reaper to save a life, other days I’m celebrating someone beating cancer or crying with them as they tell me about their struggles with addiction. Be kind, be understanding, always try and put yourself in your patients’ shoes. If people are mean or angry ask yourself how you might feel- empathize with them, let them know you’re on their side- you make a lot of strong connections with patients and family that way. Best of luck future nurse!
NurseJen if nursing is your heart continue pushing. I’ve been a nurse for 26 years. I was so happy in this profession for most of my career. It’s what I wanted to do. I did very well. I worked my way up. I did med surge, cardtele, ER. I was a preceptor, charge nurse, manager and now nurse Administrator. I have taught and encouraged so many others. I am no longer happy in this profession. My passion has changed. I’ve gave my all and I have nothing else to give to this profession. I’m going to follow my new joy so that others like you who are passionate about the profession care take the torch. This young lady clearly never wanted this. Yes it is a very hard profession. It will suck you dry if you don’t create balance within yourself. Good luck and best wishes to you!
ariunsanaa dolgorsuren I’m done with nursing. Traveling is my passion. I’m a solo traveler now. Writing books and teaching women and some men how to travel solo safely. https:://pacnplay.com is my website. I didn’t think I would ever lose my passion for nursing but I did.
Here where i live it is. You only pay for books and things you need. Every school so elementary school ,middle school ,high school ,collage it is all free.
Damn girl!! You a lion!!! To finish nursing school without a true deep passion for it is amazing shit!!! Great job girl!! All around! Thank you for posting!!! You are on the right track!
Hey hey now! A lion! I'll def take that lol but I definitely just chalk it up to my persistence and drive to complete something no matter what! Gift and a curse, I guess. Thank You, Tasha 💜
It's been 3 years when you wrote this comment but it's still relevant. I want to quit nursing school but I was pressured by my family and I graduated on a field who doesn't bring me any joy and I felt miserable and guilty because I didn't like it. When you graduate from high school you have little time to think what is the right path to chose.
I'm in tears right now, my whole entire family is counting on me to go to nursing school and i'm going along with it but deep down inside I know that I don't want to do that. I actually got into a great nursing school last year but something happened and i had to completely stop. I believe that was a sign from God but then got brainwashed again by my family to the point where I started believing that even God wanted me to be a nurse but that's not the case. He's actually calling me to business. I pray that God gives me strength i really love this video because it opened my eyes to reality. God will totally bless you for this.
just made the hard decision of nursing not being for me and feeling like a disappointment. and then i open youtube and the first thing that popped up was this video. definitely a sign from God. thank you
You did the right thing. I just walked away after 22 years. Got tired of the politics, negative co-workers, unappreciative families and doctors. You walking away early is going to lead to a happy life. I couldn’t because I had a family and responsibilities. As a result I feel like I have wasted a lot of my life, but I was determined to not end my life being miserable and working in a very negative environment. Let me give everyone something to think about. Average age expectancy is 84 years old. Say you are presently 30 years old. That means you have about 54 years left to live on average. If you sleep 8 hours a day that is 18 of the 54 years that you will be sleeping, so you have about 36 years to work and enjoy yourself and everything else. If you work only 40 hours a week then out of the 36 years, approximately 12 years will be spent working. Now you are left with 24 years. Say you are showering, grooming and commuting 2 hours a day. That is approximately 5 years out of your life. Now you are down to 19 years to really live your life out of 54 years. This is why it is absolutely necessary that you love what you are doing. Your daily activities is what you are trading your life for, so we all need to constantly be vigilant of our time and happiness and say “no” to everything else.
Don’t understand your comment or your point. My point is to do something you enjoy doing and do not waste your time on anything else because you actually only have a few years in the grand scheme of things to really enjoy yourself so it is very important that you enjoy your work. If you don’t like what you are doing you need to make a change now because you are wasting your life. If you put up with a job that you do not like you will wake up one day and realize that your life has past you by
For anybody having doubts about going to community college: There is nothing wrong with going to community college. The only difference between my friend and I is the debt. Signing the loan papers is easy. Once you get your first bill from the lender, reality kicks in REAL QUICK.
Girl. I am CRYING. I have and am still going through the same exact thing that you've been through. I did nursing to make my family and friends happy. I did nursing because it was expected of me, particularly in my culture. I had no passion about it and I remember just like you, i'd sit in my nursing classes and watch my classmates' eyes light up about nursing and I just remember being so empty, so lost, so upset. I would go home many days after class and just close my door and sleep. Just like you, I kept saying to myself, God if i fail this semester, it must mean you don't want me to be a nurse. But semester after semester, I'd pass (but barely) and now, I'm currently a working nurse. I've transferred from one unit to another in hopes of it "getting better" but it hasn't. And again, just like you, I'm putting on this facade in front of everyone around me saying that I love my job when I really don't. I dread every day that I wake up for work. Thing is, if I quit my job, I don't know what I'd want to do. I have a lot of interests but I don't know which interest to make a job out of. I pray that God has led me to your video for a reason. I pray that you're doing much better and I pray that I trust Him like you've trusted Him. Thanks again for this video. God bless
This is exactly me also, and I just graduated a month ago. I'm not looking forward to starting this journey honestly, I dreaded going to classes and clinicals. I only did it for my family and for them to get off my damn back. Not sure what to feel going in, but I don't want to make a degree useless, you know?
Are you me?! I’m exactly in your situation. I’ve been working for a year and it sucks for real. I comeback home always stressed and anxious to hear my phone ring and see my job calling me.
Girl this spoke to me! I’m changing my major to education because I’ve waisted 3 years of my life going through school for nursing . My dad told me to be a CNA the whole time I was going to school and I’m so glad I listened to my dad 😩. I’ve seen so much! The nurses really don’t care , they’re very disorganized, rude and talk down on CNAs like we were below them. I hated the medical field but I’m glad I went through it to open my eyes. I think everybody who wants to be a nurse/doctor should be a CNA for at least 6 months first
Look at what you're doing now..Your decision found a way to help others like me. My parents told me that passion will only fade, later on in life it's all about the pay/money because we pay bills and all. But to me, that's not living. The only thing we own in this life are our own moments. We don't own anything when we leave this earth, even our soul, it belongs to God. The only thing we own is our moments while living..
Nina this is absolutely true! All we have is these moments we're living. If those aren't bringing us joy, wtf is the point?? Paying bills to be miserable? No way.
Nina Jeanne Abrea so true. When we leave this earth we won't be thinking about the bills, what we did for a living, etc, but about our loved ones and memories.
I wish I could like your message a hundred times. You are spot on. Continue to share your message with everyone. Love is the only reason for living... and thanks Randomly Oni C! This video was needed by many.
Maame Yaa Been working nights for over 20 years. Never day shift because I don't do well with management, excessive family members, etc.... and their attitudes! Can't do it!! Lol
A nurse once told me that there is no nursing shortage. She said that if all the nurses that quit came back there would be no shortage. Nurses burn out in about 5 years. I’ve met nurses that shouldn’t be nurses....you made the right choice! God Bless!
Thank you for sharing your experience. Nursing is one of the most demanding jobs. It takes so much out of you. If your heart isn't in it you have to get out.
For those who got their RN and have clinical experience you can become a nurse reviewer for an insurance company and make decent money. Just something to consider...it doesn't all have to be direct patient care
You have literally said everything I’m feeling. I have been trying to explain this to my family for years. My sister sent me this video and it’s exactly what I need. I’ve been a nurse for 8 years and I have not enjoyed a single job that I’ve had. I’m an awesome nurse as I’ve been told by many, but I honestly feel that I’m in the wrong profession. I love helping others, but not in this way. I’m considering going back to school, but have no idea as to what I want to do!
I'm basically crying watching this. You're future is so bright and by you following your heart says a lot. You have the kindest soul and I have so much faith in you and your decision. I love you!!!!!
Nursing isn’t a lavish profession it’s tough. I’m in my first year as a nurse and it’s a dog eat dog world. I realized this is why the majority of nurses quit this career and move on from bedside. I’m miserable and depressed..My coworkers are a bunch of bullies and backstabbers. Working in a hospital sucks don’t pursue it unless your going into l&d; OR etc
I would consider looking into other hospitals. Good coworkers mean the world and can drastically change your opinion of the profession for better or worse. Nurses do eat their young sadly which is why you need to show them that you're better than them. Walk in those doors with your chin up and show them how you are not intimidated by their behavior. They will soon leave you alone 😃
This was me! I’m an LPN I have my associates in nursing. I failed the nclex RN 3 times. I only went to school so that I can make “good money”. I use to love helping my patients and they loved me, but I hated going to work! Ever since I was 15 I hated having a job, thought it would be different making more money!! I would get different nursing jobs hoping to feel better, I still hated it. I quit fall of last year! I am SO HAPPY AND FREE! I created a UA-cam channel which I love! I sell on EBay an Poshmark. It’s not as much money just yet, but I’ve never felt so relieved! I can’t imagine working in a career that I absolutely hate! I know God has a plan for my life!!!
Wow thank you for saying that! I love love pediatric nursing but going back to school to get my bachelor is a struggle! I have an associate degree but the requirement in the job world are higher. I have a UA-cam channel. I love love making videos. Check my page. Started a blog too. AshleeLoveit.blogspot.ca
Hey Lipstick Lady girl!! I legit think you are the first person to really admit the money part! It's almost as if that's never to be said aloud. Just like you I loooved my patients and they loved me too and I think people feel like by not enjoying work that means you did not care about the patients or something. Not the case at all. Kudos to you for getting free! Seriously! Let me swing on over to your channel! && yep I sell on Poshmark too! I just believe when you do what you love the money will come! Wishing you the best and God definitely has you and I both! Same to all you ladies commenting under the comment!
Girl you just ripped my heart out and stomped on it. This was literally me in 2015--almost word for word. I went into nursing because I came from a medical family and it seemed like the right thing to do. I only did well in school subjects I found personally interesting, which is why I didn't go the med school route. The pre-reqs were going to be so boring, I'd never have gotten the grades required to get into med school. So I went with nursing because I knew at least the classes would be interesting. I really enjoyed nursing school, but around my senior year it hit me that I liked nursing SCHOOL, but was going to hate being a nurse--but by that point, I was already three years in and it was too late. To make matters worse, I'd taken a second part time job my senior year with an airline and was like oh shit--I love this... I don't know that I'll ever love nursing as much as I love this... So I finished out nursing school, and like you, graduation day was one of the saddest of my life. I felt SO crap. I didn't apply straight away to nursing jobs because I was also a competitive dancer and wanted to see if I could get into a touring show for a bit, just to get it out of my system before committing to real life. Well that screwed the pooch, because a year later, no one would hire me as a new grad nurse, who'd been out of school for a year. I ended up having to move states to get a job, and it turned out the job was a profit-driven (even though it was a non-profit, research hospital) hell hole. I lasted a year of having to supply my car with tissues to accommodate my crying on the way home every night before finally admitting I was just straight up in the wrong field. I had to go through all the phases you talked about... Grief, embarrassment, having to defend my decision to everyone I knew, being told I just hadn't found the "right" nursing job, etc. It sucked so hard. In the end, it was worth it. I got re-hired by my airline, and now, five years later, I'm knee deep in a Masters of Aerospace Management program and I couldn't be happier. Moral of the story is, if it feels wrong, it is wrong. Stop and think before you waste literal years of your life. Good for you for following your heart, and for sharing your story. I feel better now.
This video was so timely for me! I’ve been an RN for 6 years and shared many of the same feelings, fears and doubts but still pushed through because I didn’t want to “fail” or “quit”. A couple years ago, I reached my breaking point while working on a unit where bullying was tolerated as part of the culture. Nurses eat their young and I experienced it first hand. My health has deteriorated immensely since I began nursing but I am officially throwing in the towel. My health, sanity, and happiness is WAY more important. Kudos to you for finding the courage to live your truth! It’s not an easy decision but oh so worth it.
I’m an rt and constantly bullied at work also. It’s definitely healthcare in general they eat they’re young. It’s disgusting from an adult perspective.
Erica Ashley some experienced staff forget what it’s like to be new and they laugh and scoff at the newbies just trying to learn and get comfortable with their new career, instead of being helpful. They harshly criticize the newbies.
I know you regret it...your degree does not have to be a waste. You can make use of the degree in ways you may not have expected. Maybe non-clinical nursing like working for research companies as a nurse researcher...or writing...cosmetic dermatology...you don't even have to touch another patient again if you don't want to. It just seems like a waste to leave the profession and the years invested. But if you absolutely don't want any part of nursing...I support your decision with love. Nothing wrong with your decision. All the best in your career. When you find your passion or your path run like the wind girl.
It's ok to go through what you're going through. All those emotions, every bit of your journey up to this point, is well factored into God's Will for your life. Many adults like myself can relate, maybe in other ways, but the moment u decide to share it, means u r riding over the waves. U r being prepared for greatness. My dental hygienist did nursing n just went into dental care immediately. Not trying to minimize your situation, I'm just trying to embrace ur story. So powerful. U r already touching lives. I anticipate your books, speeches n just to see u in your full glory as another powerful black woman (had to drop that in). U r so natural n beautiful. Keep being strong as u r...I love the submission to God! U remind me of this song, "My soul says yes" by Sonnie Badu.
I’ve been nursing for nearly a year now and the last few weeks I’ve been feeling exactly this. Nursing is HARD emotionally, physically and it affects your life around you. I definitely take things home and am constantly anxious being responsible for people’s lives. I’m currently looking into other degrees, I love knowledge and love to study but I’m lost as what to do. I know I have something to fall back on if I’m ever struggling financially but I feel I need to follow my heart. Thank you so much for this!
I’m currently doing home health which should be low stress but I still have anxiety. I am emotionally not happy being a nurse, and I’ve realized my mental health comes first. I’m also afraid to career jump especially right now with covid-19. I need to follow my heart. What have you decided to do?
@@prettygirl_1626 wow thanks for bringing this thread back 😂 I completely changed degrees to follow my passion, I’ve nearly finished my first year of architecture studying online whilst working in coronary care, I feel like the anxiety gets a little better but my hearts not been in it for a while. I will say it’s never too late to change career just gotta give it time to find passions that align with your lifestyle
Your message definitely enlighten me. Everything that glitters isn't gold. I could truly feel your sadness while talking and I wish I could have gave you a hug. I love how your using your platform and life to helping people too! Love you girl and keep pushing because God definitely has a plan!
Hey Linda!!! I'll take the virtual hug 😂. Thank You for those encouraging words too my girl. I definitely believe God has a plan and i'm just getting out of his way! Sending you some love and good vibes too, today! 💕
My Lord!!!!! When you said 'just because you can do something, does not mean that is meant for you', you are preaching it. A law professor said that in a seminar one day & it hit me like an AK 47. He actually said 'just because you can do something, does not mean that you should'. I knew from that day; I was done pursuing law. Now a bachelor and master degree later, I am going to pursue nursing. I have always wanted to be one, and after much prayer, I will do it. God gave me so many signs. Also, I do not think any of my degrees are a waste. Preparation is never a waste of time & God is always on time. Thanks for your story. You will be fine. You are blessed.
"Things that you can do doesn't mean it's meant to you just because you can do it." Wow... that really hit home for me. I relate SO much to this video, and how excited all your friends were when you just weren't into it. That's exactly how I felt when I left my program. Thank you so much for your honesty and for sharing your story!!
My apologies for the late response! Thank You so much for watching and commenting. If you don't mind me asking---how did you know that program was not for you? I'm always so interested in other people's perspectives and journey.
I think the biggest thing for me was I kept telling myself, just a few more years until graduation and I can finally leave this path and pursue something I truly love. It took me a little while, but I soon realized I was just wasting my time/money, studying something I already knew I wasn't going to pursue a career in!
Because, this IS a part of God's plan for you. I believe all will be revealed soon. You did not quit. You are simply pausing, and reflecting, and GROWING!
Hey pretty girl.. the scripture teaches us that when we don't know what to do, we ought to stand still and watch God move mightily on our behalf. I believe you have been called to reach the hearts of people. Take your time, pray without ceasing, and walk the pace that God has set for you. It may take some time, but you will surely get there. Use this time to get closer to God. I've had some days where i felt so stuck, but I knew that to receive my breakthrough I had to seek the Lord. I am so proud of you for making this video. It took me 3 years to get out of nursing school. I know the struggle. The best is yet to come sis! Stay tuned :-)
Nursing is so hard. Very admirable. You have one life. A good pal quit her medicine career. Being a doctor was not for her. She went into real estate. For reals. Much happier.
Thank you for this video. My son left his nursing program after the first year and i will admit i was sad and dissapointed because it was such an accomplishment that he took the enterance exam without studing and was immediatlt accepted AND got amazing grades. He came home one day and told us he dropped out of the program and switched to a opthmolgist technician program. My sister is a murse so i knew tge opportunities and the money and job stability nursing can bring. I love my son so supported this change and quietly dealt with my sadness of what i was not fully understanding. This video has helped me look at the sitution from his view and not from my own dreams for him. he was still getting a degree. he was still going into a licensed profession with avaliable job but mist important he was duscovering what he was really interested in and now is getting ready to graduate this summer. Being a parent we want what is best for our children and sometimes we need to understand what is best for them is to live thier own life.
Just seeing this again .. Well 3 years later my son has graduated, got a job with an amazing practice, after 1year took the position as lead tech for one if their locations and had received bonuses and raises. Loves his job and bought a home this past winter. Success is being happy with your life. Success as a parent is having happy children who can take care of and manage their own life which includes making their own choices. It is lovely to now be invited to his house for dinner and all I have to do in s enjoy the time we spend together
Oh my god girl this spoke to me. I have been trying to become a nurse for 7 years I finally got into a BSN program and now I realize nursing was never for me. God has a bigger plan.
Elisa Bee Same here. Dropped out of Nursing school cause of psychological problems. Noticed that Nursing isn’t really for me and I shouldn’t limit myself.
Same here! There was always something there keeping me from obtaining it. Now that I can, everything in my gut is screaming not to, it's a daily challenge to fight what society has told us about working in the system. I've decided to work for myself.
I’m so proud of you. I know exactly how you feel from my own personal experience. I’ve been a nurse for almost 20years, LPN, RN-ADN, BSN and MSN. I’m only 40 years old. I’ve been a nurse my entire adult life and I have many areas of experience. Being a floor nurse was very gratifying, rewarding but also stressful and MISERABLE. If I could do it over, I definitely would choose business, hands down. However, I felt too deep in to just turn back. So I continued. I Thank God for allowing me to have a profession to take care of myself and children effortlessly. Nevertheless, Nursing sucks on so many levels. Today, I work as Case Manager for a large insurance company. I love what I do. I get bonus checks, extra compensation for travel and I get to work with people from the comforts of my home. On top of that, no overtime, heavy physical case loads and politics. Oh yes, working shifts every other weekend and holidays. I off every weekend and every holiday. I’m so thankful for nursing in that regards. I still get to be a nurse and a social worker as well. Good luck sweet heart. I can’t wait to see your unravel and become your true self. We are all still on a journey. Much Love.
Tanisha Stewart that’s why I love nursing. It’s so flexible. You can take that degree and do so many things. I want to be a travel nurse. I love caring for people and I love traveling. I also love wound care.
Cassie Baker Search Case Management, Utilization Management, and/or Remote RN Jobs. I hope this helps. Almost all the major Insurance companies hire Nurses. I know nurses who have been working in insurance well over 25 years.
I quit college 3.5 gpa 3 classes left in biology w minor n chem....I just kept feeling it was not 4 me I felt so bad and empty.... Now ima hippie n I grow things n live a simple life
Corrie Nicole well i did a lot of thing illegal and legal..... Me n my mom sold plate lunches 4 2 years now I work w waitr...but I'm not materialistic and value people more than things.
Tj Guidry you said you work as a waiter now right? And same. I use to be materialistic but as I got older I stopped caring about that stuff and fully realized it has no true value.
❤❤❤girl!! I too have a degree in nursing that I'm not currently using though for different reasons but many a nights I came home feeling exactly like this thinking I can't do this for the next 40 years. There were aspects I really loved but many I didn't. Good. For. You. Making a choice to be happy in your life. Don't feel bad though, you gained so much experience in this journey so it wasn't really a mistake but a valuablle life lesson that will make you stronger and more connected. This is why I'm unschooling my kids, so they find their passions and nuture their unique gifts and don't feel like they have to live their lives jumping through someone else's hoops! Thanks for sharing, it's important people think about this!!
Hey Monica!!! Ahhh I heard that in one of your vids that you were a nurse so I wondered if you were currently working in the profession! Yes yes yes that me the same thing for me---getting off in the morning just driving back in total silence like I just cannot live this way for the rest of my life. Thank You for sharing this with me and your words of comfort. That really helps. I don't have children just yet but I plan on doing that exact thing or at least giving my children the space to explore. I never want them to settle or feel obligated to do something on my behalf or the behalf of others. 💕
i quit my job 3 months ago ill find a another job soon, not worried about it ! life is to short to be unhappy at job when we all know no company cares about you
I'm quitting today after 4 months of doing psych as a new grad. I had 10 patients to take care of and most were aggressive males. Plus they told me I had to do charge nurse duties. Plus, it's not giving me any experience other than stare at a computer and almost get hit by patients. It was the only job presented to me at the time and it's night shift too 12 hr. Ever since I started night I've not been the same my body is so confused and I haven't slept well in 2 weeks. I had to give it up I couldn't do one more night anymore. I tried days it was even worse I wasn't improving at all on top of that. Quitting was hard at first but it was well worth it. I know I'll find another hospital job but for me I couldn't take going to a unit almost every day where most of the nurses looked down on me as some incompetent weak link. It was humiliating and embarrassing. I had to be honest with myself that I was simply no good at the job. It's not worth it. As a new grad, if you know you won't make it 6 months get the hell out early especially when you're still on orientation.
Spend time with wih the Lord and ask him in prayer what his purpose is for your life. Because his plans for our lives are bigger than our plans . it's says in the Bible to desire the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart.
This is true, and as a believer, I just feel that maybe everyone on Earth does not have a purpose. Some people like me are just losers with no calling, God does not send us a good husband, and we are just odd ball loner types. I think my purpose is to just be here working some dead end job until I drop dead. It sounds grim, but it is true. Sometimes I just feel like a misfit who belongs on the island of misfit toys...no husband, no children, no special calling. Everything I am good at pays low and/or not enough for me to live on as a single woman.
I'm in my late 30s and I've learned it's not all about how much money you make and what others think. It's what you want. I am a teacher and I LOVE it. Maybe teaching nursing would help?
Even if you do feel called to do nursing. Outside forces (management, government, hospital policies) can wear on you and make you feel like nursing was a mistake. Not everyone who quits nursing primarily went into it for the money
WOW....You have touched me. I encountered a similar experience, and to make the long story short, I went back to school to obtain a second degree, and now I am pursing what I really want. I absolutely understand how miserable, and empty you felt on the day of graduation. I was so unhappy that I did not even attend my graduation. My family was so disappointed, but I could not explain to them what I felt at the time. I felt extremely lost, ungrounded....like a wanderer. I know that you will find your calling, and I will stay tuned to see it.
I’m a nurse and I wanted my daughter to become a nurse. She became a nursing assistant first and found out that nursing was not for her. And now she is studying Human Resources. I’m glad she had the encouragement to tell me. I tell everyone nursing is not for everyone u do have to have a passion for it.
Started nursing school and passed all my classes the first semester, but never felt as passionate as my other classmates. I hated waking up everyday because of how intense my anxiety fits were. I felt unhappy and I just couldn’t picture myself doing that. I thought I did but I really was there to make my family proud of me and to make sure I was gonna live without starving or being worried about money like I have been all my life. Just finished the semester last month and decided I wasn’t gonna go back. It sucks and I felt shame for a while but I’m proud of myself for keeping that integrity with myself. It’s better to do something that will make you proud of yourself and generally happy before anything. I’m still learning this lesson, but at least I’m learning it now.
@@jasmine408 I’m currently in my third semester to be a physical therapist assistant! I think something that really helped for me was calling to ask if I can shadow some therapists at some outpatient clinics, researching into more of what they do, and getting information from my school’s program. My advice would be that if you really don’t feel a passion for healthcare at all even after shadowing some potential careers you might be interested in, please don’t be afraid to back out. Honestly, it’s better to not waste your time and money finding that out. I would’ve told my younger self to take my time and not worry about not being in school until I figured out what I REALLY wanted to do. Also, I think I’ve had to do some internal work with overcoming imposter syndrome and finding ways to decompress. This will be so important! And I really got in my head about the expectations my family had on me. Really, they just want to see me happy and flourish in whatever way I do. Any parent would want to see that in their child even though they may pressure you at times to go in a certain direction. At the end of the day, it’s your own life that no one else can dictate for you or shame you for. Please don’t let others pressure you. Find what resonates in your heart and don’t be afraid to take some time to figure it out like…seriously. Some of my classmates are in their 30s and 40s and they’re glad they’re doing this now :)
My mother used to always tell me go to school to make more money. It took me a long time to realize what my school counselor once said, "Do what you like best instead of looking at dollar signs." That is so right. I have quit higher paying jobs that I hated for lower paying ones just to have peace of mind, and this is coming from someone who loves the freedom of having money.
SAME 🙌💛 Been there done that. I've never been happier in my life than I am now and doing what I love here on UA-cam. Started 3 months ago & never looked back. If I had to spend the rest of my life sitting in an empty box doing what I love for free...I probably would. I did the $ things, and I remember that trap. Ideally, it would be good to be able to monetize your passion to make a living at least. But I agree with you, you need to do what serves your heart.
Thanks for being so transparent. I have been a nurse for 25 years. I was in a car accident while working as a visiting nurse and was out of work for 15 months. I was burnt out and actually was greatful for the time off. Nursing is a very physically, emotionally, and mentally taxing profession. Nursing is also a very diverse profession. You don't have to be at the bedside to be a "real" nurse. Nurses are needed in the administrative side of care and our perspective, expertise, and experience is necessary. I'm saying all this to say, before you leave nursing explore your options. There are many positions in many fields that hire nurses because our diverse body of knowledge. Many people don't even know what nurses do so having a sensible conversation with people who are not nurses can be difficult. I could write a book on this. I will just say your work is what you do not who you are.
MSCkelle I'm a 41 yr old CNA/med tech on a path to advance towards geriatrics/hospice/wound care. I've been going to 1,2 classes per semester for a few years, while working in nursing home and home care as a single mom. I have been juggling a few ideas, knowing the parts of the job I love vs not. I've also seen/heard lots of unhappy nurses. Any recommendations on LPN vs RN or social work? Or sources to help me decide which path to follow?
christie fredette I would recommend RN because the training qualifies you to work in many different environments. Employment sites were very helpful for me, it let me know what jobs were in demand, how much they pay, and what credentials you need. Good luck with everything. I'm a single mother too and being skilled has been helpful.
thank you, I will look through the employment sites! I see how having the RN will give me greater opportunity. The LPN was appealing since the prereq's and the duration were less lengthy.
I’ve been an LPN for three years now and I’m no longer interesting in furthering my career to be an RN. I’ve realized that this isn’t my passion and this career is affecting my mental health so much. I’m aware every career has stress. But what I experienced as a nurse was too much. It is not worth it at all. I love videos like these because it shows me that I’m not alone. Just a tip for any young person going into a field because their parents pushed or groomed them to be a nurse, doctor etc. Don’t do it. Follow your passion. At the end of the day, those pressuring you to go into the field aren’t living your life. They don’t know the stress, depression or anxiety you may go through. Live for you.
I am so glad you made this video... Nursing is emotionally draining! It looks good the pay and you will always have a job. But the few patients you have in school, it doesn't prepare you for taking care of 40 patients. The stress...and how can you not take it home with you.Too much responsibility human life, you can t make mistakes...
Im an LPN and I 100% agree. I used to get pressured from everyone around me to get my RN but something in the back of my mind was telling me it’s just not the right move at the moment. After this pandemic I’m sooo happy I never went through with it. I love the helping people aspect of nursing but everything else with the politics and feeling like I’m in a corporation is really starting to get to me ..
Are you still doing nursing ? If not what else are you doing ? I’m debating if I should continue nursing school 😢. I work at a hospital as a pct now and it makes me hate healthcare.
Exactly ! I’m surprised that ppl who go into nursing , don’t know this . Even entrepreneurial opportunities in nursing . Whatever you do will feel under appreciated , even UA-camrs .
colyd88 try another area of nursing. You may be good at teaching or you can do non-patient work (paper work). I am a nurse educator and I love teaching, but hated working in hospitals & nursing homes! Don't be quick to quit! Try other areas of nursing. Blessings!
colyd88 its stressful but very rewarding... i am only a CNA which is harder to me than RN work... but i love my job... i have been trying to get into nursing school for years... someone who really really really really want it cant get it... 😓😓😍
L wood have you tried schools that have a multi-criteria process? Those schools look at not just grades alone, but patient experience too, such as at work or volunteering experience. Since you're a CNA, that can really work to your advantage! And you're certified, extra points for you! If you also have a previous degree, that counts for extra points too. Don't give up!
Its funny because i felt the same exact way when i went to engineering school. I made it through 75% of my program before i ended up dropping out. I simply hated it. I switched to nursing and i freaking love it. I remember how many people including family, counselors and even teachers in nursing school thought i was crazy for switching. It has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. She will find her calling in life.
So crazy you said that! My husband is an engineer and I always used to joke that I should have been an engineer with him! That's not my calling either though lol So glad you made that decision for you!! Definitely so inspiring! Thanks for watching and commenting💖
It’s so funny how different we all are. I finished nursing school, hating it the majority of the time, ended up getting a second degree , and now I’m an engineer.🤣 I love hearing everyone’s stories.
dportal844 Thanks for sharing your experience. That's the thing. I also felt this way before becoming a nurse. If you are a fish trying to climb a tree, you are going against your nature. I think it's amazing how we all have something that we are meant to do. Once we discover our passion we will thrive. The faster we find it, the better for us and society. ~Blessings
dportal844 I am an engineer, have been for quite a few years now. Like Oni said I knew from the beginning that it was not for me but for the same reasons I have carried on till now. I wake up every day feeling miserable wondering why on earth i cannot move forward with my life. I am a single mother. My daughter was born when I was still in school. Now she's 14 y.o. It's time for me to take responsibility. Thank you Oni for your testimony.
I quit nursing dec 2021. I realized that my passion for caring was truly centered in Gods and caring for my husband, children and serving others. I am a great nurse because my passion is literally to care, but the environment just pushes you away. So much witchcraft in the profession (intimidation, manipulation and domination). Being a homemaker is my peace and I’m learning my true role as a woman. Also, started a logistics business shortly after leaving and my husband and I plan to to do this to prepare for times ahead and be a blessing to others that need it. God bless you!
Im the same way girl. I hate nursing. I hate that Ive spent so much time, money, and studying on nursing and Im miserable. I gained 50lbs throughout my studies. Every day I have to go to work I dread it. Its not for me, I love helping others but not in a nursing way. Im always stressed out, working with a bunch of gossipy women everyday, families complaining, you can never do enough, somebody is always unsatisfied. My family, especially my mom because she is a nurse pushed me to do nursing as well. Im thinking about enlisting into the military just to change my career without taking a big L.
Chesney Moon You're not alone. I've been through the exact same drama that you've endured. It's emotionally and physically draining. This profession can take a toll on your mind and body. I'm so OVER and DONE here lately.
That is a good idea. You would have more autonomy as a nurse in the military. You would be able to help a population that TRULY NEEDS QUALITY NURSES..in addition you will have leadership responsibility...BUT make sure that YOU are following YOUR HEART...
Chesney Moon: I’m sure you love the pay check, don’t ya? About those 50lb, it’s not nursing. It’s your inability to control what you eat.. more like bad diet choices... don’t blame it on nursing.
I completely Agree with U If nurses were less #dramatic around each other. Stopped Gossiping & instead respected each other; worked together to help save Patients; it would be soooooo much better. It's not the Profession Profession that's Stressful & Disconcerting; It's all the bitchy Women working in this Profession. They are spoiling it for All Good Hearted & Kind people in the Profession.
God bless you .... in every way possible. I have so much I would like to say to you... I really don't want to do this on this public setting. I was crying and crying through your video... I am a neonatal ICU nurse, and wanted so so badly to see my son become a firefighter and for my daughter to of course go to nursing school.... I went through a major depression when my son left home and moved to LA at 18 and is now 24 and a mechanic.... my daughter graduated high school last year and has been struggling with what she is to do with her life. I had to pause your video and go on the shower so I could cry...not at all became anything you said was hurtful ...or wrong... it was all RIGHT and as a 42 year old woman, your bright. Beautiful, strong presence and belief in God's plans for you...girl.... brought me to a place that I needed to go to and RIGHT at that moment.... your story and willingness to share this extremely vulnerable journey in your life with me and all who have seen your video....brought so much calm and peace to this mamas heart.... my daughter started at the same community college where I got my AA in nursing and was asking me yesterday about my masters degree schooling.... I of course had plans for each of my children .... I knew what I saw them doing....and when everything went sideways when my son left home I just stood there and was completely and utterly shattered. I lost myself for a long...long time. And for my little girl.... who you remind me so much of...I am so afraid that she may be pursuing nursing because this may be what her mother wanted her to do.... I wanted to call her and tell her daughter watch this video with me and to let her know it was ok to think of other things that she may want for her life.... and I will ask her to watch your video with me so we can discuss these feelings...you said that God sends messages that we sometimes do not get right away, I got His message today because of you . Your bravery and truth telling truly has touched my heart more than you could ever know. I do believe that your message and this video is something that can be used as a tool to help other young people find their inspiration, and be led to their passion. As well your message can help mothers and fathers and everyone else...see that we need to rejoice in the choices our children make and know that this life was not meant to be planned out by someone else for them....and that God knows truly where we will end up standing in that place of pure peace. I love being a nurse with all of my being, and instead of telling you... how dare you not love nursing, I want to just hug you and tell you that I am praying that your story continues to move forward and touch the world...you are absolutely meant for exactly what God led you through....nursing school and all the experiences you had after that were not mistakes... they were lessons. And as I tell my children and so many young nurses....maybe the lesson was for someone else. You, I can tell are well loved and cherished by your family and I know for sure that they will love and support anything you do in your life. I pray that my son and my daughter will have this strength that you have to make their lives for themselves and to listen to God's signs....even when they come to you in the form of a very very brave youtube video by a very talented, gifted and beautiful young woman who "quit" nursing..... no way did you ever quit, your path continues to evolve and you grow in every moment more near the exact place that was written for you by our heavenly father. May God give you some peace in your heart, I want to thank you....for sharing with me, I had no idea that today you would be the vessel of that message to me from God...I am sure you were not aware either. I can not wait to see what is planned for you, there are so many changes you are going to make in this world...please add a pin to your worldly map....over here in California..... I am sure that before you know it, your map will be so full, almost as much as that heart of yours will be. Thank you ☔🌈☀
Chrissy! Your comment just left me in tears and pretty speechless. I'm wayyy too emotional lol. Before I filmed the video I said a long prayer and basically just asked God to use me and help me to help others. I had absolutely no idea what would come after and God has really shown up and showed out. I am literally just overcome with emotion just because I now understand my parents' feelings through you writing this. You have no idea how much you just blessed me. I really do hope your daughter watches with you and you guys talk about it. I know I don't know you personally but I can tell you are an awesome Mom and I can see why your daughter would want to make you proud. You watching my video was definitely not by chance. I just want to thank you for writing this, being real with me and transparent. I thank you also for not judging and helping me to now have a different perspective on certain things. Ahh, I just want to say so much but I just can't find the words. Ultimately I just want to say Thank You and I am praying for you and your children. You can always email me as well, anytime. 💖
It is so crazy to me how I came across this video when I’m literally trying to figure out what I’m going to do with my life. Initially I wanted to go into the field of nursing honestly because of the money, helping people, and flexibility but recently doing more research about the downsides of nursing, I don’t know if it’s for me. I feel as though my parents are trying to persuade me to continue and pursue a career as an RN mainly because of the pay but I’m so confused. I don’t want to be stuck doing something that I will not enjoy for the rest of my life just because of high pay. Especially knowing that nurses have to do so much 😪😭
If you doing it for the pay don't do it. People should want to be nurses because they want to make a difference and feel being able to give back. People lives are at stake based on the kind of nurse you are.
haha same here! I know I wouldnt be good at nursing, but its interesting seeing someone go through all the schooling to just be unhappy with their career, it makes me worry. I just quit my job today... Posted about it, though i wasnt an RN, It is still very hard.
I can’t relate to this. I was the first college graduate in my family. I realized nursing wasn’t for me in my first semester. But I was so pressured. So many people were depending on me. And had invested in me. I was soooo miserable. My first job was at a place where nurses ate their young. I had no life. I was emotionally and physically drained all the time. I was depressed. I left the bedside for clinic. It’s a lot better. I actually love what I do. I love helping the patients. But working with the nurses is a lot. Petty messy all the time.
Me too. I'm currently going to send my resignation soon. I can't do bedside anymore and I'm a new nurse 6 months in and the night shift is KILLING me. I'm not the same. My acne is very very bad, I don't sleep, I started drinking just to sleep, my blood pressure went up I got very depressed my hygiene is down the drain so I said fuck it. 26 years old it's not worth it. I left and went to do clinic nursing with better hours. Maybe one day I'll go back to a hospital but starting at a hospital was a big mistake for me
You realized your current career was not something that made you happy and made the change when you were young. You actually saved yourself several years of misery.
Medical careers are not for everyone. I was very fortunate because someone suggested I volunteer at a hospital and become a C.N.A. These experiences are crucial. Yes, you can make a lot of money in healthcare, but your heart has to be in it. It's a lot of work and your decisions can alter a person's ability to trust medical services all together. High paying jobs come without down sides. Thank you for being mature enough to think through your decisions. Really, this work is so difficult. I thank the skilled people that stay in, our lives depend on their sound decision making.
I know most rn are unhalpy but they still working as a nirse because they wanna keep their lifestyles and some use the momey to male to start up a side niche business while they work part time as a Nurse.some work 2 jobs but tired as hell looking like a zombie or they aged
I thank God all the time that I got this volunteer position at the local hospital, because I realized that I hated nursing and when I’d go to the hospital I’d dread going and sometimes I’d leave early and stay in the lobby. Definitely get experience to see if you like what you’re going to do!
I enjoy being a CNA more than being a nursing student and going to clinical. I actually help people as a CNA, nurses just brag about/take credit for wiping a pts ass like once in a blue moon when we as CNAs do it all, day, every, day.
I'm glad you shared your story. Sorry nursing don't make you happy. I am a nurse and everything about it compels me. I enjoy working in the Cath Lab. I found my passion. Nursing isn't easy. It's not like on TV by no means. I am glad to see you are going after your passion. You had signs nursing wasn't your passion but it's ok you started the program and you followed through that says alot. You are committed and determined even when you felt empty. So that tell me that whatever you choose to do you will be successful ...you already are.. you are just searching for your joy and passion. I can't wait to hear that story because it's going to be awesome!
This means so much! Seriously! I really appreciate you and I am glad you left a comment so those who are maybe just having doubts because it's hard can see your comment and feel inspired!! ✊ Thank You for the encouraging words too!😊😘
My feeling is that one must be born a nurse. I spent years doing all kinds of factory work, office work, etc, before finally going to nursing school and graduating at the age of 51 years old. Looking back at my life it dawned on me that I had always been a nurse in my relationships with family and friends/ Nursing is not for everyone, you have got to feel it.
@@redd-iveee4400 I couldn't agree more
So true
I agree! I just posted about this on my channel, good luck to those going through this as well!
But did nursing income help you out at that moment as a single mother?
bay baddie it clearly did if she stayed for 12 years lol
You did the right thing. Imagine if you ruined ur health from that job
Tracey T - great 👍🏽
Good for you.
On my days off all I want to do is stay shut up in my room because of how much talking I have to do
Facts
Lili Da i fealt this in my soul 😂
I'm in the nursing field. I would like it better if I could just do my task and be left alone lol. Sick of the micromanagement.
This is so relatable.
Queen Dom OMG me too!!!
Better to waste money than waste a life. 💗
Beach Cruising 💡
Don't you waste both by quitting something you've spent your life trying to achieve? Either way I get it, I just hope all the nurses in the comment sections who also want to quit find a job that's worth it. Especially after all the hassle they went through.
Coolspygirl no, you waste a life by doing something that you hate for 30 years just because you spent 3-4 years in school for it. There are other options in life and just because you choose a path doesn’t mean it has to be your only path for your entire life.
Your comment is right on time.
That is exactly Right!
sweet pea, I have been an RN for 39 years. you have gifts the Lord has given you. do not stay in a career your heart is not in. just pray, be still and listen to the voice of the Lord. you will be fine.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
i prayed and the lord told me to just sit at home and play video games instead of getting a job. so that's what I'm gonna do! Can't argue with God!! :)

leopardappygirl That was so reassuring to me 💛
@@adamj2683 Hope you have a good support system. You can't survive as a NEET
I remember my professor in my first year in college said to us, that if you went into nursing for the money, you will never be happy. I've been a nurse for more than a decade and all I can say is...she was right.
Grace that’s deep
Grace what money????
Testifying, today. Thank you!
@Pulling the Strings so she can have more nervous breakdowns?
I’m 41 and need to change my career! Feel so lost!
Amy Harbie and you still can. Good luck to you
I’m 44 and feel the same way.
Just waiting 5 more years to retire.”
I lost a lot of hope that day.
Girl I quit all the time as soon as I don’t like something I’m done ! Lol maybe it’s bad but I always make sure my happiness comes first
I wish I could be like that. Right now I’m not too happy with my job but I don’t leave cuz I’ve only been there for a little over a month
Danni Solis there’s nothing wrong with trying different things if you already know you won’t stick around what’s the point ? Might as well do something you love
Same!!!! I thought i was the only one!! I really thought something was wrong with me.
christielhhc.com/success-not-final-failure-not-fatal/
I am 16 right now and I had to choose A CAREER AT 12. That's the school system in switzerland.
Hindsight is always 20/20. Sometimes you have to make a decision with the little knowledge you have and hope for the best and be willing to adapt.
Lotusflower, you raised a VERY good point. Deciding on a career path at 18 is crazy, and schools should be about giving students experience of various fields, and numerous workplaces.
Just left nursing after 4 years of being a nurse. Was unhappy everyday as a nurse. Everything you said in this video really spoke to me.
Olivia Nicole what are you doing now, if you don’t mind me asking?
I would like to know as well. I want to leave bedside, but I would be even happier to leave nursing completely.
I have been a nurse for 5 years and I am quitting my job in 2 weeks to start classes to get certified in IT and get a better career. I hated most days as a nurse and it has been the least fulfilling idea of mine ever.
I dream of another career
Nikki Tikki have u done home health
You go girl, I'm submitting my resignation letter tomorrow with no backup plan...but God 🧡
What are you up to now, since its been 6 months?!
@Nef Faraj Fuck you
Why tho?
@C S lmaoooo fuck on she can bring up doctors if she want they are not special.
Going Up 😂 right? I’m not sure what that was about but I was just saying if someone can decide after 7 years of medical school and residency that they no longer want to do it and have a good outcome, so can this nurse.
C S might want to see a dr for that. A psychologist or psychiatrist preferably.
Nursing is a very tough job and they don't get the respect they deserve !!!
It's not just tough; it's dangerous.

Great reply
I tried to pursue a career in nursing, but I became so depressed and burned out. I loved the patients, but there was so much bullying among nurses and the environment is not for everyone. I never realized it would be so hard. I ended up changing careers.
candice44441 What kind of bullying?
@@JustSaying0023 yup that's why I left. The nurse to nurse bullying is ridiculous
Marina Syndulla what career did you choose
Candice...same, im a student in my final year and the bullying has shaken me, i have been bullied, humilated and harrassed by other nurses.
I went to do IT as an administrative assistant. Love......it
I quit nursing after 12 years. No regrets!
🙌✊💜💜💜
I was in an accelerated nursing program and yes it was busy, but I knew in my heart it wasn't for me. I quit after 5 months and decided to pursue my Masters instead and happy about my decision.
SPOT ON!
Donna Martin what are you doing for work now? I'm 10 years in & stuck on Tele & I don't care for it.
Same boat here. Just curious as to what you're doing now.
Thee Mademoiselle The money is good but you are right, if a person doesn’t have the passion to be a nurse, you will never be happy!

I was a cardiac nurse, endoscopy nurse, and now a public health nurse and I dread it. You have inspired me, individuals glorify nursing when they should not.
What did you hate exactly? I hear both ... love nursing so much it I hate it. What are the things that really bothers you. Ty
What is your role as a cardiac nurse and what do you hate about public health nursing?

Very depressing
Are you still doing nursing ? If not what else are you doing ? I’m debating if I should continue nursing school 😢. I work at a hospital as a pct now and it makes me hate healthcare.
I will be taking the NCLEX next month. I love helping people but doing clinical thought me a lot. I don’t want to be cleaning poop for all the days of my life. So I’ll use nursing as a stepping stone. Being a nurse is like being a professional, well educated maid. I want to be respected as a professional. But I definitely want to remain in health care…

I think theres a IT nurse. I believe they are called like informatic nurse? Is that what you are trying to pursue?
Amen.
Ebony LaVette The history of Racism has shaped this behavior towards black nurses. There are articles that are talk about this.
Ebony LaVette Disgusting.
I was always assumed to be the CNA and made to feel different than my RN peers. Was called names, yelled at, & pressured to take on more.
be a catalyst for change, sister..shine bright!!
Yes! Yes!
Crystal Blue I felt the same way and I carried all A’s
I know exactly what you mean. Why I’m going for med
I quit too! I absolutely hated it. It did not align with my soul or spirit.

Thank you babe!
Dyneisha Brown I’m a CMA currently and thinking of my next steps
Good luck on whatever it is that you have in mind next 🤗
They definitely lied to us! I was like "THIS IS NOT WHAT NCLEX WAS TALKIN BOUT"
KcollinsRN that’s what I akways said about Radiology . Don’t do it or shadow a tech for 6 months bc it sure is difference then what you think it is
What you doing now? Feeling sane sane depressed
Life is short and I would advise anyone who is unhappy in whatever you are doing to get out..Life is to short to be miserable...
Amen Amen Amen!
I'm starting my nursing program next week. This video's making me nervous! But i am passionate about being a nurse, hopefully it works out well.
NurseJen healthcare is hard and nurses are often abused but lots of nurses love what they do. They just need a little reminder sometimes.

If only school was free...
Here where i live it is. You only pay for books and things you need. Every school so elementary school ,middle school ,high school ,collage it is all free.
Well you spend 15k for school, you can get that back in a few months.
Ajla Kamberovic where do you live ?
Why should taxpayers pay for someone to go to school for nursing and then have them quit because they don’t like it. That’s on her.
@@krystal3733 shutup. People don't know what it entails until your Experiencing it. So shove your judgments up your @ss, k..
Wake Up this is true. I could never! Such hard and thankless work
Wake Up ii
Wake Up EXACTLYYYY.... like after one semester i knew i was done with it because it wasnt for me. You are so strong girl!!!
Thank you so much! Praying for you also!
All Things Nola Do what you really want to do. Do not waste your time and money. The money will come. Be happy!
Ms ch Oh my goodness I can't thank you enough for the support. God bless!
U can still finish nursing and go into business. The nursing field is soooo broad
just made the hard decision of nursing not being for me and feeling like a disappointment. and then i open youtube and the first thing that popped up was this video. definitely a sign from God. thank you
What you doing now?
And how pray sir, are you gonna pay for 54 years of doing exactly what you want, any time you want?
Don’t understand your comment or your point. My point is to do something you enjoy doing and do not waste your time on anything else because you actually only have a few years in the grand scheme of things to really enjoy yourself so it is very important that you enjoy your work. If you don’t like what you are doing you need to make a change now because you are wasting your life. If you put up with a job that you do not like you will wake up one day and realize that your life has past you by
Everyone thinks they have a lot of time...Until they don't.
This is how I feel as a CNA!!!!
Mark Sanders Wooow thank you
For anybody having doubts about going to community college: There is nothing wrong with going to community college. The only difference between my friend and I is the debt. Signing the loan papers is easy. Once you get your first bill from the lender, reality kicks in REAL QUICK.
so true!!!!!
Hahaha
Girl, I wish I did cc! Ugh can’t go back now! 😢
God bless
Are there any other options besides nursing that can still get you a job with a nursing degree?
I feel the exact same way. I want to do something else with my life but I just don’t know what 🙄
This is exactly me also, and I just graduated a month ago. I'm not looking forward to starting this journey honestly, I dreaded going to classes and clinicals. I only did it for my family and for them to get off my damn back. Not sure what to feel going in, but I don't want to make a degree useless, you know?
Dear whatsmyname; Please do what makes YOU happy!!! You do not owe anyone anything. Please reply to me, and tell me how you go on. All the best.
I think everybody who wants to be a nurse/doctor should be a CNA for at least 6 months first
I regret it so much. Nursing is so stressful
ApolloRED are you a nurse??
Straight
ApolloRED hey i’m late but what was stressful for you.
Keep studying get your NP degree. Nursing may be hard but you can keep moving on and eventually end up with an amazing career.
How are things now?
Look at what you're doing now..Your decision found a way to help others like me. My parents told me that passion will only fade, later on in life it's all about the pay/money because we pay bills and all. But to me, that's not living. The only thing we own in this life are our own moments. We don't own anything when we leave this earth, even our soul, it belongs to God. The only thing we own is our moments while living..
You just blessed me with this comment Nina!!! That spirit and mindset you have---keep it and share with others! Thank You😘❤️💕
Nina,
That was so beautiful and poignant. I wish everyone thought that way. This world would be so much better to live in....
I have noticed that a lot of black women are pushed into nursing.... does anyone else feel this way?
Leigh J yes...it's accessible at the community college levels and not as expensive
OMG this is a topic of discussion. hv u noticed most black women in nursing work mainly night shifts
Maame Yaa Been working nights for over 20 years. Never day shift because I don't do well with management, excessive family members, etc.... and their attitudes! Can't do it!! Lol
Black women are only made to take care of others and not ourselves. We been “mamified” in society. I’ve been a nurse for 7 years
I’m a night shift nurse too. Can’t deal with all the daytime bull shit

Ahhh that means THE absolute most Marcyyyy!!!You have no idea! I love you more foooo! 😁💕💕💕💕
Aww. I feel same about her too because this is how I feel.
Isabella I understand 100%. Let’s all help each other out
Isabella those bitches. Bite back. Stand up for yourself. Then they will leave you alone
You nailed it with the dog eat dog term
off-topic but you remind me of Kelly Rowland

" If it feels wrong, then it is wrong " - Woww . Truest words spoken
This video was so timely for me! I’ve been an RN for 6 years and shared many of the same feelings, fears and doubts but still pushed through because I didn’t want to “fail” or “quit”. A couple
years ago, I reached my breaking point while working on a unit where bullying was tolerated as part of the culture.
How? Mental or physical?
Hello Ashley what happened to your health?
I’m an rt and constantly bullied at work also. It’s definitely healthcare in general they eat they’re young. It’s disgusting from an adult perspective.
what do you mean nurses eat their young
Indigo Girl Great advice!
Such an amazing and positive reply!
That's some really good advice. Ty
you can go into management
When you realize while watching a video about ignoring signs that you yourself are ignoring the same signs.

Yup same thing I was telling myself! Lesson learned though and you got stronger in the mean time! 💪
That’s bull crap. If God didn’t want you to do something, or if it wasn’t meant to be then he wouldn’t make the pathway so easy. Sheesh.
Because, this IS a part of God's plan for you. I believe all will be revealed soon. You did not quit. You are simply pausing, and reflecting, and GROWING!
Wow, I’ll be more kinder and understanding to nurses.
Thank you! It’s a miserable job, especially when patients beat you up (literally or figuratively).
Lexy!!! ❤️❤️❤️Thank You and Amen!
Wow you're an amazing mum 😘 bravo!
For real ❣

I hope my mom will come to understand what I'm going through with nursing school.
Just seeing this again .. Well 3 years later my son has graduated, got a job with an amazing practice, after 1year took the position as lead tech for one if their locations and had received bonuses and raises.
How did you find/get this nursing job? I really want a job with this flexibility so that I can be more available for my kiddos
Did you get A social work degree as well
Hazel ! No, but most of the work consist of a social work background. So, it’s more like on the job training.

@@mariekano9730 what did you end up doing?
Damn......sis I thought I was alone. Thank you for being amazing and brave to posting this.
You are def not alone!!
This was probably the most honest, sincere, heartfelt video I have watched on youtube!!! You go babygirl!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bronzy Ace I was thinking the same--the most honest, most courageous UA-cam I can recall seeing! 😍

I've been feeling this way too 😕. I totally appreciate the honesty in your post.
I'm in my late 30s and I've learned it's not all about how much money you make and what others think. It's what you want. I am a teacher and I LOVE it. Maybe teaching nursing would help?
Nursing is a calling!,do not go for the job stability or money you will be unhappy and a risk!!
Charmaine Blake what are you doing now?
I’m a nurse and I wanted my daughter to become a nurse. She became a nursing assistant first and found out that nursing was not for her. And now she is studying Human Resources. I’m glad she had the encouragement to tell me. I tell everyone nursing is not for everyone u do have to have a passion for it.
Thank God she was brave and Thank God you were such a great Mom to love her in spite of your own desires!! 💖
✊✊✊
Thank You!
Pllm30 Same here. Sometimes the money is just not worth it.
Thank you for saying this..needed to read this!
Midwest Kandi There are many opportunities for nurses in both of those areas. I currently work for an insurance company.
MsCkelle. Write that book!
😁😁😁
I love how you talk about God ❤️
💖He's my rock!
Right!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Nursing is multifaceted, not only bedside nursing. You can take your career to so many levels. Research, insurance, sales, tech.
Tricia Waite am so Glad someone here stated that Nursing is not just working in a hospital dealing with pt. It is so much you can do as a Nurse.
Can you elaborate more on the insurance part and tech? Sounds interesting, I’m also a nurse!
Exactly. More than bedside. It goes way beyond that. You can be an RN and not be at the bedside. Spread your wings😘
Exactly ! I’m surprised that ppl who go into nursing , don’t know this . Even entrepreneurial opportunities in nursing . Whatever you do will feel under appreciated , even UA-camrs .
I’ve been a nurse for 11 years and it’s the most stressful job ever!!!!
If you don't mind sharing, What area are you in?! I just like hearing other specialties people work in!

colyd88 try another area of nursing.
Thanks for watching and commenting💖
dportal844 me toooooooo
Chesney Moon I’m also a nurse, that is thinking about joining the military. Any update on how that is going for you?
Especially knowing that nurses have to do so much 😪😭
im on the same boat as you exactly!! im panicking
Kayy girl same!! Like i don’t know if i want to go into nursing to actually help others or because of the pay.
If you doing it for the pay don't do it. People should want to be nurses because they want to make a difference and feel being able to give back. People lives are at stake based on the kind of nurse you are.
*feel joy
haha same here!
Maybe one day I'll go back to a hospital but starting at a hospital was a big mistake for me
How is it like working at a clinic?
Yess. And most of the times they are so jealous of all newcomers like they want them out
You realized your current career was not something that made you happy and made the change when you were young.
LA Turley a CNA is not a nurse
I know most rn are unhalpy but they still working as a nirse because they wanna keep their lifestyles and some use the momey to male to start up a side niche business while they work part time as a Nurse.some work 2 jobs but tired as hell looking like a zombie or they aged
Agree completely, LA. I tell people who want to be nurses to get their CNA license first, and shadow before accepting a job offer.
✊ Thank You for the encouraging words too!😊😘
I was truly inspired by your post. Thank you very much. I feeling like nursing is something I definitly would love to do.
I could never be a nurse. Much respect to to people that can, and much respect to you for trying!
Raylin Me either ! I want a good paying job but I want to enjoy it as well.
Amen
