I would not mind a mirror matchup once a week, but i will watch every episode no matter the matchup anyway. Basicly it become a daily ritual to watch this cast.
I think that you could do something like “Mirror Match Mondays”, just once a week would be enough to sprinkle it throughout your schedule. But it would be nice if someone else curate and feed them to you so we know beforehand that we’ll at least get to watch better quality matches.
After 25-ish years, it's the first time I notice that scarabs appear on the mini-map. Also, I don't mind Protoss mirror matchups. Even if you're not a Protoss fan, it's just so satisfying to see that blue goo everywhere.
After 25 years I just noticed that when a reaver dies it doesn't refun dthe money for scarabs building!! I assumed it gave the money back like gateways with units making. I played the game at a high level for a long time and never knew that.
I love all three mirror matchups, but I just love watching Brood War. Spoiler: I think Motive got tunnel vision. He could have taken the last shuttle to the bottom, go across, and get into the main and at least gotten SOME damage, but instead it did zero.
Honestly that's like E rank level control. The shuttle with 2 reavers is by far the most important thing in the game at that point, you gotta watch it.
@@alexfriedman2152 you too watch the minimap, man. Tyson's reaver scarab dudded on Motive's probes due to Motive's micro at that exact time he lost his own shuttle
I enjoy the mirror matches as well. Perhaps not on a high frequency but they are nice from time to time. As an aside, the rich games that you've been putting up are really interesting! He's a solid player and he's contending with some tough opponents, win or lose. Really hoping for a zelot mirror matchup zvz! Or a scan/bishop vs whoever for tvt.. However I won't complain if it's not. Thank you for shaking things up a little bit. ♡ your casts bring me great joy, and chills.
I don't even play the game anymore, but I like a mirror match now and again. ZvZ is especially interesting, imo. It feels like the fundamentals are amplified. Motive didn't have vision and Tyson had map position that neutralized two threats before they could do damage.
Funniest cast in a while. For mirrors, I love long strategic TvTs. ZvZ is such a "will it be good or will it fizzle?" PvP bores me but you at least get decent ones when you need to watch them.
Hi Artosis!! From a purely spectator POV: PvP>TvT>ZvZ. I feel PvP is more volatile and fun to watch, TvT is very strategy oriented and methodical, and ZvZ tends to just come down to micro and mind games, in my very humble opinion. Love the casts as always!!
I'd been away from watching SC for a long time and I was about to ask about mirror matches as well. Too bad such videos don't do as well bc I enjoy them.
I’m a fan of mirror matches, except for Zerg. Terran is my favorite mirror match and PvP is my second one. Having said that, I do enjoy ZvZ when it’s a series of matches between 2 high level players. Like Calm and Queen or Hero, Jaedong etc. Problem is the luck factor but in a best of 3 or more it’s a good indicator that it’s more than a simple lucky shot. TvT has been my favorite ever since that OSL semifinals (or finals can’t remember) between Flash and Baby (forgot his new name lol). Hate that many casters don’t do a lot of them because of how long they can last.
Personally, I enjoy mirror matchups just as much. It's interesting for me to see players duke it out but while having the same exact tools. One or two casts every week would be fine with me
I like all matches, mirror or not. Mirror matches imo can be really good. Been watching Brood War and SC2 Korean tourneys for over a decade from Canada.
imo all matchups can be interesting, mirrored ones too, although zvz is usually the most interesting one (again in my opinion) - all depends on a replay.
TvT is the most strategic matchup in Brood War, how can you not love it? ZvZs are usually nice and fast and if not, they are absolutely epic games. PvP also has a lot of strategy involved. I think the mirror matchups in BW are techincally just as good as the non-mirrors, they are just aesthetically less pleasing than watching two different races fight. Whole different story than SC2 where the mirrors are just less fun in general and usually devolve into two people spamming the same units and the guy who loses less workers to harassment wins the game.
Mirror matches are okay occasionally, but I like them less than any other matchup. Maybe once every couple weeks. I like TvZ, TvP, and ZvP best in that order.
mirror matches are a hoax, some say a myth. I once met a mirror match deep in the woods. Apprehensively, I accepted its presence and we embraced there in the forest, we laid there amongst the moss and twigs and I knew what we felt was mutual. When I awoke the mirror match was gone, but my memory of that day will last forever...
I once met a mirror match sitting in the street looking at me funny. he said "Son". I said "Dad" is that you in disbelief. We embraced warmly. Then he headbutted me kicked me in the Nuts and told me to stay off ladder matches or i'll end up like him.
PvP and TvT are fun matchups and plus theya re 100% balanced and if you lose it's on you. There's no balance whining, which is good. ZvZ is super boring though. PvP late game is awesome. We need more PvP at high level.
I did not know even after so many years... that Scarabs do not give you the money back when the Reaver dies.... That's wild. I really thought you got the money back like from gateways and production buildings.
you mean while they are building and the reaver dies? didnt know about that either. its only 20 minerals so i guess it rarely ever matters. maybe if you queue up 5 after the reaver is empty and then it gets killed, you lose 100 minerals? that would matter in a low eco game.
@@TheSuperappelflap Well... it's 15 minerals per scarab but yeah you don't get the money back if they're building and it dies! I also thought it gives it back because buildings give the money back for qued units.
i prefer non mirrors, but i'll still watch them because any starcraft is better than no starcraft. when i was playing i liked watching my race in mirrors because i was always looking to improve, but in general i'd say my preference for watching mirrors goes P>Z>T. I don't know why PvP is one of my favorite mirrors considering I've mained both Terran and Zerg for long periods of time but never protoss. TvT is just too long...ZvZ is too gimmicky....it almost feels like a UMS game were you only have access to certain units....but PvP feels sorta legit both playing and watching.
See, what you gotta do is run six separate casting channels, one for each matchup, and upload a video to each of them every day. That way, those of us who actually want to see ZvZ can get what we want, and all the absolute scrubs who can't handle that matchup can still get their fix of the easy shit. I'm kidding, but ngl I would love to see it if only you could handle six times the workload
I know this sound pretty dumb, but i want to support your channel by liking all your uploads, but often forget. I do think theres more of me out there and perhaps it would help increase the like-ratio of your vids if you asked for a like in the beginning of the video. Even though i see a argument of why you wouldn't want to do that because some people find it annoying. It wouldnt bother me though.
I wouldn't mind seeing more TvT and PvP. I'm fine without seeing ZvZ as much just because the matchup is so straight forward, comparatively, unless it's like that Effort vs. Action game.
I feel all three mirror matchups are slightly inferior for spectators (and players) than the three non-mirror matches, and this is nearly by design in any RTS game. The mere fact of the matchups being-non symmetrical makes it way more exciting, since different units battling different units will usually have more strategical and tactical nuance. Think how lame zealot vs. zealot or vulture vs. vulture battles are compared to fx. zergling vs zealot, or dragoon/zealot vs. vulture/tank. I'm not saying mirror matchups are bad, and in high stake games (think SSL RO16 and above) they can be almost as exciting as non-mirrors, but the asymmetry simply prevails in making the non-mirrors more fun and spectacular. For your last point, I play zerg, and I'm not sure I enjoy zvz more than tvt or pvp. I of course know a lot more about the matchup, which can make it exciting if I see something I can try to replicate in my own games, but just as a spectator, they all seem comparable, albeit in very different ways.
hello mr artosis i hope you have a pleasant poop. I like mirror matchups, but i don't like the part of tvt where people just make vultures and then someone randomly wins. this is unfortunate because you, an honorable terran player, know the most about that matchup. if you ever decide that you have kids and you want to spend time with your family and are therefore switching to protoss, i look forward to your pvp analysis
As a terran player even I find TvT just boring and can go to long and methodical which is super annoying as a spectator. ZvZ can go super fast and just dont like the gameplay. Lings vs lings and Mutas vs Mutas is just boring to me. PvP is a fun mirror match up. Not sure why but as a spectator I enjoy it. Just watching 2 regards swing their arms at each other is fun i guess.
ZvZ: Lings, Mutas TvT: (Marines), Vulture, Tanks, Goliaths, Dropships, (BCs) PvP: Zealots, Dragoons, High Templars, Dark Templars, Shuttle, Reaver, Observer Your enjoyment of the mirror match-ups seems to be correlated to the amount of different units used. ; )

i like seeing games where i don't particularly have to root for someone and balance is removed from the equation.

The only good thing about Protoss vs. Protoss is, a Protoss will lose! Xenos Scum!
Beware the alien, the mutant, the Heretic.
You can hear in his voice that Artosis got so upset at Motive.
Please Artosis, can we have a Flash vs Flash mirror match?
Agreed
The nice thing about mirror matchups is that I don't have to watch Zerg beat one of the races that I like.
I like what this comment implies.
Those “reaver in a shuttle” losses were brutal
I for one as a Terran enjoyer love seeing protoss kill each other
I came here to comment the same. :) I love PvP, because in the end one protoss gets annihilated.
Every Terran player wins in a PvP
I love all three mirror matchups, but I just love watching Brood War.

TvT : The only mirror I really like to watch.
PvP : The only mirror I don't mind playing.

I love ZvZ. The margin is so razor-thin. TvT is my least favorite.
Surprisingly fun PvP!
I'd prefer mirror matches to be few but I do still think they're important to watch now and then.
This is funny. I was just thinking about mirror matches the other day and this appears on my feed. That 5G network reading my brainwaves.
The title changed from "How to Snipe a Reaver" to "Don't miss this spread!"

Mirror Match Monday!!!!!
As a terran player, I actually really like watching ZvZ... I don't see it enough to get bored, and each match just feels so crazy that it's exciting.
thanks for the listening to that guy in the comments!
Mirror mirror on the wall…
I think there must be a balance of replays including MIRRORS matches (yes, all of them). Not only the different-races ones.
I think the one thing you can say SC2 definitively has over SC1 is the mirror matchups are more interesting and varied.
I’m not a player but I like watching mirrors. I’m fine getting an extra long tvt video every so often. Also full support for Mirror Matchup Mondays.
this game felt like watching chess
as a non-player I don't mind the mirror matches too much but I feel like I can follow the flow of the non-mirror matches easier
