You are a master at laying those floorboards. Seeing you and your son doing the floor brought back so many good memories of my son and his father doing similar things. We built our first home when our son was 2 years old. We continued to renovate and build homes for over 30 years. My son would always be asking when we had barely finished one house where we ere going to build the next one. He remains in the business of building to this day, he is 37 years old now. He remembers that first house with a lot of joy. You and your son will sit and remember these days as well. Thanks so much for sharing.

I'm delighted it brought back good memories Diane. I love the fact the boys will have these videos to look back at when they are older.

Ahh Sylvia I'd have given up ages ago too but each step makes life so much more comfortable in the house. It really is starting to feel cosy.

Just being a parent is a tough job. To go from a lifetime of only looking after yourself to raising and nurturing kids who are just so dependant on you is huge. I'm not sure how mankind survived so long. Imagine raising your kids in a cave and having to go out hunting to feed them!!

I noticed insulation in the fireplace in the other room upstairs - that's good. Did you also insulate under the kitchen floor between the joists? that might make the kitchen warmer. flooring looks grand. I was wondering how you fix the flooring, or if it just floats? putting a bead along the edge should secure it somewhat. Hope the car's not too expensive to repair, and hope the dog recovers quickly. All the best. JP

I've still to do under the kitchen and the hallway. It should make a big difference hopefully. I have a gadget that measures thermal bridges and all these things do make a difference. The floor just floats, it's so big that it just doesn't move once you get over a certain size. Manu is on the mend now and the eye is almost back to normal. Still waiting on insurance to send out their 'expert' for the car. What a rip off industry. If I'd been able to get the car and everyone here I'd have it back on the road already. The French love paperwork.
