This is Awesome. I am just beginning my kayak journey in the bay and this gives me much more confidence about getting out of the Severn and south rivers and fish the bridge
Great video!! Thx. I’m sending this to my son, as a ‘How to’ because you explain safety and real… fishing…. As I’ve done many years ago. Thanks for sharing this:)
Great work. I appreciate you sharing. I will be out that way soon. Do you recommend any fish finders to use while out on the kayak? I plan on beach fishing and pier fishing first. Thanks again. Enjoy retirement.
Hi, thank you. I do recommend a fish finder, but it’s not essential. I like the ability to see if there’s life underneath me or not, but they’re not foolproof in a kayak in a moving tide. If you don’t have one, then spend a few minutes here and there, if you get no bites then move on. If not the rock pile, then sooner or later one of the pilings may do it for you. Of course the key is having enough live fish for bait, or jigging with plastics. Good luck, have fun.
Very nice job with the video. It`s one of the few fishing videos I watched completely from beginning to end. I cross the bridge several times a year and have always wanted to fish under it, but haven`t yet. Thanks!
Hi, thank you. I’m still surprised that Enjoying Retirement wasn’t taken. Anyway, I’m excited to have the weather warming up and the bay beckoning. Take care and good luck.
Hi, thank you. I appreciate it. I was surprised that no one else had claimed Enjoying Retirement before me, I reckon I got lucky. Self fulfilling prophecy 😀
What a great video! I am not a fan of the circle hooks but I understand why they are mandatory use for rock in MD. I need to get out on the water again. Last weekend I had a four day weekend and all I did was house work 🤮
Hi, I recommend you check out snaggedline.com and introduce yourself in the Maryland section. Though the participation isn’t as high as it was before, you might be able to find someone to meet up with. Good luck.
ive been there 4 times i think. i've never had any luck live lining. we did however hit a jackpot one day when there was striper blitz from 9 all the way to 2 pm.. they just kept moving.. I was having hard time trying to keep up from my kayak. But they were all schoolie size.. Hope i can get there this year. Thanks for the tips and good luck with your channel.
Hi, thank you. I hope the information helps. It took me several years to start catching fish somewhat regularly out there. With luck this video will help lessen the learning curve for others. Thanks for subscribing, in fact you became my 400th subscriber! This video has really caught on. My thanks to you and everyone else who has subscribed.
Great video…thank you for sharing I am new here in the Bay Area and I have my kayak ready, when season starts if you want to have student companion…please let me know
Hi, thank you very much. Once it starts getting warmer again I'll be back on the bay and hopefully get some more local videos out. For now I'm enjoying going to other places and doing other things. There's a lot of ways to enjoy retirement and I hope you'll enjoy some of my other videos as well. Take care, Ted
Hi, not yet. I haven’t seen any nor have I heard of any others catching them up here. The primary fish I’ve seen around the rock pile are striped bass, bluefish and white perch. A couple years ago I heard of a black drum up here also. Close by are also croakers, spot, catfish, yellow perch, skates, and occasionally flounders and speckled trout. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more southern fish make there way up here in the coming years though. Heck, even dolphins are coming up here again.
Hi. I use a medium as well as a medium-heavy rod. 6’6”, with Penn spinfisher 4500 reels. I usually have 20 or 30 pound braid on them and use 20 pound mono leader. Above the swivel I generally have a half ounce sliding sinker, some folks will go with an ounce or more if the marks are reading deep. I hope that helps.
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. Good luck with your channel. There’s a learning curve to getting started but don’t let it get you down. Have fun with it.
Hi, it’s both. I’ve noticed quite a few fish throughout the world are called rockfish, probably for the same reason that in Maryland we call Striped Bass, Rockfish. It’s definitely not the same rockfish you will find on the west coast or other places. In the east you will see Striped Bass referred to with their formal name as well as Rockfish or Stripers. Thanks for watching.
Just so you know, Hogan signed into law senate bill 318 "RIGHT TO FISH" so now lets work on doing away with those permission slips/fishing licenses, we all have an inalienable right to fish they have no Authority to make us bye a permission slip fishing license !
Yes, they are very much regulated. Check the state’s game and fish department for the specific rules. They vary by state, and even within the state depending upon what water you are on, as well as by time of year.

Hi, thank you. I don’t plan on making money from my videos so there’s no clickbait or fake excitement. Just some fun fishing and information :)

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’m not a flashy UA-camr, so I try to make up for that by providing useful information. Take care.
Awesome! Thank you!
You're welcome, and thank you.
Enjoyed your vidio. I too recently retired. I live about 2 hours away from the bay bridge we would love to try it next spring / summer.
Hi, thanks. Best of luck fishing. I hope the video helps. Take care.
Thank you so much for sharing. I have only fished the banks and piers around Annapolis. I really want to get a kayak. This helps a lot.
You're welcome. I'm glad it helped. I know it can be tough starting out and it's not a cheap investment. Good luck and have fun.

I am in the process of buying a kayak. I'm thinking about a Hobie outback for comfort and stability. What are you using?
Hi, In the bay I use my 2015 Hobie Outback. I love it. Perfectly fine for the bay, just have to time it and go when the wind is down under 7.
Take me with you dude!
Congratulations on your retirement and thank you for your service!! Great video by the way! I really like the name of your channel too!!

John, hopefully a weekend of house work will earn you a couple weekends of fishing.
Get used to circle hooks and you will never go back.
I just ordered me a pedal boat, I need someone to teach me how to properly use stuff to fish at the bay.

Heyo,
What type of kayak are you using there? Is that the Hobie or one of the other brands with a propeller system?
Hi,
It’s a 2015 Hobie Outback.
Great video and presentation….subscribed!
Nice catch you have idea when is las day for rockfish thanks
Hi, thanks. The last day of rockfish season in 2021 is December 10th here in Maryland. Good luck.
Thanks so much and I’m give you 👍🏻
where did you launch from? I fish there from Sandy Point and it takes forever to fight the tide to the bridge
I launch from the main boat launch at Sandy Point, much closer than the kayak launch.
hello new subscriber one of the best videos congratulations nice adventure

Would this work in July?
Yes, it will, if the fish and conditions are cooperating.
What color yo zuri is deep diver is that ?
Hi, unfortunately that lure has come and gone from my box. Hung up on something and lost it. I believe it was a blue/silver.
I stand corrected, looks more like the silver/black. I use both.
Nice video... calm voice haha..
Is there any limits on how many rockfish you take?
1 rockfish 19" or over ,per person per day
Great Video!! New Sub..Awesome job my man..
Bro I wanted join you about kayak fishing new to MD
Well done. Subscribed.
Thanks, I appreciate it.

Are there still perch in the rivers like middle river, back river, and Severn, thanks in advance
Hi, I can speak for the Severn and say yes. We’ve still got a few more weeks before they start moving to deeper holes in the river and bay.
There should be plenty of smaller perch in the rivers. The larger perch seem to hold out in the bay and river mouths this time of year
I always wondered if Sheepshead make their way up that way? Have you ever caught them there?
Hi, not yet. I haven’t seen any nor have I heard of any others catching them up here. The primary fish I’ve seen around the rock pile are striped bass, bluefish and white perch. What are the spinning rod specs (length, lure weight range, etc) for the rods you use for live lining?
Hi. I use a medium as well as a medium-heavy rod. 6’6”, with Penn spinfisher 4500 reels. I usually have 20 or 30 pound braid on them and use 20 pound mono leader.
