My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
One thing I noticed when fishing that current is to let the line out in 10’ increments. If you try to do it all at once it will sweep out. A little bit at a time and on the eddy side and you can get 3/4 oz down there. With too heavy of weight I’m not sure how well you could feel the bite. But I’m no expert
How long does it take you to kayak to the bring? And where did you launch from? Love fishing the chesapeake and would be interested in trying a kayak fishing trip!
Definitely challenging! In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have attempted that without a backup drive system or trolling motor with me. But in the worst case scenario, I just would have been embarrassed and had to get someone to tow me back in, that's why we picked a pretty day!
That's cool, what time of year and where do you launch from? I've kayak fished at multi peaks many time, caught sheep's there in the fall, but that's too far run to the bridge.
Nice video, question I moved to VA from Florida over 3 years ago and haven’t attempted to fish since moving here. Since watching your video I’m going to take some days off and make the two hour drive from Woodbridge and try my luck there, would like to know what you use to catch cobias?
Cobias are pretty easy, hardest part is getting around one. My best recommendation would be to fish from Buckroe Pier if you are boatless. Easier to get one there than kayak.
We put in at Fisherman's Island. Most people fish the other side of the bridge which is what I would recommend. Pretty dangerous to do what we did IMO, we had the perfect conditions for it and even that was challenging.
Be careful if you go. You can get in trouble in a hurry out there, what we did was only possible because of a weather window combined with the tide change lining up at the right time of day. I had 30lb braid on the spinning rod I targeted the sheepshead with.
@@nolanminor6761 when we would come down for the Cobia in the first week of July every year, we always stayed for a week in Cape Charles bcuz many times we’d only get 3 days of fishing bcuz of the conditions. We would take our 35’ Maycraft and ride down from the Eastern Shore of Maryland part of Chesapeake Bay.
I snapped the belt when I first got the kayak (used). Replaced the belt, and have had no issues since. I had my drive serviced between tournament seasons and carry a spare during competition. (I know the spare isn't a realistic option for most)
And when I'm fishing outside of hobie competition I am running a newport NK180. Between that and the drive I think I should always be able to travel if something goes wrong and I need to make it back safely
The current was ripping so hard at that point that I could barely do anything besides pedal, but I agree I was bummed when editing that there wasn't a good view of that fish, it was a little over 20" long
If you saw the contents of my kayak you would know I don't throw trash anywhere but beside and underneath my seat. You think I'd put it in a video if I was throwing trash in the water??
@@nolanminor6761 Looked like it to me too but as I slowly played it back, I can see you holding on to it and putting it somewhere in your Kayak. Figured someone here would comment on this but also figured an avid fisherman such as yourself would rather jump in after your trash before you littered your fishing grounds.
Don’t feel he littered, or did so intentionally. If he didn’t care, wouldn’t have crushed the air out the bottle, twist the cap air-tight; to mitigate any chance wind or whatever displacement into the water. I hate people trashing our resources, don’t think this was one of those cases. IMO
Have gotten lots of comments about this. There's a place between my seat and the side of the kayak where I stuff my trash, its pretty much muscle memory so it looks fast like I'm pitching it in the water. Pay attention in any of my videos and you'll see trash in that location
Everyone thinks I threw it in, I dropped it beside my seat into the bottom of the kayak. If you saw what my boat looks like at the end of the day you would know I don't litter!
Dude, that was a beautiful day of fishing from the North end of the bridge. You gave me lots of good ideas.

Not really a beginner kayak but I do agree on it being a good investment. Hands down the best fishing platform at the kayak level
Wow what a day for you. Great fishing
Very true we always keep new things no matter what it says and try and most of time it’s good 👍 nice video
Spadefish are among the tastiest fish in the sea IMHO.
Good luck with stringer bid sharks out there my friend
hey just wanted to say your a great fisherman and have some great gear keep up the good work 👍
Another great video! Good seeing Todd out there with you.
He whooped me on sheepshead #s that day!
Spadefish are an absolute blast and agree, hardest pulling fish out there pound for pound
so strong!
Where do you launch at?
I had no idea how many different spices are down that end I’m up by the the bay bridge awesome video
As a teenager we lived on the northern terminus of the bay Bridge. Was an old radar site and now is a bird refuge?
I think it’s so cool how curious those fish are
what bait were you guys using to catch the sheepshead and the spadefish???
Now THAT is some great fishing. I am in the mood for saltwater now for sure

And, with that current, fish on stringers is a pain

Would love to know the launch site? any idea?
@@JulioCesar-su3wvprobably wise point boat ramp is the closest place on the eastern shore to the side he fished on this video
that looks like an absolute blast!!
Good job Brother!
That's hard fishing, more than I want in my yak but hats of to you for trying.

Come to south fla and chase sailfish and giant tarpon.

what bait did you use for the spade ?

Is this late August? Think I saw you out there!
Your so lucky to live there! What a fishery.
I don't live "there", but certainly close enough!!
Enjoyed the video! You fish hard bro.
I'm guessing you never ate an oyster toad fish. Delicious fish.
Buena pesca es un sonar para pesca ño que tiene tu kayak ?
Please tell me where I can purchase that dark green and white bucktail jig. I live in VB and enjoyed your video.
It's just a 3oz spro jig, berkley makes a very similar bucktail too
(I got mine from Green Top, Ocean's East should definitely have some though)
@@nolanminor6761 Thank you!
@@brianwright874 Realizing now you meant the cobia jig. Not sure who makes them, but green top is the only place I've ever found them at
What kayak is that if you dont mind?
13:13 what fish is this?
Did you just threw the bottle in the water?
Nope!
Wild
Sure did look like it
Where exactly do u put your kayak at? I want to come there with mine, if you go again let me know I'd come along I live in Williamsburg

That wa sick
Do you know what a Sea Robin is..? I noticed that it depends on where a person is fishing, what the name of the fish is... lol
Sea robin is a different species than an oyster toad, we have really small ones down here, up in the northeast they get huge!
I wish you would've picked up the blue and showed it to me..😏

They do live in 40-50' and much deeper. I have caught them in 100' of water. Summer Flounder.
