Carlos Andrés Gómez (HBO's "Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry" & Spike Lee's #1 movie "Inside Man" with Denzel Washington) performs "Never Again" - inspired by his visit to Rwanda in 2008 - in front of a sold out crowd in NYC.
Carlos is touring colleges/universities this semester.

This man writes amazingly moving poetry and performs it so well! He is a poet for our time.
Had the opportunity to see Carlos perform his show and really lucky to chat and spend even a few minutes with him on Friday. Everyone, everyone should see this man, This is not a empty comment I am leaving to make myself feel good, this man is an inspiring and I will use him in my life going forward. Everyone should see this man. Listen to him and take what you need from him, that mind sound selfish. Amazing.

He was on the verge of tears the entire time.. when words feel like knives stabbing you in the heart but the pain is so sweet.. you know you have found a truly gifted poet

This is the second semester I have used this piece in a first year college Writing class- having the students reflect on the various "cultural artifacts" laden throughout (the book of signatures, the shirt, the doll etc).
