Most of those years he competed had even strong candidates, and the winners were even terrific. Blade Runner was amazing, and doing the same for 1917 was epic
@@270MOX agreed. Like when he was nominated for NCFOM, his work on that film was amazing but TWBB deserved the Oscar that it won for cinematography that year.
I fully agree. And I remember it was theorized to win in a few award circles at the time. But then, that cinematographer (Lubezki) went on to win three times in a row in a few years :P

So much great cinematography, although it think eternal sunshine of the spotless mind winning wouldn’t feel out of place Overall very well edited video! Great job man!
Nice editing 😍👍🏻it was a glance through the beauty of these gems. I am so sad that I've just seen only 60% of these beautiful and eye-catching movies, I should probably watch them ASAP.
American Beauty, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, Road to Perdition, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, The Aviator, Memoirs of a Geisha, Pan's Labyrinth, There Will Be Blood, Slumdog Millionaire, Avatar, Inception, Hugo, Life of Pi, Gravity, Birdman, The Revenant, La La Land, Blade Runner 2049, Roma and 1917 has great cinematography.
Emmanuel Lubezki, Andrew Lesnie, Robert Burks, Robert Richardson, Roger Deakins are the greatest ones. Emmanuel Lubezki is a genius, he won 3 Oscars in a row but also Children Of Men has that perfect Lubezki Cinematography.
Road to Perdition's cinematography is incredible! There's a rain sequence in that film with a shootout and that sequence alone is worth the Oscar that Conrad Hall won. I am obsessed with LOTR and love the cinematography for that too, but Conrad Hall totally deserved his Oscar.
@@leewhys78 Agreed. Two towers is a great movie, and the cinematography is stunning, especially in the final battle, but Road to Perdition is just something else. Some of the best lighting and framing I've ever had the pleasure to see.

Emmanuel Lubezki is the Meryl Streep of the cinematography.
Alternative title, the DDL's of the Oscar. 3 winnings in their respective categories. ^^
Deakins (before Blade Runner) was the Glenn Close
He was robbed for Tree of Life. Such a beautiful movie.
Rodger Deakins waited so long for an Oscar
But he didn’t need one to prove his work is masterful, because we already knew
Most of those years he competed had even strong candidates, and the winners were even terrific. Blade Runner was amazing, and doing the same for 1917 was epic

you are actually so underrated
Thanks ❤️
Blade Runner 2049 has a monumental cinematography, all thanks to Roger Deakins.
Pan's Labyrinth is such an underrated masterpiece
As a Mexican, I feel proud of Emmanuel “Chivo” Lubezki. HE WON THREE TIMES IN A ROW!🇲🇽🇲🇽🏆
It’s hard to believe that no Wes Anderson's films has won any awards on cinematography. Robert Yeoman is exceptional in my opinion.
I love how about 70% of these is just Leonardo DiCaprio. That man is just a cinematography in itself.
I can't believe Tree of Life didn't get it. Hugo was great, but TOL was... supernatural.
I fully agree. And I remember it was theorized to win in a few award circles at the time. But then, that cinematographer (Lubezki) went on to win three times in a row in a few years :P
Emmanuel lubezki is great...
So impressive that he won three years in a row
IMO he should have won in 2011 for Tree of Life. Hugo was still great though

its kind of ridiculous how good bladerunner 2049 looks, considering the stereotypes of modern blockbusters

The fact that Drive didn't win back in 2012 is a shame.
RIP Conrad Hall.
cant believe that "Road to Perdition" beat Lord of the Ring 'Return of the king' for best cinematography... that's crazy
