    That Brazilian mother is, quite frankly, vile. If she was telling her daughter to lose weight because of health issues, it would be understandable, but to constantly fat shame her daughter just to be "beautiful" is appalling. However, if what her daughter says is true, that the mother deliberately persuaded people to have procedures that they hadn't thought about, then it tells us a lot about her. Thank goodness that the daughter has a supportive wife.

      Not that it makes her behaviour okay but it's also due to a lot of societal pressure that she internalised

      Its understandable, i don’t think she is vile. She wants the best for her daughter and lets be honest society (in almost every country in the world) is kinder and more accepting of thin/medium sized young ladies.

    When I say I see narcissism everywhere I meant it. It's everywhere. A child's first bully is the parents. Me seeing that woman inject herself I threw up. That mother is the reason her daughter is insecure about her body. Sad sad sad. Am a mother and I always boost my daughters confidence and remind her how beautiful she is even with a messy hairday and ive done it since she was a newborn and now age 5 she tells herself how beautiful she is especially when I plait her natural hair. And for my son I do exactly same and when he is angry I encourage him to come to me and let's talk about it. Parents need to teach their children to love themselves and everyone is happy. This people using plastic surgery Do they know they'll grow old someday?? Love yourself people

    I'm from Europe and was basically married to a Brazilian for 7 years and went to visit the in-laws 5 times. Some of them didn't realise I could understand Portuguese. I heard their comments about my weight and I wasn't even fat! I made it very clear where to draw the line with people, which embarrassed my ex. I learnt that they weren't trying to be malicious, it's just cultural.

      As a Brazilian, I do consider it a bit malicious. Kind of passive agressive. People use euphemisms sometimes. They might call you strong with a smile in the face.
      It's not common to give it straight in Brazil. Quite the opposite, actually. Our culture is full of innuendos, context, malice. Direct talk is considered offensive.

    I have a Brazilian friend and once we almost had a fight when I suggested that people should reconsider before opting for invasive surgery and think whenther the issue that they have with their body really boils down to their body or something else. I have learned from him and other Brazilians that many there view plastic surgery much more casually and positively than Europeans.

    Very interesting! I am proud of the Brazilian girl who likes herself the way she is. I personally think she's gorgeous. I am disappointed the Iranian artist got a nose job but if this is what makes him happy, I fully support him. Beauty is so relative and the definition our current society gives of it is so wrong at so many levels! Life is short. Do whatever makes you happy as long as it's legal. Don't let people's negative opinions and comments reach you. Live!!!

    So glad the Brazilian girl found her way to love herself, express herself through fashion and also has a lovely, supportive wife. She's really pretty, too. Societal pressure is a cruel beast, and obviously her mother buys far too much into this distorted concept of "beauty". Being thin at all costs, mutilating your body through non medically necessary surgery to achieve it, fighting a constant battle with your body to look younger or barbie-like are all terrible lessons.

    It's concerning when people's priorities are out of order, conflicting beauty with health. To say everyone must look like a supermodel to be successful and accepted is as far from correct as saying one should be happy and feel beautiful even when clearly overweight... We're seeing 2 different extremes and both are removed from reason. That dude's uncle is the type of person everyone should have around for a reality check!

    as Brazilian i can confirm that most part of us CAN'T afford for cosmetic/plastic surgery, because every year the Brazil economy increase, that's why most part of us work hard going work out at gym, walk a lot or do some sport that's cultural too since a common brazilian family is out of money, so it means that those Brazilian people (at video) who are paying for surgeries are middle class or upper class of economically affordable.

    It's not so much how you look, it's about your health, as you get older your body can't carry the weight. We have them my family. My cousin had to have knee surgery because of her weight, but she worked on it, and now the weight is gone. I worked with a guy that was older than me. We worked for the DOD. They would not allow him to travel abroad with us because his weight caused lost of other issues. He started working out, stopped smoking, stop drinking beer. Pretty much changed his lifestyle. He has not taken a pill in over 15 years. He is in his 70's now and feels better than he did in his 50's.

    I started working out cause it makes me feel stronger and I like the result I see when I look at myself in the mirror. I would never consider plastic procedures but I respect and admire the ones who go through that. Nonetheless, we shouldn't judge at all, we never know what our relatives/friends are going through. I would never be able to cope with a mother like the girl from Brazil does. She is mentally strong and at the same time stands up for what she believes it's right for her. Love that! Ps amazing documentary.

    I've lived in Brazil for 25 years and have seen many beautiful women of all sizes. But being overweight is a health issue, not a beauty issue. Camila is still in her 20s but in 10 years time, if not before, she will be suffering from several ailments that are diet related such as metabolic syndrome and pre-type 2 diabetes. I know from experience that changes in diet, especially cutting out carbs and sugars dramatically improves this and you lose weight without resorting to invasive, non-reversible surgery. The average Brazilian meal will often comprise three or even four carbohydrates such as rice, french-fries, pasta, farofa (toasted cassava) and prepared using industrial seed oils instead of animal fat such as lard, butter or olive oil. This is all often accompanied by a 2 liter bottle of coca cola or Guarana. She, and her partner, will eventually have to change for health reasons, but could change now to avoid what is inevitably coming. Many of my friends and family have changed the way they prepare and eat their meals and have all benefited from losing weight, having more energy and being able to be more active.

    • @trentbateman
      @trentbateman Рік тому +3

    • @carolinafd
      @carolinafd Рік тому +3

      The average meal comprises rice and beans, salad and a piece of meat/veggie protein with farofa. Which is pretty healthy!
      So I think this girl is having a very bad diet by Brazilian standards! A very unusual and unhealthy one. No one should suffer prejudice for one's body type, and fat shaming is a no-go, poor girl! but indeed, she should seek some guidance to lose weight in a healthy manner.

    The singer’s nose looks perfect to me. He might have body dysmorphia about his nose kind of like someone with anorexia who looks in the mirror and sees an obese person when they’re actually severely underweight.
    It’s amazing to me that Camilla is so self confident despite the fact that her mom and other family members are constantly criticizing her weight. Her mom means well, but she shouldn’t encourage her daughter to have elective cosmetic procedures that she doesn’t want to have. Camilla is beautiful and she’s helping other women.

    From reading the comment section, it is evident that there is a level of cultural misunderstanding over the brazilian woman’s mother preoccupation with her daughter’s weight.
    Yes, being beautiful is perhaps overestimated in the country as a whole, but her mother made it very clear that she prioritizes her daughter’s happiness. The thing is obesity is undeniably a major health issue - a disease. It even has a ICD of its own.

    So much energy put on things that doesn’t last.
    As a doctor, I think plastic surgery is just it, its plastic, its superficial. If it’s for cosmetic thats what it is for. Let’s not put more to it than what it is. If cosmetic was the reason one went for a procedure thats not necessarily wrong but that doesn’t make it good as well.
    There are medical reasons and there are cosmetic goals. Health should be the ideal outcome and so when you have weight thats not considered healthy, that does some health risks too.
    There’s like a spectrum between disease, cosmetic, health and the ideal. Truth is we chose where we are on this spectrum and stand by our choice and consequence.

    Another wonderful documentary was shared by an excellent ( DW) documentary channel. Thanks for sharing. Are these surgeries having bad side effects on their health? Are theirs natural tissues embracing these foreigners normally without ejection? The beauty medical world is not telling the truth behind these surgeries to the customers . Fixing between youths desirable and older generations notable must be for embodying better options for youths and avoiding healthy losses. Not running behind mode standards of famous artists

    Undergoing cosmetic surgery is always risky. Including Botox treatments. Natural is beautiful. Why would anyone want to undergo cosmetic surgery and/or want their daughters to under go cosmetic surgery which does not add to persons physical health at all?

    Even if appearance were a marker for success, what makes you stand out and attractive, are your unique features- a slightly larger nose, crooked teeth, or a dimple that makes you, you. Trying to have a “perfect” nose/look like everyone else won’t make you more or less talented. It’s sad that medias portrayal of beauty has made so many of us feel unattractive and less than. I really hope we can all acknowledge this money making machine for what it is and I hope this kid doesn’t get a nose job because not only is he attractive, his nose is perfect!!

    Resa, I was hoping that you read this before your operation. Because, truly there is absolutely you had no issue with your nose. Sadly saw that you are already did it at the end of your program. What you need to work on is your voice and technical aspect of your singing and playing guitar. Happiness comes from inside and glow out. Okay, now that you did your nose what is next? My friend get yourself to some level and be financially stable before start doing things that put you to more death. My advice is live a day by day and be happy of what you are and who you are. Live a chapter for that chapter in your life. Don’t try to be something you are not. What worries me if this, you start with a nose job and now gate has open and start see more things in your face and other part of your body that getting a bug and go and replace it! Hope that is not the case. I truly like you to work on your voice and your music and become more professional and prove to your uncle that “you will be anything,….” What. He said was a discouraging and not supportive, simply because he is old school. So, please don’t live your life for what people say or see. Look on the mirror and make sure that guy that you see has a happiness within.

    It's really sad. My Iranian boyfriend was being convinced by family to get a nose job. Apparently a lot of people have nose jobs there even men. I'm glad he didn't let up. I actually love his nose 🥰😍

    Okay first of all.. there's nothing wrong with the Iranian singer's nose .. I think it looks fine.. now the Brazilian mother Claudia that thinks she's attractive and thin but neither and it's kind of a bully to the Rather large daughter.. if the daughter is happy the way she is leave her alone if she's healthy great.. not everybody's going to be attractive in life.. including that mother I thought it was a man at first with a wig .....seriously.... My advice to the mother get some professional help instead of self-promotion and plastic surgery..
