  • A few years ago, Broadly’s Milène Larsson met the supposedly most powerful witch in Europe, Mihaela Minca. This year Milène is invited to Mihaela’s son Antonio’s lavish wedding. He is 17 and is arranged to be married with a young virgin witch named Beatrice, who is also his cousin. But can the witch tradition of arranged marriage to a relative work in today’s world?

Usually witches represent independence, especially from men and the patriarchy, yet here they were at the wedding conforming to such patriarchal standards and traditions. Also the reporter brought up a good point on how the mother in law didn’t like Beatriz and that’s why she’s going to find another girl for her son. It was for the best since it didn’t seem like her son Antonio and the witch Beatriz had a strong connection. Antonio seemed more at ease with the reporter and showed more enthusiasm/interest in her.

Dont that’s obvious. But hear me out. You are not in their position. Sometimes we sacrifice A LOT for our families and religion. You could tell both of em didn’t want to get married to one another. But they did it anyways. You can look further in to European Gypsies and their beliefs. And try to understand where there coming from. You can tell in this video that women are literal objects! They sold their daughter.
The Mothers choose the bride who must be a pure virgin, to marry her son. It’s very harsh but that’s their religion/belief. The Mother just wants her “Witch” bloodline to be pure. Even if that means HER SON MARRY HIS COUSIN.
But the main point that I’m staining is
      MOTHER has the LAST WORD.
