This movie looks terrible even for a low budget horror movie from the 1980s. One of the rare moments where I think that a big, high budget remake would actually be better. A reboot of the same story but re-imagined and retold in a much more contemporary, modernized and updated way for the present. I can see why this late '80s slasher was memory holed. It fuckin' sucks. Shit, even a stinker like Prom Night (1980) was better than this and that movie was also terrible, too.
This was shot in my hometown of Wichita, Kansas, and I was a thespian at West High School and was asked to be an extra but when my buddy and I showed up at Pogo's for the club scene, we opted to sit it out. I can't say I love the movie, but I can't say that I hate it either. I'm just happy that as an actor, I didn't pop my cinematic cherry with this flick. Best to you, Mike! Great show! 😊

Swerve would have been better had she been saved by one of the minor characters, in an earlier scene. Causing her to *NOT* lash out at him near the end. But finding an excuse for him to leave early. He does so. Next day in the hospital, he visits her. She tells him she's grateful that he's alive. Que credits.
That Moody Blues joke made me remember their appearance on The Simpsons, where they almost beat up Homer and Ned. Which of course has me now convinced the Moody Blues could survive a horror film.
They survived Rob Zombie's Halloween II. And only just Tim Burton's crappy Dark Shadows. The Moody Blues really need to be more picky about who they license their music to.
I remember looking for "Mutant" (1984) with Wings Hauser and learned that its alternate title was "Night Shadows" Upon finding it, I found a similar horror film called Night Shadows from 1989 and honestly, from the clearly low budget clip that I watched, I expected the camera to pan around to reveal Spinal Tap!!😂😂 Awesome video, Mike!! The poster of the BBQ reminded me of my favorite part in Pain and Gain when The Rock body cooking body parts in public and the movie pauses to remind us, no really this is still a true story. Cracked me up.
Thank you for this review. First off: I remember "Quincy"! My favourite episode is "The thigh bone's connected to the knee bone", in which Quincy and some students reconstruct a murder victim from a thigh bone. But enough about that! One recognises the 1980s at the latest when that awful keyboard music starts that has anything but a horror film vibe. The film seems alright, and I think it helps that it originally runs only 73 minutes. One probably easily recognises the scenes that were added from other films when watching the extended version. I think I'll check PrudeTube for it. Thank you again for your review and for bringing in Linda Day George and "Hell Yeah" again. They are really part of the family.
I loved how the eighties churned out movies like this every other week or so. These days we get A Quiet Place Part VGHRHEII every six months, instead, and it's just not the same as a bunch of teens getting killed by a highly-unlikely slasher. Also, these things always ran about 90 minutes or less, while newer stuff often seems to think that a two hour runtime is important to... uhh... I have no idea. Be considered artistic?

I just saw this for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Not the best but idk regional slashers like this, Offerings, and The Mutilator have a nice charm to them that helps you overlook their shortcomings.
I spent many an evening with Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill, and had awful heartburn because of it. Those were the days. Great review, your puns bring back all the memories. See you next week, take care.

I love how that fire poker went through someone, but there's no blood on the end of it. That one armed woman in a nail salon "deep thought" is actually a good ass question. Where in that house were all the bodies being hidden?
