  • Enjoy these views and sounds from an open-window coach on a 160-mile roundtrip. This Ramble was the first trip from the Reading & Northern’s new station in Nesquehoning, PA, and ran to the town of Tunkhannock and back. Highlights of this video include a “clear” signal in the Lehigh Gorge dropping to red as we pass, a nice mechanical grade-crossing bell near Pittston, the fan following the train in a paraglider along the Susquehanna, meeting the returning Pittston-Jim Thorpe train at Solomon’s Gap/Mountain Top, and crossing under I-80 and over the old CNJ and the Lehigh River at White Haven. Besides enjoying the trip with four friends, the ride also had significance for me since our coach was an ex-Reading MU car that my dad likely rode in many times on his daily commute. Add to that the fun of spotting several other friends and acquaintances recording our passage, and some terrific brisket and coleslaw from The Meat Hook truck in Tunkhannock, and this hot day was one to remember!
