I'd love to see Bob Dylan get interviewed by Stern. If Stern didn't learn how to do it right from 60 minutes, I think Bob Dylan would absolutely confuse/stump Stern right in his tracks

Dylan had a good relationship with his family and was close to his mother. She accompanied him on his Rolling Thunder tour in 1975, even appearing on stage with him at times.
    From Sloman's book:
"After a few numbers, Baez took center stage for a dynamic six-song set, followed by a solo set from Bob. Then he was joined by the band for a few numbers, and the finale, Woody Guthrie's 'This Land Is Your Land,' featuring everyone on stage from Allen Ginsberg to Bob's mother Beattie one night."

Thank you for enlightening Mr. Stern.
There are also accounts of his return trips to Hibbing.

When he was presented with his Kennedy Award in 1997, she was sitting right next to him during the awards broadcast.

Bob's father died when Bob was in his 20s, and Bob was quite sad, saying he was just growing close to him again, as is common at that age.

No, Bob Dylan had a pleasant, middle class upbringing. It may have been stuffy but reportedly his home life was fine. The time he grew up in was probably what was so maddening.

They are right that Dylan's program was weird and wonderful. But the wild speculation about his family life is false. Dylan had a happy childhood.

Bob Dylan has the best DJ radio voice ever. Howard Stern is a whiner.

Do a Google image search for:
"Bob Dylan's mother, Beatty Zimmerman, joining Bob Dylan"
and you'll see her there on stage, clapping along.

Stern is a notorious Dylan basher. He's also quite ignorant about music, despite being a DJ, at least before he was allowed to run his famous mouth. He loves the Beatles but always gets it wrong when he tries to state what song is on what album, things like that. Great as he has been on the radio, Stern is basically a short-attention span guy who would not have the patience to listen to a lot of Dylan's lengthy and lyrically complex songs. He also seems to be jealous of him for some reason or maybe should peeved that Dylan has never done his show and has probably never even acknowledged Stern's existence. Howard's gargantuan ego is easily bruised, leading him to lash out. I say these things as a Stern listener for 30 years.

KC Cramsey Yep... he has a lil hostility for Larry David too..

I know exactly what you mean. He also seems to like everybody in the whole singer-songwriter 60s / 70s genre EXCEPT Dylan. Love's Neil Young, James Taylor Etc. Damn, he even raves about Donovan! Yet he said many times I just don't get Dylan. I think Stern's a schmuck.

Dylan- pops a squat an drops a turd
Stern- the fly that buzzes around it for days!!!!
Trust me in no way shape or form could Stern's mind wrap around the man or his music. And that does not surprise me at all. Dylan's just Dylan and Stern's.....Well Stern's an asshole. Hell he's probably jealous that Dylan would do for example a short apperance on pawn stars with Chum Lee but won't entertain the idea of making an appearance on the Howard Stern Show

totally on the short attention span. I dig Howard, but he has no real depth to him. He's bright and can be funny, but its all for flash. No real legacy in his act

They are right that Dylan's program was weird and wonderful. But the wild speculation about his family life is false. Dylan had a happy childhood.
"Bob's father Abe suffers a fatal heart attack June 5, 1968. Bob returns to Hibbing for the first time in over 4 years. When his mother tells him all the money is frozen until the estate was settled, Bob took out his checkbook and wrote her a five figure check."

take your own advice, Stern. If you don't like it, turn the channel. you became unfunny years ago. BTW, Dylan wouldn't waste his time with you. He doesn't suffer fools.

He reminds me of when I was trying to explain Dylan to an older brother who had no musical taste what Dylan was. Stern is just an insect compared to Dylan but he will never know that

why does Howard put on that weird voice, bob dylan sounds nothing like that. He sounds like an 80 year old bluesy guy from the south that smoked way too many cigarettes. Gary's impression was actually the way it should go.

I never understood why people liked Dylan. He cannot sing, his music is mediocre and his lyrics are either primitive or crazy. But he is not the only person that is successful and nobody understands why.
