60+ year old guitar player here, who bought this unit yesterday, fed up with stompbox issues playing live, and considering ditching my old 81 MM amp, and using a headrush FRFR speaker. Anyway, I found the Line 6 videos a bit confusing, other videos posted by users weren't to my liking for a number of reasons. Your video was great, and it was this one that got me up n running. THANK YOU! Heres some feedback for you. 1.Straight to the point, and using the unit itself to build and edit, rather than the edit computer software. Something essential to me as I'll be using it live. 2. It didn't skip about, in other words, you told "a story", saying what you were going to do, in most cases, explaining how to do it, then recaping at the end. 3. The lighting in your production, wasnt fully lighting up the face of the unit, so for me it was difficult to see HOW to do somethings. 4. You did say how to do it, but not all the time. I would expext experienced users to know how to do these things. As I see it, this video is suited to the beginner, and a few words of explanation at times would be great, instead of saying "Just do that" , when because of the lighting its difficult to see. Ive subscribed and look forward to looking at your other videos. I need to learn about snapshots, and one day how to nail the sound using an frfr speaker live.
Thank you. Yours is hands-down the best video I have seen demonstrating the basic function. Sure others go into a lot more depth, but yours was perfect for what I needed to know. Plus you were the only one that progressively played your guitar as you added or tweaked tones. Others go through all 5000 settings but you never hear it with the guitar maybe at the very end so that was cool and very helpful
Great demo! And nice playing. I ordered an XL today. Just got home from a tour and I’m tired of hauling around my pedalboard and backlining an amp. Thanks for keeping things clear and simple.
@@KrenarCilkuGuitar will do! My small travel pedalboard weighs 25 lbs and takes up half my suitcase. I’m hoping this pedal will replace it and maybe I’ll try going direct and skip hauling around an amp. 🤞🏼
Krenar, my friend, you have hit the big time. Never mind the gorgeous playing. The ad before your video assured me I can finally learn to play guitar, if only I’ll give up on UA-cam videos 😂🤦🏼♂️ Love the Tele btw!
great video. I like your taste, as I would tweak the effects similarly. great playing as well - interesting melodic style, rather than another pentatonic warrior.
Great vid. I can't decide. This or pod go. I have probably £500 worth of decent pedals, but im not enjoying the audio clicking i sometimes get when adding effects.
Thanks Charles! Hahaha, you're definitely gonna enjoy the builds end result from all the motivation buildup! Cheers buddy, can't wait to see that vibey guitar in its full glory btw!
A little late on this video but great job. I'm thinking about grabbing an HX stop XL and a line 6 power cab 112+. I have the money I'm just stagnant on purchasing it. I play at home mostly and want the best sound out of an HX stop and I hear the power cap is pretty good. What are your thoughts?
Great review! I was debating between this and add a drive (tumnus) and a compressor (cali 76) for playing live at church. Seems way easier than having all the pedals I have. But do you ever feel this limits you live? If I sell my pedals this is basically the same price as getting a Helix floor, the only thing is the size! I dont want to lug my guitar and floor to church every week. If you have any thoughts on this I'd appreciate it. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the kind words! The POD Go is a great all in one solution, especially if you like having an expression pedal but I would always go with the HX Stomp because it is much more versatile in terms of routing and setting it up. Hope this helps, cheers!
Great work Krenar, that's awesome, all the digital pedalboards are great these days. I love the Headrush Pedalboard for my tone, but they are all great 😃🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥
The up and down switches can also act as stomp box switches so we have 6 switches for effects in stomp mode? I saw you assign the tremolo to the bank down switch but just double checking to make sure whether I should sell my LT and pull the triger on the stomp xl or not. And what expression pedal would you recommend for the XL? I would prefer an expression pedal with 2 modes so I can control both the volume pedal and the wah in another mode with one expression pedal. Thank you for your answers in advance. Nice tone and playing.
Hey there, thanks for the kind words! Yes, while on "pedalboard mode", you can assign effects to all 6 footswitches. To change the preset, you simply press the "mode" footswitch and it will send you to the preset page. I don't have an expression pedal for my Stomp XL but after a quick google search, the dunlop dvp5 looks like a good shout for the things you're looking for. My question to you is, why are you exactly looking to switch from the LT to the Stomp XL? Cheers!
Few more questions. So I use both the volume and wah, 2 delays, 2 drives, one amp, and IR, one reverb, a Chorus, a looper, and a compressor in pretty much all my LT presets, but the Stomp XL can't handle all that right? Cuz of the limited DSP? And just one comment for Line 6: Please make another unit with the same form factor but with Helix computing power and call it a Helix mini. I'd buy that in a heart beat.
It depends on what the exact models are. If you use delays and reverbs that are DSP hungry, that might be a limitation. There are too many variables for you to know if the HX Stomp can handle exactly what you want. In my case, the HX Stomp XL does more than I would ever need. Hope this helps! Cheers!
Great video bro. I was wondering if you are familiar with Boss modellers (GT-1000Core, GX-100)?? I have the GT-1000 Core but it’s kinda leaving me wanting me for more and I was looking at the Line 6 (Hx Stomp/Xl) is it really worth the money and better than the Boss GX-100?? The budget I in as of now. Thanks in advance
hey there, sorry for the late response. Unfortunately, I've never played any of the Boss modelers but I have spent a lot of time with their Katana and Nextone amps and I really enjoy them so I'd guess that you are not missing out on a lot. Boss makes some really nice products but I would suggest you check out some Helix gear at your local shop just to make sure you find something for you. cheers!
Hey man, Loved your content!Rn I have a pod hd500x I'm trying to upgrade to a helix product. I'm kinda confused which one to buy tho, shall i go for the LT or stomp xl. Is the LT too big to carry in your suitcase if you're flying? Or shall i just take the xl like is the LT necessary?
Is the sound/amp quality comparable with the nux mg30? Or is line 6 way ahead. I own the mg30 and was wondering if getting a hx stomp xl is an upgrade worth paying for.
Hey there! The MG30 is a great unit, I also had one and it sounds very nice. The sounds are comparable to the hx stomp but with the stomp, you get a ton more versatility when it comes to finding tones, the way you use the signal chain, effects and footswitches. It's a worthy upgrade but if you have already found tones you like on the MG30 and can work with the footswitches provided, I'd save some money and headache and stay with the mg30. Hope this helps, cheers!
Hey there! The thing is, most products nowadays sound awesome and we're definitely spoilt. For example, I also have a Two Notes Captor X and I pair it with an AMP1 by BluGuitars which has definitely gotten the best tones for me so far. It's certainly a bit more effort to put it together and it's more expensive but at end of the day, all of this is 100% subjective. I'm just glad we have so many cool choices and that we live in a golden era for gear, cheers!
All subjective, for sure! I'd love to have a rack filled with Toneking and Two Rock amps but that's not a reality for me and a ton of other people. Although I get where your coming from. I have a Captor X and a BluGuitar AMP1 which gives me some of the best tones I've ever gotten but I love to plug the HX Stomp in front of it and have a super versatile rig. It also puts a smile in my face when I plug direct, hassle free into the hx stomp and realize how usable all the tones that I get from it are... One things for sure, most products out there sound awesome and there is something for everyone which is just amazing! Cheers!

Totally agree, that’s a great unit. Love the tones and between the t484 and the tele man you got covered

I’m downscaling to HX XL from Helix LT for more portability. Find no need for vol/exp pedal in my electric and bass playing.
The smaller footprint of the Stomp XL is very valuable, indeed! Cheers

Hey, can I set two outputs in the stomp ? one for DI and other to go through an amp?
