They’re injecting flux with a sparge tube. About the consistency of sand. You’re right. It pulls impurity’s out. Usually pressurized with argon gas. Then they pull the slag off like it showed. With any molten metal you cannot introduce any amount of moisture to it will cause an explosion. Any additives or ladles introduced need to be dry and cured before they are placed in the pot or furnace. The molds should be at least 600 to 800° at a minimum before aluminum is poured into them.

Right from the start of this video, how can you say this is automatic melting, when the first minut, there is human intervention in almost every shot of the video
So that's why the aluminum (1:05) was bubbling violently, I still don't understand why the slag produced sparks while it was being removed from the aluminum
@@samsimington5563 or alloying? When we add magnesium it is usually quite late. The trick is to get it "coated" in the aluminium so it gets into solution instead of swimming on top.
not smart adding metal with the furnace open @ 6:58. I was in an explosion because a coworker decided to do that while my back was turned, grabbing the tongs. i would've stopped him if i had known what he was doing. he got lazy and as a result he caught 200lbs. of liquid bronze (1900 degrees) in the chest and face. i caught a .50 cal sized piece in the temple. my hard hat saved my life.
I agree with you, replacing the sound with music almost ruined a video I would normally have loved. Sound starts half way through and the second half was so much better.

What factory is this from? Any way I can get into contact with them? I'm looking for specific information about the temperature the aluminum reaches during the sand casting process.
Look online for melting point of aluminium... If you are casting and melting the aluminium the temperature needs to be a bit higher so molten aluminium spreads evenly inside your mold before it starts cooling down. If the tempetature is just around melting point you run the risk of having it becoming solid inside mold while you are still pouring it.
I only saw ONE "Robot" in the entire video.. So calling this amazing automatic Melting Aluminium Factory is a little bit far fetched.. At no time was there a melting robot. There was a casting robot but no melting ones AND pretty much every included video showed various workers melting and pouring the aluminium.. Try to get your descriptions right ! Otherwise, it was interesting to see mass produced items being cast.. The only casting I have done was for a fire ant nest in my rear garden.. Awesome cast but not so healthy for the fire ants..
Love the QA. That's what makes great products.

what material do you guys use for a foundry that would work a metal of very high melting point like tungsten?
Ceramics.maybe Graphite.
You don't melt tungsten, it's made via powder methods

Its borax, so the impurities and slag go to the top, then they can skim it off.
