"Not what I thought he was going to shoot... but great sound fx!"
Eddie shooting his drum set is still one of his funniest moments ever. It's such a well timed gag.

I know this is a re-upload or whatever, but I'm genuinely happy this is back on here, as it's pretty much my favourite video of yours, keep it up!
Related: "Dolemite is my name" would be a great addition to the "movies about making movies starring Eddie Murphy" section of this channel, it's pretty much his best work since possibly this movie.

Now I really want you guys to react to "Dolemite Is My Name" It's almost a real life Bowfinger. Just a great story about a indie crew having to pull together to complete a film. Great fun starring Eddie Murphy.

Also, “Dolomite” is based on the real story of Rudy Ray Moore.

This is my favorite Frank Oz movie closely followed by Little Shop of Horrors and Death at a Funeral. I loved reliving my first time viewing this through both your eyes.

Eddie Murphy's "Jif" (sp) is both hilarious, relatable and vulnerable. Contrasted against his Ramsey character, this is Murphy's most enjoyable movies. The adjective "Awesome" has never been as awesome as it is here. That ending, especially the slow descent from the ledge, is worth the price of admission alone. This is a satirical masterpiece.

@@videovillagereactions The Score Oz had to work with both Brando and Norton - how the Hell did he handle both those prima donnas?🥶

    • @videovillagereactions
      @videovillagereactions  18 днів тому +2

I heard Brando wouldn’t let Oz direct his scenes. He famously said “I’m not Miss Piggy, you can’t shove your hand up my a** and make me act”.
De Niro had to direct the scenes Brando was in.
(At least that’s the legend I’ve heard from people on that crew)

Have you guys done Chef? It’s got a gem of a RDJ cameo. Johnny Leguizamo has a big supporting role. His performance really makes the movie.
I spent 20 years working on the cheesiest and crappiest low budget movies in the 80s and 90s. Steve Martin’s script has a lot of over the top exaggeration, but it really captures a profound grain of truth: the desperation of the fly-by-night production. Although Bobby Bowfinger is portrayed in a sympathetic light, I’ve worked for my share of conniving producers and producer/directors. Most of the, were really terrible people, but there was one that I remember fondly, a Russian fellow that (it was whispered) was bankrolled by the Russian mob.
We made three flicks for foreign distribution (Eastern European, Russian Federation and probably the ‘stans), and we shot it in 22 days. We did unsafe car crash stunts (I assume they were unsafe because the first “stunt coordinator” quit, and a kid that started as a PA on day one drove the car). The giant mutant rat (the monster of the sci-fi horror flick) was a guy in a rat suit. No generator. I had to tie-in illegally at every location. At one location I made the mistake of tying into an elevator’s power supply, meaning the lights would dim every time someone used the elevator (easily solved with “out of order” signs).
But I know what your question is going to be. How was craft service? It was surprisingly decent. The producer/director’s wife was crafty, and she made an admirable effort. The bagels and muffins might have been stale, but at least they were there.
We went through a lot of PAs, most of whom were too smart to stick around. But I think the core crew stayed because it was so much fun to shoot at such a pace, with very few second takes and no fussing over lighting or sound (it was all going to be dubbed into Russian anyway). The priority was getting film in the can, not creating art. If you’ve had to suffer through low budget directors with “artistic vision”, you’ll understand how liberating it felt to shoot this way.
I never saw the finished products of those 22 days, but I’m sure each flick was completed. We got all our pages every day. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed work so much.

ok wai-wai-wait- favorite Steve Martin movie, not Dirty Rotten Scoundrels? Well, I guess it is like a 'Field of Dreams' for screenwriters. Also, Des' incredulous reaction to the erstwhile scriptwriter in the opening scene; "He's an accountant??" Sometimes, Des, you don't realize the hurt you put out into the world. While it's true accountants have fewer feelings than regular people, those few precious feelings can be bruised.

@@MarcosElMalo2 I can appreciate that. I was never a professional, but my friends and I did do a six-month 'Batman' parody film project just for fun. It was all running around NYC, filming bits and taking turns wearing the Batman costume when our regular Batman wasn't available to shoot scenes. Can you imagine making a career out of it? Sounds stressful.
