Get in the fighting spirit... er, I mean Holiday spirit... and watch the cult-Holiday classic: THE REF! The most surprising part of this movie for me (Greg) was the appearance of not one, but two Sopranos stars near the end. Who knew? Thanks for clicking by, and don't forget to hit the like and subscribe buttons! 🎄🎄🎅🎅🍻🍻
I took a break from annual viewings due to issues with a certain actor and an obvious distaste, but have been able to get past that and enjoy the acting separating out the person, so it's back in my annual lineup. What I love about the movie was the flood of one liners. "Married people WITHOUT guns do NOT get to yell", "you saw the stop sign, didn't you Lloyd?" you already got the "she said you never did it 3 times". "is there a f***ing waste of life named Murray". Anyone else who has seen the movie, when you say some of the lines will always get a good laugh because an entire scene can be summarized in just a few words.oh yes and "sex, and drugs, and and and and women set on fire!" Thanks for spreading the word on what I consider a Christmas classic!
@ my favorite line is at the beginning during therapy when Judy Davis talks about her dream and the Dr asks Spacey what he wants from the marriage and he says he wants her to stop telling that story at parties 🤣
@@revcliff I hear you on all counts, the one liners and the other issue - it's taken me a minute to separate as well. Thanks for watching! Appreciate this - Greg
You managed to get it through YT 👏👏👏... Im sooooooooo here for it 😊... This is a mandatory holiday movie as far as im concerned , i watch it every year ( my 1st time this year is with you guys 😊 ).
Thanks so much for reacting to this! It's my favorite Christmas movie and I watch it every year. So many quotable lines and I still laugh hysterically every time!!
One of my family’s go-to Christmas movies. Bonus points for the fact that the opening credits scene was filmed just a couple hours away from where I live in a town called Niagara-On-The-Lake. You can see the clock tower cenotaph and the “police station” where Phil and Steve emerge is the old Courthouse. Queen Street still keeps its colonial flavour into the 21st century, but the Shaw Festival means it gets mighty busy during the summer. It’s worth checking out if you’re across the river to see the Falls.
Fun movie fact: If Willard’s mansion looks familiar to people, it’s because it’s a star of many movies and TV shows, especially in the 90s. It’s the Parkwood Estate in Oshawa Ontario, formerly the home of Samuel McLaughlin, head of General Motors of Canada. It has served as Billy Madison’s home, and as the X-Mansion. More recently, it appeared in Season 1 of The Boys.
Right?! It was SO fun going back and revisiting this one. I won't let it go another 5 years without revisiting it again, that's for sure. Thanks, Pete! - Greg
You guys beat my Lions but this is my favorite Christmas movie and nobody ever reacts to it, so it was a pleasant surprise to see this and I’ll forgive you for giving us the loss lol. Thanks for the laughs and Merry Christmas.
At least it was an exciting game - and I hope (and have been rooting for) a rematch in February. It would be so fun to see one of the two cities finally get a Lombardi. 🍻 Thanks for the kind words, and I agree, this movie is an underrated holiday gem. - Greg
I missed the premiere... darn! I didn't get a notification! "Stuffshirt Bob" - is Robert Ridgely who played Boris the Hunchback Hangman in Blazing Saddles. He played the same role in Men in Tights.
You were missed, Chris! Sorry about the alert, not sure why that’s happening. FORGOT he was in those when I did the Credit Check! ARGH! Great call. - Greg
The banter from all the cast in this is classic and just rolls so well. Although I heard that Judy Davis who played Kevin Spacey's wife is a difficult actress to work with, I wouldn't know it from watching the movie.
Agreed! I could have SWORN I saw some other bigger channels react to this last year, but when I went looking before I started editing this one, I couldn't find any. Which... makes me nervous they'll pull this one sooner or later. Fingers crossed they won't! Thanks, Matt! - Greg
Raymond J. Berry was also in another of my favorite films, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. If you watch it you'll have fun with the edit. Ray plays Dewey's father, who constantly says "The wrong kid died!"
Walk Hard is a movie I’ve never seen, not sure if Des has, but it’s been one I’ve wanted to see for years. I love John C Reilly, but know it’s… uhhh… pretty raunchy? So yeah, the UA-cam edit will be challenging if and when we get to it. Appreciate the recommend, Thomas! - Greg
One of my favourite Christmas movies & seeing the Mothee from the original Mary Poppins play the mother-in-law from hell is the cherry on top. Also, Richard Bright (Murray) played Al Neri in Godfather 1 & 2. Caroline is played by Judy Davis, check out "Absolute Power" with her, Gene Hackman & Clint Eastwood. Another underrated movies.
