It's almost 2am. I've been thinking nonstop for the past week about what kind of dress I want to make and wear for my friend's wedding, when all of a sudden I thought "tiered circle skirt dress" and typed that in youtube while still half asleep and your video popped up! This is exactly what I am looking for, thank you so much for providing all of this information and making it accessible! I'm going to rewatch this again later so I can take notes. I'm a total beginner at sewing, and the way you have explained all of this sounds doable even to me. Thank you thank you thank you! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
HONEYBEE THIS VID IS THE BOMB!!!! I’m impressed with your attention to detail. How thoughtful of you to make a calculator for us ❤️ The only other people I know who get excited by excel spreadsheets are myself + other math majors. Props to you for being so thorough!!! Thank you!!! And that dress looks incredible on you ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, this is incredibly helpful! Thank you so much for posting this and doing the super confusing math for us!! I've been searching everywhere for a tutorial like this!! 😍😍💕💕 Just a quick question so I get this right (I'm a beginner): The first tier is a circle skirt and the other tiers are "straight" pieces of fabric that I then gather up to the circle skirt- right?
@@RhiannonChann I did sew it like I mentioned, yes! Create a circle skirt and cut out straight pieces of fabric and gather them up along the bottom edge of the circle skirt 😊 it was a bit tricky since mine was long but it’s absolutely possible even for a beginner!
@@AppleSeenchen thanks! I'm not a beginner but for some reason I just couldn't quite figure out if she meant for all the other tiers to be rectangles lol
I think it’s so awesome you created the excel sheet! I’ve tried to purchase it through your website however it asks for access to my calendar, and asks to subscribe it?
This is exactly the type of skirt I want to try and make! :D Do you have a pattern just for the skirt part, or can the pattern be easily adjusted to make it just as a skirt? It's so difficult to find a tiered full circle maxi skirt pattern anywhere, most of them don't look like they'd flare wide enough at the top.
Hello! Instead of a pattern I've made a calculator for this skirt. It helps you draft a pattern to whatever measurements you want. You can download it on my website here - stylesinseams.com/product/tiered-circle-skirt-calculator/
This is amazing! I’m very new to sewing, and this is a great explanation. Do you have a patreon to donate? As an engineer, excel calculators that are so versatile are not easy!
Thanks so much! I don't have a Patreon, but I just added a feature to the calculator product page that allows supporters to name their price for the resource. The Excel calculator definitely took some time to produce and I really hope people see the value of it! stylesinseams.com/product/tiered-circle-skirt-calculator/
There's an error in Line #9 of the calc (Tier 1 calculations). After I have changed it to my measurements, it turns red and goes to negative one (-1) for the number of nieces to cut with no length size. ???? Help!
Yes, the first tier is a circle skirt and the lower tiers are cut as rectangles which are then gathered. It produces the circle effect with added volume.
omg as a 6'0" girlie, I'm so happy I found your channel

I have the same question! Did you end up figuring it out?

U are very very “right” I also don’t care for gathered waistline.
Thank you for the tutorial. So are the tiers just rectangles? Or is each tier a “new” circle skirt?
Both! The first tier is a circle skirt because I don't like gathers at the waist. The rest of the tiers are rectangles. So much easier to cut and sew!

Hi there! Do you have only the first tier at the waist cut round? The rest are all straight pieces?
Yes, the first tier is a circle skirt and the lower tiers are cut as rectangles which are then gathered. It produces the circle effect with added volume.
Hey! I only want three tiers in my skirt, how would I adjust the calculator to account for that?
Why do you keep picking up and touching the dress?
