I’ve watched at least half a dozen videos on making tiered skirts (I’m a beginner) and this is the clearest one-honestly the only one I can follow all the way through. Andrea was a very good teacher. I hope her family visit these videos from time to time and remember how Andrea’s public appreciated her. 😔🙏🏼

This came up in my search for a basic how to of this type of skirt.
So sad to read in the comments that she has passed. But how amazing that she is still helping and teaching people with the videos she left behind.

    Hare Krishna.
Thank you for the beautiful demonstration.
The tip on sewing the hem BEFORE adding it as a tier is so practical.
Thank you for showing the way to make the measurements.
Increasing by a half of the previous tier is logical and easy to remember.
I am a plus size woman so I will be adding some narrow tiers at the top.
    The fabric is gorgeous.
I am sure the little button was delighted with her skirt.

Lovely. My Nan used to make me skirts like this...we called them gypsy skirts and the top and bottom tier were the same material with a different colour or pattern for the middle tier. Nan used to also sew lace round the bottom of mine....watching this brought back lovely memories of my dear Nan.

Andrea, do you have an A. C. Moore store (formerly Ben Franklin store) near you. They sell T shirts in all nice bright colors (can't remember the price but they usually have coupons) They might would give a discount considering the number you purchase. Perhaps they have an on line shopping also, I never looked into that. Have a Blessed day.

I have a tip that might make your gathering go a little faster. I actually have a hard time doing gathering using the method that you use. So somewhere along the way I discovered that if you use a large zig-zag stitch over dental floss. You can pull the gathers with the dental floss. Once the skit is all sewn you can slide the dental floss out. be sure to wrap the end that you are not pulling around a pin and pin it down so you don't just end up pulling it out without making the gathers.

when I did sewing at school we all made from the teacher's pattern a full circle skirt. When we had finished that we could then make a underskirt to push out 1950's style,.Your peasant skirt without the pattern is that underskirt, when I fist saw the skirt I thought it was ,but until I was not sure nice to see it again and yes it is an easy skirt and can so easily be made longer as you did on the dress.

You're so good at explaining things! I know how to sew by hand just enough to do good mending but I don't own a sewing machine and I'm too lazy to actually make things by hand. Even so, I'm completely mesmerized by these videos and after watching them I feel almost like I could just walk up to a sewing machine and start making stuff!
But before I do anything silly like that, I need to ask a really dumb question! When you're gathering, how do you know which one is the bobbin thread?

I just try to sew each one from the same side so I don't forget. Since I did both gathering stitches with the back side of the fabric facing up, I knew the thread on the right side of the fabric was the bobbin thread. If I can't remember, I just try each thread. The bobbin thread is much easier to pull.
