- This video is for beginners who would like to make a skirt without using a pattern. This peasant skirt is easy to sew and can be made to fit anyone. (It was a busy homeschool day at this house during filming so it's not the quietest video. I hope you can hear all my directions on how to sew this pretty skirt!)

I’ve watched at least half a dozen videos on making tiered skirts (I’m a beginner) and this is the clearest one-honestly the only one I can follow all the way through. Andrea was a very good teacher. I hope her family visit these videos from time to time and remember how Andrea’s public appreciated her. 😔🙏🏼
I love this video and I am sorry to hear that she has passed. Prayers for the family.
Are you serious, how terrible.
When was this that is so sad and what vid
omg that's terrible 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@keltyocity1029 It was about 3ish years. She passed from breast cancer that spread (if I remember correctly). It all happened so suddenly.
Wish I had left more comments when Andrea was here to read them. She was a good teacher and a friend to many that she'd never met.
What happened to her? :(
Andrea tragically passed away in August from a very rare, aggressive cancer. 😢

@@shellyreddy598 oh may her soul RIP ☹️
So sad to hear she passed :(
These are my favorite! I'm a high school teacher and these are like sweatpants that are work appropriate. No concerns about bending over desks or how you sit! So awesome!
That's why I love these too 😂
I am so sorry for your loss Mills Family.
Andrea was a wonderful teacher. I enjoyed the clear directions and simplicity of this tutorial.
Hare Krishna.
Thank you for the beautiful demonstration.
The tip on sewing the hem BEFORE adding it as a tier is so practical.
Thank you for showing the way to make the measurements.
Increasing by a half of the previous tier is logical and easy to remember.
I am a plus size woman so I will be adding some narrow tiers at the top.
The fabric is gorgeous.
I am sure the little button was delighted with her skirt.
I'm SO excited to try this, I'm tall and never find peasant skirts that are long enough for me. for a very beginner sewer this actually feels doable!! Thank you!!
I’m the opposite! They are always wayy too long for me lol
Seeing this detailed description, I could make a beautiful skirt. All thanks to you dear Andrea. As you have arrived to the glorious presence of our Lord Jesus Christ May you enjoy His presence continuously. Will surely meet one day. Praise Jesus praise God.
oh god this involves math. that’s it, i’m giving up on my cottage core dreams
if that ain’t the biggest mood
You can do it!
I was trying to make a skirt to wear with my demonias but I gave up 😂
@@ggdcutie same !!
IKR I CRY EVERYTIME I DO MATH
Lovely. My Nan used to make me skirts like this...we called them gypsy skirts and the top and bottom tier were the same material with a different colour or pattern for the middle tier. Nan used to also sew lace round the bottom of mine....watching this brought back lovely memories of my dear Nan.
She was such a great teacher ....so patient and kind.....
What a perfect project for a beginning sewer! It covers many of the basic techniques you need to learn: gathering, hemming, casings, etc. And SO cute on Eden! Loved her big smile at the end as she modeled her new skirt : )
Reminds me of the days when I used to sew clothing for my kiddos. Prayers for your precious family, Tom!
Thank you! I was able to make a skirt overnight for my daughter using your tutorial. And it was my first attempt!!
She came to my rescue with this video tutorial. Hope her family are coping as best they can with her loss.
I love that the girls have these video's of their mum to go back and learn from. Rest in peace Andrea.🙏🏽❤️
This came up in my search for a basic how to of this type of skirt.
So sad to read in the comments that she has passed. But how amazing that she is still helping and teaching people with the videos she left behind.
Beautiful!! You're a good teacher Andrea, thank you! ❤
I'm rewatching some videos. Sewing videos seemed like a good refresher. Our dear friend Andrea was a wonderful teacher. :)
gardnerfamily90 she really was. I knew right away today, that I need to find Andreas skirt video because my girls need some new skirts. Such a blessing. Thanks Tom for leaving all of the videos up. God bless.
The sewing videos are so enjoyable! I haven't sewn for quite awhile and it makes me want to start a project!
I haven't watched her vids for a while. Since she passed away. She has so much good advice in her videos and sh definitely is missed.
I was looking up a skirt pattern and this came up. :) I have watched this when it first came out. What a great lady you were Andrea. Your videos were so lovely and great.
Ooo, I like the tip about pinning a couple of reference spots before you gather the next tier. I've always shied away from gathered items to avoid having to sort out equal/smooth gathering.
Get a ruffler. They do a great job. Its very easy and always perfectly even.🤗
Far FAR easier for me to understand than any pattern I have ever purchased. Wish you were around so I could make this for my girls and myself and show you my fine work!
Eden,is so pretty ,you can see she loves her skirt.
I so enjoy sitting down and watching your videos every day. I'm well beyond the kid stage in life but I do enjoy watching the interactions amongst your family. I'm especially enjoying the sewing videos. I've been sewing since I was 7 years old but I don't sew much anymore. I actually got my sewing machine out because watching you reminded me how much I enjoy making stuff. It's kind of like sitting with a friend each day please do keep the videos coming.
Thank You So Much For This Throw Back Tom Watching Andrea, Hearing Andrea, It Warms My Heart❤❤
great tutorial! I appreciate all of your editing and clear instructions. My favorite fun part was the stick figure illustration! And what a gorgeous quilt that you are doing the elastic explanation upon - very lovely.
Thank goodness I found someone who enjoys sewing! I enjoy sewing also. It's so refreshing to see that ur teaching ur daughter to sew. My Mom taught my sister's and I very young to sew. Your daughter looked very excited n happy when she wore her new skirt. Soooo cute! Ur a good Mama u should be proud!
Thank you for this well explained tutorial.Material for each tier must be 1 and a half times longer than the previous tier's. I don't have to wreck my brain. Rest safely with your Maker dear . Be a leading light to your family. 🙏🌼🌼
I remember in the 70's I made a lot of these skirts. Eden looked so cute in it.
I thought of you yesterday, Andrea. I normally thrift all of my clothes, but once in a while, I'll walk through a mall to see the current fashion trends (so I'll know what to thrift, lol!) And guess what? Your signature blouse with the drapey front is right on trend right now!
I LOVE YOU! This is so much simpler than most "simple no pattern" tutorials~
Yoyr daughter's smile in her new skirt says it all!
I love how ☮️ ful your voice is, and how you & Tom make a 🏠 a real home using the resources God has given.you.- some people are never :) whether they have a big 🏠 or a great deal of $
Great skirt & another fun video
This looks really good and not too difficult for a beginner. I'm thinking I might make myself one using 3 different colours of fabric.Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. :)
I love this video!!! Im so in awe of people who can use a sowing machine! I have tried to use a sowing machine but for whatever reason i can not get the hang of it. But i can sow by hand really well thanks to my grandma & great grandma for teaching me. But yeah love this video!!!!
The best thing about this video is that you encompassed all stages of making the skirt right from buying or preparing the fabric. 👍🏻
I wish you had been my math teacher in school 😂 Thank you for making it so simple!
I did mine in the teal/turquoise batik. Love it.
gathers trouble me. I groaned every few inches. not kidding.
Thnx Andrea!!! This was perfect & so easy to follow. I needed to make peasant skirts for 2 little girls for a Fatima celebration at church & they came out sooo cute! I have experience sewing quilts, but zero with clothes. Will definitely check out your other videos. Thanks again!!!
I've watched a few videos about sewing this type of skirt and I've got to say, this was by far the clearest! I plan on making matching skirts for my daughter and myself--Thanks!
I'm so glad; good luck!
Andrea, that skirt is gorgeous! Thanks for making this video. Eden looked so beautiful in her new skirt! TFS!!
Great video!!! loved the way you had detailed step by step instructions. Thank you Andrea
I need to make some skirts for my girls. I looked through Pinterest then remembered you had this tutorial. It is perfect for what we need. I'll be making some for church as well as play. Great instructions!
So sad to hear you are gone. Thank you so much for the info you shared.
thanks, what a great tutorial! you make it look easy! love the visuals! I love sewing without a pattern so this is perfect for me!
You are freaking genius! Thank you so much! I’m about to make several of these for the summer! ☺️☺️☺️
It's BEAUTIFUL! You are a good instructor! Appreciate your teaching. Thank you!
So sweet and a beautiful project. Very clear instructions .Thank you!
You are an awsome teacher! Thank you so much ❤ This was my first video and I got all the details perfectly!
The skirt looks so good. Thanks for sharing.
Andrea, you are looking nice and refreshed!
THANK YOU for showing in detail how to do a gathering stitch!! I could not figure this out! Bless you ❤
This is exactly the video I’ve been looking for! I’m planning to make a Mirabel costume for my daughter for Halloween. Thank you thank you thank you for this!!
Oh my goodness, I’m doing the same thing but for myself!! Good luck, ma’am, I’m sure she’ll love it!
This video just came up on my feed and I so enjoyed taking some extra me time and watching it.
Love your happy, adorable little model! 🤗
NICE!! I love it! Growing up with a cackle of women sewers and playing catch-up at my age (I'm decent tho), making my own patterns is flippin' intimidating! 😊 You're a Fab teacher! I only had to play part of the math back once! 😉 Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you for sharing & teaching us. I know I don't do some things out of worry of failing. Your hair looks good up. In one of your videos a few months ago you had your hair French braided & it looked so beautiful! I wear my hair up a lot in the summer. Thanks for sharing your family with us!
It's sooooo pretty! You simplified it for us. Thank you!
Such great clear, thorough instructions and video. Thank you!
So clever! It's one of those garments that looks like it must be complicated, but it's actually (what my mom calls) "stupid easy". I already own a pattern for tiered skirts, but this video is definitely going to be bookmarked for potential future use.
So cute.....I remember one of their T shirts is an orange color so this will be perfect. She looks very happy with her new skirt.
Yep, I'm making new orange clothes for the girls today. Tomorrow is my monthly shopping trip to Walmart and my clothes shopping trip so I'm hoping to find a matching shirt to go with the skirt.
Andrea, do you have an A. C. Moore store (formerly Ben Franklin store) near you. They sell T shirts in all nice bright colors (can't remember the price but they usually have coupons) They might would give a discount considering the number you purchase. Perhaps they have an on line shopping also, I never looked into that. Have a Blessed day.
We used to have a Ben Frankling, but it went out of business a couple of years ago. I've noticed Hobby Lobby has bright T-shirts, too.
Wow, I watched your video this morning (Sewing with a Pattern, I think) and it inspired me to sew something for my daughters. I chose a skirt in a sewing book I already had because I didn't want to have to go out and buy a pattern. It turns out the pattern I picked out this morning is exactly the skirt you just made in this video!!! I feel much more confident trying to make it now that I was able to watch you do it. Thanks! ☺
I'm excited! I am aiming to make 3 peasant skirts- for my 2 daughters and I for the summer. I feel like this video gave me what I need to get started! So, so, so excited! Now when to dare to start........
Hmm... Any tips on making this maternity savvy? :) Baby 4 is coming!
Love this! Really needed this to finish out my project
Very pretty skirt. I have to say I love the fabrics that you use! Now I want to make some skirts.
Loved this have watched a few videos on this and yours was the best so clear on how to do measurements and plan out thank you 😁
Great videos 👍
Super helpful as a home brew pattern, totally customizable. I’m going to use this to make patchwork velvet skirt 😎
You explained this wonderfully! ❤

U teach very clearly. Thanku
What a wonderful video, your explanation is awesome! I thoroughly enjoy all your video's and also wanted to let you know that you look amazing with your hair up.
Andrea, this was a very good video and you look absolutely beautiful with your hair pulled back.

Loved it! Thank you for sharing.
What a sweet Creative mother
Super cute! 👍🏼
Absolutely beautiful 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thank you so much, easy to understand. It is what i was looking for. Again thanks.
I have a tip that might make your gathering go a little faster. I actually have a hard time doing gathering using the method that you use. So somewhere along the way I discovered that if you use a large zig-zag stitch over dental floss. You can pull the gathers with the dental floss. Once the skit is all sewn you can slide the dental floss out. be sure to wrap the end that you are not pulling around a pin and pin it down so you don't just end up pulling it out without making the gathers.
I knew they made specialty gathering tape that worked this way, but I'd never thought of trying a homemade version. Good idea!
This sewing video is so helpful.
Very pretty, thank you for showing us how to do it , I will try to make my granddaughter one. Xxxx
You look so nice with your hair up ! 😊
Thank you so much! Easy to understand and follow!!!🖒😊
Great tutorial!! Thank you so much!!
