She has great video edit skills too , for a second I thought it was a TV show episode that got uploaded to UA-cam , , amazing edit skills , , ,bravo 👏 😋👍👍
Gorg!!! There’s a little trick for the pockets. As you’re sewing down the side seam towards the top edge of the pocket, instead of cutting the thread and skipping the pocket and continuing down the side seam, make sure the needle is down and turn the fabric so that you sew around the pocket. When you finish around the pocket and get back to the side seam turn the fabric and continue sewing down the side seam. Hope that made sense. Happy sewing!
Absolutely stunning. Made me grin. I bought sheets from the thrift store when I started sewing so that if I went wrong I wasn't wasting exspensive fabric. Turns out there is no need to buy exspensive fabric. I made a beautiful dress from laura Ashley curtains, and another from a duvet :) it's a perfect way to make sure your wardrobe is unique.
Many years ago, I worked in the Bed & Bath Department at a brand new store. I made 2 floor length Hawaiian dresses to wear during sheet sales. One of the Display Department men sewed a couple of long sleeve shirts from sheets. We looked great! I've sewn floor to ceiling drapes from king size sheets and ruffled curtains from twin size sheets. I've even made a tufted wall covering for my daughter's room from sheets. Sheets can be the perfect fabric for many projects! Thanks for posting this video!
She brings a flood of memories back for me. I remember sewing my prom dress. No one knew it & I didn't tell. It wasn't "fashionable" to sew at the time. Thank you for this tutorial! The dress looks amazing! Could you maybe explain where the measurements come from? Like when you show all the pieces and their measurements, it would be really helpful if you could explain or show how you came up with those measurements, it would make it so much easier to recreate the pattern. Hi Ally, Im a little late at seeing this video. You are a very talented young lady. I am 62 and I wondered if young people were sewing their own clothes. I even stopped at a Girl Scout table and asked them if they even taught sewing any more. It is very refreshing to see your BEAUTIFUL creations and to read the comments of all the people that had made this dress. Good Luck to you. You have a very "bright" future in fashion IF YOU WANT ONE !!! GOOD LUCK !!!!

You did an outstanding job in design, construction, modeling, and, most importantly, demonstration. I love using vintage or 'found' materials to make something completely different.
I made a 3 piece suit from some beautiful sheets. My colleagues were actually shocked when I told them the suit was made from bed sheets and even more shocked when they learned I sew. That was years ago, I just do quilts now. Great video keep up the good work !!!

Tip for doing a lot of pleats: for some reason, I can't always get my pleats to lay right as they go under the foot, so after much trial and error, I learned to do a wide loose stitch to hold them all in place while you sew. It takes a few extra minutes, but that's better than having to rip out stitches and redo multiple times like I did the first time.

ABSOLUTELY !!!!!
Insert gif of Carol Burnett spoofing Scarlett O’Hara. Lol -beautiful dress!!
I was looking for dresses to make out of my curtains and I NEW it would pop up. Watched it anyway cuz i saw it in the window and fell in love 😂
Late to the comment game but you look like a princess going for a royal function at a late summer afternoon garden party. It is whimsical, yet very elegant. It is stunning what you did with a bed sheet. Simply beautiful!
I love your videos❤️😘😍 you inspired me to sew my own dress
aww thank you!! that's so awesome!!✨
@@PaperStxrs omg you replied 🥺
How creative and clever!!
Hey!! I was wondering if you could explain in a video or something how do you do your measurements bc I LOVE all your videos and I really want to make my own dress but I’m very stupid and I just don’t know how lmao😭
(P.S. I’m sorry if my English isn’t the best ly💕)
Your English is just fine, no worries.
P Stream Walls, please don't say you're stupid! You're smart enough to want to know more and even smarter to ask for help! You are fortunate to be able to see this video and there so many more that are tutorials for sewing. You can do it!
Your English is very good, by the way!
@@annarodriguez9868 OMG THANK U GUYSSS, you are so nicee 😭😭🖐🏼 hope ur having a nice day!! Love youuu
@@pstreamwalls4769 Thank you. You are so kind.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes because we learn from our mistakes if we don't give up! Sometimes, I start a project that is harder than I thought and I will step away from it and do something else. When I come back to the project I see it with a clear eye and I can finish it better.
@@annarodriguez9868 that’s very smart
I love that fabric!! I also think this dress would make a beautiful bride's maid dress for a summer wedding!!
How do you know how big to make each panel? I sew with custom patterns often, but I’ve never sewn a fitted bodice like this (I usually just add darts) cuz I can’t figure out how to measure myself snd then translate it to the weird curvy parts
I made most of my prom dresses. So much fun!
