THE BEAUTIFUL FANTASTIC JUDITH DURHAM AND THE FABULOUS SEEKERS SING A BEAUTIFUL RENDITION OF A FANTASTIC BEAUTIFUL GOSPEL SONG PEAISE GOD AMEN 🙏 THE LATE GREAT GOD GIFTED JUDITH DURHAM R I P AMEN ❤
Your comment is interesting since in 1967, alongside the boys, Judith was named "Australian of the year", a title which had as a previous recipient the Opera Singer Dame Joan Sutherland.
The Seekers were the first group I ever listened to as a child and I learnt to play their songs on my guitar. Thanks to UA-cam we can now enjoy original film clips again!
Best of all the folk groups from the 60's, absolutely brilliant these 4 and of course Judith's singing is simply perfection with massive feeling, There has never been a better folk group.
this song got swept up into part of the 60's protest movements, it has been a great anthem for generations of protest movements......and it's just a great tune
I'm from the USA and in 1966 I was only nine years old. But as I teen I remember hearing Georgy Girl and loving it. It wasn't though until this very year when I've been ill and bedridden that I found this wonderful group on UA-cam. Judith has the best voice, so clear. I wish music today was more like this. I've purchased one of their CD's and I'm sure more purchases are in store for me.
Hi Mary , i'm from Manchester UK, and in 1966 i was also nine years old, like yourself ..... keep listening to this brilliant group, and I really hope you are feeling much better now.
Pozdrowienia z Polski dla Was! SC
You never forget your first love. Sixty years this year since I fell for her, singing and shaking her tambourine on a show that I think was called "Singalong."
This folk song was sung by civil rights demonstrators in the 1960s with various lyrics. There are some lyrics that sing "like a fly that's sticking in the butter/ It shall be removed." I remember hearing the song at a folk concert in about 1966 in NYC.
I think this is the concert from the Myer Music Bowl. This was huge in Australia. I think perhaps the first televised concert?? I read that one in four Australians watched that show either live or live on tv. I’m old enough to remember it. Her diction is so clear, unlike many singers today. And no warble warble around the note like singers today. Just a good spiritual version. Remember this was the 60’s and they would have been influenced by the civil rights movement in the US.
Shazza, I think it was coincidence that they liked gospel and spirituals, and this song happened to fit in with the movement. Doesn't Judith look fabulous? I always loved her singing those songs and whacking her tambourine.
Judith looking beautiful and so feminine. Don't you just love that smile at 1.14 when she steps back from the boys. Beautiful dress as well which I think she designed herself. Would love to know the colours.
That smile..... it's great to know that Judith forgot her insecurities when she was performing. I like to think that at times like this she was happy, and as one with the audience. From another helpless admirer.
Get better quickly Judith. Never seen you live but Seekers Songs run in my brain every day. Was about to book into Newcastle when I heard the bad news. REBOUND! It means so much to me.
Judith is the best female singer on the planet. And she is beautiful with a streamlined figure here. Where on earth is this 'dumpy girl with weight problems'?
Yes, it's amazing in a way, but understandable (and endearing) in another, that Judith was subject to anxiety about her looks and attractiveness, given the stunner she was (and still is IMHO). She is beauty personified.
Judith was one of the angels...RIP....thought of this song on way to airport and flight to Melbourne from Europe....MSO and Myer Music Bowl i guess....both audience quality and music have rather degenerated in 60 years
+Byron Gordon The Seekers are from Melbourne, and this appearance was at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne's beautifullRoyal Botanical Gardens. Here they were appearing at a popular "Music for the people" concert. There's a big crowd, but nothing like their last appearance in 1968 when over 200,000 people attended! Here they performed a "set" of three or four songs. The concert went for several hours.
The Bill Haley concert I saw in London in 1977 didn't last a lot longer. Though that was because a massive fight broke out. I think it was at the New Victoria Theatre.
I don't really think this is Judith's best voice compared to later iterations. But it is still a standard by which so many cannot reach. Besides that, this enduring song should be a collective, resolute power ballad as we square off against COVID-19, right around the globe.
absolutely, she is beyond brilliant, she is in the stratosphere among the elite of the elite, Judith Durham forever.
I kind of thought about that comment, and yes, it seems pretty accurate.

The wonderfully talented Judith Durham. She had the perfect voice! One of the all time great female singers!
We'll miss you always darling, Judy babe, we'll never find another you.
Those were the luckiest three boys in the world. RIP beautiful Judith.
激しい叫びが1つになって
今日も万博にこだまする!
The boys are incredibly talented musicians and vocalists too
She stole my heart again....
One of the best if not the greatest female voices Australia has produced
Your comment is interesting since in 1967, alongside the boys, Judith was named "Australian of the year", a title which had as a previous recipient the Opera Singer Dame Joan Sutherland.
She is up with the greatest in the world, no doubt there
The greatest female voice any country has ever produced, bar none.
john brooker totally agree but Aretha and Barbra were there as well 😀
Probably only Whitney Houston in her heyday could move me with music the way that Judith Durham has always done.
Brilliant Seekers , silmply class as always.
Even her live performances are perfection. She never misses a note and the guys are a perfect blend of harmony!
Yes, well stated. An incredible musical group which can never be topped!
The Seekers were the first group I ever listened to as a child and I learnt to play their songs on my guitar. Thanks to UA-cam we can now enjoy original film clips again!
That's how you do the business- no gimmicks on and off and the crowd ecstatic!
Best of all the folk groups from the 60's, absolutely brilliant these 4 and of course Judith's singing is simply perfection with massive feeling, There has never been a better folk group.
This live is the best version of this song. It’s perfect❤
Mesmerizing. The great group in all their splendour.
The Seekers and Judith nothing better than this!
this song got swept up into part of the 60's protest movements, it has been a great anthem for generations of protest movements......and it's just a great tune
oh how this comment is real with what’s going on right now
Esther--you help me believe, and hold on, and have faith, and persevere
You can feel the atmosphere at this concert, all these years later.
I could listen to The Seekers all day
I would if I were you.

@Mary Reddel. Hi. How is your health? Jesus is El Shaddai - more than enough.
Judith's voice is a tresure. I have been moved by her artistry for nearly 50 years.
This was recorded in March 1966 at the Myer Music Bowl in front of a crowd of 110,000. They sang 4 songs and this was an encore.
Ha! I thought that was where it was.
Judith wearing one of her rare low cut dresses and sounding fabulous.
Only four songs? Who else was on the program?
One of my favourites from the 60's
This is the most miraculous moment in history. And I can watch it any time I want.
Rest in Peace, Judith. Wonderful voice, sing praise above.
Seekers for ever.

Well, either that was the shortest concert I've ever seen given by one band, or that was an encore.
