These aren't just the top Disney songs of the 20th century, Some of them are the top best Disney songs of all time! They played a part in our childhood and have remained classic to this day!.
Damn right
"Circle Of Life" is absolutely iconic. As soon as you hear that Zulu opening, you know you're in for a hard hitting song. It's beautiful, perfectly paced, and expertly lays out one of the film's core themes. It's so good, that the entire teaser trailer for _The Lion King_ was just this sequence. To this day, I cannot sing it without tearing up. It's simply perfect.
Indeed, Disney greatest masterpiece.
One of the best teasers for an animated film. I really do wish more animated trailers could advertise their film with just one scene from the film.
I Agreed!
Reflection def from Mulan has been engraved in my head for years. So is You'll be in my heart. It truly is magical
Here's what I learned from Disney:
1.) 'Beauty And The Beast' - never judge a book by its cover because you never what's underneath
2.) 'A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes' - never stop dreaming
3.) 'Under The Sea' - adventures and wonders of the ocean
4.) 'Reflection' - be yourself and stay true to your heart
5.) 'Let It Go' - let go of fear
6.) 'Friend Like Me' - having a friend like the Genie
7.) 'Hakuna Matata' - it means no worries
8.) 'Colors Of The Wind' - appreciating nature
There were so many iconic Disney songs from the 20th century especially during the renaissance era between 1989-1999
What can I say? I’m both a 90s kid and a 2000s kid. And pop culture today has never stopped me.
Beauty and the Beast is a timeless classic and the ballroom scene is sooooo iconic, Disney was ahead of its time
I miss classic Disney, they sure don't make movies like this anymore!
I know, right? Almost everything these days are reboots or remakes from Disney. Sure, their original works are hit or miss both commercially and in audience reception-wise but nothing like they used to.
@@kamsismith I highly concur! Why do we need countless reboots and sequels? What happened to creative, entertaining stories?
Well except when they make the exact same movie
Encanto, Moana, Frozen?
@@trinaqI don't watch Disney as much as I used to because of this. The only time I watch Disney movies(excluding Disney Channel Original Movies) are if they air reruns on TV or their new movie interest me.
"Reflection" will always be number one for me
"A Whole New World" was the first Disney song I fell in love with from watching "Aladdin", and since then, I've never looked back!
Im glad "youll be in my heart" made the list. Its my favorite Disney song.
I just realized Mulan celebrated its 25th anniversary
I use to sing “you will be in my heart” to my children as babies to go to sleep. 💗It will always be one of my favorite songs from a Disney movie.
I think that among my favs are: Circle of Life, A Whole new world, A friend like me, Beauty and the Beast and Reflection.. there is also Hakuna Matata.. The 90s are for me like the golden age of Disney movies.. I still like it today, plus its songs
The Bells of Notre Dame was really a powerful song to hear. And intense!🔔
I just knew “Beauty and the Beast” would be among the top three. Not only is the film among my top favorite Disney films of all time, but it’s also among my top favorite love stories of all time. Whether I’m watching the original film or the live-action remake, the ballroom dance scene NEVER fails to make me feel all lovey-dovey and cry tears of happiness due to how beautiful it is! The film is only one month older than me, and even after 31 years, that scene NEVER fails to make me believe in true love. “Beauty and the Beast” truly is a tale as old as time
Beauty and the Beast came out exactly one year before I was born. Aladdin came out on my birth year.
Couldn’t agree more! I was 9 years old when the film first came out and instantly loved it straight away!
Colours of the wind, instrumental, was played at my ordination ❤
We sang it in middle school chorus.
Angela Lansbury was a Dame for all her charity work as well as her acting work
I listen and grew to every single song of these classic timeless beautiful Disney music.
Man, Disney was magical and all so magical ❤❤❤❤❤
reading the plot of "Ballad of Hua Mulan", "Reflection" is actually very fitting because in the "Ballad", tho Mulan was doing expected East Asian girl tasks (e.g. textile production & household chores) she has a sort of *existential identity crisis*
My family is Lebanese & Syrian & I love the song reflection because I’ve felt a huge amount of familial pressure & I grew up thinking I wasn’t good enough for my family.
Princess Arwen. You must love, the LOTR. I do too.
I'm currently obsessed with Once Upon a Dream. Sleeping Beauty is my favorite Walt Disney movie. It's so gorgeous and memorizing. It's comforting and I love it. I was rewwatching it today, perfection
This gave me happy tears! Absolute top 10 picks of my childhood. Although Part of Your World is my top fav, but Lion King will always be everyone’s classic of the 90s. Next year, the film will be 30 years old!!
"Relfection", "Beauty and the Beast", "Part of Your World", "Once Upon a Dream", "You'll Be in My Heart", "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes", "When You Wish Upon a Star", "A Whole New World", "Colors of the Wind", "Go the Distance", "Circle of Life"
Great choices, 👍 love all of them.
Colours of the wind from Pocahontas move me brings me tears of joy and very emotional to me love it too. Pocahontas real always be my favourite Disney animated movie ever.
That's my favorite Disney song, too.
I actually think this song tops all others from this list with the possible exception of Reflection and The bells of Notre Dame.
Reflection and Eye to Eye are absolutel masterpieces
Can we all agree that Alan Menken is responsible for a significant portion of the century’s best Disney music
YES!! He’s absolutely brilliant
@@user-dr6kz9ug3w thank you
I'm so glad Tarzan made this list!
Disney still has good songs from its 21st century animated movies like Tangled, Frozen, and Moana, such as When Will My Life Begin, I See The Light, Let It Go, How Far I’ll Go, and You’re Welcome, but they’re just lacking something which prevents them from being as memorable compared to 20th century Disney songs
Yes so many great songs.
@@slystone4892”I love Why Should I Worry” by Billy Joel from the movie Oliver & Company You Ain’t Never Had A Friend Like Me & Prince Ali both by the Late Robin Williams (R.I.P.) The Bells Of Notre Dame I wanna be Like You from The Jungle Book
Sorry but I dont agree… I think some of the 21st century Disney songs are better than the 20th century ones!
@@eduardoj3314 examples please
obviously "Let It Go" kkkkk
This top shows Disney's prime. All this songs are beautiful and made the childhood of most of us extraordinary. I never was a big fan of Dumbo, Pinocchio or Snow White but I'm thankful for grow up with them in my shelf.
The fact that I won’t say I’m in Love didn’t even get an honourable mention is criminal
This list is thousands of times better than Billboard’s list
any music from the era of disney still works anytime its just that's catchy the hook the meaning the melody it's just great for belting or dancing
Love all of the songs listed but The Circle of Life is just a classic song on a level of its own along with the movie itself which imo has the best opening scene of any movie I have seen!
Yes, Disney greatest achievement musically.
Such a crime that “Reflection” was SNUBBED of an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. One of the worst sins of the Academy I’ll never forgive. 🤦♂️
All of these songs are my childhood! Thanks Ms Mojo , and a happy saturday to you as well. Take care and God bless you, see you soon and greetings from Colombia to you as well.
A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes and When You Wish Upon a Star are my all time favorites! 💖💖
I don’t know if this counts as live action, but I would like to give another honorable mention to Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah from Song of the South
Sorry, but that movie is just too controversial, and anything associated with it has been banished to cinematic purgatory.
I love Zip-a-dee-doo-dah.
@@isoldejaneholland8370and? Still one of the best songs…
As someone born in the mid-80s I saw most of the Disney Renaissance in the theaters. They blew me away on the big screen but the opening "The Circle of Life" was Disney's greatest blow you away movie intro.❤
the old little mermaid and the new little mermaid are still in my childhood memories comes with old and new
I still like “A Whole New World” from 1994’s ‘Aladdin.’
That came out in 1992.
I like your list but two things:
1. When You Wish Upon a Star should easily be number one. That's such a defining song for Disney and has an iconic presence.
2. All of your selections are slow moving songs. I'd have liked to see some faster paced ones, such as Hakuna Matata or Under the Sea or Be Our Guest.
Again, though, good job!
Magic Carpet Ride ~ recital song for my daughter complete with a pink harem costume ~ so very many memories with this song!
When you guys do a 21st century version of this list, please be sure to include I'm Still Here from the underrated masterpiece, Treasure Planet.
Whenever I feel down in the dumps, I turn to Hercules’ “Go the Distance”. That song is undefeated against my depression. Thank you Herc, thank you.
I know how you feel. Whenever I hear that song, I dream that I have a second chance in life and am able to fulfill my deepest dreams.
I love that song, but for some reason, when the "I can go the distance" line is sung, I picture the sheet music...and I don't even really read music!
Ringo Starr did a really great version of When You Wish Upon A Star
I miss old Disney ❤
Who doesn't?
I would’ve loved to see the lion king in 94 at the age I am now at 32. Circle of Life would’ve been awarded a massive round of applause for sure in the theater
I love this flashback, good now that I'm older, I know that all those stories are horribly Grimm😂
Some very importan omissions…
God help the outcasts-Hunchback
Can you feel the love tonight- Lion King
Out there- Hunchback
It's been ages since I last watched A Goofy Movie. "Eye to Eye" will always be one of my all time favorites
disney songs have soul and are so beautiful
I was just shocked, SHOCKED, that Circle of Life was number 1 on a MsMojo Disney list. I thought there was no way it would be the top one for the 13th time straight! My whole family competes to guess number 2 now because all of us know what number 1 will be. So predictable.
Imagine if Gigantic had been a reality.
It might've been as good as Tangled and Frozen put together. It's tragic that it was cancelled.😢
From the day we arrived on the planet, and blinking, step into the sun. There's more to see than ever than ever been seen. More to do that can ever been done...
The Lion King (1994) is Disney's best- music, story and animation wise.
I miss 2D animation.
it still a thing
Don't we all😢
Disney is getting highly praised on this channel. 👍
I think you forgot 2, Frozen-"Let it go" and Wicked-"For Good". They at least deserve honorable mentions!!
Amazing ❤❤❤❤
Oh my goodness what a great list of songs and tugs on the heart strings so good so disney
I love watching these videos but the songs always get stock in my head for hours. Then more songs join in the fun and they start merging into a single song. I look forward to humming and singing Disney songs.
Circle of life is definitely number 1
Number 9
I remember me and my sister as young children danced to that as Mom recorded it on video (lost now). :)
We are one, he lives in you, deception, can you feel the love tonight, every Phil Collins banger from Tarzan, I’ll make a man outta you, are all in my top tier GOATED Disney songs list
A Whole New World made the list? Awesome!
I always feel like reflection is the best coming out song
Be Our Guest should've gotten an honourable mention at least! Still a great list.
Agreed! My favorite Disney songs are Be our Guest, Colors of the Wind, The Bear Necessities and God Help the Outcasts, from Hunchback.
Eye to eye from the goofy movie should be on here. Love that song and movie.
figured a good number of these would be from the renaissance, as that was the golden age of Disney musical hits
I love them all, the only change I would make would be to swap "The Bells of Notre Dame" with "Colours of the wind"
This list is so much better
I was a 90s kid when the Disney Renaissance era came.
Surprised this list was not made sooner.
When you wish upon a Star should have been #1 its what played though the disney logo on all the classic vhs movies. Whe you hear that you think Disney in the good old days
I don't make many comments on these but (in my opinion) you missed an even better one from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Out There just gives me the chills every time I hear it. Not even an honorable mention here. The list was great but I really feel that Out There is better than some on this list.
I love all songs ❤
I love Disney songs
the number 7, 3 and 1 are my favourites.
I like all of them
Had a feeling this was gonna be filled with mostly 90s songs.
The Runner Up list is more representative of Disney as a whole. Not just 90s Disney’s.
She doesn’t fear copyright, copyright fears her
Out of my top like…21 favorite Disney songs of all time only 1 of them was from the 21st century. It’s Married Life from Up. But all the others were from Cinderella, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pinocchio, Robin Hood, Beauty and the Beast Tarzan, 101 Dalmatians, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Aladdin. I was born in the early 2000s but I mainly watched the classics growing up. Cinderella was and still is my favorite Disney movie (the 1950 and 2015 are practically tied as my number 1 Disney movie) and Robin Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, The Lion King and many others from the 20th century are some of my favorite Disney movies!
This made my millennial ❤️ happy.
Ever since Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs became the first Disney animated movie.
I have never had the experience of putting the Lion King in and pressing play. I watched that in the theatre and I have never gone in for a second dose of trauma.
Refection is one of favourites. You'll be in my heart is a favourite too. Part of Your World reminds me of camp as we sang it a lot. A Whole New World is one of my favourites as well. Jasmine is my favourite princess. Go the Distance is a favourite too.
"I won't say (I'm in love)" "Hercules" (1997) is my fovorite.
Mates, while Disney Pocahontas is my favourite, it does have issues.
Lile even though it's a strong song about Natives and the Eviroment, Colours of the Wind is overrated.
My favourite song is Just Around the River Bend but it's my fav, not good enough. Middle of the River, a deleted song, is a shame because it sounds good.
But the best song of the movie that sadly got deleted is If I Never Knew You, Peroid! Bet if it made the movie, it be high on this WatchMojo list. It is a very powerful love song. Have a listen to it, bet you will love it :)
You probably already did this before, I'm going to ask anyway, can you do a video of all Frozen/2 songs
Number 4
It's a hit or a miss. Depends on how you ID the meaning of it.
It can be ridiculous.
Wishing on a star for dreams to come true?
Unfortunately it's not what life is. Yes you can hope/pray but doesn't mean it will happen.
C'mon...
While not necessarily the order, I can agree with MOST of the songs on this list.
Disney has the best soundtracks
"so this is love" from cinderella and "fly love" from rio have to be top 10
Once upon a dream should’ve been higher on the list, but I’m glad it got a place
I like to see the opening/introduction songs from movies
You forgot “Freak like Me” by Adina Howard from Poccahantis.
PS: number 1 has an incredible into in Shahili language I think and the movie scene overall is an amazing opening scene, but when the English singer (or so as different by language obviously, as Let It Go reminds me :) starts, sorry but isn't as strong enough. She doesn't kill it but could have been better. It makes me wonder if being Number 1 is the correct way alright?
If you liked this list, look up mojos top 100 Disney songs. It’s awesome!!!
I had a feeling one of the songs from The Lion King would be number 1.
