I'm having trouble positioning the elevator correctly...I know you can place it and an angle in either the mesiobuccal side or distobuccal and you use either anticlockwise or clockwise wrist motion...what am I doing wrong? Oh and how much do you push it down the pdl how do you know you got enough depth... elevating is just a bit hard for me...any tips would be appreciated
Deeper is better Dean as you'll get more of a mechanical advantage. You need to ensure the you are using the bone as your fulcrum, in addition to making sure that you have a solid purchase on the tooth. Thanks for your kind comments! I apologize for not mentioning the manufacturer. Hu-Friedy is who makes it. It is a 3mm straight luxator so in reality, you could probably get a comparable instrument from a number of suppliers. Some prefer the EL3C which has a bit of a bend at the tip. I just happen to gravitate towards these ones. All the best!

Hi Madiha - if I am understanding correctly, in this case, using the bur allows you to gain access to the root structure by removing bone around it. Thinner burs match luxators perfectly and allow you to then luxate the root. Hopefully that helps?

I love EL3C but it's always out of stock from the distributor of my country. What do you think of EL4C? I noticed many OMS would go for the EL3C and EL5C, but would skip the 4mm. Just wondering why not the 4mm because the EL5C is too big in my opinion?
I have actually never used a 4mm luxator, but I would assume that other companies should carry something similar to the EL3C. A 3mm luxator of any brand would certainly be comparable, although the tip angulation may vary a bit. I always felt the 5mm luxators were too big until I learned when to apply them. Try them on the distobuccal of lower third molars or under a mesially tipped molar for example. They work well in these situations.
I think EL3C is out of stock because I bought them all :)

@@OnlineExodontia thank you for your response. It's just that I've heard different things about luxators vs elevators. Like I've heard and read that a luxator has a thinner, sharper tip than a regular elevator and should only be used to wedge the tooth and break the PDL, but not to elevate it,otherwise the thin tip could break. So your video was the first one where I heard that you can use luxating elevator as both a luxator and regular elevator, and can even replace the 301 elevator. So, I was wondering whether an elevator and luxator are interchangeable
@@alvinanthel2757 Technically you're correct. There is a difference between a luxator and an elevator. Luxators do have thinner tips and I am guilty of chipping the odd one while elevating, however, for the most part they are strong enough to elevate and be used to work them down the PDL space. So, in your experience, would you say that the specific luxator that you mentioned in the video, has worked well for you as both a luxator and elevator? I'm honestly trying to find one that is the best for using as both, luxation and elevation. Like which one has the best combination of thin, sharp, but still very strong?
@@alvinanthel2757 It's awesome. It's my primary instrument. I like it because I can use it to elevate teeth and if / when they break, it can still be used around root tips. It's a great instrument. All the best!

I assume you mean a hands-on course however, which is good, but in reality you need to know how to manage the complications that will inevitably arise and you won't get a comprehensive review of this from a hands-on course. Once you know the tools, techniques, and how to handle the issues that arise, the feel and confidence will come along for you.
