I just had 3 teeth pulled yesterday. One was a wisdom tooth. All on the same side on the top. My dentist got some good use out of his forceps. He said I have strong bones. That it's good for me, but not for him. 😅 He was really straining to get one out. And he's a big guy. He said it would feel like I was punched in the jaw. He was not wrong! 🤕

How does the dentist decide with a full mouth extraction which teeth to remove first do they. usually do the front / or back first / top or bottom in general

I usually start on the lower teeth in the back, then work towards the front. Then the uppers starting in the back working towards the front.

Hi I thought it would be the opposite since the front teeth are smaller and easier to remove / once the front teeth are removed wouldn't that give more room in the mouth to extract larger molars which may be more difficult /Does it depend on personal comfort preference of the dentist

It depends on personal preference. I prefer to remove the back teeth first, then any bleeding from the sockets doesn't impede my vision as much.

@@hyaaclea6008 to sum up what the doctor said, many factors come into mind when starting with posterior teeth:
      1. Easier to remove the furthermost teeth when you have one preceding to use as a wedge when mobilizing it out of socket.
      2. Blood from the anterior teeth will hinder vision of the posterior ones if you start with them.
      3. You can remove the nearest teeth quicker and without waiting for the farthest ones to heal because you will not hurt their healing gums.
      4. For esthetic considerations, it is better to start with the posterior ones if you don't plan on removing teeth in a single visit (you rarely remove all teeth in a single visit)
      5. When you remove stuborn molars you always wish you'd had good anterior ones to hold on to when applying force with forceps or whatever other instrument.

Front teeth are usually easier to remove due to the shape of their roots. Thank you very much for watching and let me know how your denture turns out.

At 4 years old my mom and auntie sat on my to get a tooth pulled I went with sedation at the hospital to get tell pulled then last tooth I didn’t like the feeling of going under and the lady dentist I trusted her and step by step she explained from elevator to it’s out actually went faster and smoother then been put to sleep.

I got my bottom right molar pulled 3 days ago, still in pain but my dentist struggled to get it out and went through like 4 or 5 different forceps in the process

Hi, that can happen. Call your dentist if the pain gets worse.

how much force is enough force during extraction while using forceps? I mean before we use the forceps, we should minimize the tooth resistane to apply as low force as possible by forceps.

Hi, I usually try to get the tooth moving by using an elevator, proximator, or luxator first. Once it's moving and I can't get it out, I will use a forcep. As to how much pressure to use, you need to develop a feel for it and it depends on the tooth. Sometimes I don't want to break the tooth so I will section the tooth with a handpiece. Other times, like for a lower molar, I'm okay with splitting the tooth with a pair of cowhorns.

I can't think of how to word this ... i had an extraction ... now i have a piece of my bone sticking out? ... so my Question is ... when i had the first 19 teeth removed was the dentist already drill bone and stuff to begin with? Or am i in for a wilder ride ?

Hi, was the extraction recent? If so it's normal for little pieces of bone to work themselves out of the extraction site as it heals. They're called "bone spicules".

While having all uppers and a few lowers removed last week I didn’t feel anything except pressure. I had no pain whatsoever and I DEFINITELY opted for benzodiazepine sedation so I didn’t care at all that people were using tools in my mouth. Weirdly I was quite content with the situation.
The bleeding was absolutely ridiculous for the rest of the day though. It was like I had a clotting disorder and used blood thinners.
In my traumatized daze apparently my instincts kicked in because I had ripped open my field first aid kit and when I woke up I had gauze, pressure tape, and absorbing powder all over my neck lol. My fiancé didn’t find it as funny as I did however.

I’m really worried because I’m going to get 2 teeth pulled out, how does it feel like??

Hi, the teeth are numbed for the procedure. You will feel pressure during the procedure but it shouldn't hurt.

    • @gaynor1721

Your gums are numbed and they wiggle the tooth to loosen it. It doesn't hurt. Try not to worry. I've had it done twice.

I just had a wisdom tooth removed...
For all of our medical advancements... dentistry is still pretty damn medieval, lol...

    • @VeryNiceSmileDental
      @VeryNiceSmileDental  2 роки тому +6

I thought the same thing the first time I watched an orthopedic surgeon replace a knee. I thought I was watching a carpenter at work.

@Very Nice Smile Dental I hold dentists to a much higher respect after my extraction. You are trying to keep an awake patient comfortable while digging a wisdom tooth out with a glorified garden spade.
Not only is it impressive you can make it as comfortable as possible, but it genuinely takes some testicular fortitude to not mind physicality prying something out of someone's jawbone.
I'm not sure I'd have the nerves for it, lol.
