An excellent and well narrated documentary. Not detailed enough to confuse the average person, yet broader in interpretation than far too many other works. A very good balance. 👍
I was deployed to a base right next to thre ziggurat of Ur. I was lucky enough to be able to go on a rare tour of the area. There is a very unique feel to the place, you can look down these shoots that lead somewhere nobody has seen, it's amazing.
You really blew me away with your narration of the Sumarians and Akkadeans. Fantastic to watch, thank you. A complete search of this marvellous people and their culture, knowledge and architecture.
This is why I’m grateful for UA-cam. People can make their passions public and not worry about sponsorships or ratings. Since you can basically watch this whenever you can see how many people truly enjoy history. Guys like you and Cy really show through your videos how much you love history.
I'd agree but youtube has taken most ad revenue from creators since 2016 so without patreon they cannot survive financially anymore. But yes youtube used to be a great place for people to pursue their passion very true
As a professional Cameraman myself , I congratulate you on the production quality of your programmes. Content is well researched, music is in the background (bed) rather than in the foreground so we can hear every single bit of your narration. My only advice certainly no criticism, would be to get a gimbal for the camera for the close ups in museums etc or use a DJI Ronin, RemovuK1 gimbal with 4k camera as it’s very difficult to hold any camera for a while without sticks. Most museums wouldn’t allow us to use sticks due to the H&S but one of those pocket gimbal cameras are around £200 or less I think it would be a great investment. Some professional Broadcasters could learn from your example 😎
The way you narrate your videos is captivating, it makes the stories come alive. I wish my history teachers when I was in school would have taught the way you tell these stories! Good job Pete!👍

The Sumerians were beautiful artisans! I’ve seen Queen Puabi’s artifacts at an exhibit in the Penn Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and they really stuck with me. Before you said Puabi’s name, I already felt the footage you were showing looked familiar. That doesn’t happen to me too often with historical societies (and I go to a lot of anthropological museums), really a testament to how strong of an impression seeing their crafts will leave on you! I really recommend anyone who is able to, go visit the Penn Museum. The exhibit on Queen Puabi and her people is pretty extensive! The jewelry especially is so ornate and finely smithed, it’s amazing to think how long ago people were already incredibly skilled in making beautiful things.
Sumer is not a city in history it is only Assyria Babylon Akkad Chaldea these r the original ppl of the whole land and empires in these days. Fallen angels hav come 2 the region and claimed it as sumer. Assyrian saying this
Very well done! I can appreciate all the hard work that must have gone into researching, gathering and stitching the material. Kudos to you! Thank you for this wonderful piece of history.

There are already some older videos about Mesopotamia on this channel; about Lugal-Zage-Si, the Neo-Sumerian Empire, Zimri Lim, Hammurabi & the first Babylonian Empire, even one about Sargon. Although these videos are much shorter than the newer ones.

41:42 It's really interesting to see that Ishtar was his patron goddess because in mythology Ishtar takes the Eanna temple and the city of Uruk from Anu signifying the change of power from a god of an older generation to a new generation goddess. Ishtar's myths definitely reflect Sargon's control of Sumer and his reign only cemented her worship throughout Mesopotamia as ''Queen of Heaven".
There is only 1 God. He is Lord. The same Lord who is Messiah is God and His Holy spirit. The God of Jacob is the God of Israel. He said Israel would regather back to Israel in the latter days. That is exactly what happened. Thats why the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob is my Lord AND God.

I thoroughly enjoyed the background music selections; they add such depth and emotion to the narrative. Your attention to detail and storytelling prowess truly shine through, making the entire experience incredibly enjoyable. Thank you for your outstanding work!
Easily worth watching multiple times. Thank you for encapsulating the cultures leading up to Abraham (Brahman), a greatly misunderstood mythical archetype bringing forth the ancient magic of the Sumerians to the modern day.
This is a fabulous video. I could not stop watching it. You really made this interesting and clarified a lot about this important history of the beginnings of empires vs city states. I really appreciate your use of maps to show the locations of all of these places in relationship to each other and the big rivers. I LOVED seeing all of the relics of the time. Great work! I enjoyed this all the way to the end, and towards the end as you highlighted so many additional events it added that thirst for discovery of so much more history.
Thank you for this! I’m doing research about my ancestors;I found out it is believed that Akans from Ghana, West Africa are to have origins in the Middle East as the Akkadian people of Babylon. So I’m really grateful to have found this video!

I am very proud to be from Mesopotamia, thank you very much for making this special video through which millions of people have become aware of the greatness of Mesopotamia, the most important civilization in history
Others here may have more knowledge of this period of time, but I understood that Gilgamesh was an actual historical figure, a king of Uruk sometime during the period of 2800 - 2500 BC, and I think the oldest stories of him were written in Akkadian. It seems he would have been included in an entire history of the Akkadians, so I wondered why he wasn't included, or if I just missed it. There was so much great information here I could have missed it.
Thanks for sharing. Many long hours of ancient History research just for us to enjoy. It was with heart felt gratitude that your work is highly appreciated from Canada.
What a professional and informative video. I really love these, learning about the great civilizations of the past. There's so much we are yet to learn..
Thanks, Pete! As always, a masterpiece of research. detail, and storytelling. When I was in school, I HATED history. It was just memorizing meaningless places and dates. You have ignited a fascination and reverence I didn't think possible. Thank you, Sir!
Another absolute belter. Ancient history is almost limitless in the stories, journeys and tales it can tell us of. The ultimate adventure! This channel "fall of civilisations", "history with cy" and "world of antiquity" my faves at the moment (WOA is great at tackling the fanciful ancient aliens/pre-flood civilisations type of stuff if you ever need some back-up when debunking these these things). Yeah, we've got some good history channels here these days, plenty to feed an enquiring mind. :)
Oh, yes, I love World of Antiquity! He has a great voice as well as a great grasp of what it takes to expand our knowledge without being confusing or overwhelming. 😁 I'll have to look up the others, too. Thanks!

I agree with previous positive comments - very high quality history/archaeology video - amazing that you do this all on your own. You have a lovely voice and style of narration. My only request would be to lower the volume on the music. I had to keep turning the volume down for the music and up for your narration. Other than that, well done!
Such an epic documentary! Videos like this have replaced what the history channel used to provide for me before it became reality TV and Bigfoot. These are actually higher quality than their old documentaries as well.
I love your videos. I’m a college student who is planning to minor in History and I’ve always had a thing for ancient times, I really find your content enjoyable, thank you for your hard work!
You will not find any history professor who knows anything about ancient Mesopotamia, unless you can go to Yale or Harvard. The others are just gender study departments.

Really enjoying your content, especially as I can't afford pay tv or streaming sites. Currently distracting myself from physical pain, depression and anxiety by learning something new. Really appreciate it!
The music you choose and the way that your music is edited with the footage/voice over is exactly like early-2000's Discovery Channel content and it's great
Thanks for a great presentation of interesting history. The Code of Hammurabi was not the oldest legal code (as indicated around 20:00). It dates around 1750 BCE. Code of Urukagina (around 2370 BCE), the Code of Ur-Nammu (around 2050 BCE), the Laws of Eshnunna (About 1930 BCE) are much older, and I believe there are clear trails of influence between them. It also seems Hammurabi's code is relatively regressive compared with some older codes, with a stronger emphasis on punishment where some of the earlier codes like that of Ur-Nammu that emphasised recompense for harm relatively more. The Babylonian law seems more inequitable as well. The Code of Hammurabi is probably remembered more because it is by far the best preserved and hence the code for which we have the most complete accounts today.

I've only just found your channel after a recommendation from an online friend... amazing insights, well made and very informative. Thank you for all your hard work. I shall be binge watching more of your work over the coming months! Really glad to have your channel. 😊

2.300-2.193 BC: the akkadic reign with Sargon and his successors, Rimush, Manishtushu, Naram Sin and Shar Kalishami. Not too long lasting.
Your narration has vastly improved over the years, sir 🕊 This was a most interesting foray into the past, thank you 🙏
As a professional Cameraman myself , I congratulate you on the production quality of your programmes.
Much appreciated to have this Akkadian/Sumerian-focused historical overview of the cradle of our modern civilization.

Great documentary on a distant, fascinating period. Land, wealth and power, the more time passes, the more things stay the same.

I've been waiting for Mesopotamia to be covered from this amazing channel! I'm so excited for this distraction from the world outside!
There are already some older videos about Mesopotamia on this channel; about Lugal-Zage-Si, the Neo-Sumerian Empire, Zimri Lim, Hammurabi & the first Babylonian Empire, even one about Sargon. Although these videos are much shorter than the newer ones.
Now this is my kind of history documentary! I loved the vast amount of information and the fact that ancient city names and people's names are pronounced correctly. As a presenter for documentaries this gentleman is far and away one of the best. I'm a fan. Remarkably well done sir. I love your channel

Keep in mind the "Standards of Science and Research" prohibits using a Theory as Fact. "Mainstream Academics/Archaeologists" ignore this, the Wisdom of past Scholars, whom also realized that Academics were responsible for establishing a habit of being "Conscious in Thought" + "Applying Higher Mind"
All negative thought energies are housed in the "Lower Mind, aka Ego Mind, aka Adolescent Mind", ("fears, prejudices, Judgemental, jealousy, envy, insecurities, and the lack of self worth, self confidence, self esteem, etc.")
The Higher Mind aka Mature Mind is where all Positive Thought Energies and Wisdom reside.
Dig deep in the earlier books of History, for the "Mainstream Influence" took hold in the 1930's.
"Authentic Academics" adhere to the "Standards of Science and Research" which prohibits using a Theory as Fact.

It's really interesting to see that Ishtar was his patron goddess because in mythology Ishtar takes the Eanna temple and the city of Uruk from Anu signifying the change of power from a god of an older generation to a new generation goddess.

Thank you for this! I’m doing research about my ancestors;I found out it is believed that Akans from Ghana, West Africa are to have origins in the Middle East as the Akkadian people of Babylon. So I’m really grateful to have found this video!
These histories show a lesson that todays leaders have not yet learned. Greed arrogance and quest for greater power always bring an end to ones rule.
Nothing has been changed since then, no evidence of the evolution.

I think Gil was from the earlier Sumerian's, a King and is part of the original Flood legend

The oldest legal code was the Commandment “be fruitful and multiply”. Akkadians are post flood.
