8:48 was a jaw dropping moment. Absolutely epic
GTS is the benchmark I think. One can argue they get pieces of their favorite BT trace flavors in the various other products, however GTS is the one that brings it all together. Although i agree GTS that should be exactly $300 if you've never tried and just $200 if you have, and still this being two years later.
So tough to stay objective with this bottle. It's incredible and everyone that likes bourbon should have a glass
Great, funny review. I pay 350 for my first bottle in 2017. Worth ever penny. I have about a third left. Probably not able to buy another one. I wish I would have bought tons of bottles when you were able to buy in the secondary market for 300. Those days long gone. Cheers

I need to disagree on the value scores. 1 out of 5 from all three. At MSRP this is an absolutely amazing value buy. So basically this missed scoring a Diamond because of artificial outside factors (secondary market). I don't think that is fair.

Fun video! I didnt get Stagg but did land the Handy this year which is supposedly very good. Funny you mention the Oak, I felt despite the low proof the oak was high even last year, when for the first time the 4RLE tasted better to me. Hope to get one or a taste from a friend for the 2020 down the road. Cheers!

You need to bring back the "Fanboy Alert" from the guild. Wish that I could taste along with you on this Bourbon, but the cheapest that I saw it online was for $899 which is beyond my budget. Though I am glad to see that the hype matches the quality because an 89 from you guys is high praise for a spirit. I am looking forward to the breakdown video.

It's usually a group effort, but Jules sometimes spends more time hunting for pink lemonade!

Fingers crossed my name is pulled early tomorrow before somebody (Mr. Dillon) snags this one in a local raffle. Have never found a BTAC yet and this would be a nice one to finally have to savor. There are some Pappy and Weller bottles that could distract people along with a lot of other BT and Heaven Hill options!

did you buy any of K&L's store pick Tom's Foolery bourbon ? it's 7 year and 11 months and about 110 proof for $54.99. very hard to get rare stuff outside of Ohio. it's made with Michters old potstills from decades ago. I would jump on a couple bottles while you can

An 85 score is an absolute joke, I'm with Mr. Dillon! This should easily be in the 90's
On the one hand, I respect the kind of detail that Dillon goes into, especially since the best I can usually do is "smoky" or "nutty" or "herbal". On the other hand, when he says things like "New York rooftop honey", I can't help but roll my eyes, and I have to fight the instinct to ignore everything else he says.
CLEARLY he has a much better and more refined nose and palate than I do, and probably ever will have, but to describe a taste in a whiskey with that level of detail and specificity is totally unrelatable to me.
That's not how it works. Basically tasting notes are more like word association. What do you think of when you taste/smell the spirit? What does it remind you of? It does not mean that it taste or smells exactly like the descriptors used.
@@steveno7058 I just finished watching the scoring breakdown, and the "New York rooftop honey" came up there. Between what you said and what they discussed there, it makes a lot more sense now. I still have never gotten anything that specific, but at least now I can see why someone else might.

Funny enough coming back to these now, I completely agree with you guys I would be willing to pay much more for foursquare 2008 and would NEVER pay more than MSRP for any BTAC

Bahahaha $200 max, I have never seen a GTS under $900-1K in FL. I picked the worst time ever to get into Whiskey and especially bourbon.
Actually quite the opposite...Stagg is HIGHLY overrated and in fact I as well as many others prefer Woodford Reserve batch proof and Rare Breed much better....It is a great time as more distilleries are getting creative and there are more options now than 20 years ago

Well. I picked up a Stagg 2020 for retail today on the Va drop. I waited for 6hrs. Don’t regret it at all!
