- Jaby and Kristen react to Pitch Perfect, a musical comedy film directed by Jason Moore (Sisters, Avenue Q, Dumplin'). The story revolves around Beca Mitchell, played by Anna Kendrick (Up in the Air, Into the Woods, A Simple Favor), a college freshman who joins an a cappella group called the Barden Bellas. Alongside her fellow singers, including Chloe Beale, played by Brittany Snow (Hairspray, John Tucker Must Die, Prom Night), and Fat Amy, played by Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids, Isn't It Romantic, The Hustle), Beca navigates the challenges of competitive a cappella while forming lasting friendships.
The film is directed by Jason Moore (Sisters, Avenue Q, Dumplin'), and also stars Skylar Astin (21 & Over, Ground Floor, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist), Adam DeVine (Workaholics, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, The Intern), and Anna Camp (True Blood, The Help, Good Girls Revolt).

That was the one annoying thing about the vid!! They didn't know who Ben Platt was!!! They were just "like he's great." And I was saying "oh course he is, he's Ben Platt!!!!!!!!!!"

I liked that they didn’t know though, because back then he hadn’t broken out yet, so it felt like how most people reacted when the movie first came out.

I mean that was literally 12 years ago it's easy to forget.
The cup scene was from the internet first, then I believe the movie took it from there.

Becca and Chloe in the shower, seems like the beginning of a "certain type of scene"... But truly the beginning of one of the most renowned examples of gay baiting. Bechloe us by far the most shipped relationship of the series, the actresses wanted them to be endgame, Anna Kendrick talked about it publicly multiple times. But the studio wouldn't allow it. Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow shot a surprise kiss hoping it would at least be in the bloopers but it wasn't, there's a grainy leaked version out there but that's it.
Lilly's entire character is predicated on the fact that everything she says is disturbing, which is why she speaks so quietly. It was done both as a way to bypass censors and to allow some really dark statements while still making them humorous.

Ester Dean, is an actual music writer and wrote so many amazing songs. She wrote a lot of songs for Rihanna too. Including S&M

Jaby...You ain't wrong! This film, with the others, has a definite fandom theory that Beca (Anna Kendrick) and Chloe (Brittany Snow) are actually supposed to be together aka Bechloe. There was even some fuel to the fire when both Anna and Brittany filmed a scene in PP3 that was not used, even though Anna fought for it to be included in the DVD release. There is quite a bit of slash fiction about them out there.
Also, Benji is played by Ben Platt, who won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2016 for the musical Dear Evan Hansen. It had a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who also worked on the musical films La La Land and The Greatest Showman. Platt reprised his role in the film of Dear Evan Hansen, even though he was thought to have been too old to do the role on film, and the film was not well received. When Platt won the Tony, he was the youngest performer to win that award at the time.
Surprised you didn’t also mention Jesse is Skylar Astin. On TV he eventually starred in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, but he’s originally famous as part of the original cast of Spring Awakening, along with Jonathan Groff, Lea Michelle, etc. He’s now married to Anna Camp, (Aubrey.)

The character Lily is one to pay attention to when she talks quietly. She is saying the most out of pocket out of this world things, but you would only know if you’re really listening or have closed captions on.

Boone‘s Farm was a very cheap wine ($1) that came in two flavors that I remember : Strawberry Hill (strawberry flavor) and Annie Green Springs (apple flavor). They may have made a blackberry flavor as well. But this was back in 1973. I kinda remember some controversy about the wines having embalming fluid being used as a preservative. So new drinkers would try Boone‘s Farm as it was kinda sweet, unlike beer or hard liquor. And if they moved on to stronger wines they would try „Mad Dog 2020“ which was another cheap wine bottled by Morgen David. Cheers

OMG The Cup song, like singing it while playing the cups, this trend was EVERYWHERE when the movie came out. Even I learned it loll It's pretty much just learning the cups first and building up muscle memory

when i first watched this ages ago i never noticed the actor for charles boyle in b99 lol. now that i see him (20:19), it doesn't even surprise me. that'd be a boyle thing to do. 😂 kristen laughing around 24:40 had me thinking she was adorable. that full body genuine laughter was wholesome and cute. 🩷

BRUH...Jaby...I was the same way. I had ZERO want to watch this movie. The only reason I did was because my Apartment was being fumigated and I needed something to do. So I saw Pitch Perfect and I was So Glad I Did! Haha! I love this movie! It's so fun. Even after seeing this movie so many times, I still couldn't help but sing along even thru this reaction. Boone's Farm was a cheap, fruit-flavored party wine sold in the 80's and 90's. Not sure if it still exists, but it was a favorite of college girls in those decades.

UTK, who was the Indian Guy on the TrebleTones, was also a member of Freestyle Love Supreme, the improv hip hop group founded by Lin-Manuel Miranda and also included Lin-Manuel’s “Hamilton” co-stars Daveed Diggs and Christopher Jackson, so this role was pretty much tailor-made for him, I think!
And yes, as someone else mentioned, the blood of the sisters that the Bellas had to drink was Boones Farm, a cheap fruit flavored wine that was a staple of college parties in the 80’s and 90’s - effective and VERY affordable 😂🤣

The boys "secret weapon" at the end, the nerdy Star Wars guy, was played by Ben Platt, so you know he was going to sing something great at some point. He only was the star of DEAR EVAN HANSON on Broadway!
Pssst… Hansen* and actually this movie pre-dates that. Although his broadway debut was as an Elder Cunningham replacement in Book of Mormon.
