  • Training at the highest level day after day is difficult, staying healthy and recovered is even harder. But Xendurance makes it all that much easier.
    From hydration, to protein and daily immune boost it is something I can't go without.

    Get a look into my last miler workout before the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. My first round race is July 31st, and the days, runs, and workouts are coming to the end. This workout was really focused on the second half of each rep, negative splitting each one.
    Workout:
    3x1000m
    500, 400, 300 x 2
    Also shout-out Tino for the pacing! He was tasked with 37.5 for a 250, and hit 37.7! I gave him a signed bib from Gateshead as a thank you for the help, and wish him and the all the Medina High School distance guys and gals best of luck this upcoming fall!

    One thing I find interesting about his track workouts are that the times are never extremely fast(this is a comment to people who run/ran track and understand what I’m saying.)

    I was thinking “that has to be the smoothest 2:50 1k I have ever seen.” Then I remembered that kipchoge did that for 42k in a row with no break…

    what is/should an elite 800m runner be able to run in a fly 100m?
    I really think that max velocity is the most important factor from 200-800 and still important in the 1500. I think endurance won't help if the speed isn't there.
    I guess a sub 1:50 800m runner should run a s ub 11s flying 100m with ease. would you agree?

    As someone whose track days have been kind of stale recently with tons of 800 goal pace repeats, I can’t wait to get out on the track tomorrow morning and give this one a shot! I would really like to know what kind of recovery between sets are prescribed here.
    Regardless, I have really enjoyed this workout series and I’ll be cheering you on during Tokyo as a new fan!

      @bigboy8474 3 роки тому

      Well it seems that hes doing this as a pre race workout, so id guess hes doing 60-90 seconds but for him this is running a relatively easy pace, so i would think 2-3 minutes would be more appropriate

    • @brandonk7361
      @brandonk7361 3 роки тому

      @@bigboy8474 That feels about right. I’m on week 7 of an 18 week half marathon program (just for a reason to run) and I did it with 3 minutes between the 1000s and 60 seconds between the other legs this morning. It was a fun one that I’ll definitely be doing again.

    • @benanastasoff8980
      @benanastasoff8980 3 роки тому

      @@bigboy8474 3 minutes is probably too long. The 1000s I’d guess were Clayton’s tempo pace, so all you’d really need to recover in between would be like 200m jogging. 3 minutes would be if you were running nearly all out for each K

    Hi Clayton -thanks for the awesome video and insight into your training leading into the games . . . I’m curious about the decision to fly home and then fly back over to Tokyo. would that be more fatiguing than just staying over in Europe and hitting workouts there and then flying to Tokyo? Best of luck and have a great time at the games!!

    Amazing to watch, almost mere mortal times on the reps, but its not about digging a grave every and each time but to plant the trees with frequency... Go give Ingebritsens and Katars run for their money! :) WIll be very exciting racing in Tokyo! Stay safe and race smart and hard!

      in that note, how often you might do max/"failure workouts" on intervals... I train for 4,5-10hr events in triathlon and i dont touch them, my hardest workouts are 9/10 with atleast one rep in the tank on those.. Or do you race so often you really dont need to do them on workouts?
