USA OLYMPIC TRIALS Preparation | 800m pace for 2 MILES !

- Take an inside look into one of my last key 800m workouts prior to the 2021 USATF Olympic Trails. Taking on around 2 miles worth of work at 800 pace, it was far from an easy day on the oval!
Workout:
3 Mile Jog
1000m/600m/600m (Warm Ups)
500m/400m/250m x2
400m/300m/200m
2 Mile Jog
*Rest was cut down throughout workout

Training at the highest level day after day is difficult, staying healthy and recovered is even harder. But Xendurance makes it all that much easier.
From hydration, to protein and daily immune boost it is something I can't go without.

I find that there are plenty of distance runners and some sprinters on yt, so it's great to see a true mid distance runner, let alone one of the best in the world 🔥
Nick Symmonds??
@@ericramos1916 That’s not washed up yet LOL
@@ericramos1916 yeah I watch symonds also
@@kosukemedia lolllll
@@kosukemedia I mean washed up seems negative lmao. He’s not in the same shape, but I’d say his mentality is still very similar if that makes sense.
Kinda fun when you realize you live 5 minutes from where this guy trains lol
It’s really great that you allow the public to see how you train and work towards the your Olympic goals.
If my coach challenged me to run 3:00 I think it would be for a different reason.
Dope content and editing. I appreciate the perspective, thanks.
I'm pretty sure that "dope" is not a word that Clayton likes to see here.
@@St.IrenaeusOfLyons why’s that?
@@triniboy05 Because there is lots of doping - use of prohibited substances, for example - in sport.
Absolutely loving this videos
Sheesh Clayton! Good job and good luck at the trials! Loving the content as always!
Good luck at Eugene!!
US 800m Olympic Trials champ! Good luck at the Olympics, Clayton!!!
Love these videos keep it up !! ❤️
It's nice to see some mid distance content... huge fan , keep the dope videos coming...
I'm pretty sure that "dope" is not a word that Clayton likes to see here.
Great video! All the best
Cool footage , that workout is fast 🏎🏎
Kinda felt cheated that he didn’t run 2 straight miles at 800 race pace
Sounds like one of my hard workouts where I do 3x5k repeats at mile race pace.
@@holzkiewuf Doesn’t compare to my 8xmarathon at 400 pace.
@@drew6927 weak, i do 10x50 mile at 200 meter race pace
@@drew6927 Damn that does sound tough. To be honest that sounds like a really good post-race workout to do during a 10k.
I felt cheated too, but then I realised I deserve to feel cheated for being dumb enough to even believe the title 1%.
That was cool. My calf cramped up watching it.
Great content 🔥 Keep it up!
Awesome to be able to see some of the training regeme for an Olympic runner...esp for a high school mid distance kid
Thank you.
You're such a hard worker good luck in Eugene! 😄
Hi Clayton, thank you for posting your videos. This is the second video of yours I watched, the first was your comeback race in Puerto Rico where you won the 800.
I am not a track athlete, but my wife and I do track and hill workouts on a weekly basis, and I really enjoy watching track and field events.
For someone like myself, I would have liked to see/hear more of an explanation of what you were actually doing in this video. You stated you were doing the 500, 400, 300 and 250 runs, and also mentioned you and your coach had a bet on your pacing. But after that, it was footage of your runs and times (splits?) without any explanation of what you were doing or trying to accomplish with this workout.
Again, thank you very much for posting, and I'm just a fan that is into track that would love to know more. Especially from one of the best in the world.
Happy I found you kinda early
Good paces
What was your rest for those intervals?
He ran his 1,000 5 seconds under the target pace, which is good, but his coach said it had to be within 1 second of 3:00 to get a sundae, so nobody buys anybody a sundae. He still killed the workout.
I run where you were warming up all the time
what shoes are those ? looks like an air zoom victory but the swoosh is white ?
man that lactic was showin
How long is time ricovery between each sets and reps?
How much rest are you getting in between each rep?
What are the band warm ups that you do ?
Leg activation
Him saying it’s too slow to run 72s when that’s fasesr than my mile pace
Was your rest between reps 3-4 min ??
Rest~?
