Watching 4 years after it was originally loaded. Great info on beard care. I realize now that the rubber bands I've been using are ruining my beard. Thanks so much.
I printed one myself a while ago. Don't quite have the volume to hold it in place, so I'd put a rubber band under to thicken it up and add some friction. I also designed (based on something I saw for sale) a threader that should make it easier to put the beads on. Similar to a needle threading tool.
I've gotten a lot of useful info from your videos so thought I'd offer my solution to keeping my beard tidy, I use flesh tunnels made for stretched lobes as beard rings, these can be found in a huge variety of sizes and materials, glass, stone or stainless steel are a good weight and nice and smooth so they dont damage the hair, I hope this is helpful!cheers and keep on bearding👍
What a useful video! My beard is (only) 9 months old... but already I need to manage it at times - and hey, a tied-up beard looks cool... Thank you so much from the UK!! ❤😊
Something often overlooked. Go to a hardware store. Buy standard zinc nuts. Run a drill through the center to get rid of the threads.... Hex Beard ring.
With a short string or cordage, make a scaffold knot - or the other knot that has less turns as what is often depicted as scaffold but may have another proper name - with a loop in it, so the ends are going in the same direction. One end should be a lot shorter when the loops is wide open, then insert a twisted beard in the loop and tighten down with that short end so that the two ends are near the same length.
I can't thank you enough for your insight, wisdom, and direction. You are truly my mentor when it comes to all things "beard". I just ordered the Np2 beard balm and No2 beard oil from the Scottish Beard Company.
I used to use those black rubber bands in my beard and one thing to keep in mind is that jojoba oil eats the material (I think they are actually silicone instead of rubber). So if you use jojoba in the hair the bands will just fall apart, especially for noobs like me who would overuse the oil.
Michael Mcdonnell yeah it sucks. I was really enjoying it. I was good at room trimming the sides and blending it up. But once I tried to trim the length on my chin I botched it all up and it was gone. You've done it too? what happened with you?
YOBABYBUBBA Symmetry was my thing! I'd get one side nice then botch up the other side. No trimming for 4 months.Still not symmetrical but growing as nature intended!
My beard is very full at just over a foot from the bottom lip. Most guys I see giving tips at this length (and beyond) have very thin, scraggly breads and the tips they give look unattractive or don’t work for fuller beards. I love these practical and tasteful ideas for the man that’s blessed with a full thick beard. Thank you!
Same here man I know exactly what you mean mine is very long as well (never measured it) and also very thick like can't even see through it thick I've tried a rubber band twice never good results and painful but the lady's totally dig the beard lol
Thnx for the video, I'm growing out my beard and can always use tips and tricks to maintain it and make it more straight, aspecialy when I sit on my bicycle, it's a very windy place where I live
Good vid George! My beard is getting longer now and whiter! I have been thinking about beard rings and ties then you make a video to answer my thoughts! Thanks for helping me with my big, curly and frizzy beard! I get compliments all the time, even when I think it looks terrible!
Try the silicone bands. A lot less harsh than those rubber bands. I also use a bead threader to pull the hair through the rings. You can get a pack of 3 for less than $6 online.
Ok glad I'm not the only one using Grandpa's pine tar soap to wash my beard. I only started out of not wanting to pay beard shampoo prices. But sir your beard is glorious
I have those rubber bands but i dont double tie it,only use it now as Covid rules make me wear a face mask in work and that makes my beard too tickly and goes in my mouth without the band, going to keep watching to get better tips
It would be kinda cool if someone made small rings out of steel or brass on an anvil. Of course they would have to be polished but i think that the texture of hammered metal would fit a beard nicely. I might try doing one for myself when i gow my beard a bit more.
I have been play with ring like cylinders. Just feels like it would fall out. Doesnt go anywhere but its very very loose. My beard is very similar to his...except red.
Thank you so much. Recently started growing my beard back and used to braid it, the little rubber bands destroyed it every-time. Going to try the costume ring idea.
Excellent video. So are you saying that for riding a motorcycle you have found the silk covered rubber bands to be your best option? I am trying to figure out my best beard control option for riding right now. I just picked up a pack of those bands today to try.
One sure thing to use is a food beard net also. Being a cyclist I just put one or two nets over my beard and instantly my beard is contained for cycling, or any other activity I do for fun. One great advantage is that they are very beard friendly and cost hardly anything for a pack of hundreds. After a bike ride I can just pull it off run a wide tooth comb or brush through it and you can’t hardly tell my beard was contained. Not sure how it will work at higher speeds for a motorcycle! Sorry! Hope this will help all beard lovers. Keep growing!
I've screwed up my beard so many times by using those little rubber bands, and DAMNED for sure don't use a rubber band from a newspaper. Another great video
George, I liked this. I would be very interested in seeing how to properly (key word) put in the "viking" type beads. What works, what doesn't. Do's and Don'ts. I've seen them in rasta beards...but I don't ever think those come out without scissors. I am not at a Yeard yet. Could you do a demo with beads and maybe smaller braiding since you have the perfect length beard for it? .....Just Curious.... Thank you again!
I always braid when I'm in my shop, and if I do band it's the ouchless bands and never double the bands because you're right it will damage and does hurt, even the ouchless bands..
Ok, you mentioned riding a motorcycle a few times. What are good options for keeping my long goatee tamed and out of my face while I ride? (that won't damage it anyways)
you ride??! thats awesome.. i know its not beard related but you should make a riding video.. like tips on how to put your beard when riding.. i have a long beard and have tried sooooo many ways but nothing solid enough to keep trying
I made some beard rings out of paper and Elmer's glue. Wrap it around a dowel and laminate the paper to itself with Elmer's glue. good way to experiment with the size you wamt then go get the real thing.
Been finding that over the decades where I've (stupidly) chopped it off, and then later grown it back out- the beard never quite seems to grow as long as it did the time before. So back in the day when mine was originally past the navel, now it seems to be slowing at about 2 inches shy of yours... I'm stubbornly persevering but any tips would be cool...
Love your videos! My beard is not near as long as yours. I'm looking for advice on how to control my beard on my motorcycle. Mine is thick, red, and very curly. About 7 inches. It beats the hell out of my face on the bike. Even gets under my glasses and gets in my eyes. Been using rubber bands, but that sucks. You may already have a video on this, but you've got so many I haven't found it yet. I've learned a lot about beard care from you. Thank you!
hey big fan here! i've been growing my beard, hair and mustache for the past 6ish months or more. I haven't had a haircut or beard trim either. Looking for some advice on should I trim certain areas if I am going for a yeard? I use oil, balm to keep it neat, clean and all. :) love your videos
Diggn the beard my man! Just discovered yer site today...Yours and mine look almost exactly alike in this video... Thanks for the tips! Appreciate it. I used to smoke a pipe too, at age 30 or so. Borkum Riff cherry tobacco! Its the bomb! Smells just like cherries, and tasted good!
I die laughing 😂😂😂😂 george how you dare to put the tiny rubber band, & double it, & than pull it out with that strength lol jajajajajajaja 🤣🤣🤣🤣 l just put it without twist it twice, just like that, than it came out rolling it down without breakage
Hey George could i band it up to sleep? im not as fortunate to waking up with a straight beard my beard is very coarse hair i have to wash it every morning to get it looking presentable im trying to find a method to wake up and oil it comb it and go i have not been able to wake up and go for 8 months now lol thanks
Roberto Montano Ghee helps grow hair, ghee could be applied directly to the beard/skin as well. Sesame oil would work for the beard too for heating in the winter months.
Does your beard hand low? Does it wobble to and fro? Can you tie it a knot? Can you tie it a bow? Can you throw it over your shoulder like a continental soldier? Does you beard hang low?
You wear a tie. Do you work in an office and if so, did you have the beard at that length prior to the interview or did you grow it out after you started working at where you work?
Layrite Cement Polmade is awesome for styling the stache and the beard. In moderation of course in the beard. It is great for the stach due to it washes out easily.
Hey George, this has nothing to do with this video, but I'm having a small issue with the left side under my jaw line growing as long as the right. I have coily hair so it's not very noticeable but I know it's there. Is this normal?I know your motto is time and length so I'm going to follow that
Mine used to be the same way, curly on one side and straight on the other. You can train the hair to flow down just by constantly combing it in the direction you want
Imagine your beard completely natural due to covid and a completely professional environment you're about to go back into the office with. How do you maintain that when all of the barber's locally require masks?
Was going to say when I seen the rubber bands, don't use them. I don't use rubber bands in my hair or beard, because it hurts the beard and hair. keep growing man, think if you had long hair to would be cool. what I think is so cool now when I look down I can see my beard, it almost touches my fourth button on my shirts.
My beard only gets to about 6 inches and stops after a couple of years. I have heard stories about terminal length and other saying it is BS. Interested to know what others think.
Watching 4 years after it was originally loaded. Great info on beard care. I realize now that the rubber bands I've been using are ruining my beard. Thanks so much.
I'm going to use bullet casings
spent shotgun shells. use shorty 12-gauge which are 2.5 inches long.
actually 10 gauge cut in half might even be better.
I'm going to design up some and 3d print them. I'll let you know what I come up with.
I printed one myself a while ago. Don't quite have the volume to hold it in place, so I'd put a rubber band under to thicken it up and add some friction.
I also designed (based on something I saw for sale) a threader that should make it easier to put the beads on. Similar to a needle threading tool.
How did it turn out
how did it turn out.

No problem you're right, lucky I didn't shave my beard
What a useful video! My beard is (only) 9 months old... but already I need to manage it at times - and hey, a tied-up beard looks cool... Thank you so much from the UK!! ❤😊
As a Cub Scout we made scarf/neckerchief rings for our neckerchief. We use hollow beef bones or braided leather lace.
Thanks for putting these videos together. You've answered a number of questions for me.
The Sultan of Silver! Love it!
Something often overlooked. Go to a hardware store. Buy standard zinc nuts. Run a drill through the center to get rid of the threads.... Hex Beard ring.
Thank God I found this video! I’ve been looking for beard solutions for a long time! This video is so helpful, thank you!

I’ve used a tie wrap . Adjust to the diameter you want put a drop of super glue and cut off the excess let dry over night. I’ve used bread bag twist.
I can't thank you enough for your insight, wisdom, and direction. You are truly my mentor when it comes to all things "beard". I just ordered the Np2 beard balm and No2 beard oil from the Scottish Beard Company.

thanks George, great video. I shaved my almost 6 month beard off. I messed it up when trying to trim it. I so regret it. growing it right back.
YOBABYBUBBA Sorry to hear about your mishap. I bet a lot of us have done this. I know I have!
Michael Mcdonnell yeah it sucks. I was really enjoying it. I was good at room trimming the sides and blending it up. But once I tried to trim the length on my chin I botched it all up and it was gone. You've done it too? what happened with you?

Sterling caught lol
Patience pays off and keeping up with it

I use a metal hammer akin to Thor's weapon as a beard ring it's so cool I love it.
Watching 5 years after upload. Great advice!

Check out grimfrost they have a video for beard beads
I've seen a product similar to a needle threader online somewhere. Designed one myself, too, but haven't tried it yet.
I always braid when I'm in my shop, and if I do band it's the ouchless bands and never double the bands because you're right it will damage and does hurt, even the ouchless bands..
I tried some of those things when i had a fairly long goatee...i never left the bathroom with any of it.you justified some of my creative ideas.thanks
Thabk you Sir! Sage advice for sure.
I've got a natural "Dumbledore" style beard any tips for keeping it clean and together when you're running?
Ok, you mentioned riding a motorcycle a few times. What are good options for keeping my long goatee tamed and out of my face while I ride? (that won't damage it anyways)
I can't grow a beard but love your personality. Keep it up!
Thank you ❤
Glorious beard.
you ride??! thats awesome.. i know its not beard related but you should make a riding video.. like tips on how to put your beard when riding.. i have a long beard and have tried sooooo many ways but nothing solid enough to keep trying
Magnificent beard yo!
I was watching this and it made me wish i had a leather lace with a thin metal wire in it. To twist around and keep in place but not pull hard.
I like this. Im cutting my beard. 2 years. looks just like yours. mine is red though. 40 yrs old
just what I needed, perfect timing.
I would kill to have that type of beard. !!!
Great video brother!
One day I will have a beard like yours. A beautiful master beard.
The best option is to staple the beard with the stapler. The pin can be cut with the scissors and doesn't create any tension.
I made some beard rings out of paper and Elmer's glue. Wrap it around a dowel and laminate the paper to itself with Elmer's glue. good way to experiment with the size you wamt then go get the real thing.

Use the simple hair ties that women use. Theyre the best and wont pull your hair
Great epic beard. Regrowing mine back out
Nice job!
Now that is a Beard to be feared.... Respect, And yours is longer than mine.
hey big fan here! i've been growing my beard, hair and mustache for the past 6ish months or more. I haven't had a haircut or beard trim either. Looking for some advice on should I trim certain areas if I am going for a yeard? I use oil, balm to keep it neat, clean and all. :) love your videos
The plastic drink ring idea is great!
Watching in 2023,1st time growing my goatee out, thought these rubber bands weren't helping any ;)
I die laughing 😂😂😂😂 george how you dare to put the tiny rubber band, & double it, & than pull it out with that strength lol jajajajajajaja 🤣🤣🤣🤣 l just put it without twist it twice, just like that, than it came out rolling it down without breakage
Very informative and beneficial. Great video as usual.
Great beard, Sir. What about riding your motorcycle? I rode today and used my granddaughter’s hair band. It’s an absolute mess now.
Adam Naperty thank you for that information i really appreciate your help i will start using that method tomorrow morning.

Never seen a little rubber band cause a grown man so much pain lol
Killer beard brother!!! Awesome vid. Beard on...
Each to their own but no beard adornments for me! 4 months into my yeard but keeping my moustache trimmed.
I can stare at your beard all day everyday.
So beautiful 😍
Ur beard is beautiful to brother!!
Thank you for your video. That is a beautiful beard by the way!
Hi, where did you buy the big comb? Thanks
I still need a few more inches to braid effectively yet but thx for for warning me on diff techniques lol
Stay ZEN 2Win Sir 🖖
What do you suggest for a job interview for a beard?
Short and neat
Use a 12 gage shot gun shell 👍.
You wear a tie. Do you work in an office and if so, did you have the beard at that length prior to the interview or did you grow it out after you started working at where you work?
In the video he mentions cutting hair, so I believe he'd probably wear the tie to fit in the style of the barbershop. Or he just chooses to wear one.
I'm watching this almost 4 years later.
Some very cool ideas. Thanks as always.
did I miss it... did you finally get your bike? If so, what did you get?
great idea with that corn, holy shit!
Forwarded this to my husband. He has a nice beard, but it's nowhere near as long as yours... Yet
great ideas i use dreadlock beads
bearded piper same
what about styling gel on the beard. does it hurt the beard?
Sky Masters PR beard oil to look wet and beard wax for styling
Layrite Cement Polmade is awesome for styling the stache and the beard. In moderation of course in the beard. It is great for the stach due to it washes out easily.

Same length as this video
What do you do for sleeping?
Fix it in the morning.
Nice options, thank you.
That's what I call a beard 👍👍hope he still exists after 7years😮😮
I have real beardrings. whit a 5mm hole. viking style.
and then I use silicone bands. they don't pull on your hair.
dreadlock beads work for me
I work as a machinist, I've been using rubber bands and hair pins. Do you have any alternative suggestions for beard preservation.
you didnt pull it together you pulled one bit thats why it hurt mate lol you crack me up george peace brother me n u the silver brothers
Was going to say when I seen the rubber bands, don't use them. Awesome video thank you
I only use professor fuzzworthys beard shampoo for my beard
how to get a wet look on your beard?
Ramon Aviles
Use beard oil.
Kinda makes me wanna whittle a beard ring out of a piece of deer bone or something.
I only have a small goatee, so for things like that the little twisty ties that hold bread bags closed work perfectly.
