As an example, Our tattoo healing balm is similar to our beard balm but we took out the lanolin (which is bad for tattoos) and replaced with Vitamin E (which is great for tattoos). To your point, many of these products out there are very similar to each other. But try selling beard balm to most women and they’ll just walk by. Those who pay attention have no problem buying though. Nice video.
Scuba, I want to say that I appreciate your videos, and information you provide in them. You always provide great content and you do it in way that that is super chill. Lately I’ve noticed that some of the other beard channels have become very egocentric. They provide great information, but they do it in a way that can be very off putting. Thanks for being down to earth, and keeping it all perspective.
Have just subscribed! Thank you for the content you share. I'm from Russia and quality American beard products are 70 times as expensive due to the currency rate. You inspired me! So i just went to the super maket, bought black seed oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, avocado oil, almond oil, coconut oil and made an effective blend which i enjoy. Moreover, it WORKS!
Right on, brother. I've been making my own oil, balm ,and butter, because I'm not a fan of paying a markup when it's not neccessary, but in a way feel as if I'm not contributing to the "beard community " by doing so. Unless of course the community also supports buying raw butters and oils from solid vendors to make your own (and they should) If the ingredients are the same, why not....buy beard butter, body butter, or make your own.
Templar William what community? Don’t get me wrong we all have fun talking and learning from one another etc etc. But the companies are business men like everyone else. If anything wouldn’t they be taking advantage of the beard community with 90% mark up?!?!? That’s outrageous.
Great info bro. Definitely tons of similarities. Boils down to branding and marketing. So definitely a good find. Quite similar to my beard journey in the beginning, all I used was hair products and carrier oils in general. Coconut oil, olive oil etc. so it’s not surprising to me that body butter have some of the same ingredients as beard butter. 🍻💯👊🏽
What the fricken heck is going on you beard freak! I just wanted to say I love this channel , you inspired me to start growing a beard for the first time. I love the reviews and products , I have two favorites the grave before shave cigar and vanilla balm and the Detroit corktown butter and the scotch Porter conditioner also bought some brio beardscapes. I've been growing a beard since Thanksgiving and already just from these products , I have people saying "dang nice beard" keep up the AMAZING videos and I binge watch you all day with earbuds at work. Great Work! And I dare my job to tell me to shave lmao!
Lotions are considered fluids. Check the label again and make sure it says fl oz. If it is, then because you showed the name, you've opened yourself up for ... consequences If not, then the company is making an illegal statement
I was going to say, volume vs weight isn't always the same. Especially if it is whipped butter, it will have more air incorporated into it making 8oz as light as 4oz.
man this is funny I have been coming across so many products that aren't labeled for beard care lately in my research that look like they would be great for it and just asked DanC about some oils my self. great video Scuba!
I noticed this a while back, and yes I'll totally agree. The hardest part is finding a body butter w/ healthy beard ingredients and a desirable smell. I tend to look for something unscented. Another helpful tip is to look for vegan butters. These tend to have the ingredients more easily spelled out.
LOVE this video. Competition in the marketplace is HEALTHY for all parties. Not hating on beard companies but it’s about time this bubble burst a bit as I have thought their prices are a bit crazy for the actual products they are selling.
I’m glad beard companies are hustling and grinding but their margins are insane. One of the most well known and largest companies admitted to margins of over 90% on their products. Think about that folks...you don’t need to be a math genius or a business MBA to figure that out. If people are willing to spend those dollars then great for the companies, but well educated customers is where it’s at. Hold the market and vendors accountable...no reason to be paying as much of your hard earned money as you are.
MiLK SOP does that make him a moron??? Or he simply didn’t know that fact. I don’t know everything in the world, and neither do you. I’ll never understand the need that some have to talk smack to another brother.
the "Soap Exchange" you have linked as Sandalwood Vanilla scent has several manly scents like Barbershop , lumberjack, Bay Rum etc along with unscented and several more neutral scents. They also have shave oil, beard oil, and shave soap listed on their amazon page. Looks good i'm going to buy some and try it out.
I had a hunch that there were products in the female line of products that was very close if not the same. thanks for the info. I'm guessing just due to the sents and not knowing where to look in the female isles lol most guys won't go to the cheaper products. great info thanks!
Volume dictates price as well. Some companies making thousands of one product can afford to offer a lower price. Those making much much less can not. It’s fairly simple
Wow you just put the beard companies on high alert 😂 and I bet you see some big sales prices after this and damn I been waiting for the new Razor phone to come out and I’m gonna run stand in line at AT&T right now 😂 😂 😂 😂,awesome video brotha
When comparing these weights, I believe the whipped versions are by volume, not weight. I am a pharmacist that compounds prescriptions, i.e., creams, ointments, etc. It is misleading I know, but as the old adage says (and not trying to be a smart-*ss) “read the fine print”. GREAT video though! I love all your videos. You have tons of great info..and you’re funnier than hell! Thanks 😎
Awesome video. Was looking last night for cheaper alternative for a beard co wash. Be nice to find an all natural one cheaper than 23.00 for 8oz, ouch!!!!
Nice to know , but i think at the end of the day it comes down to smell and the beard butters have a much better variety of manly scents. Keep those videos coming .
Figured this out over a year ago before the beard butter craze hit. Health food store has a butter that is all purpose with NO beeswax and a soft “neutral cacoa” scent. I spread it all over. Body head and hair, legs and feet, balls and butt. Literally slather it on every part of my body after shower daily. And of course my beard cause it’s butter!! 13 bucks for 2.3 ounces and i can go to the store and get it any day without ordering it. If I want to get a scent I take the butter and mix my beard oil with it and it works just fine. If I had not found this and figured it out based on Ingredients i for sure would have already spent 300 bucks on “beard” butter trying to find the perfect one for me. I haven’t even had the need to go to a woman’s Beauty store to try and find others.
Thanks for the video. The butters are measured in volume, not weight. But, if a large one weighs less or about the same as a small one, it has more air whipped into it. So, you’re paying for air.
Great video. Volume vs weight is what your finding there. Also add in a whipped butter essentially aerated would contain less product then a pour butter in both weight and volume. Your dead on those same same for ingredients, I think the edge goes to beard butter because of scent variations for men. For your penny pincher, excellent idea on amazon.
Scmkuba I got a 12 oz for 9 dollars and u are right it has what my beard butter didn't have like pumpkin seed and black seed oil so I been using it for 3 weeks . It works for me!👍
Thats why a company like Shea Moisture is able to sell the beard products cheaper than most, because all the lines for natural hair, they have a huge following and the benefits of a big company and therefore materials are bound to be cheaper, the beard companies that are big, leave the prices higher since the market decides on it, I've been on this for a while, thanks for sharing.
The only thing I'd be concerned about is the amount of essential/fragrance on body butter. It may be more than beard butter and could be a concern for some. If the amount is the same as beard butter then I don't see a problem with using body butter.
I use neutral or unscented beard butter for my tattoos now. I couldn’t stand how Hustle Butter made me smell like a tropical smoothie all day so I don’t mind paying extra for the beard butter instead. I just prefer adding something to my cart while I’m already buying beard products and especially like when the ingredient list is only 5-7 ingredients long.
Hi really enjoy these videos ! Any chance of these us companies you review getting UK stockists? Really love try some of the products but with the shipping , beard butter is over 50 dollars ! There is a pretty large market over here . The only one we can really get hold of is badass ! Cheers
I have a feeling that the reason why the measurements were off has something to do with the liquid being wet or aerated because of the tiny air pockets. Same reason why a balloon seems lighter when it is inflated
I'm watching on a small black and white monitor hooked up to a huge super computer that uses vacuum tubes. Did you try the women's body butter in your beard
Hey do you think some of those butters are meaning 8oz by volume not weight? I just cant see how they can sell something that says 11oz but it's only 7oz with the container!
@BeardTube Broccoli oil, Jojoba oil, Almond Oil, Coconut oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Shea butter (Nilotica), Argan oil, Avocado oil. Baoba oil, Castor oil and last put some Arrowrot powder and whip it all together so it becomes like a cream put in the fridge and you have the best beard butter ever! and all being cold pressed + organic!
Are beard butters greasy? I use beard guys beard balm because it doesn't have greasy feeling . Somehow the thought of a butter on my face seems to bring out thoughts of massive breakouts and super greasy feeling . Lol. Thoughts?
Its not just for beards either; Im a waver also and I realized about 2 years ago that products "for wavers" are roughly more expensive versions of products for women with natural hair
Well that's where u messed up. Bought the Ulta brand on the drug store side aka mass. Go to the Prestige side n buy it. Btw- thanks for the extra knowledge

Beard companies hate this one youtuber
Stephen this news could’ve canceled millions and millions of dollars in sales through generations.
But it’s the truth though
Unicorn period blood ... now that’s a unique scent !
Bruh 😭
🤣
Awesome video man, I was lmfao the whole way through 🤣🤣🤣👍

Great video! I found this out when I was looking for recipe's to make my own beard balm, Blew. My. Freakin' mind!!

One of your best videos! Informative and hilarious!
I would assume the number of ounces is probably referring to the volume of the container and not the weight.
I agree, probably fluid ounces.
Lotions are considered fluids. Check the label again and make sure it says fl oz. If it is, then because you showed the name, you've opened yourself up for ... consequences

@@pcolasoldier31 I guess by law the products are to be sold by weight and not volume. Dan C posted a video on this subject.
Mind-blown!!! I'm calling your mom from my car phone as I finish this video. Dude...your razor phone is totally rad.
Friggen hilarious love your BRAND NEW Motorola Razor!
man this is funny I have been coming across so many products that aren't labeled for beard care lately in my research that look like they would be great for it and just asked DanC about some oils my self. great video Scuba!
Fork! Awesome video. Thanks very much for sharing this. I'm going to give this a try.

toeknee Lorenzo it depends where they ship it to and no how much it costs
BeardTude just lost all his sponsorships.
You are absolutely hilarious man I liked the smell of unicorn period blood part lol love you're content to man
the "Soap Exchange" you have linked as Sandalwood Vanilla scent has several manly scents like Barbershop , lumberjack, Bay Rum etc along with unscented and several more neutral scents. Volume dictates price as well. Some companies making thousands of one product can afford to offer a lower price. Those making much much less can not. It’s fairly simple
I think big part of it is small batches (beard companies) vs. mass production (body butters).
It's a rainy day in Florida right now perfect weather to watch one of these videos scuba how the freak are you doing
You’re the 🐐 for this 👌🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Wow you just put the beard companies on high alert 😂 and I bet you see some big sales prices after this and damn I been waiting for the new Razor phone to come out and I’m gonna run stand in line at AT&T right now 😂 😂 😂 😂,awesome video brotha

"Unicorn period blood". Quote of the day!🤛
Mate, you are a legend. Thankyou for doing this video 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Watching the on my bag phone from the car.
BOOM! What an epic comeback! Lol!
On your way to Blockbuster to rent a flick?
Nice video bro. I would like to see you try and create a fluffy beard butter like you created beard oils. Thanks bro
Clever Scuba. Very clever.
Best intro of any video ever.
Scmkuba I got a 12 oz for 9 dollars and u are right it has what my beard butter didn't have like pumpkin seed and black seed oil so I been using it for 3 weeks . It works for me!👍
I love that shirt!
Respect BT.
Fluid Ounces. You will find the same thing in beard products. Whipped butter doesn't weight as much as poured butter.
Thats why a company like Shea Moisture is able to sell the beard products cheaper than most, because all the lines for natural hair, they have a huge following and the benefits of a big company and therefore materials are bound to be cheaper, the beard companies that are big, leave the prices higher since the market decides on it, I've been on this for a while, thanks for sharing.
you can measure ounces in weight, and in volume. I don't have the jars so I can't tell if one looks like it has more product in it
Great video and useful information. You got a bike 🏍, I peeped the Indian shirt and got me thinking.
The only thing I'd be concerned about is the amount of essential/fragrance on body butter. It may be more than beard butter and could be a concern for some. If the amount is the same as beard butter then I don't see a problem with using body butter.
The weights are a volume measurement, so they won’t be the same as mass weight...
The density is what makes it heavier or lighter...
I'm buttery mess 😂 You rock, great job
Just bought the apple cinnamon and it smells amazing... Thanks
I’ve been using “griffin” tattoo balm for my beard cause it’s literally the same stuff
I will use beard butter on my skin but I will not use body butter on my beard.
if it is labeled "fl. oz." then its by volume while just "oz." is by weight so they probably meant it was an 8 fl oz container
I just looked these up for this exact reason. They're listed as oz, not fl oz
Good video. I realized that a while back when I saw a body butter video. I was like "Huh, same ingredients as beard butter, just different name"
Ah man just bought beard butter but still good to know I'm gonna look for it.
Hi really enjoy these videos ! Any chance of these us companies you review getting UK stockists? Really love try some of the products but with the shipping , beard butter is over 50 dollars ! There is a pretty large market over here . The only one we can really get hold of is badass ! Cheers

Frick yeah brother thanks for keeping us manly men updated 🤘
Wut
Can you do a complete video on beard trimming and maintenance?
Beard companies don’t want you to know: beard Oil actually was always for your beard. They say it isn’t so you will buy more product.
Interesting but I just love the "manlyness" of buying real Beard butter.
I think the ounce thing is referring to volume more than weight.
Interesting
Hah, yeah. I was thinking, is he joking? Thought it was by weight? Hmmmm someone missed a few classes.
FDA says it goes by net weight, not volume. Basically, if the label says 4oz then legally there should be 4oz of product by weight.
Nice video.
But for realz do you use a hand model for those up close shots? 😎
🤯 You the man
I'm watching on a small black and white monitor hooked up to a huge super computer that uses vacuum tubes. Did you try the women's body butter in your beard
How long you been growing that masterpiece homie?
Hey do you think some of those butters are meaning 8oz by volume not weight? I just cant see how they can sell something that says 11oz but it's only 7oz with the container!
So, would it work to double boil some unscented body butter and then add in some fragrance oil (polo red to match my cologne bath)?
The oz on those bottles is a volume not the mass oz.
@BeardTube
Broccoli oil, Jojoba oil, Almond Oil, Coconut oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Shea butter (Nilotica), Argan oil, Avocado oil. Baoba oil, Castor oil and last put some Arrowrot powder and whip it all together so it becomes like a cream put in the fridge and you have the best beard butter ever! and all being cold pressed + organic!

The new Razr is Verizon exclusive mate. It’s the most beautiful phone right now, but it’s not the greatest phone out right now.
Its not just for beards either; Im a waver also and I realized about 2 years ago that products "for wavers" are roughly more expensive versions of products for women with natural hair
The company making the Sandalwood Vanilla also has a Beard Oil.
I bet the labels are fl. oz. (fluid ounces or volume) not oz. (weight)
2 out of 3 products are no longer available on amazon
Pretty soon you're gonna have that iPhone 1....
So it's ok to use butter only?
I have the amazing LG VX8100 ----BOOM, Best sounding speakers ever.... Now what..
I have a beard butter that's the consistency of lotion. I thought it was kind of odd.
They go fluid oz vs. oz in weight. That's why it can weigh less.
Oh snaps. I did not know this. I work at wal mart and will be searching ladies butter on my breaks. LOL
Honestly I just straight up use unicorn period blood in my beard and it works great 🤷🏽♂️
Me too, smells excellent. Chicks dig it! 🧔
Fluid ounces in volume not ounces on a scale of weight.
At CVS you get a weekly 40% off one item--Brisk Beard Butter--after the discount 4 bucks for 4 oz. or brisk beard oil. 7.50 for 1.75 oz
💥Good POINTS!!!👍
Its measured in volume..not weight...that's why 11 oz only weights 7 oz....
I've also always wondered if beard balm can be used as lip balm
Update: Just tried it.. beard balm does not work as lip balm haha
What you thing about buying from Ali express (not from USA so the shipping is the same)?
Well that's where u messed up. Bought the Ulta brand on the drug store side aka mass. Go to the Prestige side n buy it.
Btw- thanks for the extra knowledge
Have you tried Shea Moisture beard products, cheap and all natural, and can get them at Wally World
is the unit of measurement (oz) on these jars by weight or by volume?
How about beard oils? Probably some similar women’s oils out there as well
Good Point
