This band is the greatest. Their body of work is awesome with no bad songs in ten years + they were together. They touch on every genre and were responsible for bringing us heavy rock. They always stretched themselves with their innovation from album to album and live performances were awesome as good as their studio but better with improvisations and huge charismatic performances. Once seeing them perform never forgotten. So many songs to hear and enjoy.
Thanks! 1977 Richfield Colosseum , near Cleveland, Ohio. I was 16 years old. I left school and drove two hours. I managed to buy a ticket in the parking lot, for $20. I specifically remember the performance of no quarter. The stage lighting was blue, fog rolling off the stage. I will always remember this moment in time, when hearing this song. Thanks for acknowledging the contribution of John Paul Jones ,John Bonham, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant. The concert was almost 4 hours in duration. I consider myself very fortunate to have experienced the music of these musicians. Thanks for your appreciation.
@@g-man8980 No , the riot was at the Cincinnati show a week before before Richfield show. The Richfield show had a tremendous police presence around the Colosseum, was surreal. Police in riot gear, canines, and horse mounted officers seemed like every 20 feet around them venue. I remember vividly this large arena the atmosphere was electric and a real moment in my 16 year old life. Zeppelin played Cincinnati, then played Detroit, Richfield and Pittsburgh. The tour was abruptly interrupted following the Pittsburgh show following the death of Robert Plants 5 year old son. I was fortunate to experience the show.
One of their very best, the studio mix can't be topped but live, this was a vehicle for John Paul Jones on keyboards and Jimmy Page on guitar to do long, extended solos that were a bit different every night. For me, the 1973 MSG performance is one of their best. Some ran over 20 amazing minutes. Enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥
Love the studio version - but live NQ is something else!!!! JPJ's improvisation are amazing. Never know what to expect - particularly like in the 1977 tour when they covered Nutrocker (a take on Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker) as part of NQ. Epic. Thanks for the reaction. ☮
@@robbob5302 Absolute great song, and another one that isn't underrated. Not sure what your criteria is for an underrated song, "No Quarter" and "Battle of Evermore" are not underrated, they are two more great songs by Zeppelin. That album, IV, Ruins, Symbols, or whatever you want to call it, was listened to by so many people, over and over again. To say they were underrated is, imo, is about as far fetched as you can go. There wasn't one song on that album that was or is underrated, they were all great, ask anyone who actually listened to it 100's of times, like me
I think it’s in the Song Remains The Same movie, there’s a really amazing longer version of this song, JPJ has a longer solo. I’ve watched all 4 live concerts, so I’m not sure which one, but I believe it’s in the movie. It is an amazing song, & as usual Led Zeppelin created another masterpiece, written by Plant Page & JPJ. I know up to some point Bonham couldn’t read music, so I don’t know if he plays his drums, as how he thinks they are needed. I at least had heard he couldn’t read music, whether true or not, I can’t say for fact. Thank you for your reaction.
If you listen to the Zep outtakes you can find on YT the original version of this song was a much faster tempo. It was someone’s idea to slow it down and the rest is history. I dont think there would ever have been bands like Tool if not for this single song. It created an entire genre.
Neither one of the other bands are anywhere near what Zeppelin accomplished in music, especially Deep Purple, they had a few great jamming songs, but that's all they were about, most of their music wasn't put together very well. Black Sabbath on the other hand had composed many great songs on their first few albums, but as with DP, they were basically one genre. LZ composed hit after hit, almost every song they wrote or the few they covered were 5 star songs, and they wrote music that covered almost every genre in the musical spectrum, and still created hit after hit, which shows how talented they really were
The atmosphere, nuance and mix of the studio original can't be topped BUT live, this sure took flight and every single live version you find on you tune is worth a listen. Total epic, every version I ever heard.
Top ten LZ tracks: Achilles last stand No Quarter Ten years gone In the light The song remains the same The Rover Good times bad times Over the hills and far away Dazed and confused Celebration day Yes, I know you are missing s few well known tracks

Saw many shows at the Richfield Colosseum. Too bad they plowed it down. Could of renovated it just for big concerts and shows.
Wasn't that the show where they had problems with people outside trying to get into a sold-out show?

The scalper doubled his money. Tickets were $9.50 for that tour. At that time it was the highest priced show I'd been to.
I love this song.
Yes spacey in the light from physical graffiti another must listen to,!
Often played 20-25 minutes in concert. This was a JOJ showpiece in live shows. Try Zeppelin's: In The Light for a tremendous prog masterpiece.
Rain Song, In the Light then Ten Years Gone.
"In the Light" is a great choice for a trippy song!
Zep goes Prog...
There's a live 40 min version ! From the L.A. Forum 06/27/77
For YOUR listening pleasure 👍😎👍
Studio version is just 👌🏼

In The Light and Carouselamba are my favorites!

One of Led Zeppelin’s two most underrated songs.
I didn't know this song was ever underrated, which is the other one, Stairway to Heaven?
@@Ledzepnut
The one right before that. The Battle of Evermore.
(Great song. But it could never get out of Stairway’s shadow, sadly.)

Underrated, because you almost never hear either one on the radio. I mean on stations that play a lot of Led Zeppelin.
open dictionary, look up underrated, reassess.

You're right. It's on SRtS.
@@g-man8980 I thought so, but wasn’t 100% sure.

That’s 4-D Jazz, with a bit of gothic flavor! Am I right🤷🏻♂️. The GOATS….PERIOD! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Good choice!
Black Sabbath,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple the holy triad of rock music🤘

If you like this song, two other very similar songs are:
Kings and Queens, by Aerosmith.
Planet Caravan, by Black Sabbath.
Check out the cover done by MAKTUB, off their Khronos LP. Pretty respectable!
Their is no such thing as a bad Zeppelin song. I know of no other band that this can be truly said about. Prove me wrong.
You should have played the live version. All live versions are better than the studio version.
The atmosphere, nuance and mix of the studio original can't be topped BUT live, this sure took flight and every single live version you find on you tune is worth a listen. Total epic, every version I ever heard.
nope, everyone should listen to the studio version before the live stuff
MSG...the best live performance
We don't all agree with that sentiment. I find a lot of LZ's live stuff sloppy. Just a personal preference.
I disliked it when the album came out. Now it is one of my top 5 LZ favourites.
Top ten LZ tracks:
Achilles last stand
No Quarter
Ten years gone
In the light
The song remains the same
The Rover
Good times bad times
Over the hills and far away
Dazed and confused
Celebration day
Yes, I know you are missing s few well known tracks
Funny it was my favorite track when the album came out.
Ax wielding course plotters.
ZEP=GOAT. Check out TOOL'S cover. It will blow you away! ✌️
