If anything the blue color was ment to combat the soviet red; also, I think they saw it as having a "tactical advantage" not being spotted easily in red, idk it was the 60s.

But regardless of what you or I think, the design most likely now will not be changing since Joe Biden is President-elect. The new plane wouldn't arrive till 2022-24 so he will most like like veto the redesign.

And if you read up on it, you will discover that the designer Raymond Loewy who was hired to do, among other things, the color scheme from the orange color of most Air Force planes gave several sketches to JFK. He picked one but it was red and gold and JFK asked that it be changed to blue. Loewy picked baby blue because it was Jackie's favorite color. It had absolutely NOTING to do with the cold war or tactical advantages. It was simply Kennedy's favorite color. And it was not meant to be a permanent design either. And I did not say "no one" remembers Jackie Kennedy. I said half the nation does not remember her. And its true and there is nothing disrespectful about it. As for the new design, Trump already approved it. But the Congress said they, through a committee, will ultimately choose the colors. But the plane is already in production. In fact, the 2 planes will the very very last 747's that Boeing will make as they retired the plane.

It's nice but my apologies, my first impression was that it looks a bit like the livery scheme of British Airways, especially that dark blue lower half of the fuselage and the dark blue jet engine nacelles.

The escape pod was on escape from new york in 1981 Air Force One was 1997. However, for the paint design, hopefully it does not pass, and they keep it the same, that colour scheme seems iconic now and would be a shame to change it.
