The A380 is fantastic and was considered when the Air Force was deciding on which aircraft would replace the two VC-25A primarily used as Air Force One. It really just made more sense to use a more modern version of the 747 though. The shape is an American icon and synonymous with Air Force One for decade now. The 747 is also American built while the A380 is European so it wouldn’t be quite as fitting. Not to mention the A380 is impressive to see for its size only, while the 747 has size, pedigree, and a shape that is immediately recognizable whether it’s in the air or on the ground. It’s just special in a way the A380 can never be which really helps when it comes to transporting the President to a meeting that requires you to show off against a foreign leader like Putin.

The A380 is fantastic and was considered when the Air Force was deciding on which aircraft would replace the two VC-25A primarily used as Air Force One. It really just made more sense to use a more modern version of the 747 though. The shape is an American icon and synonymous with Air Force One for decade now. The 747 is also American built while the A380 is European so it wouldn’t be quite as fitting. Not to mention the A380 is impressive to see for its size only, while the 747 has size, pedigree, and a shape that is immediately recognizable whether it’s in the air or on the ground. It’s just special in a way the A380 can never be which really helps when it comes to transporting the President to a meeting that requires you to show off against a foreign leader like Putin.

The 747 is big enough, like the 747 is already a jumbo jet. So the A380 would just be overkill and would require more fuel and maintenance costs on top of everything else. And the 747 is a iconic American aircraft so why else would the president be in anything else of this size.
