We all know about the boy who lived, but what about the scenes that didn’t survive the final cut. While the Harry Potter film franchise is eight films’ worth of material, only the most essential scenes and sequences were adapted from the seven book series - meaning many moments needed to fall to the cutting room floor. But consider ScreenRant as your room of requirement, because we’ll give you whatever you need, including scenes that you might have thought to be permanently lost, or simply banished to the confines of DVD special features. Here are 15 deleted scenes that not only could have changed the way you view your favorite characters, but also could have shaken up everything you thought you knew about your favorite wizarding world.
In this video, we’ll divulge the secret details that Harry discussed with his friends in, well, The Chamber of Secrets. We’ll see more of the grief that our heroes experienced following Sirius Black’s demise. There will be mentions of that time our heroes horsed around in Deathly Hallows Part 1, when Draco offering an olive branch in Deathly Hallows Part 2, and we’ll go over the special cameo appearances made by the sneakoscope and Sir Cadogan in Prisoner of Azkaban. Plus, we’ll glimpse scenes where our heroes piece everything together, sing snippets of the school song, reveal a Taboo, reference Grindelwald, share a positive exchange in the Half-Blood Prince cave, read a letter from Lily, have a word with Aberforth, and have deleted conversations with the Dursley clan. It’s all here on ScreenRant.

I REALLY wish they had included Draco throwing the wand to Harry, I feel like they needed to show a little bit more of Draco being nice. Plus to show that not all slytherins are super evil
(Also I wish they had included some of the other deleted scenes too, yes it wouldve made the movie a tiny bit longer but it wouldve added some sides to certain characters that we dont normally see)
The movies do kind of imply that all slytherins are evil until snape's reveal and Draco. The books make it clear that they were just assholes and there are a lot more slytherins than them. Though Slytherins in general are kind of dickish.
One: Graced, I agree
And Two: YusuHakueri I am a Slytherin I a kinda take offense to that, but no hate.
I'm a slytherin too.... Though I act more like a huffle puff sometimes. I'm not mean or anything at all, I feel like im half and half with how I act compared to slytherin
Grace Pearson same thing, here. I’m like a Slytherpuff
@@YuyuHakurei I'm a Slitherin and I'm very much a dick
Dudleys scene when they left and Draco throwing Harry the wand should of made it to the finale cut
Ik
It really should have. I mean, they kept the AWKWARD Voldy Draco hug (DH2), and the blurry face thing in PoA, but they couldn’t keep a simple three second wand throw. 🤦♀️
Yes! Draco had good in him
I agree with the Dudleys scene but Draco throwing a ward to Harry would have been too cheesy and highly inaccurate. It doesnt happen in the books and an extremely powerful wizard like Voldemort could easily stop the wand from flying to Harry. Also, the deleted scene shows Draco running between everyone and then throwing the wand. You really think Voldemeort wouldnt just kill Draco before he even takes a step forward?
yes you're preaching to the choir
The Dudley scene and Malfoy running should have been there. Also a better characterization of Ginny Potter.
@@Mrreowmeowmrreowmrowmeow oops but anyway she became a Potter later.

Harry Potter and the goblet of fire, should have been named
Harry Potter and the year that nobody got a hair cut
Omg ur so original
Jk that joke had to be mentioned
HRRY or Harry Potter and the very long journey to the barber shop
What about Hairy Potter and the year nobody got a hair cut?
HRRY why
Draco is so underrated, and that scene would have relieved everyone from his depressing scenes prior.
not in book
I agree, even though it's not in the book, it would've been such a huge ice breaker.
He is overrated
@@kaistinks1949 thank you I agree
@@HPFan4Life81 I just went over this already
The Dudley scene was important, but the Petunia scene was the most powerful scene cut from DH1.
ladycplum I know it proves that she cared about Lily no matter how many times she wished to deny it
Agree!!💓💓
In Petunia’s own way she was about to tell Harry she was sorry Harry lost a mum.
not to mention they both would’ve only added a few minutes to the run time
yeah, i was always disappointed that even if they cant stand each other, we didn’t see a goodbye scene between Harry and the Dursleys
Why didn’t you just play the scenes instead of talking through them!
I would take a stab in the dark and say copyrights
Ah yes another complaint about well made, 100% free content. The internet is working today

Peeves the poltergeist I wish he would’ve been included in the movies!
J. Brady yeah, but they can’t include everything from the books.
I can hear him saying "Harry Potty" and disturbing every single one of the students and professors everywhere with Argus Filch chasing him 😂😂😂😂
They were going to put him in but it didn’t look right or something so they didn’t put it in
Winky too
Had my favourite comedian voicing him too, RIP Rik Mayall
One of the scenes I wish they added in the move, was when Harry Fred and George got banned from playing Quidditch and the punch up they had with Malfoy
Bobina Jefferina Id have LOVED to see Harry, Fred and George bear up Malfoy in Order of the Phoenix!

Bella Crafts that would have been so funny, considering that the whole cast got along like however many cast members in a pod

I wish they had of kept the scene where Draco throws harry his wand that would of been perfecttttt ahhhh whyyyttt
I was looking for this comment
It would have made the movie perfect.
i know it would have been the best plot twist to the series
Because JK didn’t want redemption for Draco.
Me too😭
Time stamp?
“There’s more to Harry Potter than what you see on screen”
Yeah no kidding Sherlock its not like they were a book franchise first or anything...
trueee 😂
I think the people who makes videos like this with snarky comments don’t realise that there is an entire series of books, and multiple websites of even more information dedicated to Harry Potter. So sad...
Bella Crafts lmao
Lol me to
lol exactly
I would have loved to see Malfoy throw Harry his wand. That would have made a HUGE difference in the movie and for his character. Malfoy was egregiously overlooked in the other movies, IMO. I don't know anyone who doesn't love a good villain redemption and that would have been perfect.
Draco is just a little bean
not in book bogus scenes
Yes exactly
It was not in the books. It would have also unraveled the whole plot. Harry disarmed Draco earlier making him the true owner of the Elderwand. Losing his wand would have lost him the duel with Voldemort.
@@JSmellerM I know it wasn't in the book, but it would have been cool to keep in there anyway because that scene really is epic. And that's one of the rare times I say this because for the most part I want movies to stick to the books. But with movies they have creative liberty and every author whose books get adapted into movies understands this (Speaking as an author myself). And there are things movies have done that I wish had been in the book, and this is one of those times.
8:47 Draco is actually a mood in this scene, imagine how cringe this would’ve been if it was in the movie
Yeah 😂😂😂😅
Draco sings like me
JaH4mez it is in the movie lmao
It was in the movie
Church vibes
The deleted scene I wish had been kept is Aunt Petunia to Harry Potter. It seems to me that she speaks to Harry as an adult. Lily's loss hit her.
Karl Bergen but it didn’t happen in the books
Tessa Des Chenes I know but Petunia had never said something like “I lost a sister that night”... when they had to left in the 7th book she had the possibility to say “sorry” pe something else but she didn’t. Big D is the only one Who said something showing love for Harry
Tessa Des Chenes i Think you are right, but i think you didn’t read correctly the comment that i had reply saying “but it didn’t happened in the book”

Draco throwing his wand to Harry, and Dudley telling Harry that he doesn't think Harry was a waste of space could have left a powerful message that even the most bullied people have good hearts as well. And I love the Hogwarts' song, btw.
3:02 The Rabbit was meant to be hunted for food and Ron wore the locket during the duel. Pretty sure this wasn't meant to be a playful scene.
Joe Balaich Yh based on the look on ron’s face suggested that
Oh OK so it wasn't just me.
Yeah, no, they def weren't playing around. MAYbe at first, but then isht got real.
Yeah Ron got like weird bc of the locket
Probably... At least not for ron 😳
I get that it's called "screen" rant, but can we at least acknowledge that the books exist? The movies skipped at least half of the entire story.
@@norasimionescu5570 Kreacher's story needed a screen time! I hate those movies. I used to say the first two were pretty good but now reading the books again (and having a grown-up insight) I can say it. Movies are not even close to how good the books are. But well... whoever pretends to be a fan, we can always ask them about how Fred and George had enough money to make their Weasley Wizard Wheezes or about how the professors leave a tiny mark of Fred and George being there (5th book, I think it was Flitwick) and playing a little with Umbridge. That was fantastic actually. And I would have killed to get a scene with Dumbledore Army helping Harry to plot against Umbridge to escape from Hogwarts. Or Dudley being pranked by Fred and George. 🤣
Maybe in the future, a mini-series will be made?
movies have limits, one being time and the books still exist
Anna Bourbon yes thank you! Like when peeves happened and they said to give umbridge hell and he actually obeyed, or the “Voldys gone moldy”, or when in the end Harry and Voldemort had that whole conversation in front of Hogwarts and everyone THAT WAS IMPORTANT AND IN THE MOVIES THEY DIDNT EVEN BOTHER 😞
@Booper Dooper You know you can just google "harry potter pdf" right?
I mean that’s why we read the books. The movies are inaccurate.
Angel Lampley not inaccurate, just neglectful, in terms of certain plot lines.
Inaccurate being used very loosely here.

halla1rw of course
Ha! Good one! 😂
I'm missing the 'Im Noctem' scene where the Hogwarts Choir is singing (in Latin). During this scene we see Snape and Draco preparing themselves for the night of Dumbledore's demise. It also shows Snape's true emotions and whose side he is really on. It's a hauntingly beautiful cut scene.
Goikuchan i believe there is a clip of that scene somewhere on the internet, i have it saved on my phone to watch it once in a while bc i really love how the music portrays the mood at that moment for snape and draco
@@olivierm2401 Yes, it is on UA-cam. Just look up: Im noctem.
@@Goikuchan thanks
13:07 It's also eventually revealed in the book that Snape was the one who took the other page of the letter. "Love, Lily".
Let me rename this to be more fitting: Stuff you would know if you read the books.
True but somewhat inaccurate. Draco never throws Harry the wand in the books after all so while the scene was cool I can see why it never made the cut.
ikr???
Agreed
4. Draco's decision
12. Lily's letter
13. Remus exposition
15. Final words w/ Dudley
Leaving these scenes in would've made later events so much more emotional and satisfying.
i think the scene with malfoy throwing his wand to harry should've stayed in because it would have been a good way to add to malfoys unwillingness to serve voldemort. honestly malfoy is just a tragic character because of his family
sith_slayer684 except he was very willing to serve Voldemort until he was given a task that was designed to kill him
SuperFabregas2 yeah but still that isn’t an excuse to remove his redemption from the movie

Ante_Pante06 I did everytime I finished one of the books I would watch the movie after
That scene with Dudley definitely should have made the cut, brought a tear to my eye to see it shown as it shows Dudley has grown and realised Harry is his family
Exactly
The "playful" fight between Harry and Ron was, according to the book, not playful at all. Ron had been wearing the locket and it effected his mood. He became paranoid and was going after Harry on purpose.
The Dudley scene would've been great!
AJTheSavage21 I agree.
Totally Agree.
This is one of the scenes I was most annoyed that they didn't include. Dudley grew up so much.
5:09 is when I discovered Voldemort does have a nose 👃 😂😂
The 3rd movie is still my favorite movie in the series, it was such a trip
That big D n petunia scene always made me cry...bcz that change in dursleys is💥
Draco throwing Harry his wand and Dudley's scene added so much depth to the movie, I really think they should've made it in.
The boy who almost didn't live
I was SOOO pissed the line, "I'm not worried, Harry. I am with you," was cut. That was Dumbledore's absolute best moment.
the series is so good vids are still getting uploaded about it 19 years later
i really wish we would have seen more of Draco's character growth. he was just as important as any other character and deserved his own screen time too :(( would've been cool to see this story from his side. a super underrated and mistreated character
They should have included the part in Order of the Phoenix when Mcgonagall gets stunned protecting Hagrid! One of the most Gryffindor moments ever. Very important to Mcgonagall's character development. Especially since she leads the charge in Deathly Hallows Part 2.
POA was the greatest of them all because they include scenes that let you breathe, it actually feels magical just flying though hogwarts in silence, just like Ghibli movies.

I REALLY wish that they included this scene of Tonks talking to Remus and it was about Teddy and that was just before they died 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭
The last deleted scene makes me teary, not just the emotions of the characters but of Harry leaving "home" for the last time as the series ends
The “Draco throws Harry his wand” scene wouldn’t make much sense to me. All though he turned against his parents, he still doesn’t like Harry and is probably very confused, so it wouldn’t be too probable for him to do such a big thing
Mary Baldaan I feel like he actually does like Harry, but only because he was the “chosen one”. At the start of the movie you clearly see Draco actually be nice to Harry and offering a hand shake but then Harry refuses. In a deleted scene where Draco throws his wand he also screams “POTTER” as he realises Harry isn’t dead.
In another clip he asks Harry if he actually fainted. First he sounds worried but then proceeds to keep his “evil character”.
He never wanted to do harm, he was forced to by his evil family
not in book
He likes Harry. He saved his life and after years they get along
Dracp throwing Harry his wand is only a movie thing don't happen in the book that i remember i just read the book last Christmas for the like 100th time
I don’t love to hate Draco, Draco has always been my favourite character

You forgot to mention the In noctem song in half blood Prince.. that was the most sentimental moment where we can see subtly that Snape is actually reluctant on killing dumbledore
The Draco scene would have made me MAYBE like Draco a little more ._.

Just like Hermione saying Ron's name.
He was able to track them
7:06 leave Neville alone!
Omg at 5:09 voldemort looks so weird with a nose
I wish they would have kept the scene where Draco throws the wand to Harry because it would have shown that Draco isn't completely evil. I also wish they kept the scene where Dudley tells Harry that he doesn't think Harry is a waste of space because I feel that it would've shown how Dudley wasn't always this big bully that picked on Harry, and he actually cared about Harry instead of supposedly hating harry all the time. These two scenes would've changed the movie a lot because they would've shown how Draco and Dudley aren't always cruel. Also if they would've added the scene where everyone sings the Hogwarts song, would've made it even more amazing.
16:00 I could’ve sworn that scene was in the movie.
8:06 Especially the ones of us who have ACTUALLY READ THE BOOKS!
Just show the deleted scenes instead of talking about them!!
Jeannette Longworth I agree !!!!
they have to talk through them otherwise they'll get copyrighted
Personally I like the commentary
Does anyone remember that scene when harry and Draco meet in the robe shop? I’ve looked all over UA-cam and can’t find any clip on it. I vividly remember it, I know it’s not in the movie now. But I can’t help but think it was a deleted scene. It’s crazy it’s not in the movies because it was the first time Harry and Draco met. But I don’t know maybe it’s just my imagination. 🤷🏻♀️
Zara MacDonald I don’t think it was in the movies.
Harry first met Draco in Madam Malkin's robe shop in Book 1 however he first meets Draco in the Entrance Hall when they first arrive to Hogwarts in Movie 1
It was never filmed.
I don't think it was in the movie...well its the first meet of harry and darco malfoy in the book...

At 15:13 that is wrong because in the 4th movie (Goblet of Fire) you never see the Dursleys but you do in the books.
It was such a shame, too. I was really looking forward to the scene where the Weasleys come to the Dursley's house through the sealed fireplace to take Harry to the Quidditch World Cup.
@@AquaFireMatt Yeah and Dudley's messed up tongue
Also the sixth
movie starts with Harry at a diner watching the trains.
The draco gives his wand scenes.
And I already know that draco was a good guy
*His glasses went through hell and back!* 😂
Or you could read the books, like a normal fan of Harry Potter...
None of us are “normal”
Craig Norton I hate how righteous you book readers are. None of us film lovers have ever dissed the books we just aren’t big on reading in general . I grew up on the films, it was an incredibly magical visual experience that I adored. As i grew and became more mature and less naive the story of the films and the characters themselves became more mature and less naive and it was such a special unique experience for me and everyone else my age who was a fan of the films. The books are obviously the original masterpieces but to deny how spectacular the films were and still are to this day is just crazy especially if you’re a fan of Harry Potter in general.
Josh Stop taking it as a personal attack, but if fans what to fully understand the series, they need to read the books.
Hey Josh, I have two questions: if you love the movies so much and think they are perfect. Why watch a UA-cam video on the deleted scenes that would have made the movies better?
Second question, why would fans of the HP movies want to criticize the books? Making this statement hold no magical tonic.
I am sorry that you as a man feel the need to defend a group of movies by mis-caracterizing what I said, then preceding to attach me personally, when we have never met and I don't know you.
If there is any jealousy I have for you, it is that you maintain the opportunity to experience the books in all of their magic for the first time. I would simply be reading them again for the fourth or fifth time through... (Witch) I think I may do this Christmas 😏
@@CreigerMcGreger which*
4:50 It’s sad they didn’t add this scène in the movie
I was touched the most by the Dursleys. Petunia took in her sisters child. Love speaks in silent acts. Hatred spews in violent acts.
5:09 r/ cursed images
10:39 HIS NOSE DOES EXIST
13:36 You mean Tonks reaching for Lupin while he subtly pulls away.
That final scene you mentioned is notably smaller than it's book counterpart as well. In the book it actually feels like Harry and the Dursleys were almost ready to finally bury the hatchet, or in Dudley's case actually ready to bury the hatchet.
Of course one scene from the books that could easily have changed a lot in the Order if the Phoenix film was Harry explaining to the Dursleys what dementors are after the howler from the ministry, and their realization that despite everything, Harry did save Dudley and not cause his then current state.
Draco throwing Harry the wand would have been perfect, considering the history of The Elder Wand and a fact that because Draco beat Dumbledore, Draco had The Elder Wand. In the books, Harry steals Draco’s wand from Malloy Manor but Draco making the powerful choice and throwing it to Harry and giving him The Elder Wand makes sense and gives Draco’s struggles more meaning and his relationship with Harry more importance.
It certainly would have been a lot better than the weird Voldemort hug that they ultimately went with, that Draco used, to cross the courtyard. Draco tossing Harry the wand as he sprints across, would have been the best possible action for getting Draco across the courtyard and then having Draco disapparating away with his parents or friends Crabbe and Goyle makes sense.
The Dudley scene should’ve been left in. It’s such a touching moment and shows a moment of brotherly love.
I love the Screen arrant videos and articles. I first discovered the articles while trying to find deleted songs from Hamilton, and the UA-cam channel while looking for deleted Harry Potter scenes (and this video is what I found). What I’m trying to say is that I love Screen Rant.
draco is one of my favorite characters because he is mean but he isnt evil, and hes being pressured by his parents, also i just cant hate him

Is it just me but I strictly remember Harry sitting alone and saying “who am I” like umm just new ok
Ive noticed that when the movies are played on tv, the cut scenes are sometimes included in the movie. It's always super friggin trippy
The end of harry potter was like end of an amazing era ! Its story will live with us together , the really love the trio of harry , ron , Hermione
we all really need a scene where Draco runs and throws his wand at Potter. it's not a small scene, it will greatly affect the ending of the story. the audience will definitely be more satisfied. and again actually draco is a very good character. I think that scene will be a chance to show Draco's character development and how important this character is. why did they cut it.. what a shame
6:26 BAHAHAH he called that lady fat 👁👄👁
the draco scene was REALLY needed. i love draco because of how misunderstood he is. it is literally a fact that draco is forced and expected to join voldemort. the draco scene would’ve not only shown he wants to be a good person, but that slytherins aren’t always bad. they can be good. i really wish they kept that scene in
It's not necessary to talk over the deleted scenes. Let us watch it without the narrator's voiceover.
@madison green plenty of other videos that include the actual scenes that still get ads.
You can go to deleted scenes on most movies.
they have to to not get copyrighted
I wish all of those deleted scenes were in the films, there's no point in removing them at all.
I really wish they would have kept that last one in, it was one of my favorite parts of that book.
Why couldn’t they have added all the deleted scenes to the individual blue ray movies , Peter Jackson done it with lord of the rings trilogy, an extra 17 minutes was added to each film , I get why they have to cut for the cinema but surely they can be added into the films for our enjoyment at home , I know I would of loved it .
I just started reading the books after watching all the movies and now I relize the books have more detail than movies bc they were the original
The movies are amazing but the books are absolute. The way she writes paints it in your mind so reading the Harry Potter books is like watching it in your mind. She really is a talented author.
@@inu551 As a huge HP fan, I really don't think she's all that talented. Absolutely nothing she has written (or said) since the end of the 7th book has been anything close to the main series. She just spouts nonsense at this point. I think it was more of a "Monkey writing Shakespeare" kind of deal where she just blindly stumbled into writing the main series.
@Cora Weigle Did I ever say I was a good writer? Do I have to be a comedian to know if something is funny? She's absolutely lost her mind at this point, have you even seen some of the things she's said/written since the main series ended?
I love the scene, were petunia an dudley are nice to harry! I shows, that Harry Potter has a real family in them!
Screen rant: there is more to Harry Potter than on screen.
Me: yeah... It's called books.
4:09 doumbldore looks so cool in that scene. Harry Potter is one of the best movies I've seen along with alita angel of battle avengers ,bright , Godzilla k o m , and all jet li movies
Always thought Malfoy needed some redemption at the end, would have made a much better ending to see Harry and malfoy fighting Voldemort together, especially after Harry went to the trouble of saving him.
I actually liked the Prisoner of Azkaban. Like, it was much more true to the books. Harry actually looked the messy haired, uncared for teenager in that and it wasn't cut up like The Goblet of Fire was.
The Draco throwing the wand def should have stayed in. He had developed too much to just be brushed off in the end, but too little to have made a complete 180 and turn on Voldemort and attack him. He was cowardly and didn't want any, especially Harry, to die from his own hands or anyone. Believing Harry was dead, he gave up all hope. He tried to stay on Hogwarts' side but his mom, the one who seemed to care the most about him, finally persuaded him, albeit reluctantly, to walk over to her. The scene that was cut would have been perfect because he suddenly realizes that not all is lost and that Harry is still alive. There is still hope. And despite him wanting to please his parents, he acts recklessly on the spot to toss his wand to Harry, believing that he can actually do it, having even the slightly shred of hope left.
