fan of Marvel/DC movies here, teen coming of age movies are very entertaining to watch and i recall that The Breakfast Club was released in some theaters within some states back in 2015 which was to honor the 30th anniversary, i remember reading about it somewhere safari or chrome where they announced it to be displayed on the silver screen, this movie was played back in high school, especially for those who graduated in 2017 and 2018, the first time watching the Breakfast Club was truly nostalgic because i saw it in 2010 for the first time and then for the 2nd time in 2016, i imagine that it would have been more better than it already was if i was alive in the 80’s and saw it on the silver screen during that era.

I like the scene but they needed to dial down the rawness of it. Don’t predict a bad ending for every character ! I Mean at least be realistic and say 1-2 make it to see a happy life
@@superstarreviews9937I totally agree. For example, in New York City schools janitors earn more than teachers with all the OT and working also in summer session. Their benefits are very good as well and they get lol the school holidays off. It’s a Damn good job that’s hard to get.
Well, they couldn't put everything in the film. What's interesting is that you find out Carl was a student from this same high school. Blink and you will miss his picture in the opening narration of the film.
Everyone talks about Carl's monologue (for good reason, it's an excellent scene), but I was really impressed with the scene where Bender, Brian and Molly talk between the books. First, the framing of that was comedy gold. Second, the cinematic cut had slightly too many scene of Bender being horrible to Molly and not enough of them being friendly and I think that exchange would've helped balance it out a bit better. It's a very cute scene that I'd wished they'd included.
I totally agree. I always felt the relationship between the two progressed from cruel to caring too quickly/I remember it seemed odd when I watched it years ago - I think this scene WOULD DEFINITELY have helped us understand the transition of her feelings toward him
Finding these deleted scenes has really added even more depth to the characters. I love it. This is my all time favourite 80's movie, and I love it. Thank you.
For real and to think I thought he was just exaggerating in that scene & I was like Allison listen to Prince? Cause I took her for someone who listens to Alice Cooper
@Booty eatin' Benadryl bandit Carl's just telling Bender what he's already afraid is his future, written in stone. Hopefully they realize that Carl used to be the Andrew of Shermer, and disregard Carl's predictions as wishful thinking from a guy who lost it all.
@@PrestigeLearning It would have been great to have this in the Final Cut. Vernon would end up summarizing Carl’s words “You go see John Bender in five years…..and see how funny he is.”
Also, I really liked how much more depth the Brian and Claire scenes brought to their characters when they were talking about their relationships with their parents. We all know how Bender, Andy, and Allison's parental relationships were, but they didn't go into depth about Brian and Claire's, and I think that was a missed opportunity. Even the most popular girl in school and the smartest kid in the room didn't have idyllic relationships with their folks.
I feel like Claire went into more detail than Allison. Claire talks about how she is a tool for her parents to use against one another and how she hates it and would prefer to live with her brother. Allison just says her parents ignore her.
Claire & Brian's dynamic was one of the more interesting to me, because it was more of a leap. Back then, popular kids & snobs would sometimes 'slum it' or 'date down' with burnout types like Bender as a way to seem edgy or rebellious, but rarely would they bother with the more academic or immature nerd types. The fact that Claire even condescends to talk to Brian and engage him in a debate is a revelation, for the time period. So, a relationship between Claire & Brian would have been even more radical.
That was the reality of the day, and any day, honestly. Teens will always conflict with parents, it's just how life is. Then when you get older, you appreciate your parents if they did a good job...
i think it's because bender's used to immature yelling matches with his parents and vernon, he's not used to someone who can articulately and brutally tear down someone's character even better than he can.
Maybe the janitor's scene was a bit dark to be included in the movie but it should've been included as it shows how close he can relate to each student and how far he can project them into the future and how he fucked his life up and yet still doesn't hate the children since he knows he was one of them and ironically this is what has kept the last ray of light in his heart unlike Vernon who's dead inside This very deleted scene adds more layers to his character which makes him more wise (in a way) I like how he tells them how he fucked up with no emotions because he must have played his entire life in his mind countless times and hence couldn't feel any regrets, at least not in front of the kids This scene is very necessary for the film
the janitor was just a ok guy and I even think that he wanted to motivate these teenagers, he told them such dark visions of themselves in a few years so that they would try not to have them, it means to live better
I think it’s a bit overboard as the janitor is able to relate but also to be sarcastic and treat the kids with respect. He answers back and joshes with them because of that respect. The scene with him giving predictions lasts too long and is a bit too dark and dismissive to be included. Could have said something like ‘I see everything, I know all your secrets, and some of you may well end up in the “custodial arts” someday if you’re not careful.’
I can relate to Allison (Ally Sheedy) because she's a basketcase like I was in high school. I'm only 19 and we both don't even talk when people make comments or try to tempt us to talk unless we need to like at work. Ally Sheedy is totally bae 😍
On the contrary. I think the janitor's scene gave a sort of a needed reality check for the teens as to how their lives could end up. And it actually works better coming from him as opposed to Vernon who doesn't relate to the kids at all and just berates them.
I like the idea of including a similar extended scene, but one more cautionary and relatable and less aggressive and insulting. I think Hughes made a decision to give Carl's character more dimension through his relationship with Dick, excuse me, Rich, rather than the kids, and it worked well in the end, but I really liked where he was going with this deleted scene.
Carl's scene should have stayed in the film. It may seem bleak but it's a harsh reality that they needed to hear and pretty much every kid in the 80s and 90s need to hear because life can turn to shit if you don't get your shit together while you still can.
Wish theyd kept the scene with Alison throwing the papers out of the staff locker while manically grinning. Really shows how she does anything to get the attention her parents and peers dont give.
''And these children that you spit on as they try to change their worlds are immune to your consultations. They're quite aware of what they're going through.''
They're also immune to wisdom, experience, and perspective which is why many don't know what bathroom to use, have the most luxurious lifestyles of any US generation yet are angered and feel oppressed, adopt the lowest social values that people 30 years ago would find detestable yet don't know why their families and lives are breaking apart. Not a poetic as Bowie.. but far more accurate.
I feel like the janitors prediction was likely hella spot on... My flipside prediction is Bender became a teacher... To help kids like him, &ends up just as jaded as the guy running detention.... Sporto & the weird girl end up marrying, three kids, she's on the PTA, he's just as bad as his old man.... Brian came out in college & owns half the town... Claire is on her third marriage, but still hooks up w bender when she's in town...
Janitors and cleaners really do make the world go round. People have no idea how fast junk piles up especially in an office or public buildings, let alone public restrooms. If custodians don't show up to work for even 2 days entire buildings can go to shit, literally.
I thank total strangers I see cleaning up, whether their working or volunteering. I appreciate everyone who does their part. No one is above me or beneath me.
Very true, before I realized this I was a shithead kid who left toilet paper on bathroom floors etc., eventually came to feel bad when I knew someone would have to clean it up
Some janitors do very well in certain suburban and urban school districts. They get a good steady salary , benefits, and all the school vacation days paid.
Best low-cost movie ever made. I especially love the pan around Emilio when talking about taping Larry Lester's buns together. The Pixi Stix/Captain Crunch sandwich, bologna slide-off scene was pretty epic too. This movie hits high school life dead on the head for every Neo Maxi Zoom Dweebie out there!
Damn, I feel like I've seen a new movie all over again. There was a different side to these ppl. As many times as I've seen this movie. I wish they would add all the deleted scenes and put in in the theater again because I would watch it over and over. This is by far the best. If there was anymore deleted scenes to this (which I heard there was) I wish to see them as well. But damn, this was amazing and here I'm thinking it had only one deleted scene. When Allison walks in feet of Vernon and gives him the finger (I didn't even know she flipped him). Thank you Ziggy.
There are several other deleted scenes that we haven't seen including a dream sequence where Allison dreams what each of the five characters would be like internally. Bender would be a prisoner, Andy as a viking, Brian as an astronaut, Claire as a bride and herself as a vampire. There are photos of some of the actors dressed in these costumes. In the group therapy scene, Allison apparently demonstrates that she can write with her toes and this is filmed. Another scene involves Bender, Brian and Andy in the Mens Bathroom just as it showed Claire and Allison in the Ladies Bathroom. Brian goes in a stall to pee and Bender says that he is gay if he pees in a stall (standing up). Then Brian goes to sit down and Bender says that he is a woman if he sits down to pee (inside the stall). Bender convinces Andy to go along with his taunts at Brian. Then when Bender and Andy are leaving, Brian uses the urinal. Vernon opens the Mens Bathroom door to see what is taking Brian so long and it infers that Vernon startles Brian. I can see why this scene was removed. Allison signs a song to herself as she sits in a small room while the rest of the gang smoke marijuana (apparently the performance affected some of the crew emotionally). I believe that this footage may be shown in a trailer and/or in a documentary about the movie. There's also a kiss scene between Bender and Claire in the closet which is also seen in a trailer. And finally there are two additional ending scenes that were removed. The first scene shows Bender continuing to walk along the streets as Simple Minds 'Don't You Forget About Me' continues to play. Bender jumps up and hits a street sign while he walks home. And the second ending scene is believed to have shown the five students on Monday while they are in their groups/cliques in the hallway. They exchange nods with one another but leave it unknown if they make the attempt to actually talk to one another. I really wish these scenes will eventually see the light of day!
@@holiday197 "Allison signs a song to herself as she sits in a small room while the rest of the gang smoke marijuana (apparently the performance affected some of the crew emotionally). I believe that this footage may be shown in a trailer and/or in a documentary about the movie." I remember reading about that. It was "My Life" by Phil Ochs. A couple of scenes always bothered me. I always felt the scene with Vernon giving Bender more detention deserved better dialogue. Vernon: "Are you through?" Bender: "No." Vernon: "I'm doing society a favor." Bender: "Bullshit, you're doing yourself a favor." The actual dialogue just made him seem like another dumb burnout who thought he was tough. Also, I thought that by the end, once the kids realized that it was the parents and school structure that was making their lives so miserable, they should've all banded together and beat the living shit out of the Principal.
@@holiday197damn I wish they’d left the Monday scene in! Hughes always wanted to do a sequel to this movie but I’m skeptical if he could pull it off. I’d have loved to have watched though- good or bad
This was THEE defining movie for my generation. I was in the eighth grade when this was released, and everyone had related with one of these five characters. Man, watching this makes me feel like I’m in high school all over again !
I hope that the full Directors Cut is released someday as there are still some scenes missing. There’s a scene where Allison dreams what each of them feel like internally with her as a vampire, Claire as a bride, Bender as a prisoner, Brian as an astronaut and Andrew as a viking. There are photos around of what the scene looked like with Brian, Andrew and Allison in costume. There is also a scene in the Mens Bathroom with Bender, Andrew and Brian although it seems like it might be homophobic (I have read it in the original script). Apparently there are also two additional ending scenes. One scene is an extension of Bender walking home along the street as Simple Minds ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ continues to play and he jumps up and hits a street sign along the way. And the other scene apparently shows the five of them on Monday morning where they are around the other students. They each nod to each other in their groups but leave it up in the air if any of them make an effort to go up and talk to each other. I believe John Hughes’ wife had the copy before she had passed away so their sons may have the copy. If so, I really hope they release it someday.
I'm glad they drastically toned down the janitors monolog ... It was far too bleak and morose to be telling a bunch of high school kids that their lives are meaningless ... grown ups don't have the right to tell kids who they are or what their life is going to be ... that point was made pretty clear with the paper they all wrote at the close of the actual movie.
I think it would have made the ending even stronger. Since it shows how carl was a student like them who wanted to become somebody but eventually became a nobody, the ending kept same with essay reading would have meant 'fu** you' to his words, basically saying 'you don't get choose who we become, we ourselves do'. Also a little more depth to vernon would have been better if the scene with carl in basement when they were talking was a bit longer and he recounts how he was like one of them, the kids until he got punched by his life and became jaded and cynic, no fun. Ebert did say in his review that vernon felt 'one dimensional'. I think that scene being a bit longer would have been fine.
it was funny but felt unnecessary, the movie and it’s message was big on show and don’t tell and the monologue is a basically the movie written out for blind people. and with the essay brian wrote, it would’ve felt repetitive
He was great other movies, like the Billionaire Boys' Club (made for TV but awesome), and also From the Hip. He should have been in more movies, frankly. Like Harry Dean Stanton, he makes anything he's in good.
He was always good, but I agree, he owned his role like few actors ever have. This is my all-time favourite movie (16 when it came out), and all the cast were amazing in their roles. But Judd as Bender is one of the all-time great casting decisions and performances. Did I stutter?
Class of '81 here.......Wish so bad they still made movies like this; teenagers today could use movies like this. Have seen this movie a hundred times, and it still is hilarious - love these deleted scenes, especially the janitor.
Class of '83 and it's amazing how Hughes captured the times in this film. This was a photocopy of my school. We had the Benders, the jocks, prom queens, academic nerds and basket case loners. I think there was maybe one other class or group and it was those who tried to fit into one of these select groups but weren't completely accepted into it so they floated from one group to the next. They didn't know who they were but just wanted to belong to something.
There's DEFINITELY some things that made it in the final cut of the film, but it was GREAT to see some things that weren't. Like the bathroom scenes (although I understand why those were cut) did drag the pacing a bit. The extended Carl scene though, was TOTALLY AWESOME!!!! Hughes should have left that in. I always felt like Carl had something to say about each of them. John Kapelos was SO FUNNY! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ally Sheedy marauding the locker and flipping Vernon off were both funny too (I would have cut the locker marauding scene myself and left her flipping the bird to Vernon instead. The "Smegma Toast!" 📚 sliding around scene was TOTALLY CLASSIC in it's entirety though! Should DEFINITELY have been kept in! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They should have kept in the scene with Brian and Claire acting out their families, the books scene, Alison at the locker with Andy, it added to their characters in a cool way. The janitor scene idk I mean it was cruel but ironic and hilarious but not necessary. All these deleted scenes added more humour even to Vernon. Brian and Claire deserved more character scenes and at least them talking about their families added some power to their otherwise quite passive characters. Brian's squeals at the end lol hilarious 25:20
Class of 82. When this came out I fell head over heels for Ally Sheedy. Her character was underdeveloped in the film and the addition of her flipping the bird at Dick would have been a great scene.
Having been out of high school for over 20 years, Carl's assessment of the Breakfast Club kids is so dead on. Wish they left it in the original. Carl was also right in that kids don't change, the adults become all jaded once they figure out that being an adult is actually fucking work.
It’s so true because it’s like if you think about it in especially in US schools, you know you spent the majority of your life trying to figure out who you wanna be who you’re gonna grow up and then it’s like most people when they finally get out of that high school they get stuck in the phase of they gotta find a way to make money and while they’re surviving in this world dealing with all the nonsense that people are trying to cheat the system that other corrupt people they’ve created so it’s OK it’s like a rat race between making all your dreams come true, while at the same time, though trying to escape what is known as a legal form of slavery
OMG I dont know how Im just now seeing this! Im dying over these deleted scenes, this has always been one of my favorite movies. These outtakes were pure gold!!
The janitor predicting their future is too dark for a dramedy like this….the kids have all the power in this film and that scene would take that power away.
The part with Carl predicting all the kids' futures is gold. Too bad it was cut from the film. Carl was after all, Shermer High School's Man of the Year back in his day. Yet there he, not being the king anymore. Carl's comments aimed at both Andy and Claire are easily reminders of how high school popularity ends. Then comes adulthood. High school success, or any school success doesn't guarentee success in life. The message of the scene is enjoy your high school years, because it is truly your last chance to be carefree. Know that life in unpredictable, and be able and willing to be resiliant, and willing to adapt challenges life may throw your way.
Omg the extended Carl scene is absolute gold. I get that it goes a bit long but if there's a director's cut of The Breakfast Club it better be in there.
This is one of my favorite films and I used to wish my school days were like this. Hell, I wished that I was in the film at a time. Now, it's just good to see bits that I haven't seen before. Detention at the school I went to definitely wasn't like this! It was a couple of hours after school, in the study hall, in silence doing homework or writing lines.
Where I went to school there was detention-2 hours at the end of the day. But it also had a more severe punishment, "Saturday school," which is exactly like what's in this movie.
Yeah I remember our detention started off where we’d spend an hour after school In a study hall type room. Then it turned into where we’d have to spend all day in a room On the first floor - no talking and only 2 small breaks. After two of those I started not getting in trouble anymore lol. My high school Days were nothing like the 80s movies. Hell, hardly anyone I know had experiences like you saw in the movies and we couldn’t wait to get out. Then a year or so after you do get out you realize it wasn’t so bad . Life is weird
@@gregthegroove Ha! Right? During h.s. one day, senior year, 1988, me and a friend smoked an entire joint - right by the door, for some reason. After, as we were walking out, a teacher walked in, right into the cloud!!

$11.75 an hour was awesome money in 85. I remember my older brother making that as a custodian. I never say janitor, sounds degrading. I remember him buying me col clothes video games..lol...I love this film. It's brilliant. I love my brother
Janitor jobs in some school districts especially large urban/suburban ones earn as much as teachers. They get all the benefits such as health and pension. They also get paid school holidays.
I swear it's a Mandela effect, but I *remember* both the Carl dishing out truth scene and Allison giving the finger while the principal fought to get his coffee. I distinctly remember Claire calling her 'cool'. I'd seen this in a theatre in Scarborough in 1985 and it was my favourite scene and wow, colour me shocked when it wasn't in my DVD copy!
Ugh. This is such a treat. Thanks for posting this friend. I think it’s so cool that this keeps many of the real “printed” scenes intact, allowing for the context of each deleted scene to add to its entertain-ability. Like I’m sitting here doing my thing with this on next to me as if it was the movie, which if these were only the deleted scenes they wouldn’t have the setup included that allows for it to feel like scenes playing at a movie rate rather than a DVD extra rate. Whoever doesn’t agree is Smegma Toast! (A new classic that this gold has added into the house of gold)
What scene I love is when the janitor gives it right back to them. He is the eyes and ears of that institution, he reads their notes, listens to their conversations and he knows where they will all end up in ten years. Love that scene.
Excellent clip! Thanks for the find. That Janitor scene was awesome. Not sure why they sliced it. It would've given great depth to the characters mid way through.
You have no idea how much this made my day (if not year). Especially someone who grew up in the dangers of these Chicago streets (although 60613, not 60062). This movie has been with me longer than I’d like to admit. Granted it was my older siblings who introduced me to it. I actually went looking for Shermer, IL.
There’s a part of me that would love to see a sequel of this; and I think John Hughes was even working on one, but the original is just such a perfect presentation of the zeitgeist, I’d hate to see it tarnished by a subpar follow up. I mean, as much as I love the Matrix series, the subsequent entries didn’t really live up to the polished story of the original.
I would love to see this movie rereleased in theaters with all these deleted scenes in it. I know I friggin lost it when when Judd Nealson did the “Lucy, you have some splaining to do!” bit from “I love Lucy”

Fun fact: Bill Murray(Venkman), John Candy(Uncle Buck), and Rick Moranis(Dark Helmet) were all optioned to play Carl
its the subtext of the whole movie. it was unnecessary.
He call that boy twat lips lol
Everyone talks about Carl's monologue (for good reason, it's an excellent scene), but I was really impressed with the scene where Bender, Brian and Molly talk between the books. First, the framing of that was comedy gold. Second, the cinematic cut had slightly too many scene of Bender being horrible to Molly and not enough of them being friendly and I think that exchange would've helped balance it out a bit better. It's a very cute scene that I'd wished they'd included.
He’s so cool
Who’s Molly? You mean Claire?
@@mr.noride7226 Confused the actresses name with the characters name, my b
Honestly those scenes of Bender and Claire being friendly towards each other help explain why and how they end up together
I totally agree. I always felt the relationship between the two progressed from cruel to caring too quickly/I remember it seemed odd when I watched it years ago - I think this scene WOULD DEFINITELY have helped us understand the transition of her feelings toward him
$11.74 an hour wage in 1985 was incredible....I remember making $3.65 an hour and thinking I was rich!...
Yea that is over $31 in todays inflation adjusted dollars
I started at 4.25 an hour in 96......Over $11 in 1985 must've been GREAT!
For sure he misspoke the figure
I caught that too!!!
Yes, I remember making 3 and change, and then in 1986 I made $5 lol
Finding these deleted scenes has really added even more depth to the characters. I love it. This is my all time favourite 80's movie, and I love it.
Thank you.
So this explains Bender's later remark about Clair's "poor, rich, drunk mother in the Caribbean" and why Allison had a Prince album in school.
For real and to think I thought he was just exaggerating in that scene & I was like Allison listen to Prince? Cause I took her for someone who listens to Alice Cooper
@@jerramaurice7836 Bender listens to Alice Cooper. Allison listened to Siouxsie and The Banshees.

I think it’s great how Bender listens to Carl without allowing himself to become upset by his insightful predictions.
oh he heard Carl loud and clear. just watch his face at 8:22 and the look away/face drop at 8:35
@Booty eatin' Benadryl bandit Carl's just telling Bender what he's already afraid is his future, written in stone.
If anything, I sense a little admiration there. Bender has an odd respect for Carl.
Hey!.... there was a reason that these scenes were deleted, they are just dreadful...
@@pendafen7405 Evidently Molly and Anthony were dating during production of this, which is mind-boggling!
I agree, Brian’s mom was a very nasty person with an obvious Boston accent, which exacerbated her nastiness. A southerners worst nightmare.
That was the reality of the day, and any day, honestly. Teens will always conflict with parents, it's just how life is. Then when you get older, you appreciate your parents if they did a good job...
I like how Bender still manage to smile, when the guy lays into him
i think it's because bender's used to immature yelling matches with his parents and vernon, he's not used to someone who can articulately and brutally tear down someone's character even better than he can.
Dad's fists and belts might break my bones, but nasty teenage words can't hurt me
“A husband with more girlfriends than anniversaries.” 😂 I’m saving that one.
The acting in this was first class. Even that first scene of them walking by the desk. Pretty great.
Very impressive actually
Yep, everyone in this movie brought their A game.
Maybe the janitor's scene was a bit dark to be included in the movie but it should've been included as it shows how close he can relate to each student and how far he can project them into the future and how he fucked his life up and yet still doesn't hate the children since he knows he was one of them and ironically this is what has kept the last ray of light in his heart unlike Vernon who's dead inside
This very deleted scene adds more layers to his character which makes him more wise (in a way)
I like how he tells them how he fucked up with no emotions because he must have played his entire life in his mind countless times and hence couldn't feel any regrets, at least not in front of the kids
This scene is very necessary for the film
the janitor was just a ok guy and I even think that he wanted to motivate these teenagers, he told them such dark visions of themselves in a few years so that they would try not to have them, it means to live better
Most of these scenes were probably cut due to their length. They created continuity issues
That is not true at all. There are no guarantees in life.
16:08 I just realized that bender is a virgin
Wish theyd kept the scene with Alison throwing the papers out of the staff locker while manically grinning. Really shows how she does anything to get the attention her parents and peers dont give.

Very true, before I realized this I was a shithead kid who left toilet paper on bathroom floors etc., eventually came to feel bad when I knew someone would have to clean it up
As my mother once said, all work is honorable
Some janitors do very well in certain suburban and urban school districts. They get a good steady salary , benefits, and all the school vacation days paid.
They should’ve kept the part with Bender, Claire, and Brian with the books!
@Seagal Steven oh I didn’t even know there was a directors cut, interesting!
Bender shoulda say Peek a boo.
She was trying so hard not to laugh at the end.
That was a cool shot with the book sliding

Best low-cost movie ever made. I especially love the pan around Emilio when talking about taping Larry Lester's buns together. The Pixi Stix/Captain Crunch sandwich, bologna slide-off scene was pretty epic too. This movie hits high school life dead on the head for every Neo Maxi Zoom Dweebie out there!
That was a good pan shot around Emilio during his monologue.
Carl The Janitor telling those kids off. The greatest scene that was never seen until now, priceless.
Seriously loved the part where Bender, Clair, and Brian are talking through the books! Wish they would’ve left that in there.

BRIAN'S LITTLE LAUGH AT 2:09 OMG I CAN'T HE'S TOO ADORABLE 😭😭😭
@@holiday197 only one of those I'd actually wanna see is the first one tbh- the Monday one could be cool but I'm ngl I think that's a myth

I remember reading about that. It was "My Life" by Phil Ochs.
A couple of scenes always bothered me. I always felt the scene with Vernon giving Bender more detention deserved better dialogue.
Vernon: "Are you through?"
Bender: "No."
Vernon: "I'm doing society a favor."
Bender: "Bullshit, you're doing yourself a favor."
The actual dialogue just made him seem like another dumb burnout who thought he was tough.
I wish they kept a few of these in 🤣. One of my favorite 80s movies 🙌🏻
Best movie of all times! Thanks John Hughes, for entertaining us!!!
It won't be ever released, sadly no one has put all these scenes into a fan edit tho sadly
Releasing The Director’s Cut of this movie would make lots of money.
I would love to see the scene on Monday Morning where they nod to each other. I’ve often wondered about what happened to them on Monday.
The 40th anniversary is coming next year. Fingers crossed they do something special & release those scenes.
Spoken like a true guidance counselor.
but adults are like that janitor and principal.
I disagree shitdick
it was funny but felt unnecessary, the movie and it’s message was big on show and don’t tell and the monologue is a basically the movie written out for blind people. and with the essay brian wrote, it would’ve felt repetitive
It's like God gave Judd Nelson one movie to be the greatest actor ever in, and that was it!! He never hit a role like this again.
He was great other movies, like the Billionaire Boys' Club (made for TV but awesome), and also From the Hip. He should have been in more movies, frankly. Like Harry Dean Stanton, he makes anything he's in good.
St. Elmos Fire was another great classic he was in.
He was always good, but I agree, he owned his role like few actors ever have. This is my all-time favourite movie (16 when it came out), and all the cast were amazing in their roles. But Judd as Bender is one of the all-time great casting decisions and performances. Did I stutter?
he did well in sitcoms though
Andrew: This belongs to a teacher?

Class of '81 here.......Wish so bad they still made movies like this; teenagers today could use movies like this. Have seen this movie a hundred times, and it still is hilarious - love these deleted scenes, especially the janitor.
Class of 81 too...we grew up in the best of times! ☺️
Ally Sheedy is amazing in this!!
I think her performance in this movie was Oscar worthy
She's a very good actress. She was great in Bad boys.
I agree. I don't think she was ever that good of an actor, but she's good in this.
Carl The Janitor: I'm about to end these five kid's potential future careers.
He kind did in real life too
One the best films ever made..thank you for sharing..when I lived in CA..Molly was my neighbor back in 1998
They should have kept in the scene with Brian and Claire acting out their families, the books scene, Alison at the locker with Andy, it added to their characters in a cool way.
5:51 Carl's deleted scene was vicious.

I will forever love this movie
It's a shame John Hughes passed away. A director's cut would be gold.
