    Don’t worry about the trolls. There is always someone who is just plain critical about anything and everything. As a retired math teacher of 28 plus years who is now a handyman man, I can appreciate your years of experience and expertise knowledge. You know what your talking about and have valuable insight because of your years of experience. In reality there is simply no substitute for experience regardless of the quality of tools. I’ve that lesson many years ago. Keep up the good work and make videos at a pace that fits your schedule not anyone’s else. Thanks,

    Pay no mind to the smart asses out there Mr.Sessa.No matter what you do or say there will always be people that will find fault with what you do,say and/or think. There are people out there that live to berate, belittle and criticize others because they have such low self esteem and often times the people that complain about the way you look do so because with faces like theirs everyone has something to laugh about except them. You provide a service that not very many people take the time or care to take the time to provide so God bless you and yours Mr.Sessa, screw the trolls and ignore them because the rest of us truly appreciate what do and what you teach.

    I used to do like you Mr.Sessa.I used to use a drain cable without any head on the cable and I used to unclog sinks from the top but I quickly learned that I was better off using a drain cable with a drop-head/double down head on it and I also learned to take the drain pipes apart and unclog the drains from under the sinks because I would often encounter situations where the drain cable would go anywhere but down the drain pipe. When ever I have to change drain lines I use the double wye because with the double wye the drain cable has only one way to go which is down. The down side of unclogging drains from under the sinks is that often times the drain pipes are old and need to be replaced but that's no big deal because unclogging the drain and replacing the old drain pipes is often the best option.Thank you again for your videos and God bless you and yours Mr.Sessa.

    Thank you so much for this video. I’m a single mom trying to figure out my drain. Life seems to never be textbook so I try to think of every angle before I attempt something. Your video has me kinda feeling hopeless that I can do this but at the same time I feel that you just saved me from drowning even deeper. I guess I’ll just keep trying the vinegar and baking soda and eventually move up to drano or something. Thank you so much for all you’ve taught me.

      Try this, use a liquid drain cleaner (Drain-O, whatever) the key is to pour it down the drain before you go to bed and DO NOT use the water until the next morning. Do this for 5 consecutive days in a row. Use 1/2 of a 32 oz bottle at a time. You may see the drain open in two or three days. BUT! if this is strictly a HAIR CLOG, snaking is the only solution. Good Luck, Bob.

    Thanks for sharing your expertise. Nothing is ever textbook… I have what I’m guessing is a tee with a 3” galvanized pipe coming out from the wall that pvc just slides into and from that pvc the elbow connects to and up from there it connects to sink.
    Problem is once i disconnect everything except the 4” galvanized pipe coming out of the wall i have no way of adjusting a snake, hair grabber jobadoo or even a hanger. So I have to go underneath house to get a look at what m dealing with. Probably going to have to redo the pipes.
    Wish you were my neighbor

    Very informative, shows the possible problems of snaking a drain. Never snaked one from the top, always from where enters wall without problems, flushed from supply into drain before putting back together.

    Can t use double wye s wye and 45 and combo s on a vertical in Massachusetts for vent. It makes a 3/4 s trap and puts the vent opening below the trap weir.

      We are allowed the cross y and 1/8 bend combo but we have to vent each branch individually in NYC. Inspectors are not fond of the cross ty and “s” traps are not permitted.

    This was a great video. I tried a drain cleaner for my slow draining vessel sink, it barely budged, then after tons of YT videos I read that a plunger was best. Tried that and it’s even worse. The plumber came and I think I heard him mention he had a drop head snake but he seemed to keep hitting a wall. He was snaking the pipe that was extending from the wall. He never got the stoppage, used the remaining drain cleaner and told me to pour boiling water in sink the next morning. Didn’t work . He said try Drano gel and if that doesn’t work he’s going to have to go in the wall. My question-can a clog be around the outside of of the vessel drain stopper? Also what’s the process of going in the wall? From your explanation sounds like he was hitting that straight T.

    • @BobsPlumbingVideos
      @BobsPlumbingVideos  2 роки тому

      What I generally do if the wire refuse to go down the drain is to locate the vent pipe (hopefully accessible) drill a hole in it above the flood level rim of the sink and send the snake down. That solves the issue 99% of the time, then I'll place a repair clamp over the hole I drilled for future access. And before the TROLL"s chime in, I know you're NOT supposed to DRILL HOLES in vent lines! But in the real world it's done daily.

    Always run into the problem fittings on older buildings and house with galvanized. Always cleanout tee's or a house flip with a non licensed guy using crosses. Frustrating as hell. Lol😊

    Bob what septic treatment would you recommend?

    • @BobsPlumbingVideos

      The best product, in my opinion, is Bio-Clean - amzn.to/2yzK3f6.I used this as a regular treatment on my Septic system up until three years ago when I switched to city sewers. I was the only person on my block who never had any issues with my septic tank. Good Luck! Bob.

I refuse he plunges pushing hair into back wall pipe complicating what could have been some right with a snake after cleaning ptrap. Uuuuurrrrrrgggghhhh frusterating!!!!!!!
