    The way you pulled the top wristlock tight is the key. Strangling any submission is so important. Strangling a submission just simply means pull out all the space you can before you attempt to submit. It takes a very little energy to squeeze space out. It takes a lot of energy to try to finish a bad submission. I never even take my arm out from under the head. Thank you for the back to basics pointers by the way. Just golden. As I get older my subs get more basic.

    The elbow under the chin is prolly the most important point here.... I've taken peoples backs and then started sliding off to the side bc of my opponent defending and the RNC simply doesn't work unless you are squared up with your elbow deep under there.... if you have THAT angle.. it's over... great video man.

  • @NickB283
    @NickB283 2 роки тому +1

    I like this list, but would put the Americana as move number three. My reasoning is that the RNC and Triangle work off the same principle: compress both carotid arteries and eliminate escape behind the neck, creating the three sides needed for a successful strangulation(unless the trachea crush version of the RNC is being used [an actual choke rather than a strangle], in which the triangle shape surrounding the neck is rotated and there’s a line across the front of the neck rather than the back). Having a straight arm lock, a rotational/bent arm lock, and a choke/strangle gives a student three different principles to utilize in future techniques. Example: Kimura, Americana, Omoplata all utilize the same principle. RNC, Triagle, Guillotine all use the same principle. Arm bar and Knee bar use the same principle. Etc.
    Just my two cents. Great video btw!

  • @mrrob5851
    @mrrob5851 2 роки тому +2

    My first three was Kimura. Which I have since learned to set the mouse trap. As what I call it. Then Kimura and it’s two brothers the short arm bar and amerikhana. The second one I learned was the cross collar choke from guard. And the armbar from guard. Those were my first three. But lapel chokes are my fav.

    @Arco961 2 роки тому +1

    Before watching my pick is triangle, armbar and a good guillotine or RNC. Probably RNC because the position is much more dominant being on someone's back if u know what ur doing should just be a matter of time but guillotines are easier to escape

    On the armbar, if you make sure the elbow is at your waist or higher when you perform the lean, you'll have far more success and make it more damaging as well.
    It turns your pelvis into a fulcrum against the shoulder, which rolls their body up and away from you. This increases the amount of leverage while making it harder to reach across to stalemate the armbar.
    It will get you taps where you otherwise wouldnt get them in competition vs more flexible opponents, and if you ever have to use it for real -- will cause way more damage because on top of threating an elbow break or dislocation you also threaten the same damage to the shoulder.

    I first learned the Americana before I started actually training from the Gracie combatives videos. Second was the kimura from north south. Third Armbar from mount. I’m a new white belt (I’m 5 months in and bigger than most guys at my gym) and the submissions I can actually get on new white belts like me are the kimura from north south, the Americana from mount/side, and cross collar choke from mount (learned from Roger Gracie’s explanation on UA-cam)
    Amazing video by the way. You are an excellent teacher!!! I’m going to start basing off my hands to turn for the armbar. Maybe I’ll start being able to move easier to turn for it.
    But I can’t do the triangle to save my life. I’m just extremely inflexible. Like way less flexible than normal. I started a stretching workout so maybe one day…

    I personally would agree on the triangle and armbar, but I would switch the rnc with the omoplata (because they are interconnected) and the americana with the rnc
