I am black and Latino (black passing) my father is Hispanic and when I was younger i dated and loved Latino men because I loved my dad but once I got older and wanted a family I wanted someone that looked like me and wanted kids that look like me. You're not wrong about that. People are naturally willing to date their own race because they typically have the same background and interests. We can't let that discourage us because I always know there are people out there who are willing to date outside their race.
