Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are already available for all Corollas with the Toyota Touch System, Toyota updated the Infotainment on cars produced after October 2019. I've already tested it in a new Corolla GR Sport at my local Toyota dealer and it works like a charm. For cars produced before this update (like the Corolla in this Review) Toyota will offer an upgrade in the summer of 2020.

How does the boot space compaired to its predecessor the auris? Is it the same? We have an avensis now that we would like to change, but sadly that is discontinnued. Looking at the toyota corolla TS but this seems a great deal smaller in the boot.

I think we cannot declar that Corolla its better then Golf only because according to some peoples opinion, VW group still 'prefers' to declare optimistic figures in matter of consumptions/emmisions etc. Every car must be analyzed according to target public and also from engineering point of view, therefore Corolla deserves congrats for hybrid system, which really is amazing in terms of reliebility, efficiency etc. Golf instead among his own technology level is more rafined car due to much better sound insulation, and also for better set up of suspension/steering etc. If we are looking the driving feeling as in my case this is the most important, definitively there are better cars in the segment, my personal new generation Mazda 3 is one of examples. Before buying it, i have driven also the Corolla and i realised after few kilometers that these two cars will have completelly different buyer segment. Corolla had more tyre noise (especiely from rear) and even if the materials inside the cabin are improoved significantly from Auris, still does not achieve the level of M3. Steering also was less direct in responses etc. Corolla is great for city cruising, like Thomas did in this video following other cars, enjoying unbelievable consumption figures, meanwhile M3 offers that driving pleasure through steering wheel which cannot be equilised by Corolla.
At 10:08 , after driving slowly, 4 litres/100 km is about 70mpg imperial. Hybrid is economical in town; Dr Diesel is economical on highway and when towing. 🤐
Love your reviews ! About 3 years ago there was a Toyota model called Avensis . The Avensis was a big size sedan . It was way better than the Corolla -If built quality is taken into consideration. Also the Avensis was quieter inside the car - i remember i could hear no wheels nor road noise during the test drive. Does the vehicle in the review have similar characteristics?

I plan to choose a 1.8 hybrid touring sports, but unfortunately I couldn't test it on highways, only in city. Do you know how bad is that version on a highway (engine and wind noise, flexibility when doing overtakes, etc)? I read that they recommend the 2.0 for highways, but I don't have that option, budget wise... Thanks for the great work during 2019, see you in 2020!
I’ve got the two litre version. I got the car in July. Was getting 62mpg on average. Fast forward to November and I was averaging 50mpg. Basically the colder it is the longer the engine stays on to keep the heating going etc. I noticed a big difference when the temperature is below 5c. Not that we’ve had any yet but I think on ice days we would be looking at 40mpg. I’m in Scotland FYI.
Different priorities. Europeans do care about driving dynamics, drivetrain feel, quality interior, style, technology packages (good audio, advanced headlights, intuitive infotainment etc), freedom while optioning the car (you can buy almost every option to every trim) especially when you can get a rebate and a good financing option on top of that. That's where ALL Japanese manufacturers fail to deliver. Also when you buy a new car you are covered by the warranty when it comes to reliability. When you buy a used one, the cost of the repairs and overall car's durability are at least equally if not more important. Repairs and spare parts for Japanese cars are stupidly expensive in Europe, overall durability is also mediocre - Toyota's popular 1.6 nN/A gas engine lasts for just 300-350k km (about 200k miles) before it needs to be rebuild, almost all Japanese diesels are crap, all Japanese cars have issues with rust because none of them invested in cataphoretic baths where you can electro-coat the whole car body with a perfect layer of zinc on a atomic level, they're just spraying some solution on tops which is nowhere near as effective. As an effect 1997 Golf Mk4 is still in perfect condition, more - there are still plenty of Mk3s on the road and they're starting to show the first signs of rust. As for Japanese cars go, almost everything before 2000 is gone, younger ones are starting to corrode. That's my dad's 2020 Auris:i.imgur.com/kGgz7YLh.jpg It showed the first signs of corrosion after just 2 years, the dealer recommended him to go and get some aftermarket treatment to slow everything down.
@@sic22l I agree German cars have a better ride quality with more sophisticated suspension,better audio if specified and much better infotainment,better sound insulation ,i have 3 cars a 2017 Bmw 240i bought new a 2012 Golf 2.0 diesel match and a 1992 Toyota Corolla 1.6 4afe lift back with 340,000 miles which I've owned for 20 years and all short trips ,all are great cars in their own way ,but the Corolla which 90% of the body is made of galvanised steel and is in amazing condition for its age,the 1990s Toyotas were much better made highly durable interiors but generally Toyota and Honda put everything into their engines and running gear .-the golf is a great car apart from the rust-both front wings have rusted through -a common problem apparently the weather strips a nasty thick lump of rubber on each door has lifted due to water intrusion and generally the car hasn't weathered very well compared to the Toyota ,but it has a more solid feel as all German cars do,but neither of the German cars will have nowhere near the longevity and durability of the old Corolla which virtually every part is original including the exhaust excluding the downpipe-and parts if needed are reasonable prices comparable to a VW they just don't have the same following in Europe -the older German cars were tough and durable but the new ones in comparison are not.

ohne speed limiter und ohne dem autom. planetengetriebe ( der viele abschreckt ) und der extrem hohen versicherungs einstufung könnte toyota viel viel mehr von diesem tollen auto in deutschland verkaufen, aber das will man ja hier nicht den man muss ja den total überteuerten und langweiligen golf verkaufen.

Possibly better than the Golf? I think so, and none of the emissions cheating of the VW group.

Touring Sports TREK is even nicer and more practical for outdoor.
7 monthes ago I bought it 1.8 hyb. in the summer the consumption was 4.2 l/100 but in the winter it consumes 5.7-6.7l/100

Not within the next 20-30 years or so. Electrics are nowhere near ready to go mainstream.
