      @@claveyscorner3220 With a hybrid you're digging large pit mines looking for lithium and you're still using gas pipelines. And the battery manufacturing is very polluting. Hydrogen may be the best way to go in the future.

      @@patricklondon6006 Remember this is an iterative process - no one claimed that hybrids and batteries in 2021 were going to magically save the planet exactly as is. By iterating and growing the technology we can get to a controlled supply chain that *does* - environmental lithium mining, sustainable hydrogen generation using solar/wind, recycled nicked/copper etc, blah blah *can* all be done with very limited or no emissions but it has to have the chance to grow. Continuing to burn gas, included imported from 1000's of km away, with tiny increments of fuel efficient gains is not getting any to zero emissions or anything close to that - it's a process that is going to take decades more

    Hybrids pollute 1/2 as much as a regular engine? Tell us then what becomes of the batteries after they are depleted and unusable, where are these recycled? Whose backyard are they being buried in? It's a problem isn't it. Crickets.

    • @claveyscorner3220
      @claveyscorner3220  2 роки тому +1

      Old EV batteries have two, sometimes three lifespans. They are stacked and used for server rooms or to power industrial machinery.
      Eventually a battery can be entirely recycled and its metals used for something else. You can't recycle gasoline. Once you burn it, it's gone.

    It would be nice to do a comparative match, maybe between a volt and this car, for instance. They seems pretty mutch the same at first glance. I do think thought, that this Corolla does miss some regen braking paddles under the steering wheel. Do they offer an awd version for this? For the starting price I am actually amase by this car as is. Good review btw thanks!

    • @claveyscorner3220
      @claveyscorner3220  3 роки тому +2

      The Volt is a plug-in hybrid while this isn't. Because the battery is much smaller here, multi-level regen braking wouldn't have a purpose. Thanks for your comment!

      Your comment is a bit old now, but I'll reply anyway. I leased a 2018 Volt and now have the 2022 Corolla Hybrid. The Volt will GO FAST when you step on the gas. The Corolla hybrid will not!
      I used my Volt like a gas car and it was great. If I'd had a way to plug it in at home, it would have been even better. My only complaints about the Volt was that the head unit was buggy and the seat+mirror did not promote good posture for me. The Corolla is more comfortable to sit in and more fuel efficient.
